Jaime Taqueria - Review - El Segundo - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"After building a mini-empire of Italian restaurants (Jame Enoteca, Ospi, Jemma Hollywood), the chef behind them is jumping from pasta to tacos. Jaime Taqueria in El Segundo has a patio full of pink chairs and a lineup of tacos, burritos, guac, ceviches, and margaritas. The time you show up can work in your favor—there’s a daily Happy Hour from 3-5:30pm with $12 margs, and a daily lunch special that includes two tacos and a marg for $25. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists." - Cathy Park

We’ve been a big fan of Jame so we were pumped to try Jaime! We got a reservation for happy hour and glad we did. Decent happy hour menu, the tacos were really good, I got one of each. The guac was ok, I prefer more chunky but was style solid. The happy hour margs are decent for the price. They’re still working out their service links but everyone else a super nice. We will definitely come back to try the full menu. Great addition to downtown Gundo!

Fresh, Flavorful, and Already a Favorite! We checked out the brand-new California Mexican spot that just opened this week—and I have to say, it already feels like it’s going to be a staple. The owners aren’t new to the scene (they’re behind Jame in El Segundo and Ospi in Venice—both incredible Italian restaurants), so I had high hopes, and they absolutely delivered. Yes, it’s still the first week, and you could tell the team is working out some of the rhythms—lots of staff checking in, a bit of hustle happening—but honestly, I kind of love the energy of a new place getting its footing, especially when the food is this good. We started with Margaritas—solid. Then came the guacamole with crispy black garlic and chili—it was fantastic. Chips were fresh and clearly made in-house. I had the sweet potato taco and genuinely loved it. We also tried the sweet corn tamales—so good. Others at the table ordered shrimp dishes, salads, and tacos, and everyone was happy. No notes on flavor—it was all fresh, vibrant, and delicious. One small thing: some dishes were a bit oily for my taste - chef, hold the oil! Also, pricing-wise, the apps are pretty much on par with the mains. Between the three of us, we spent about $150 (shared a bunch, and we were hungry), so it’s not inexpensive—but the quality speaks for itself. The location looks great too—this space used to be a Brazilian restaurant, and this transformation feels like a great addition to the neighborhood. Welcome to the block! We’re lucky to have you. Already looking forward to coming back.

***Update to my original review written on 5/24/25. Service brought this review to a 1 star*** New- Update to my original review (posted below): This further reinforces my initial concerns about the service at ¡Jaime! Taqueria. After posting my review, the manager responded and asked me to give him a call. I appreciated the gesture and followed up, speaking with D’Andrew (the manager), who offered me a gift card as an incentive to give the restaurant another try. I accepted, and he mentioned it would be texted to me within 24 hours. This conversation happened on Tuesday, May 27. As of Sunday, June 1, 2025, I still haven’t received anything. I called the restaurant to follow up and was told by an employee that the manager on duty was someone named Maddie (or Matty/Mattie). When I asked for her, she answered and said she was just the hostess. Confused, I called back about five hours later and finally got in touch with D’Andrew again. He claimed he had sent the gift card to the correct number and said he would cancel the text and email it to me instead. Again, as of Sunday, June 1, 2025, I still have nothing—no text, no email, no follow-up. At this point, I honestly don’t even think the takeout is worth it. Be very, very, very cautious when dining here. A place can have good food, but if the service and management can’t follow through on even the simplest commitments, it really says a lot. Original- Let me start by saying the food was a solid 5/5—even though the rice and beans were lukewarm. My wife and I tried the filet mignon taco, shrimp taco, carnitas taco, and chicken taco, along with a side of esquites. For dessert, we shared the ice cream sundae topped with churro bites and caramel sauce. Super good (though let’s be honest, it’s hard to mess that one up). We also tried their Cadillac margarita, which our waiter recommended—and he wasn’t wrong. It was excellent, and the fact that they use Siete Leguas tequila is a big plus. Unfortunately, the service really brought the experience down. It was extremely slow, and it felt like other tables were being prioritized over ours—if you catch my drift. We ordered chips and guacamole as a starter, which never came. When we mentioned it to our server after the food had already arrived, all we got was a casual “that was my bad.” No follow-up or offer to fix it. Later, a different staff member came by and asked if we wanted any sauces with our meals. We said yes—but again, they never showed up. Meanwhile, the table behind us made a similar request and got their sauces right away. To top it off, our check was dropped off and never followed up on. We had to flag down a completely different employee to help us close out. Then our original server finally reappeared to ask if we were ready to pay… a little late for that. If ¡Jaime! Taqueria can improve their service and follow through on customer requests, they’d have something really special here. The food is definitely worth returning for—but only if the service steps up to match it… or if we stick to pickup orders instead of sitting there for long periods feeling like hostages in a taco standoff. 🌮⏳

Google
We lucked out with a table at lunch on Friday. Food and drinks were great. Really good vibe + nice staff; definitely going to be one of our lunch/dinner spots. Some of our favorites were the veggie options: sweet corn tamales, sweet potato tacos, crunchy guacamole. Great new spot.

Google
Food is my only gripe - lacking spice and flavor. If you provide 3 salsas, make one spicy and robust with flavor. The birria tacos were bland and cheese flavorless. Everything else was great. Can’t reiterate this enough - add heat and flavors. That’s what separates okay mexican from phenomenal Mexican! Hope something changes quickly so we can frequent the spot often. If not, we’ll be at Sausal down the street.

Google
We celebrated my daughter's birthday there and had the large party table outside. Very nice environment and the service was great. Everything we tried was good, we all enjoyed it. My favorite was the watermelon Margarita, they have the best chips in town and I love the beef cheek tacos. We will go back.

Fantastic new spot in El Segundo! Great drinks, food, atmosphere, and service! Dino and D’Andrew did an amazing job, and the don’t skip the beans (they are absolutely to die for)

Yelp
Taco Tuesday at Jaime Taqueria is a good vibe! Greats deals on delicious tacos. Parking is on the street, in the neighborhood as there's only 2 spots in the front. The entrance is also hard to see if cars are parked in the two spots in front. Enter alongside the wall with the mural. Cute decor. Loved the wallpaper! Staff is really nice. I forget the name of our server, but she was awesome! Back to the food. The guacamole trio was great! So many fun combos: Parmesan, black garlic chili (my fave), sweet and crunchy corn, all served with tortilla chips. We ordered one of each taco and split it so we could them all. Burria- fave taco of all, SO good Carnitas- another good flavorful taco Filet- Good flavor, needs to be more tender Shrimp- good but needs more shrimp Fish- nice big piece of fish and great flavor Chicken- very flavorful, pretty good Mushroom- not good flavor Potato- best option for vegetarians Tres leche cake was good, but too sweet for my taste. Definitely coming back to try more dishes.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast at 10 am for the first time and were the only customers there. The server passed by us multiple times without saying "Good morning" or "Hello" and seemed like she was in a hurry to set things up inside, so we just entered our order in the online kiosk. The server didn't tell us what our table letter is (the kiosk asks for it in the end of the order), so we were a bit confused about that. By the time we finally got the server's attention to give us more info about the table letter, the whole order disappeared and we had to do it again (yay!). Her demeanor during the entire meal was polite (yet perfunctory) and not in the least bit warm. As for the food, it was good--nothing too spectacular, as far as burritos are concerned. I had the birria burrito and my husband had the bacon. The cilantro aioli was the star of the show and enhanced the flavor of the food. The portion size was a bit small for the price point and our drinks were made well. It's a pretty restaurant, so you're paying for the location, but I think I could spend my money elsewhere and start my day at a place with a more welcoming vibe.

Yelp
I got the carne asada breakfast burrito with a side of chipotle aioli. The chipotle sauce was a bit too mayo heavy. The steak was also way too tough and overdone. Would opt for a more shredded meat. Great cheese sizzle on the tortilla and the tater tots were crispy! Guac was good but small little bowl. Rice was also fine. Elote was good but spicy. Nice ambiance inside. You order at a kiosk.

Yelp
I stopped by ¡Jaime! Taqueria for their breakfast burrito event, and it absolutely matched the aesthetic they're going for -- modern, colorful, and super inviting. The vibe is perfect for a cute brunch with friends, and the space feels fresh, clean, and thoughtfully designed. The staff was polite and professional, and everything from the service to the presentation felt clean-cut and elevated. And let me tell you... I just took a bite of the burrito and oh my God -- AMAZING. 10/10. It was so flavorful and perfectly made, like they wrapped it with love. It was honestly one of the best breakfast burritos I've had. I didn't get to try the drinks this time, but their coffee smelled sooo good -- I'll definitely be back for more! Flavor and presentation? 10 out of 10. I highly recommend the breakfast burrito -- and now I'm excited to come back and try the rest of the menu!

Yelp
Cinco de Mayo 2025... Not sure why all the lame reviews lately, but I loved my visit - and on Cinco De Mayo!!! Reservation for 3 at 6PM - BINGO! No wait, no drama, seated immediately. Special shout to Jaelynn our server, she was outstanding! FAST, friendly and efficient. Cool vibe to the restaurant, it's small but stylish. I found the food beautifully presented, delicious and filling. I tried a trio of tacos - filet mignon, chicken and shrimp - all scrumptious. The potato & cheese taquitos were a standout - we ordered a second plate. Chips and salsa/sauce collection (4) - excellent. Wash it all down with a margarita or a local Mayberry IPA and you're livin' grande! Again, I'm dumbfounded by the lousy Yelp reviews, I loved Jaime Taqueria. 5 stars

Yelp
This restaurant is one of the newest from the restaurateur duo, Chef Jackson Kalb and wife, Melissa. You may know them from their sublimely-good Italian places, Jame, Ospi, et al. It took a few weeks to work out the typical opening kinks, but Jaime is really hitting its stride. I dine here once a week or so. I strongly recommend ordering like this (for two) either for lunch or dinner: get either the pork shank or the ribeye, add chips and one of the three guacamoles or the queso, order both salsas, a side of the red rice, and flour tortillas. These are two of my favorite meals in the entire South Bay and you won't leave hungry. Both the pork shank and the ribeye are big enough to share if you add the sides. And, since you're splitting a main, the bill is very reasonable for a memorably-delicious repast. Managers Julissa and Hillary will make sure you're well taken care of. Bartenders Tatum, Randy & Carlos pour delicious cocktails and are happy to serve your meal at the bar. If you're seated at a table, see if you can sit in Frank's section. The parking lot is small, but street parking is ample and free. Bon Appétit!

Yelp
I have to say I was disappointed. We were excited to go because it's the latest from a great semi chain of restaurants (jame is down the street serving pasta), but we will not be back. My taco order came out wrong. When I asked for tapatío, they said they don't have any so they'll bring me habanero sauce.... And then promptly charged me $2 extra for it (if you're going to charge for condiments you have to say something ahead of time). I had a huge stomach ache after the tacos. Service was good. Ambiance was weird but great if you're a dude into busty ladies. Overall, not coming back.

Yelp
I had low expectations eating at a Mexican restaurant that isn't from a cart or truck and where 2 tacos cost $15! Just seems wrong. With that being said, the food was really good and tasty. Our server, Nick, took care of us and was super hospitable. Honest with recommendations and the amount of food we ordered. I did enjoy my experience for what it is and a reminder to be open minded.

Yelp
Came here on a whim for Taco Tuesday and ended up really enjoying it! I sat outside--loved the cute velvet chairs, super cozy. I got the citrus-achiote chicken taco and the sweet potato taco. Both were good but the chicken was my favorite--flavorful with just the right amount of spice. For a drink, I had the Cadillac margarita with the little upside-down Grand Marnier bottle in it...so fun that I took a picture Our server was really attentive, and the vibe was relaxed. Tacos are cheaper during Taco Tuesday (3pm to close), which makes it a nice midweek spot. I'd definitely come back, maybe for happy hour next time (3-5:30pm). Seems like a great place to sip a cocktail and chill.

Yelp
I want to start by saying we are huge fans of Jame so we couldn't wait to try out the new concept by the same chef in town! Checked out the place this weekend and the food was good, but the prices left a bad taste. We ordered a pretty standard lunch with an appetizer, taco order per person, drinks and a kid's meal and somehow the bill crept up to over a $100, mostly thanks to $12 beers and the need to double the kids meal due to the size. The kids' portion was tiny so we had to double up on that which ended up to cost the same as an adult meal. Service was good and on point. The ambiance left me undecided regarding the self-identification of this place: they had children's menu, changing table at the restroom but some questionable art throughout so not sure if they are trying to be a dude's bar or a family-friendly place. Tacos were flavorful and well-made, no complaints there, but when a casual lunch for a family starts feeling like a fine dining tab, it's hard to justify coming back. There are so many Mexican places around in the area that hit the spot and don't cost that much (especially on drinks). Not sure this place will be in the regular rotation unless they adjust the pricing.

Yelp
I have been wanting to try this place since going to Jame down the road a few months ago and having such a good experience. We came on a Friday evening and got a table right away even though it was busy, which was nice. The waitress was super friendly and helpful! We got a couple drinks, margaritas were all so good, and the michelada was good but had way too much juice compared to beer. You have to pay for chips and salsa which is odd, but we wanted it so we got that and guacamole. Thankfully they did give refills of the chips and salsa. We got ceviche which was $25 and came with only 5 shrimp!!! INSANE! Would not get again. It was good, but not good enough for the price to food ratio. We got a couple tacos and they were okay, not bad, but not the best. The star of the show was definitely the ribeye!!! The melty cheese and pico de gallo on top was amazing, and it came with tortillas to make steak tacos. The only thing I would say was the cheese was quite difficult to get off of the cast iron, we had to scrape it off with a knife. Overall we had a pleasant experience and would maybe come back for happy hour drinks or the steak. Our meal ended up being the same price as Jame, but Jame was definitely the better restaurant.

Yelp
I love the appetizers more than the tacos. Everything on the menu is good. Service is great. The restaurant is spacious. I like both the indoor and outdoor seatings. The only thing that can be improved is the dessert menu.

Yelp
Hola! Jaime Taqueria is an awesome addition to the main drag of El Segundo. First of all, they rescued a tired old restaurant and transformed it into a beautiful, comfortable dining environment that is welcoming and quiet. The service was excellent. Attentive to our comfort at all times. The food is outstanding. The guacamole was freshly prepared and was mostly avocado. The chips were fresh, crispy and perfectly salted. The queso was next level with crispy edges and lots of chorizo. The kale salad was perfectly prepared - appropriate dressing ratio and well seasoned. The chilaquiles were best in class - crispy until the last bite! Much appreciate the over easy egg substitute for scrambled. The focus here is on cocktails. There is not much of a wine list, but the anonymous glass of rose wine that I had was tasty. I will definitely be returning to try more of the menu. Great service, great meal and great room.

Yelp
Recently opened for breakfast- and have to say it's my new fave in town for breakfast and brunch. I like that they open at 8am, which is super convenient and offers another option on Main St, right across from Kreation juicery. Ordered the filet mignon breakfast burrito which was absolutely divine. Steak was perfectly seasoned and prepared medium (with a few slightly med rare pieces which I absolutely LOVED!). Tortilla prepared with burnt cheese on outside giving it a satisfying texture and richness. Frites inside were a nice touch, fluffy eggs. Just perfect all the way around. Service was excellent and enjoyed a lovely table on the patio with just the right amount of sun to create a relaxing and enjoyable experience. Mimosa was also wonderful with splash of fresh orange juice. I like their breakfast/ brunch better than dinner because I found the value to be better and the ambience was more relaxing.

Yelp
My girlfriend took me here for dinner. It was really great. We got the chips and salsa, regular guacamole, I had a beef cheek taco and a fish taco. Both were delicious and I look forward to having them again! I love the blue homemade tortillas. Such a nice touch. We also have the regular margarita with a little bit of passionfruit juice and I had a sugar post to assault rib. Ugly recommend! It really was a nice tasty treat. Service was great. The ambience was great. Definitely looking forward to going back.

Yelp
Came here for a friend's birthday lunch. When we were seated we ordered chips and salsa along with 2 espresso martinis and a Paloma. Two of us ordered the chicken tacos and another friend has the shrimp tacos. Our server dropped off the chips and no salsa and water. Soon after our tacos came. Still no salsa and no drinks. We had to ask for the salsa which finally came. And after we started eating, then came our drink order. The tacos were okay. Two small street tacos for $16 seems on the pricey side. My friend didn't like the espresso martini after taking a small sip. She told our waiter that the espresso tasted burnt and too strong. Our waitress said she'll take it off our check. After I got home, I looked at the check and realized she didn't take the one espresso martini off the bill. Overall the food was okay. Service was lacking. Won't be coming back as there's much better taquerias around.

Yelp
I wish I could say Jaime Taqueria was better because I love Jame Enoteca but it's just not. The space is pretty but the food is pretty meh and we even went on Taco Tuesday when the tacos were cheap but I feel like I can make better tacos myself.

Yelp
Wow! Just so delicious all around, I'm so impressed! The margs (watermelon was my fave), local craft beer for my husband, apps, and tacos were all amazing! Not to mention the hospitality from the manager Hillary and our server who was wonderful as well! The decor is so cute - the pink chairs especially and I love having the option for indoors or patio dining! What a gem! But let's go back to the food, tacos are so flavorful and big! The guacamole's are all incredible, order the trio to get the full experience! On top of that fresh perfectly salted chips are a no brainer when it comes to Mexican food and they nailed it! Can't wait to go back and try the bloody Maria cart on the brunch menu! Definitely recommend this place!

Yelp
This restaurant recently opened up in my neighborhood and my husband and I stopped by there one Saturday afternoon for a late lunch. The ambience is lovely and we were seated in the very back. We ordered the chips and all the salsas, esquite, beans to share. I ordered the chicken tacos as my entree and Chris got the carnitas tacos. Everything was delicious. The beans were creamy and smooth and exactly what you're looking for. I think we tried all the different salsas; each tasted unique in its own special way. The hostess was very friendly and kind and so was our waitress, although I hate to say she kind of disappeared after she took our food order. In any regards, the other staff in attendance were attentive. I will be back to try the other menu items!

Yelp
An excellent new spot from the couple behind Jame Enoteca, Jemma and Ospi. This location previously housed Tapizon and the interior was really well decorated. Jaime put their own vibe on things now. The food is high-end Mexican with a California spin. The place was lively and packed with other smiling customers here on this second weekend. Servers were super nice. We ordered the kale salad, the guacamole, the corn, beans a very spicy salsa, handmade tortillas and four of their taco options... most of the menu, essentially. Everything was excellent, drinks as well. They have a few parking spots but street parking isn't difficult. Recommend them for a date, business meeting, small group or even a family dinner like we did.

Yelp
Came here for taco Tuesday and it was great! I really enjoyed the fiery passion margarita. It was the perfect amount of spice for a drink! They have $10 orders of 2 tacos for taco Tuesday and they are a decent size so we split two orders between the two of us which was perfect, 1 of the carnitas and 1 of the quesabirria. Both were delicious! We also enjoyed the Jamie hold the "I" guac. Service was great and the place is nicely decorated although a bit small. Street parking was easy even though the restaurant was packed.

Yelp
Main Street just got a new heartbeat. Jackson Kalb has done it again. Known for Jame, Ospi, and Gemma, his latest venture, ¡Jaime! Taqueria, brings his signature charm and culinary brilliance to the heart of El Segundo--and it's an instant classic. Nestled right on Main Street, the indoor/outdoor space is cozy and vibrant, with carefully curated music that matches the vibe without overwhelming it. The staff is warm and welcoming--special shoutout to Rocio, whose hospitality made our visit feel like a celebration. Let's talk food: the tacos are chef's kiss--perfectly portioned and bursting with flavor. The Carnitas are crispy and rich, but the real standout is the Beef Cheek Quesabirria--tender, juicy, and packed with deep, slow-cooked intensity. Pair that with their Sweet Corn Esquites - Trust me. Brown butter, parmesan crema, house chile powder--it's not just a side, it's a statement. The chips are handmade, small-batch, cut from heirloom corn. Crisped like they've got something to prove. And that chef's salsa bar? Four choices, one of which redefines the word "umami." You won't regret it. Now the drinks. The ¡ANANAS! is fire and fruit in a glass--spicy tequilas, pineapple, cucumber, habanero. It doesn't ask permission. The WATERMELON? Clean. Cool. Disarming. Both are worth the trip alone, and there are many more to try! And don't sleep on the lunch special--two tacos and a margarita for $25. A killer deal, especially with this quality. And Jackson? He's there. Shaking hands. Sharing stories. Building something personal. That's not common. That's leadership. ¡Jaime! isn't just a place to eat. It's a place to remember.

Yelp
I was really hoping to love this place. However it really fell short. The price points are too high. The food is not great. Caesar salad was inedible. I don't quite understand the wine list (one red?). I left hungry and disappointed.

Yelp
Almost perfect little neighborhood gem. visited here for the first time during their soft opening about a week or 2 in. Highlights. Interior is cozy, warm and inviting. Service: prompt and welcoming. Food: 4/5 .. But I think it's because they're dialing in their process w staff and ingredients. One of my sides (kale salad was delicious but a little too heavy on what seemed like a mayo type dressing.. I know that's not good if you're sensitive to seed oils. But the tacos were delicious and hearty. Esquire was delicious and their Kampachi was nice and cool like I like it. Full of flavor too. The decor is kinda funny .. My gf and I chuckled after pointing out that the owner must be into boobs cause they're everywhere lol. Colorful and eye catching nonetheless I live in the area, so we hope to be back to see how our experience is next time.

Yelp
We really enjoy their other restaurant, Jame, so we gave this a try. Expensive, fancy Mexican food is usually not a good combo, and this reinforced that. I did really enjoy their margarita. I could not find a salsa I liked to go with their chips. I had a fish taco and it was high quality ingredients, but not very tasty. My wife had a filet mignon taco, and again, the ingredients are high quality and the meat was very tender, but the spices used gave it a flavor I did not like. The rice and beans were fine. We did enjoy the kale salad which we always get at the other restaurant. It had a couple of different things in it for the Mexican flavor and we liked it. I still feel like if you want Mexican food, go to your favorite dive joint. I don't think paying fancy food prices for fancy Mexican food is a rewarding experience.

Yelp
I really wanted to love this place since I'm such a fan of Ospi and Jame Enoteca, but it just didn't quite hit the mark for me. To be fair, I visited on their second night of opening, so some hiccups are expected. The space itself is stunning--beautiful building and aesthetic, and I love the concept of the menu. That said, the flavors were underwhelming. Most dishes needed more seasoning, and overall, things felt a bit bland. The Paloma was watery, though I will say the Oaxacan Old Fashioned was one of the best I've had in LA. The tacos were good, but for the price, I expected more--some complimentary house chips or a variety of salsas would've gone a long way. I enjoyed the Kanpachi ceviche, but oddly, it didn't come with chips (only the guac did). Parking can be tricky since there's no dedicated lot, but there's usually street or neighborhood parking nearby in El Segundo. The staff was friendly and welcoming, though there are still some service and timing kinks to work out. Overall, I see the potential and hope things tighten up with time. Remember to make a reservation! We had patio seating which had a nice ambiance and there are space heaters so you don't be afraid of the weather :)

Yelp
No reservation needed for a party of 3 for lunch on a Monday. Cute, modern indoor/outdoor space. Highlights include: bright tomatillo salsa on the taquitos that didn't wreck the roof of my mouth, tasty maitake al pastor tacos with toasted quinoa for that textural hit, and refreshing (and stiff) margaritas. Their tres leches cake compares favorably to many options from Hawthorne and Gardena. Like many others, I love a good food truck or street stall taco. ¡Jaime! isn't that, but it's great. Blue corn tortillas and crispy griddled slices of cheese? C'mon. We'll be back!

Yelp
Everything was SO GOOD. Our family of 3 met up with another family of 3 and we all loved the experience. Literally everything we ate and drank was delicious. If you're looking for straight-forward, standard Mexican food then this place will exceed your expectations with elevated and creative flavor profiles. Their menu has lots of great options for vegetarians, meat eaters and picky kiddos. I found the atmosphere to be warm and inviting and the service to friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
i like my tacos cheap and from a truck parked at a gas station. but oh boy did this place blow my mind.... everything was unbelievably delicious (nothing was salty at all !!) and the food came out quickly. the drinks aren't very strong though, so prob not worth the price. very clean and pretty inside and there are lots of servers around to help! staff is sweet chips & salsa + maizena guacamole - amazing no notes shrimp ceviche is a little spicy and its so tasty. skip the kanpachi ceviche caesar salad - 11/10 the croutons stole the show sweet corn esquites - omfg!!! sooo buttery and yummy and not salty from the cheese at all (the best part!) beef cheek taco - yes! shrimp taco - eh, nothing too special. i prefer the shrimp ceviche most def

Yelp
The staff - quality people. Gotta recognize Angel and a front of house young woman(brown, burley hair). Both were absolutely excellent people. They make this joint feel like a neighborhood spot. - to the owners, keep this staff happy as they are the life of this restaurant. The food's legit too - tacos and the apps are solid. Loved the beef cheek taco and the carnitas was equally great - use the birria on the carnitas too. That was a fabulous combo. The con of this experience: The guacamole - duuuuude... 9$ for a small happy hour bowl of guac??? I get avocados are expensive but not THAT expensive. Cmon now... The vibe - I wanted to steal a pint glass. Those are fun to drink a Mayberry IPA out of. BTW - the Mayberry pairs well with the carnitas and birria.

Yelp
I went for happy hour/dinner tonight with three of my friends. The service was fantastic. The cocktails were so good and strong. The crunchy guacamole is next level. I loved the corn and the chips with the different types of salsa! But the sweet potato taco was my favorite. Don't forget the end with the vanilla sundae. I am so full and so happy. I will definitely return. It's also such a cute date night spot. Loved the decor

Yelp
Ambience was great, drinks are great, service was excellent. The food could use some work. There was a lack of flavor in a few of the dishes we ordered. The Pozole in particular could be served with more broth, it came with very little broth so we asked for more. It was also missing something to really give it that flavorful factor. Transparently the filet mignon taco was not good. It had zero flavor and not a great after taste. All in all we will be back, but hoping there will be more attention to detail when it comes to the flavoring and portions of the food.

Yelp
I really wanted to like this place because it's so close to my brothers house and we loved Tapizon but it really just missed the mark. Our waitress was really sweet and talked all of our concerns about spicy food out to make sure we ordered things we would like. Off the happy hour menu, we got the Maize guacamole, sweet potato taco, and beef cheek quesabirria. We also ordered the mushroom pastor tacos. I'm really not sure what they put on the mushroom tacos but they had an odd flavor that made them hard to eat. The quesabirria wasn't like any I've ever had before, it just had a flat piece of cooked cheese on it and was missing the abundance of cheese you normally see with a quesabirria. The meat itself had an odd texture and very little flavor. The sweet potato taco was the star of the show, but the lack of attention to detail by the kitchen was obvious as the tortilla came out ripped almost fully in half so we ate it with a fork and knife. The tortillas are all delicious and homemade. The guacamole was solid, but I wouldn't pay regular price for the small portion as it wasn't anything special to write home about. The restaurant itself is mostly decorated beautifully but has some random posters that confuse the vibe. Are we doing upscale Cáli-mex or tequila bar? Choosing one and sticking to it would be helpful. Super bummed because the staff were very nice and the location is awesome but the food needs a lot of work at those prices. Definitely glad we checked it out at happy hour and not full price and didn't order beverages.

Yelp
We loved Jame Enoteca when it first opened, and also Ospi. So we were thrilled to see another restaurant from that team open in El Segundo. We knew we were going to get exceptional cuisine made with creativity and top-notch ingredients. We've been twice and enjoyed everything we ate. The carnitas tacos were our favorite, with the beef cheek a close second, The fresh blue corn tortillas filled with many savory ingredients and crispy cheese made for a unique, satisfying taste. I only wish the filet mignon taco had more zing (a little bland). The potato/cheese taquitos-- very softly textured and tasty. The ceviches were also good, and adding asian pear to the shrimp was a unique touch. The chips and guac are first rate. The drinks-- all first-rate, from the classic margarita to the old-fashioned to the exclusive El Segundo Brewery ales. And the tres leches dessert was divine. The first weeks jitters from the young staff were expected, and we hope they continue to tinker with the cuisine to maintain their high quality and creative flair. The place is usually packed, so best to get a reservation.

Yelp
The food at this spot was delicious. We ordered a lot of food: the Guac trio, taquitos, the salad that had cornbread wontons (delicious!!) and 3 tacos. The salad was so yummy and done so perfectly, and was very unique. The fish taco, shrimp, and beef-cheek, they were all amazing! I was blown away by the service. Normally at a newer spot like this you expect some sort of stuffiness from the staff, but there was zero of that. They were all so kind, even the food runners. You could tell everyone working there was happy to be there and having fun. I think that's just the vibe in el segundo and they did a good job matching it with hiring really kind people. The restaurant looks great compared to the one that was there previously. They really opened it up and made it bright and airy. Definitely will be going back soon!

Yelp
This is tough because I love Jame, but I was very disappointed with my first Jaime Taqueria experience. I will cut them a little slack because we went on Cinco de Mayo, but the service was poor, we waited 45 minutes for our table with a reservation and the food was mediocre across the board. Some of the appetizers were okay and the guacamole was excellent. The tacos were underwhelming. I imagine they will improve with time, but not a great first impression.

Yelp
One of those places that you think is pretty good, but not sure if you would go back. Got the filet tacos which were pretty good. But not a fan of the crispy cheese. The beans were so so. Didn't care for the rice that much, they have these crunchy corn bits in the rice, which seems like you're eating rice that is dried out from sitting around all day. The corn was pretty good. So I leave with an undecided review.

Yelp
Tacos were ok, kind of expensive but I guess that's what El Segundo people are willing to pay for food. Beer is about 2 bucks more expensive than anywhere else, not sure why. Guess beer in this location is more special than others?

Yelp
Brand New Mexican place in El Segundo and I had to come check it out. It's new and they are still figuring out some things. We started with the shrimp ceviche which was full of flavor, probably one of my favorites things we ordered. The queso fundido wasn't great, had lots of grease just sitting on top and very salty. The steak tacos was good and it was very filling. Their spicy margarita was a bit too sweet for my liking but good overall. My friend had the ribeye and she was very disappointed with it. And of course we ended dinner with the tres leches which was delicious. Overall it was okay and hopefully they can figure out a few more things.

Yelp
Drinks are good but expensive and food is expensive. My hubby wanted al pastor and carne asada tacos and no can do. I had potato and cheese taquitos and they were good but that was an appetizer. Service was good. I would have loved some chips and salsa but looks like they don't do that. They did have us wait 25 minutes due to no reservations made.

Yelp
We went there last night and the food was excellent, service very good and the ambiance was also pleasant and comfortable. The only thing I didn't like and it was a minor thing, but the music was just a little bit loud. The music selection was fine though. We will go again and recommend it to my friends!!

Yelp
***Update to my original review written on 5/24/25. Service brought this review to a 1 star*** New- Update to my original review (posted below): This further reinforces my initial concerns about the service at ¡Jaime! Taqueria. After posting my review, the manager responded and asked me to give him a call. I appreciated the gesture and followed up, speaking with D'Andrew (the manager), who offered me a gift card as an incentive to give the restaurant another try. I accepted, and he mentioned it would be texted to me within 24 hours. This conversation happened on Tuesday, May 27. As of Sunday, June 1, 2025, I still haven't received anything. I called the restaurant to follow up and was told by an employee that the manager on duty was someone named Maddie (or Matty/Mattie). When I asked for her, she answered and said she was just the hostess. Confused, I called back about five hours later and finally got in touch with D'Andrew again. He claimed he had sent the gift card to the correct number and said he would cancel the text and email it to me instead. Again, as of Sunday, June 1, 2025, I still have nothing-no text, no email, no follow-up. At this point, I honestly don't even think the takeout is worth it. Be very, very, very cautious when dining here. A place can have good food, but if the service and management can't follow through on even the simplest commitments, it really says alot.

Yelp
Came here today with my dad to celebrate his birthday, little did he know his brother had also flown out to surprise him. Jalisa was SO excited to help us out, hooked my uncle up with an apron and a Jaime shirt and made our day so special. My dad was SO surprised. The food was phenomenal, the decor (aside from some questionable wall art) gave great ambiance and I will absolutely be back!

Yelp
Place was awesome. Great vibe, great tacos. We had a bunch of them but the beef cheek one stood out. The queso fondito was probably my fav! The ceviche was fresh and awesome too!

Yelp
The food here is tasty, but it feels overpriced for what you get. It's even more expensive than Sausal, yet doesn't offer the same value. I was really hoping to love it since I'm a big fan of their other spot up the street, but the portions are small and the drinks are steep. Left feeling a bit disappointed.

Yelp
Food was great. Service was great. AI "art" on the walls in and by the restrooms was both lame and sexist. Perhaps consider putting art created by a human on the walls that isn't focused on the bust size of the subject.
