Love the BBQ ribs without sauce (they provided sauce but I didn’t dip) and salmon omelette! The two of us got two appetizers (Caesar salad not pictured) and three entrees with no leftover.

Excellent ocean views from its beachside location, refreshing sea breezes throughout the dining area, and attentive/accommodating service all punctuate an enjoyable experience. All of the dishes I observed and tried were attractive and delicious. Fish tacos looked amazing, so did the burgers, and the fish and chips - either of those are on the list for a future visit. The mixed seafood pot provides a comforting blend of flavors in a savory broth with plenty of meat and risotto to fill and satisfy. It is served with wonderfully fresh bread rolls. Quite nice. Mud pie, peanut butter chocolate torte, and the cheesecake desserts were all fantastic and generously portioned. A lively atmosphere of cheerful patrons kept the place hopping from noon to 3pm on a Thursday lunchtime in late August. Comfortably spaced seating doesn't feel overly crowded. You're going to like it. Super easy valet parking for $8 with no time limit.

Google
A restaurant at an unbeatable location serving California cuisines. Unfortunately, the cooking has gone downhill significantly. On our most recent visit, the fish was so tough in the fresh fish Caesar salad I thought they mistakenly gave me an overcooked chicken salad. The grilled prawns, maybe because they want to cook the prosciutto crispy, were very over done. Paid parking directly across the street was mostly empty at lunch time on this Tuesday, which might have something to do with the price ($15 for the first 2 hours). The room is set up nicely, with wide open view directly on the beach.

First time here and certainly the last. Beautiful views, decent service, but food was flavorless and overpriced. Valet parking was the only option at a reasonable $8. Steak was overcooked, bland, simply seasoned with pepper, tender but not juicy. Best part was the hula pie. Save yourself the time, effort, and money and go elsewhere.

Google
Only go here if you're not hungry. I ordered the poke bowl and they gave me a single scoop of fish, which was also extremely tasteless. It's genuinely insane to pay over $20 for a bland snack disguised as an entree. Any other poke spot would put this restaurant to shame. Other than the comically small portions, it took about 20 minutes to get our food which is fair, and the setting right on the beach was stunning.

Great service - Chuck was personable and attentive. Sunset view from the restaurant is perfect. Ceviche and ahi sashimi appetizers were very fresh. The mixed seafood pot was very good too. However, the stand out item is the Hula Pie. You can't go to Jake's and not order it! They also have an excellent local beer selection.

Had dinner here last night, excellent service at the bar. Really good cocktails, the Sashimi appetizer was fresh and tasty. Shrimp Mole' and Scallop Risotto were excellent. Chateau Montelena Chardonnay paired well. Peanut butter torte was a great finish.

I booked a reservation for a party of 4 to celebrate my brother’s birthday and the only times available was 10am for breakfast. We were thankfully seated along the window with the fantastic view of the beach and we were welcomed with a birthday card on the table. Shout out to Teya (I wish I asked for the right spelling!) for being a wonderful server on a Sunday morning. Parking: $8 valet available which is worth it since street meter parking was already $4/hr. Food: -Calamari ($17.50) and Brussel Sprouts ($14) for starters were perfect to share for us 4. We paired it with Pog Mimosas, Bloody Mary, and Espresso Martini -Togarashi Spice Crusted Ahi Benedict ($23): pretty tasty Ahi pieces, served with breakfast potatoes -Chef’s Burger ($19): nothing too special -Hula Pie for the birthday slice: this was so big and so good! Perfect to share with the table. *I think only through this month, Jake’s takes off the bill what you donate to the Wounded Warrior Project for up to $50 per person* Overall, we had a great experience dining here to celebrate my brother’s birthday. Good food with a great view. Would love to dine here for lunch and dinner next time!

Yelp
I haven't been to Jake's in years. I never thought the food was memorable enough to go back. But, view and location it's unforgettable. Today I decided to stop by. Took a friend. We were greeted very warmly and seated in a corner prime spot to gaze out at the beach,,, our server Michael was very attentive and professional. He took care of us and we felt it. We ordered the calamari appetizer. It was so good. Also ordered the seafood pot. Lots of bread to soak up the tasty broth. I'm assuming they have a different cook from the last time I was there. And it's apparent., the food quality and flavors improved dramatically. So happy I came back to try again. We were not disappointed. Thank you. Il be back

Yelp
3.5 stars, rounding to 4. I came here for a work event a year ago and was looking forward to coming back. However, I was a little bit let down, and I don't think I'll be a frequent customer at Jake's. My partner and I stopped by at noon on a Saturday and asked for a table near the water. The greeters were incredible and accommodating; we were sat at our table with the view within 10 minutes. The best thing about Jake's is the proximity to and beautiful views of the ocean. Such an incredible experience dining with a view. We got the calamari which were large and juicy yet lacked some flavor. My partner got the fish plate which she absolutely loved; the squid ink and the tender, flaky filet made the fish. I had the fish tacos and while they were tasty, the corn tortillas were disappointing. They were stale, "wannabe" crispy, with a cardboard-like taste. For dessert, we shared the famous hula pie which was absolutely delicious if it weren't for a piece of saran wrap my partner found inside... We nicely notified the water about the incident, but his response was not on par. He said sorry, but laughed it off with "Mistakes have been made I guess." We still had to pay for the pie. Total for lunch being $100 may not be worth it with the inconveniences we experienced. Go for the view and the food will be hit or miss or maybe saran wrap lol

Yelp
This place was awesome! Came here to celebrate a birthday and the atmosphere and staff were awesome. Right from when we stepped in, the hostess asked whose birthday it was, and there was even a handwritten card and little shell on the table when we got there. Several other staff members came over to say happy birthday too! The view was also amazing - though it was a cloudy day, it was still beautiful but I can only imagine how beautiful it must be on a sunny day. The food was also very tasty. I got scallops and the bbq ribs as an appetizer. The scallops were seared perfectly and the risotto was super yummy, though felt just a little salty by the end. They also brought a slice of dessert with a bday candle to make it all around such a special night!

Yelp
When on a sister adventure, there are no limits! And enjoying a fine meal on the beach of Del Mar is no exception. We enjoyed a nice walk from our time share and strolled right in when they opened. We were sat down at a wonderful corner ocean view table. Our server, Julian, was amazing! He recommended the brussel sprouts as our appetizer, which were phenomenal! Matter of fact we have him what we were looking at and decided on our entire menu. Seafood hotpot had so much seafood and flavor. And the scallops melted in our mouths. Everything was cooked to perfection. Julian even brought out some extra toppings on the hotpot. (Oh course I forgot the name, some type of ocean succulent.. Salty, crunchy and just added so much to the uniqueness of the dish). 100% recommend this place and our server Julian! Valley parking is available. It was$8 when we were there.. But we walked so only an observation. Great location. Right on the beach next to a park. Staff is attentive and friendly.

Yelp
Visited this restaurant for the first time. I've been wanting to go for years. The staff were very friendly and the restaurant felt like your favorite neighborhood gem. Very welcoming. We were celebrating a birthday and they brought out Hula pie. We started with the Brussels sprouts for an appetizer. The Cesar salad was good, and my Surfing Steak was good. I would try something different next time.

Catelyn H.

Yelp
Work up an appetite after walking the beach? That's what happened to me so I stopped into Jake's. The location is prime! If you're wanting to see the sunset, the restaurant is also loaded with windows. During my visit I tried the Brussel Sprouts as an appetizer and paired them with a glass of wine. The Brussels were good as they also had shishito peppers intermixed. For my main entree I got the seafood chowder which is served with a piece of cornbread. The chowder was good, but the cornbread needed a hug from a southern grandma. Service was top tier even though I sat in the bar area. If you're looking to visit, I'd recommend a reservation!

Yelp
Jake's is a seaside restaurant that's exudes the California lifestyle of cool casual dining and family friendly...Ohana. Best friends and founders Rob Thibaut and Sandy Saxten decided to design restaurants in locations where they wanted to live, work and play...later called TS Restaurants are throughout Hawaii and California. Jake's in Del Mar has been here since the early 1980's. The actual building has morphed from a garage to now a restaurant with unobstructed views of the beach, and that's the main draw for me. The menu is very similar to Duke's, which offers a mix of Hawaiian and California casual food favs and drinks. There's something delish for everyone, but keep Nin mind the menu liens towards seafood. After a disappointing breakfast earlier somewhere else, we came here for brunch and to see the beach. We ordered the Fresh Fish cesar salad which includes an anchovy dressing and topped with Ahi tuna. This salad was enough to share and even our portions was substantial and delish. The crispy calamari with crushed macadamia and the sweet and sour sauce paired nicely with the salad. And the meal of course must include their famous Hula pie of ice cream, topped with hot fudge, whipped cream and walnuts was so yummy! The hot coffee was the perfect conclusion to our brunch and dessert. The staff were cordial and helpful. The valet staff were accommodating and kept our car closeby. The hostess staff need to be more organized in seat assignments, we didn't appreciate waiting for our table, especially with so many staff members standing around. Our waitress Emily was very helpful and had a positive attitude and made sure we were good. The decor has the Hawaiian and Californian lifestyle theme but not excessive nor tacky. The restaurant was crowded and we were glad to get there just in time to get a table next to the window to watch the beach activities and ocean views. It was strange one couldn't access the beach from the restaurant. We had to walk either to the right or left and outside of Jake's to walk through an easement and into to the beach...a bit of a hassle and inconvenience. Overall, our visits here at Jake's had been positive, Ohana cordial and would merit a return and recommendation.

Yelp
Jakes is a classic staple of the Del Mar restaurant scene. Located right on the beach, the floor to ceiling windows provide spectacular ocean and sunset views. Jakes is a great place to celebrate a special occasion or go for a business dinner. The seafood is fresh and the menu has something for everyone. The hula pie is a unique and giant ice cream slice with macadamia nuts and chocolate fudge. It's a fun desert to share with the whole group! Really enjoy the experience every time I dine at Jake's

Yelp
We chose this to celebrate an 80th birthday, since this birthday girl wanted the mud pie dessert. We started with the calamari, which was nice thick strips (vs small rings on tentacles). At the table, we had salmon, scallops and toasted halibut. I thought the salmon was very good, cooked perfectly and with a really nice, creamy polenta. However, the roasted carrots needed to be cooked more. The dessert is good, although it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. It tastes like vanilla ice cream sundae with hot fudge and macadamia nuts. I know it's supposed to be macadamia ice cream, but it just didn't pop. The atmosphere is lively and the server was very friendly. He didn't acknowledge the birthday, which was odd, since he was overall a great sever (maybe he didn't hear?). We didn't expect a free dessert, but it would have been nice to have a candle and maybe a "Happy Birthday" sentiment to make her feel extra special.

Yelp
Probably the coolest bar in Southern California. Upscale but comfortable with views on the ocean and nice tabletop seating around an "L" shaped bar. Exposed wood beams and roof - very cool interior. Riley was rocking the bar like a pro, exceptional service, quick witted and quick with the drinks. In all my years attending the races I've only been here twice... great spot to watch the races with two flat screens. Went Strawberry & Candied Walnut Salad with the Pan Roasted Chicken entree. Of course, Ketel One Martini to help with handicapping the races "where the surf meets the turf." Definitely will come back soon. Check it out.

Yelp
Jake's is so perfect for a special night! The food was great!! Started w a very generous and tasty crab cake (we shared and it was ample!) followed by a crisp and delish Ceasar salad and hubby had the chowder (it was "okay") and then our entrees...soooo good...I had the halibut and it was flaky and fab...hubby had the crusted ahi which he thoroughly enjoyed! Our mai tai and old fashioned cocktails were awesome as well! Our server, Mike, was attentive and helpful! We were also delighted to have a card waiting for us at the table to wish us a Happy Anniversary and they treated us to Hula pie! Well done, Jake's Team!!

Martin L.

Yelp
Location is great right on the beach. A low tide you can see the beach. At high tide water laps the window. Great views. Food was ok. 7/10. Wouldn't say it's the best. Decent quality and taste. But a bit on the boring side. Service was great. Staff was attentive and always there with a smile. Come for the view and ambiance, maybe not so much for the food.

Rosemary S.

Yelp
Excellent meal with family. We faced the beautiful Pacific Ocean and enjoyed the Sunset while eating dinner. We all had seafood and everyone Loved their meal. The service was fantastic, our server was very friendly and super attentive even though the place was packed.

Sharon B.

Yelp
Can't beat the location of this restaurant. Right on the beautiful beach at Del Mar. It was a beautiful day when my friend and I met up for lunch. We had reservations and that's highly recommended. Everyone was seated on their enclosed and shaded patio or just inside to take advantage of the view. That's why we are there after all. Parking is a bit tricky in the area. Best to do the $8 valet parking at the restaurant. Street parking is limited to 2 hours nearby. The residential street parking is free and further away. About a 10 mins walk. There are metered and a paid public parking lot across the street for $4/hr on most days. The service was good with a very attentive staff. I got the vegan ramen for lunch because it sounded different so I wanted to give it a try. It fell a little short on flavor and the ramen was falling apart. But it was full of vegetables. My friend ordered the turkey sandwich. The portions were big. She ate half and said it was delicious. She ended up taking the other half home for dinner. The homemade potato chips looked good but I was told too vinegary for her taste.

Crissy W.

Yelp
You cannot go wrong with Jake's. We love brunch and lunch best as it's a little more affordable. We find free parking in the neighborhood south of Jake's. We get to enjoy our beautiful walk through Seagrove and then Powerhouse park on the way to Jake's. If it's low tide, I recommend taking a walk after at the beach. The people who work there are so kind and on top of it. I highly recommend the Hula Pie, even if on a diet. It's worth every single bite!

Danise O.

Yelp
This is one of my top favorites, second to Hula Grill. Truly feels like Ohana here. The food , service and ambiance are all amazing. You can truly enjoy the location and al that goes with the TS brand. Makes for a wonderful experience.

Shirley S.

Yelp
Eating light with #CaesarSalad #ClamChowder #FrenchFries all good but disappointed that the chowder was luke warm #BrusselSprouts as a shared appetizer were good too. Added star for friendly and helpful service, the complimentary #HulaPie for a birthday celebration, and seating by a window with a beautiful view

Hope A.

Yelp
Best place to grab a cocktail in Del Mar! We love the views, easy valet parking, and highly skilled and friendly bartenders. Highly recommend !

Nicole T.

Yelp
The view and service and ambiance is 10/10, but the food is a 6/10. I recommend making a reservation to get the best table possible! We walked in on a week day and although we still had a view, there were 2 rows of tables in front of us. This place has a small menu with the typical seafood items: - Ceviche (2/5): lacked flavor. Used cooked fish instead of shrimp - Mai Tai (2/5 for flavor, 5/5 if youre just trying to get drunk!) It's super strong but not very enjoyable! - Chowder (4/5): good seafood flavor, served with bread - Seafood pot (5/5): lots of seafood and a great size to share for 2 (they will separate it in a bowl for you) Overall, I would come again, just for the seafood pot and chowder

Nancy S.

Yelp
The view is fantastic as is the food. I started with the seafood chowder which was piping hot and absolutely delicious. I loved the little bits of corn added. I followed that with the fresh fish Caesar which featured seared tuna. Tuna cooked nicely rare and Caesar had nice big shavings of Parmesan cheese. Hula pie for dessert. It really hit the spot and you have to share it with a group. No one could eat the entire piece. Went for a celebration with six people. Everyone treated us very nicely, which not all restaurants do with a big table. Our waiter was lovely, as were all the staff.

Yelp
Beneath the canvas of the twilight sky , Jake's Del Mar stands, where the seagulls cry . A sanctuary where the sun bids the day goodbye , In hues of orange and pink, the waves sigh . The ocean's bounty on a plate does lie , With every morsel, the taste buds fly . A symphony of flavors, oh so spry , A dance of sea and spice, none can deny . In vino veritas, the Pinot Noir's high , A velvety whisper, a soft lullaby . It pairs with the sea's fare, oh so sly , A sip, a bite, a moment under the eye . Service like the gentlest tide, nigh , They tend to every need, they comply . With care, they guide, they amplify , The dining experience, under the open sky . Jake's Del Mar, a feast for the eye , Not just a meal, but a memory to classify . For those who seek a taste, do not be shy , An evening here, your senses will gratify .

Edwin R.

Yelp
Excellent service with all the staff especially the valet team. This place is packed nightly and reservation is recommended. Beautiful view of the ocean and after your meal, you can exit towards the beach and you're footsteps onto the sand. Everything on their menu was delicious. Huge drink menu at the bar and huge whiskey menu for us whiskey lovers. Their seafood combo was excellent. I highly recommend. We had a fun time. Cheers!

Yelp
Great meal! Excellent cocktails!! Attentive bartender. Finally, killer dessert with an incredible view.

Yelp
It is always a great experience at Jake's. The food and customer service are spectacular, all of this with a beautiful view right on the beach in Del Mar.

Yelp
Ambiance: 10/10. We came around 5 o'clock after walking on the beach had worked up an appetite. we walked in and sat at the bar. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with classic Southern California beach style decor. a gorgeous sunset. Perfect view. Service: service was perfect. You did have to ask for a menu, and the extent of work that we did. Food: crab was phenomenal. Burger was excellent. The seafood chowder was lackluster, but the bread that it came with was amazing.

Neil F.

Yelp
Highly recommend Jake's. Dennis, our waiter was very friendly and made our experience most enjoyable. Service was fantastic, and the view at sunset was postcard ready. Suggested that you all make reservations with the window seat and be sure to ask for Dennis!!!

Cat C.

Yelp
You come for the view, but the service is great, and the food is still pleasing. We went to Duke's the previous night, but we honestly didn't know what to do for dinner and have a picky eater, so hubs ended up making reservations here with less than a couple hours notice. We did valet since parking is super difficult in the area and they definitely tetris the cars in the lot. We didn't sit right by the windows but still got a great view. And I noticed a signed card placed at our table when we had sat down. They do notice the notes in the Opentable reservation notes! :) Our waiter was super sweet and told us how he started off at Duke's in Hawaii but that his wife got transferred out to SD. Well he definitely brought the Island hospitality to us! We shared the grilled prawns appetizer, ordered the kiddo chicken tender, hubs had the passionfruit soy shortribs, and I ordered the kid's fish and chips since I wasn't very hungry. Thank you Duke's for letting me order of the kid's menu! I ordered a cucumber mocktail which was super refreshing, and the hubs had a beer. We really enjoyed the grilled prawns wrapped with prosciutto, and served with diced melon. The kids fish and chips was the perfect portion for me, pretty standard but hit the spot. He enjoyed his passionfruit soy short ribs, there was some drier parts of the short rib but for the most part it was a moist and tender hunk of beef on top of mashed potato purée, served alongside bok choy. Last but definitely not least, our sweet waiter told us that because we were celebrating our anniversary, we could choose any dessert on the house. We were pretty full, but asked if it would be possible to find a smaller piece of their famous hula pie. Omgg get this. It's a huge slice of macadamia nut ice cream on top of a chocolate cookie crust, then drizzled with fudge and toasted macadamia nuts. It's divine, and not overly sweet tbh. If you want solid modern Hawaiian food with a twist while enjoying a good view, coupled with Hawaiian hospitality, come visit Jake's.

Christina V.

Yelp
It was really difficult to make a reservation for 10 guests at other restaurants due to lack of dining space or calls and emails going unanswered. Jake's answered in a single call and made the RSVP. Such a smooth and easy process. I can rely on the team at Jake's for a stress-free visit! Parking on the street was really difficult to find. Lucikly valet was only $7! Save yourself the stress of parking on busy and narrow streets. When we arrived, I was greeted with a smile by the host. He found our reservation in the system right away, verified the number of high chairs needed, and adjusted our number of chairs (since some guests couldn't make it) without a fuss. I RSVP'd for a farewell dinner, and it was important to me the guests of honor felt taken care of. I didn't even ask, but the restaurant saved us the table with the best view of the sunset through the bay windows. We were taken care of by Shantz. I left my credit card behind, and he ran after us to give it back. Sorry! and thank you! Great food, fantastic service, and overall memorable positive experience. If you want to do a special dinner for someone, I'd trust Jake's to take care of you.

Hannah N.

Yelp
I haven't been to this spot in forever so it was the perfect spot for a date night! Jake's is apart of Duke's family of restaurants and is right on the beach in Del Mar with views of the ocean. We hadn't had more formal sit down date night in awhile so it was nice to enjoy a great meal and great service by our very knowledgable server Ashley. We started our night with some drinks as well as the tuna tostada which was super flavorful! We ended up both going with the specials of the night one was a fish special and one was a steak special. The highlight of the meal for me was the prosciutto au gratin potatoes that came with the steak special it was so flavorful and perfectly cooked I was obsessed. I loved getting to enjoy an evening in Del Mar it was the perfect start to the weekend! We will be back for another date night soon.

Achal P.

Yelp
Amazing food, fantastic views, and impeccable service! Will go here again. Very accommodative staff. The attention to details is as amazing as the evening views from the windows! Can't recommend more! Must go place!

Yelp
Neat place with wonderful unobstructed views of the Pacific. Our server was friendly and attentive. We had a party of five and were seated right on time of our reservation. Selection was decent, we shared a couple of starters. Since I had seafood for the previous three days, I was eager for something else, so I ordered the Chef's Burger (sirloin & brisket), which came with fries and was outstanding. Our guests loved their Mixed Seafood Pot, Surfing Steak, and Lemon Garlic Roasted Fish (halibut). Our only beef was the valet ($8) vs. public ($20) parking 'option', which is pretty much a Del Mar thing, as nearby street parking is pretty lean. Regardless, a very nice dining experience.

Jane L.

Yelp
The inside of the restaurant is beautifully designed. There's a great view of the water almost anywhere you sit. There's plenty of parking in the parking lot and around the restaurant. The parking outside is metered but takes card. We were there with a big group and they arranged seating for us in a roomy area with a great view. Our server was very friendly and so were all the other servers that came to help him. The food was all beautifully presented. I wasn't a big fan of the calamari, the textures and flavor just weren't right. The pear salad was full of flavor as were the brussel sprouts. The main dishes were tasty, and the filet mignon was prepared nicely. The hula pie was a great dessert to finish off the meal.

Agnes D.

Yelp
Nice ambience... a few GF options, most items have dairy. However, the staff was gracious enough to allow me to modify my order. I enjoyed the salmon and rice with broccolini.

Benjamin B.

Yelp
I was pretty excited to come to Jake's. I heard some good stuff. The reviews are also great and Del Mar is beautiful. I'm lucky to live near Del Mar. the place itself it settled right up on sand. It's a beautiful location. The place itself is fun. It has an island vibe. And let me just get this right out into the open. Service was great. The start was with the ahi. The ahi shashimi was actually great. The jalapeños possible were just too thick. It took away form the tuna and the cabbage sprouts just were just not enough to cut it. Usually. I would say it's easy to fix this. Sauce. But the yuzu was just splattered on the dish. The presentation was poor but also just not not a top quality dish. The seafood pot was great. But again the broth was mediocre. The mahi was actually great. But the main part for me at least is that it's achiote. Where was it ! Luckily the fish was cooked perfect. And good mahi is good mahi. But the dish is an achiote dish. I would honestly say this rating is slightly over edged lowly because you expect from a meal for two that is way over 100$. Top quality. Top presentation and top taste. It was not. Luckily staff was great and location or this would be a you are better off going to rubios next door.

Faye L.

Yelp
I'm so glad we came here today for a bday lunch celebration for my friend. They open 1130a and people were already waiting for them to open their doors. Valet said they don't open doors before 1130 so I guess people get there early to get the best tables. Valet is $7 which is a great price if you're going to be there over 2h . I parked on street thinking it would be cheaper but ended up paying $6 or something. I originally wanted to dine at Poseidon next door but they offered no lunch prices so that's what prompted me to make opentable reso for Jakes. I got the corner table with open windows/door in the back. It couldn't have been a more beautiful day. I almost think another table would have been easier to get views as only one of our 4 chairs had prime ocean view access. There were also a lot of flies and we saw two wasps so be careful. Our server Velma was amazzzzing. God bless her as she was so kind and totally knew I wanted to surprise my friend with a bday dessert at end. We tried: Crispy Calamari $17: - decent portion but the calamari wasn't piping hot and the sweet & sour sauce underneath was cold and too much Ahi Poke Bowl $21: - you can make this keto by subbing salad for the rice. The ahi tuna looked and tasted fresh. We wish there was more of it but it's lunch so ok. Achiote Roasted Fish $24: - it was swordfish today which I didn't really prefer. It was prepared decently as it wasn't dry but it's just a firm dense fish that tasted under seasoned. Velma let me sub out the farro for extra veggies. I don't think I'd order this dish again unless it was a different fish Hula Pie: - highlight of the meal and Velma totally knew when to bring it so friend would be surprised We each had a glass of pinot noir ($13 each). We weren't rushed while eating dessert nor after I paid the bill. The total was about $126 after tax and tip. I would totally come back if we could get another prime table and had a server like Velma. She saved the experience for us as the food wasn't great but oh my goodness she was.

Yelp
My family is visiting from the Philippines yet their experience was rushed. They are there right now but the waitresses are trying to clean up their area after dining for only a short period of time. Even the valet treated them poorly. I'm thinking it might be a case of racism, which I'm surprised about... didn't think that happens in the area. Based on Yelp it's only 2 dollar signs, so they were thinking it's a casual restaurant. Food looks good. Maybe only for the people that the waitresses like.

Yelp
If you're visiting Del Mar trying to figure out where to go to dinner, look no further you found the perfect spot Jake's was recommended to me by a friend who coming here every here on their birthday. I am VERY GLAD I took their recommendation. This place was great! The service was amazing. Constantly refilling our drinks and checking in on us when it was needed. This place is located right off the beach in Del Mar. It was nice to feel the ocean breeze while we ate. The food was delicious. My partner had the Norwegian salmon plate and the polenta with it was magic. I got the lemon garlic fish plate with orzo rice and this Squid ink vinaigrette I believe that had the perfect amount of spice and hotness. It didn't build on itself it just made the flavors marry each other so perfectly. We did get the Hula pie for dessert. It could have fed 4 people but we finished the whole thing it was so good! Lastly there is parking but it's scarce around that area, they do offer valet for about 8 dollars! .

Yelp
View and ambience 5/5. Windows are open with breathtaking view of the ocean waves. Service 4/4, 3 for host stand, not terrible but not super friendly. Husband was parking car. Dropped me off and they would not seat me. No line. I get it when a place is busy. Well one of two was very friendly, taller of 2 blondes was. Service at table was very good, friendly enough. Food was okay for price. It was lacking a bit. Potatoes were undercooked. Not much shrimp in the salmon and shrimp omelette. Would we visit again? Like would try another place in Del Mar. Nothing really wowed us.

Yelp
Jake's is one of San Diego fav spots. Great views of the ocean - especially for sunsets. Food is good - they get busy so sometimes things come out rushed. Also, be sure to make reservations and plan on being stuck in the parking lot until your table is ready - took us about 40 minutes - we came during the prime hours (7 pm). I got seafood pot - mussels, fish, shrimp on a risotto base. Very good - but I hate to say this because it IS seafood - just a bit too salty. This is a good date spot as well - just be aware of the peak hours and it gets a little loud.

Yelp
They set up the table for my birthday it was so sweet. We always get a table by the window when we come to visit! It's worth the wait. Trying to try something new when we go - the seafood pot was really flavorful!!! My mom got the steak for the first time and it was VERY dry unfortunately. Usually she gets the ahi - she wishes she got that. The waiter was very nice and managers as well

Yelp
I haven't had a single thing I didn't love. The seafood chowder is my favorite, and all the staff are welcoming- feels like I'm a regular in my hometown. Jesus made a PHENOMENAL rum cocktail. Not sure the specifics but rumor has it that it will show up on the summer '25 menu. Looking forward to it again come this summer. If you're on the fence about trying Jakes, this is your review/ sign to check it out!

Yelp
We had not been to Jake's for years and noted that it had good yelp reviews so we decided to take an out of town guest. The food, service and ambiance were all 5 stars. We will definitely go back again very soon!

Yelp
A beautiful slice of heaven on the pacific! Views overlooking the ocean were spectacular - we could watch surfers while we dined! The service was fast and servers were kind! All of the food was delicious and presented beautifully! Valet parking was cheaper than parking across the street so it's the best option!

Yelp
A very disappointing "entree" for vegans. Less meal than the salad for $28. A couple bites of vegetables that was mediocre at best in taste but really just a shocking portion for the price. Will NOT come back.

Yelp
We had a wonderful experience at Jake's! My wife and I shared a delicious steak and it was cooked perfectly. The service was fantastic and it is right on the beach for some gorgeous views while enjoying dinner. One thing is that we ordered the bread basket which isn't on the menu for some reason so I would suggest adding it to the menu because it was delicious! We would definitely return!!

Yelp
Jake's is matching Donations to Wounded Warrior Project right at your table up to $50 through Sept 22, 2024! Just ask! If you see this later isn't that awesome! Plus I had a relaxing experience enjoying the ocean breeze & watching the waves waiting for their yummy food! Thank you!!!

Yelp
For a terribly chilly section of the Restaurant and very busy Christmas eve, we as a party of 7 were greeted with a rude staff. Ordered the Vegan salad and the "roasted beet " salad which tasted like it came out of a can, and very small portions. I would never recommend this place to anyone who has taste. Way overpriced and unsatisfying.
