Great Atmosphere, Hit-or-Miss Bites
Jailbreak FoodWorks has a cool vibe, but the food was a mixed bag. My wife and I went in with high hopes and left with a few hits and some misses.
First up: the nachos. These things could feed a small army--seriously, four people could split them and still leave full. Tasty, flavorful, and mercifully not drowning in cheese, so the chips stayed crispy. That said, "Spicy" is in the name for a reason--if you can't handle heat, proceed with caution.
Now, my fried chicken sandwich. A+ for presentation, A+ for crispiness, but a solid C for flavor. It looked amazing but tasted... underwhelming. Adding hot sauce helped, but why should I have to season my own sandwich? Also, using a chicken thigh instead of a breast was an unexpected twist--maybe some love it, but I prefer my sandwiches thigh-less.
For dessert, my wife had the OG Ice Cream Sandwich. It was rock-solid (literally--it's pre-made and freezer-kept), which I actually liked. She, on the other hand, was expecting something softer. The cookies? Delicious. The ice cream? Meh. At $6, it didn't exactly scream "great value."
Overall, FoodWorks has potential, but some dishes need a little more... jailbreak from mediocrity. Would I come back? Sure--but I'll be steering my taste buds a little differently next time.
