"Standout Thai food that’s packed with flavor is offered at Jaiya, which originated in Elmhurst in 1978 and currently has outposts in Murray Hill and the UES. In addition to Bangkok-style classics, the menu includes some Indian dishes and Chinese stir-fries, with nearly every dish type available (soups, noodles, rice dishes, etc.) with proteins that range from standard tofu or chicken to the more exotic, like frog legs. The spiciest of dishes, like the Thai curries, truly pack heat." - Alexandra Ilyashov

We have been eating at Jaiya for over a decade now, and the experience has always been amazing. Tom Yum Soup is an amazing starter, we have been getting it every time we dine there. Another delicious starter is the papaya salad. For our main meal, we ordered Red Curry, Drunken Noodles, Pad Thai, and Panang Curry, which were all amazing. One tip is to ask them for either mild or medium spice level because the spicy level is incredibly spicy. Sadly, we heard that they are closing on January 1st, 2023. This made us very sad, but they gave us 2 plates as a souvenir. We are very sad that the restaurant is closing, so please visit before it closes. Overall, Jaiya has been an amazing restaurant for 45 years, since 1978!

I realized that I never posted my review. I came here about a year ago and back here again today. Sadly Jan 1st was their last day and glad I got to have it one last time. Pictures are from a year ago and from yesterday. Ordered the special sauce fish (red snapper), shrimp pad Thai, and seafood basil fried rice. Definitely coming back here for the pad Thai and the red snapper. It was so good.

Went there on dec 25 for dinner. We were greeted by a very nice and polite lady dressed in red for the Christmas theme, she showed us the table. They have plenty of vegetarian options. The food was really good, we specially liked the pad thai. The Panag curry was good but we were hoping to get a mix of veggies and tofu, we forgot to mention that while ordering so wouldn’t hold that against them. Overall we loved the dishes and had a good time here

My friends use to love this place and they had been REGULARS from 2018-2020 Feb. they ordered the food at least twice a week. At least. Especially, the chile and basil tofu and coconut soup. The coconut soup is still good. But after COVID, the standard has significantly reduced. The food is at best average. They took forever to bring the drinks out. When the drinks finally came out. My friend’s drink was aesthetically on fire which was cool. But then, the fire cracked the glass and they were very nonchalant about it. It is really sad because this place use to be really really good before COVID. One of my friends even moved back to NYC because she missed the basil tofu at Jaiya and she was so disappointed.

Google
Service was great.. Food not quite the best Thai.. There's always a long wait here and it's quite popular.. Cocktails and soups are amazing.. Vegetarian options available.. Don't know why the place is so expensive! Spent 450+ for a party of 9!

Google
Amazing Thai food. One of the best in the NYC. I have been here at least 6 times and never ever disappointed - that’s why a 5* rating. You can’t go wrong with food here. Drinks as well are amazing and staff is courteous with a quick service Since the place is small in seating space - you will need to wait for at least 30 mins on weekends. About good - amazing ! We love there volcano Tom yum soup and dumplings . The roasted garlic on dumplings adds a flavor bomb. Main dishes are so very good be it wok (basil and ginger) my favorite. Red curry Panama curry (little sweet) or pad Thai or basil friend rice . It’s all so very good. Pro tip - ask for medium spicy which is 8 out of 10 and people who can handle spice they also should take medium spicy :)

Google
Nice date spot, I got the Basil Fried Rice and he got the Indian Curry. You cant really go wrong with Basil Fried Rice, it was tasty. He wasnt as enthused with his dish. For appetizers we ordered the chicken puff pastry which was pretty good with a sweet dipping sauce. I liked the decor, the service was great too. Will try the UES location just for fun😉

Google
My experience with Jaiya can be summarized as follows: don't get the mild, there's so many more flavors to be experienced if you're willing to explore with your palate. Get the fish, it's a must-have. Noodles of your preference as an accompaniment will work great too!

Sweta G.

Yelp
I loved their food but Tom yum soup was super spicy... Usually medium spicy is what I can tolerate in Thai but this time it burnt our taste buds ...no joke guys listen to ur server and stick to mild... Ambience was nice ..restrooms were clean .. A classy place for dinner... Except I felt like servers rushed us a lot... They were literally on our head to take away the plates.. Btw don't forget to try their volcano ice cream!!!! Did I not say it was amazing Have your reservation in advance n be 10 min before time to get your table or they will give it to someone else.

Yelp
Jaiya Thai had some of the best Thai food I've had in NYC. Their drunken noodles were of the perfect consistency and absorbed all the Asian/Thai flavors. The panang curry's coconut milk truly made the dish and paired super well with their fried tofu. However my favorite part of the meal was the spice. As an extremely spicy eater, Jaiya Thai was able to cook all their dishes to be Thai Hot without compromising the taste!

Rachel K.

Yelp
Pretty good! The chicken skewers came with 2 different kinds of dipping sauces and were quite tasty. A little sweet for my taste, but overall quite good to share. I forgot to take a photo, but I got the pork pad see ew and my friend got the pork drunk man noodles and both were quite tasty! But the most amazing noodles I've ever eaten, but very nice. There was no wait time on a Friday at 6pm and the drinks were delicious! Would go again if I had a hankering for Thai food.

Yelp
Uh yeah- don't go here. I came here once, a very long time ago and now realize there's a reason why I never came again. I heard they were closing and so decided to try it again once more. I know they're closing in a few days but I'm only writing this review incase there are people debating whether or not to go here. Save yourself the time and disappointment. They've ran out of a lot of their dishes (I get it- they're closing) but the food is honestly sub par. I really don't get the hype. We ordered the Tom yum soup (that was good) and the green curry (absolutely lacking flavor) and their drunken noodles (which were tangy? That's not normal). Also, they don't give rice with their curry, it's a separate order. There are some great Thai places around this area, so I'd recommend looking those up before considering this place.

Yelp
Came here for a quick lunch with a friend. Lunch menu was offered - 2 courses for approx. $12 and up depending on protein. We ordered Pad See Ew and Jaiya fried rice as entrees. Both were pretty delicious. Tom yum soup or salad was offered as appetizer. My friend is vegetarian and the restaurant ensured the sauces used were vegetarian friendly. We are indoors and the restaurant is adhering to Covid 19 protocols - temperature checks & contact tracing were requested in addition to mask requirements.

Najwa G.

Yelp
They say that Jaiya is one of the oldest Thai restaurants in NYC and also one that truly does make their food spicy (when requested) and I can attest that this is indeed true. When I requested my food to be spicy, the waitress asked me if I was sure which made me take a strep back and request a "level down" and some hot sauce on the side. This in and of itself was quite spicy so I can't imagine a whole dish covered in it albeit I can handle spicy food relatively well (if I do say so myself)! The portion sizes for lunch are huge as well.

Sejal M.

Yelp
Just wow. Hands down one of the best Thai spots in the city. Super authentic, vibey and affordable. Doesn't get much better than that. Seated upon arrival on a Wednesday night and the service was also quick. My friend and I split the tom yum soup which was a show in itself as well as the pineapple fried rice. Not sure what went into both of those things but we cleaned our plates. It was so delicious and rich in flavor. The pineapple fried rice had some sort of buttery taste to it, unlike any other fried rice I've ever had. Definitely more lowkey than your typical Thai Villa spot, but cuter for a date night or an intimate meal. Highly recommend!

Yelp
TL;DR: Tasty. Spicy. Expensive We (party of 5) ordered this based on a friend's recommendation. We mostly got the veggie options, and we finished ALL of the exorbitant amount of food we got. It was all delicious, and I think it was great for people looking for veg options. One other thing- their hottest spice option (the one I got) was everything I wanted it to be. I have searched far and wide for this level of heat, and Jaiya doesn't pull any punches. However, I can't seem to get over how much it all came out to be. To put things in perspective with a few more details: - Meals for 5 people delivered through yelp (with apps) came out to $200 - No rice included with entrees - I fell in love with the hottest option (hot don't cry) but it cost an extra $3 which was something strange I've never seen before. Honestly... If an entree or lunch item came with rice, and the hottest option didn't cost an extra $3 I would probably be all over this much more often.

Adhrit S.

Yelp
My food was very tasty and a solid portion. Quite expensive and everyone in my party struggled with the spice level. They did give us a disclaimer, but medium spice shouldn't be setting a bunch of Indian peoples' mouths on fire lol

Dining D.

Yelp
Always great. Always a good time. Food is always taste and fresh. We had: Volcano Shrimp Tom Yum (5/5) super spicy. Perfect for the rainy day Calamari (3.5/5) pretty much what you would expect. Crunchy. Spring rolls (4/5) Dumplings (5/5) Crispy fried duck with tamarind sauce (5/5) excellent. Crispy and very very tasty. Highly recommend Pad Thai shrimp (4.5/5) Sweet and sour chicken (3/5) Overall--- highly recommend. No wait seated upon entering. Fantastic staff. They been gave up two commutative plates as gift. It was their anniversary Awesome!

Yelp
Unfortunately this time around at Jaiya wasn't the best. I haven't been here in over 7 years so I could only assume they hired a new chef. Our food was oily and bland and for Thai food you wouldn't expect that. I ordered the drunken man noodles with chicken and shrimp with mild spice. When I received my meal and anxiously dived in for my first bite there was zero spice in the dish. I then asked for some pepper to add to my dish she brought some chili oil and chili powder. The oil had no heat in it but the chili powder did but sad to say I got the heat but still no flavor. Would I be going back.....probably not!

Impreet S.

Yelp
One of the good spicy Thai spots in the city. Great for date nights too, my first time here was on a date I love how flavorful the food is, never disappoints.. would definitely recommend if you're looking for spicy Thai food. Disclaimer - their medium is pretty spicy so I always go for mild to medium spice level

Ahiliya N.

Yelp
As we all know, I am a fan of spicy food. My friend recommended this spot for us to met for our monthly dinner hang because she thought the food would blow me out of this world spice-wise, so I was very excited going in. We started with the veggie spring rolls, which were surprisingly perfectly fried and made with a delicious assortment of veggies. For my main, I ordered the green curry with fried tofu. I asked for my food thai hot, but the waitress made me feel hesitant about it after she said she wouldn't be able to return the food if I wasn't able to eat it. I decided to pick the medium-hot level. The curry was good, if not a little watery. I rarely enjoy the tofu more than the curry in green curry, but in this case, I thought the tofu outshined the curry by far. It also wasn't nearly as spicy as I thought. My friend got the penang curry (medium hot) with chicken. I usually don't like penang curry, but I thought the flavor of it was better than that of the green curry. It was richer, smoother, and a little spicier. I also think it's ridiculous that rice doesn't come with the curries and has to be purchased separately. Overall, not bad Thai food, but not good enough for me to make the trek back just for it. It was also significantly pricier compared to other Thai restaurants for food that I wouldn't consider as good.

Yelp
I've been coming to Jaiya Thai for years. Now that I have moved from NYC, I dream of coming right when I land. We did just that for my birthday weekend. I order the same thing each time and we are in and out. I order the Chili Chicken, Jaiya Special Sauce with the whole fish...wow with fried rice. When I have more time the Volcanic Tom Yum or Coconut Tom Kha is a must along with the tempura eggplant app, y'all about spice!! Each dish is full of flavor and delicious heat that I crave and have not found anywhere o have been. I truly love this place and is in my top 5 for life!!

Jenna B.

Yelp
Decided to order from here because of the convenience and the food was quite oily and lacked flavor. There's definitely better thai in the city.

Mahniya S.

Yelp
Cute Thai restaurant -- not too appealing on the outside but nice interior decor. It is smaller so would make a reservation given limited seating during COVID. The Lychee martinis were really good - a bit on the sweeter side which I liked. The eggplant appetizer (forget exact name) was amazing; it was fried on the outside and according to my Thai friend not always offered so would definitely suggest ordering it here!! The Panang curry was thicker and quite flavorful. The basil chicken was also good. Ordered both with mild spice which to me was still on the spicer side and I'm someone who can handle spice!! Something to be aware of if you are someone whose not a fan of too much spice

Sandeep M.

Yelp
The volcanic Tom Yum soup is epic. Love the vegetarian (no fish sauce) options. The servers can be less communicative and a bit less warm but if you ask relevant questions they answer well. FEAST Review- overall 4/5 Food: 4/5 food is on spicy side. Great vegetarian options without fish sauce preps available. Make sure to know your spice level before you order. High is very high. Eat: 4/5 Tom Yum Soup, Thai curries noodles. Ambience: 3/5 less space but seating has not been much a problem. Service: 3.5/5 can improve in patience with new customers. Time: 4/5 quick in service

Yelp
Loved this place. Sad to see them go. Lots of memories during so many seasons of my life here.

Mike S.

Yelp
A friend of mine highly recommended this place. I came here on a rainy day. We liked the restaurant. It's a small but trendy place. It has nice modern decorations. The volcanic tum yum soup definitely wowed me. It's a little bit salty and seasoning is pretty heavy lMy friend and I ordered two kinds of duck. They were pretty good. The portion was big. The food was very filling. I liked the flavors. Duck was roasted to crispy. Our dessert Lychee Sticky rice was excellent. It was my first time to have that and it definitely impressed me. (But we were to full to finish the dessert lol. Service was good. Waiters were pretty attentive. However, the bill was a little bit more expensive than I expected. Overall, I like this place. It's pretty decent Thai food with good service and vibe.

Rebecca K.

Yelp
This was my first time coming here and sadly it closed due to aftermaths of COVID 19. I tried other thai places in NYC and never loved the curry until I came to Jaiya. Their food is spicy but both red and green curry was amazing and not too creamy/heavy. The drunken noodles were good, and the TOM YUM was quite good! It wasn't too salty or sour, and had great flavor with a nice kick to it. If I recall correctly, it may be because they don't add fish sauce in it. Very sad that I just discovered this restaurant a day before it officially closed. If anyone else knows about a great place with similar flavors to Jaiya, please please let me know.

Sam S.

Yelp
Heard a lot about Jaiya finally got the opportunity to visit. This location we had a brief wait but we sat at the bar and enjoyed some sangha beer. They don't have any beer on tap and only small selection of beers. But good service at the bar. Food wise we got the dumplings they were pretty good. For entrees I got the pad Thai. It was alright, the flavors were decent could of had a lot more flavor. The red curry was really good. The drunken noodles looked great! Next time I would try that. Dessert was alright. Over all decent Thai food place good service decent food. Wouldn't go out of my way to visit but not bad if your near by.

Sonja K.

Yelp
My favorite Thai place in nyc!!! The food is always AMAZING. Started off with the vegetarian tom yom soup which was delicious, perfectly sour but balanced. This was quite spicy as we asked for 5/10 spice, would get 3/10 next time. We then shared chicken satay which was amazing as usual, comes with a peanut sauce and another sweet vinegar sauce. For main entree we shared the veggie drunken noodles and veggie pineapple fried rice, both where amazing this time asked for spice level 3/10 which was perfect for us. I've been here a few times, have tried countless Thai spots in nyc, this one hits it out of thr park everytime!

Phuonggy P.

Yelp
Expensive, no free rice, and 18% GRATUITY TAX FOR PARTY OF 2 OR ABOVE Hello? Really? And $1 per small bowl of rice

Amit M.

Yelp
I've been here a few times now, at both Kips Bay and Midtown location. I would say this is definitely one of the best Thai restaurants in NYC. The food here is so good and never disappoints. I highly recommend the volcanic tom yum soup as a starter. It's served in a bowl on top of a burner, so the soup remains hot while it's at your table. The soup is super spicy, so if you can't handle spicy, I would definitely make sure you request a lower spice. All the noodle and curry dishes are really good. I'm a big fan of the Panang curry. Also, it's not on the menu, but try ordering the spicy red sauce with a meat of your choice. It's a secret menu sauce, but hands down one of the best curries I've ever had. I ordered it with chicken and white rice and it was the best curry I've had. It is pretty spicy though, so if you're not good with spicy, I wouldn't order this.

Payal L.

Yelp
I'm disappointed I have to write a bad review for Jaiya (3rd & 28th location). I was celebrating mine and my brother-in-law's birthdays and upon multiple recommendations, chose Jaiya for dinner. From the beginning, the service was SLOW. We brought a bottle of champagne and 2 bottles of wine ($20 corkage, each bottle) -- we asked our waitress to chill the champagne as we wanted it post-dinner and in the meantime, open the wine and serve it. FYI, Jaiya does NOT have a decanter. 10 minutes must have passed, and nobody came to open the wine bottles. Once we were served round 1 of wine, nobody ever came around to refill our glass or start pouring the second bottle. That is just the bad service for drinks. Now let's get to the actual food. The food is flavorful. My friends were spot on about the good food. We ordered at least one thing from every section and ate family style! I had asked the waitress for a birthday dessert for my brother in law -- JAIYA is literally the only place i've been to in the world (yes the world) that does not offer anything complimentary for the actual birthday person. That's fine, I got the ice cream dessert that is lit up on fire -- it was fun and instagram worthy! We hadn't finished dessert, nor our champagne and the waitress kept bringing our check to the table. Mind you they were NOT closing and plenty of tables were still enjoying their food. Also, I specifically said two people would split the bill so the birthday guy doesn't know -- I had requested to be called to the side so I could review & approve the charges. Why would you bring the check to the table and rush our party of 10 people when half your restaurant is still dining? The customer service was so rude and unfortunate on such a joyous night of TWO celebrations that it ruined the mood and we took our money for more alcohol to another bar.

Amit P.

Yelp
Great Place for Thai food. Our go-to Place in NYC for Thai. The food is delicious and service and ambiance is awesome!

Aanchal K.

Yelp
I've known about Jaiya since I was maybe 10 years old, because they used to have a restaurant in Long Island! They then relocated to the city, and I was reunited with it when I started going to school in the city. The one rule to remember at Jaiya, is that spicy means SPICY. I once got their basil chicken lunch special, medium, and cried throughout my whole meal. It was my own fault, but it was still delicious. Jaiya's Tom Yum soup is to die for. It easily feeds 3 people so keep that in mind. It tastes best with shrimp. The best dish at Jaiya is their king crab with special sauce. Their special sauce is this sweet, spicy, tangy, basil kind of sauce that is only found at Jaiya. If you're coming here for the first time, get whatever you prefer, in special sauce. Eating the crab is fairly expensive, and hard to eat. You have to work for your food and crack the shell and what not, and the crab doesn't always have a lot of meat (or at least not as much as I'd like). The shrimp in special sauce is the second best at Jaiya, and then the beef. It's easier to eat the beef because you don't have to pick the shrimp shells. You can get extra sauce on your entree for an additional fee- that's how you know this stuff is good. My only issue with Jaiya, overall, is that it's overpriced for thai food especially in this area. I understand the special sauce costs more, but in general their basic foods are more expensive than most. If you're not coming for the special sauce or tom yum, I suggest going somewhere else because it is more pricey here.

Mic L.

Yelp
Best Thai place I have eaten at in years. Not only exquisite flavors but do do delicate and fresh.

Roma M.

Yelp
We made a reservation for a party of 8 people for 9 pm on a Saturday. Once we arrived, we were asked to wait for 32 more minutes before we got a table. The place is really small with small tables. 8 of us sat on a table for 6 people. The servers were quick and took our order. The red snapper fish was really delicious. You can ask them to give you fillet so it's easier and less messier to eat. Their spice levels are a level up comoared to any normal thai place. We usually eat max spicy at every other place but here medium was also quite spicy. We surely couldn't have taken the hottest one. Their Tom yum soup was also very tasty. Thai iced tea was really good too. Overall amazing food, good service but long lines and long wait times given their small space. Try to go there on a weekday for lunch.

Prianka S.

Yelp
The Tom yum soup here is AMAZING. Your nose will be dripping from the spice level but you will still want to eat it. The Panang curry is so good too. This restaurant is on the pricier side but well worth your money. Really nice ambiance inside too. Hands down one of the best Thai restaurants in NYC

Anurag M.

Yelp
Even mild was very spicy. Overpriced, small portions and the only flavor is spice. Did not like the food. Won't visit again.

Hannah S.

Yelp
i love this place!!! great for a quick meal or the start of a night out- great atmosphere and energy. The food is SPICY, so make sure to check with waitress if you can't handle it. Drunken noods we're so fabulous and all the apps are amazing. 10/10 no complaints

Vartika S.

Yelp
Love the food .. one of my favorite Thai restaurants in the city. Been there several times over the years. Love the Tom Yum soup and red curry. Their mango over sticky rice is one of my favorite desserts.

Shayna F.

Yelp
Their menu is such a shitty layout that I ended up ordering the wrong item. When I brought this to their attention all they said was that it was my fault. It wasn't even anything I could palette, it was an inferno. So it was an overpriced meal I couldn't eat. COVID is hard times but this was a terrible impression. I will never go back. I was looking to order the Massaman but with the layout I ended up ordering the jungle.

Roshni C.

Yelp
Probably one of the WORST dining experiences I have had in an extremely long time. Jaiya Thai used to be a go-to spot for my extended family and I for a while now. Over the years we quickly became regulars where we would devour our favorites like the volcano tom yum soup and crab with special sauce. However, it has substantially DOWNGRADED within the recent years and my dining experience this past Sunday night proved that to the T. From the second we walked into the door we were greeted with awful service. While they do NOT take reservations, the receptionist on the phone told me prior to arriving that he would be able to accomodate us once my party and I walked in at 9 o' clock. Not only did we have to wait an additional 60 minutes upon arriving, but also it did not seem as though there was any sort of organization to this reservation system that they were so diligently following... After having waited for 60 minutes, we were seated at a crowded small table that completely smelled as if we were sitting in the bottom of a SEWER. As for the food, we ordered naked shrimp which was good, volcano tom yum soup which was really tasty, red snapper with special sauce which was OK, BURNT drunken man noodles with tofu, and BURNT basil fried rice with vegetables. Another annoying side note - all this food arrived in a SCATTERED manner which made us unable to eat anything together, which is usually what is preferred in asian cuisine as it is family style...... Both the drunken man noodles and basil fried rice were BURNT TO A CRISP and were completely UNEATABLE. After having complained to our server, she made a nasty remark about how we are complaining and how we should understand because it too crazy of a night for the restaurant staff. I'm sorry but if our food is burnt should we NOT BE SAYING SOMETHING?!?! 15 minutes later the server brought out new dishes (which in this time made the fish and all the other dishes EVEN MORE COLD...) The second dishes which were brought out seemed as if the food was HALF MISSING as if the staff was trying to cheap out on fixing the order correctly. I truly understand how difficult the service industry can be and how extremely hectic it can get, but this is NO way staff should be treating their customers. I am truly appalled and disappointed by everything at this establishment. Granted they were overwhelmingly busy that night, that is no excuse for POOR SERVICE, HORRIBLE QUALITY/COLD food, and NASTY ATTITUDES. Bottom line: there are WAY better thai places in the city that offer better quality food, more attentive and WARM service, and an overall better dining experience. COMPLETE WASTE of time and money!

Sherry C.

Yelp
Their food is yummerlicious everything was delish, spicy level just take mild If you're not a spicy person. Food is delish. Drinks are horrible, Whiskey specially JWB watered down. Get the food only you won't be disappointed. Seating ahhh no Covid protocols in place, be aware of five inches seating, most patrons were not happy with. I clearly wasn't, thankfully I was there at opening and left before the real rush. Again good is delish, grab it to go. You won't be disappointed

Evan R.

Yelp
For the last several years I have gotten delivery from here almost every Friday night. But now unfortunately, that MUST stop. The last food delivery I got from here two weeks ago, almost put me in the Emergency Room. I ordered my usual, Jungle Curry - HOT, with fried tofu, with rice. Almost at the end of the meal, just getting the last from the bottom of the Quart delivery container, and out comes something strange. Being a vegetarian I thought it looked like a piece of Fish Skin .... I wish! It was a pus filled Band-Aid. So vile and disgusting. I immediately called the restaurant, and they said they would replace my food, they did. And give a taIk to the chef... I was kind of expecting a little more concern. Maybe a refund or credit! No chance ... nope. They wanted their Band-Air back though, nope ... I sent them the photo instead, I have the band-aid if it is needed for anything. I have emailed them a few times as I wait for various test results to come back. No response. So now I feel I must share the truth with anyone considering ever eating from Jaiya again. Don't waste your money with an establishment that hates their customers and believe that they don't have to follow rules. These are horrible and nasty mean people. It is really not a joke - these are really bad human beings. They believe they above all of their customers.

Theresa E.

Yelp
I came here for dinner, as I've walked by many times. The restaurant is visually lovely, and the waiter was quite friendly and attentive. But...my pad Thai was marginal at best. I felt like they premake it as the noodles are very soft and colorless. Because of this, its possibly the worst and most bland pad Thai I've ever haf

Chrissy C.

Yelp
Came here for lunch. They waiters were very attentive and nice. The lunch comes with a very very small salad and the entree. The small salad had a tasty peanut dressing. I got drunken noodle in medium. I heard that this place was known for their spicy foods but I underestimated it. It was SO SPICY. My nose was running the whole time and I ended up drinking so much water. I asked for duck /plum sauce that dimmed the heat a little and made it more tolerable. If you're into spice and heat this is the place to go ! However it was too much for me and I usually like spicy. It made my meal not as enjoyable. Not sure if I'll be back since there's many other Thai places in the area but if I do come back I will definitely get mild or whatever is lower than medium. Pro: great staff. I'm sure they know of the spice because they were attentive in refilling my water. Lol

Jaimee A.

Yelp
I have been to Jaiya twice and it was pretty good. The first time I went, I had a "mild" curry with shrimp and it tasted good but.... the eyes started to tear, the face started to sweat, the stomach started to clench. Clearly the mild curry was not mild enough for me. I muscled through the meal but it was way too spicy for me. The second time, I had chicken pad Thai which was very tasty. I would come back but would stay away from the curries. They are way too spicy for me.

Yelp
Not a fan of their food or service. We came here for a girls' night out, starting off with drinks at the bar since they will not seat you unless your whole party has arrived. That's fine, but when we advised the waitress our last member was 5 minutes out (as a courtesy since the place was packed), she had a major chip on her shoulder about it. That started the evening off on the wrong foot. We ordered a number of dishes for the table and nothing was particularly memorable. The Drunken Man Noodles were bland with scant sauce, the Green Curry was particularly watery. The stir-fried entrees, including the Chili & Basil Beef, were different from your usual Thai staples, but quite spicy. The Fried Calamari was good, as was its dipping sauce, although fried foods usually prevail in my books. We all agreed the overall taste was mediocre, but the cocktails and Thai iced teas were refreshing. Service also disappeared for the entirety of our meal, which works in their favor as we didn't have to see the waitress' scowling face all evening. The same woman came by at the end to ask if we wanted dessert. We thinks not! We got the check and went elsewhere for a sweet cap. And never will I set foot in Jaiya again.

Yelp
I added the extra star just to be nice. I'm so upset I'm still inside the restaurant writing this review. Bar seats are not for people larger than a size 4. Not big people friendly. Couple next to me ordered food and had to send it back for being too salty. I ordered massaman curry and it was horrendous. Super sour and tastes of salt and vinegar. I had them take it back and they told me that's how they make it. I have never been so insulted and I am not even Thai. They told me to order something else so I choose the basic pad Thai like my friends. How does a Thai place mess up pad Thai???? Ughhhhh it was watery and salty. Not worth your money at all. I will not be back and regret spending my money here. Edit: service isn't the best, the waitress had an attitude when we got the check because she charged me for the bad curry AND THEY CHARGED FOR RICE!

Yelp
As far as Thai food is concerned, Jaiya is the OG. It's practically comfort food. The Tom yum soup is their signature dish, however, everything on the menu is fantastic. Be careful with spice levels.

Yelp
Just went to grab some drinks with friends and this place was small and cozy. The lighting was dark and we sat at the bar. The restroom is downstairs. The drink I got was suggested by the server I think her name was Hannah and she was nice and polite. I enjoyed the drinks cuz I didnt want something strong as I had been drinking since 4pm. We didn't eat anything because there were other people having dinner and I got this very weird smell I mean it was all over the place very nasty smell I don't know if it was food maybe it was some sea food or fish but yeh that was the downside. Any ways it is a nice place for dates.

Yelp
Don't come here. Sat next to a couple that sent back both their dishes. My friend ordered massaman curry and it had a strong vinegar taste. My pad thai tasted watery. Bar seats aren't big people friendly. If you stop by you'll know what I mean.

Yelp
Never again. Came here because I saw this place gets a lot of hype on Instagram and noticed a few of my friends have been here as well. Needless to say, we were excited to try it out. Unfortunately, that excitement as short lived. I have been to a lot of Thai restaurants and I always end up similar things on the menu (Pad Thai, Drunken Noodles, Pineapple Fried Rice etc.), and let me tell you what is served here is at Jaiya does not match up to any of those restaurants. Being a restaurant in the city, I had high expectations. We went on weekend afternoon for a bit of a late lunch. There were only two other parties there. We were seated a little closer to the kitchen and the bathroom in the back. We ordered a couple things off the menu. Appetizers- Spring Rolls, Chicken Satay. Main Course - Tofu Pineapple Fried Rice, Chicken Drunken Noodles and Chili and Onion Chicken with Sticky Rice. Dessert- Volcanic Ice Cream. The food finally arrives. Our Thai Iced Teas were more ice than tea. The spring rolls and chicken satay were blah. Nothing worth mentioning. Pineapple fried rice - dry tofu, dry rice and lacking flavor. Drunken Noodles - barely enough to feed one and honestly not worth a $20 dish. Chili Chicken - Dry chicken thrown together with some basic veggies and soy sauce. Stick Rice- cooked in a plastic bag?? Volcanic Ice Cream - alright honestly, the only good thing we ordered. All that for almost $185?! If I am paying that much for food, it sure as hell better be worth it. The service was spotty at best. There was 1 lady running around the bar area, the kitchen and serving the tables. Occasionally the cook/chef would come out of the kitchen to serve plates of food as well. They had also sectioned off a good portion of the restaurant. One group of ladies had come in and asked to sit there and they were told that part is closed. HUH?! Sadly for Jaiya, they ended up leaving. We will definitely not be coming back here, ever. Honest review: Overpriced Mediocre food at best Service even worse Overrated

Yelp
Good customer service. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful with food selection. Excellent and authentic Thai cuisine. Place is clean and cozy. Would go back to try more of their menu. Strongly recommend this place for Thai food.

Yelp
Was walking around the neighborhood and found this spot (craving Thai food). Wasn't really hungry so all we ordered was the Pepper Salted Prawn and omg!!! It was delicious. If I was hungry I definitely would've ordered again. I will definitely return for these as well as try out some of their other popular dishes.

Yelp
Cockroach on the table Honestly I really like the food here. But the last time I was there I luckily while eating saw a huge cockroach crawl under my plate. I have no clue whether it came from the food or table but it really creeped the hell out of me. We couldn't eat there anymore and even though the staff said it's on the house, they had no empathy towards the situation, and literally wanted us to get out quickly so that a scene is not created and others dining at that point of time do not know about it. Absolutely pathetic hospitality in such a situation. None of them knew how to deal with it. I don't even remember hearing a proper apology. Pathetic. My worst experience at a restaurant ever.

Yelp
Absolutely delicious! One of the few places in the city that I come regularly for that Thai fix. Great food. Amazing ambience. Perfect amount of spice. Make sure you listen to the waiter's spice recommendation otherwise your meal may end prematurely thanks to your gut.
