On the Grid : Jake's Ice Cream

"Lovely local ice cream shop that has an extensive history in the city of Atlanta and makes you feel good without being too kitschy or trying too hard. Word on the street is that they've beaten out other far more gigantic ice cream competitors in blind taste tests and it's well-known to be probably the most inviting place to grab a scoop or other sweet in the neighborhood." - Steven Johnson Studio

Where to Eat Ice Cream in Atlanta - Eater Atlanta

"Irwin Street Market has seen tenant shuffles over the years, but this ice cream shop remains a staple here. Now people can bulk order Jake’s ice cream for home delivery to the Old Fourth Ward, Inman Park, and Tri-Cities areas." - Eater Staff

We were just driving down the street and stopped by after seeing the storefront. The ice-cream here is delicious! All homemade. Very interesting flavors and names. Kids scoop is $2.75, single is $3.95, and double is $5.95. The single scoop is HUGE! You could get 2 flavors with the single scoop if you ask. They also allow for samplings. I highly recommend coming here.

Such a fun place to visit! Had a great experience here. Jake’s shares a shop space with a beignet shop and biscuit shop. I think that’s a novel idea because we came for beignets, which we loved, but also left with ice cream! What’s not to love! The staff was friendly and funny. We tried several different flavors, I got the chocolate oat milk and a butter finga scoop. Loved the flavors I chose! Along with Icecream they also have sorbet and several flavors of lemonade. Unfortunately I didn’t get to try the lemonade because they were out of the base to make it. Hopefully I’ll get to try it next time we stop by!

Employee Will is the best :) Very personable and friendly and is the reason my mom and I will be back to this location. Peanut Butter and Jam flavor ice cream is phenomenal!

Pretty good. I don’t think it’s the best artisan kind if ice cream I’ve had. No indoor seating due to covid.

Came to ATL 10 years ago and had the pleasure of trying this flavor (slap yo mama). Here I am back in town and having it for the 2nd time. Very good like I remember. I dropped a star though because I was in town for business some months back but they didn't have this flavor.

Google
Came to the market for meal prep (trying to be healthy, y'all), left with 3 scoops of ice cream 🤦🏾‍♀️. TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! Here's what I had: 🍨Mimosa-flavored ice cream (I believe it was pineapple mimosa). This flavor was incredible, the champagne 🍾 flavor is very noticeable. Absolutely delicious. 🍨 Sweet potato pie ice cream: Tasted good, but the sweet potato was subtle. If I didn't know it was supposed to be sweet potato I probably wouldn't have guessed it. 🍨Lemon ginger custard: Another good one. Almost forgot to mention the very sweet young lady who guided me through the flavors and offering samples.

Google
When you walk through the door you are immediately greeted with a smile and great service. The ice cream is sweet, savory and delicious. It dissolves in your mouth, leaving your tongue with flavor while your mouth gets ready for the next bite. It’s very light, it doesn’t leave you feeling bloated and heavy. I highly recommend!

Google
Homemade flavors!! The time and quality of creamery makes this a special place. You’ll be reminded of grandma’s back porch ice cream machine with every spoonful!

Yelp
I really wanted to like it as the store was very cute but the ice cream was just not good. It's almost icy to where it felt like there was chunks of ice in it and not really having any flavor. The pieces of candy barely had any flavor in it. The waffle cone even tasted a little stale.

Yelp
I expected my experience at Jake's to be better. I came by with some friends while walking along the beltline on a hot day. Upon entering, the shop appears a bit dated and dark, unlike any ice cream shop I have ever been inside, and the staff was a bit awkward/borderline rude when interacting with customers. While my ice cream was pretty good overall, I did notice the staff struggling with some of the ice cream as if it was a bit too frozen. They also had a large posted advertisement for their frozen lemonade bars, but, when one of my friends asked for one, the staff said they were not selling them right now. As a place that is rated as one of the best ice cream shops, I expected much more.

Yelp
Cute mom and pop place! Their red velvet ice cream was really good. The young man working was very nice and helpful also

Yelp
Had a great lesson on ice cream from Jake and learned a whole lot very knowledgeable and patient with all the different questions will definitely be back for more!!!

Yelp
'Twas a hot summer day on Krog street, and all I could think about was having a cold beer or a colder ice cream. Thankfully we stumbled upon Jake's by accident, or by luck. The location is in the old Irwin St Market. It is more rundown and very small compared to the new Krog development. Kinda sad to see how it's just been left there. We had to circle the building several times because the place did not seem open, and the signs had conflicting info. When we finally realized the door was unlocked, we walked in to an empty space. Upon notifying the server that the sign was saying they were closed, she said she'd fix it and never did during our 1 hour visit. The server was nice to let us try so many flavors and she explained the sizing perfectly. I was satisfied with my flavors. The ice cream is good, but not anything super stand out-ish. The serving size was adequate. I wish the selection of flavors had been more broad, or maybe the ones I tried and didn't get needed to be better. The ambiance was a little awkward. The server was humming away like she was in her own little world. Several times, other workers told us they'd be with us after we had been helped. I guess the stalls are all connected. Overall, it's a cute little spot when you just need ice cream, but nothing I'd go out of my way for. It's really quiet over there when the main restaurant isn't open. I wish they'd fix up the whole little market to give this place a better chance, especially making it look more welcoming and open from the outside!

Yelp
3.5 stars The Jake's staff was quite awkward when I came here. It was weird watching them interact with a family with kids first, and then awkward with us. Their scoops are far cheaper than Ben & Jerry's, but also much smaller. About the size you'd get at school. I was totally intrigued by the red velvet, but when i got it, it was just okay. I prefer to eat at small businesses over larger chains, but i have to say that I enjoy Ben & Jerry's far more than I did here. And for my boyfriend and I who are huge ice cream fans and live only a 3 minute walk from here, it's sad to say we wont' be coming back!

Yelp
Overpriced and icy...this ice cream was terrible. Tasted like it had been sitting in the freezer for too long. Go elsewhere.

Yelp
I've been going to Jake's since it was JD Rothschild's, when the ice cream was some of the best I've ever had, with plenty of amazing flavors, generous scoops, and a fantastic atmosphere. What it's become is depressing. The ice cream isn't nearly as good, the scoops are small, and the shop is dilapidated. We went tonight and the ice cream was barely frozen and they were out of vanilla! We were excited to revisit but will be walking around the corner to Butter and Cream the next time we hit the Beltline.

Yelp
On the belt line and wanted to see what was available to me besides Jenis and When i saw that Thrillist rated Jakes as one of the best ice creams shops in atlanta/GA i thought i would give it a try. i was severely underwhelmed.... and now will be quite skeptic of their rankings.the shop is sort of dingy and not a shop i'd want to linger around. Of course, i was there for the ice cream, affordable at about $3.50 a scoop, but still not worth it. The strawberry shortcake flavor i had was icey and crumbly, not creamy and smooth, leaving much to be desired. they also had no chocolate flavors available(they were out) , mostly fruit inspired ones. i also sampled a java chip that was just sort of strong but didn't leave a pleasant impression. for my pro, the young girl working the counter was nice.

Yelp
I am the strongest and most powerful reviewer. All other reviewers pale in comparison. The slap ya mama chocolate ice cream was very good.

Yelp
Decent flavors here and open for person-person business unlike another vendor at Krog St Market. However, milkshake machine was out of order so no milk shakes on March 19, 2020 sadly. We ordered a couple of sugar cones with one scoop a piece of mint cookies n cream and lemon / strawberry sorbet. Satisfied customers! :)

Yelp
5 stars for ice cream taste only. Hands down literally best ice cream I've had in a while. They don't have a whole lot of flavors, but they are all pretty good. They let us taste some of them and decided to go with the Butter Pecan, or how they call it "Better Pecan" and the delicious Peach and Apple Cobbler. Both flavors were sooooo good!!! and very affordable as well. A single (2 scoops) was about $4 and we could choose if we wanted a cup, or a cone. Not gonna lie, this place is not the best looking ever. But don't judge a book by its cover and give it a try if you're in the area. Its located literally across the street from Krog Street Market.

Yelp
Aggravation erases the joy of ice cream! They had no way to process my credit card save me typing it into a cracked screen (with no privacy) and couldn't give change with cash. I was told that the manager had taken the credit card processor to an event. Not my problem. Jake's, that is not good planning. Tell us before you make the ice cream.

Anne H F.

Yelp
What has happened to this place? Are used to take my kids when they were little in the stores in a different location, and they have the best, creamiest ice cream in town.Went today feeling nostalgic and was severely disappointed. The ice cream was very icy, tasted stale, and had no coconut flavor that I could detect. The only reason I gave it to star since that the server was very nice.
google avatar

Daniel W.

Yelp
Well Jake's gave me an ice cream first...I actually threw away my scoop before finishing. I got a single scoop of the brown sugar vanilla. It had almost no taste. Even worse, the texture was crumbly. It was almost like the ice cream was too cold and had to be scooped out in little shavings. For those who are covid conscious, there are signs throughout saying that masks are mandatory. None of the employees had a mask in sight. If you want better ice cream in the area, there are plenty of options. Just check out Jeni's, Butter & Cream, or Queen of Cream.

Yelp
I was pleased with the service and ice cream when here. Also, I didn't mind the attached antique shop which I could stroll around while eating my ice cream (: This is a lovely location, don't forget to take a little picture with mr. Moomoo the cow outside.

Yelp
Jake's Ice Creams & Sorbets is located just down the street from Krog Street Market in a cool little multi-use retail + restaurants space. It's very easy to find given the cool signage that they have on the building. There is free parking out back in an unpaved lot which can get a bit cramped at times. I originally happened upon this spot after visiting DBA Sandwiches in the same building and it's really great to have such a convenient dessert spot nearby. The guy who took our orders was super nice and answered all of the questions we had about the menu! *PRO TIP ALERT* To maximize ease of eating and deliciousness, ask for your scoop in a cup with cone on top. This way you get the convenience of a cup and the tastiness of the cone. *END PRO TIP* When I visited, I tried the Devyn's Animal Cracker and Chocolate Slap Yo Mama. Devyn's Animal Cracker Consisted of white chocolate dipped animal crackers in a sweet cream ice cream. I LOVE animal crackers so I was surprised that this one fell a bit flat for me. The sweet cream was creamy and tasty but the animal crackers were bland so I was a bit disappointed. The Chocolate Slap Yo Mama was a fairly standard chocolate ice cream, nothing life changing. I want to also give an honorable mention to the seating situation and the price. The seating here is top notch. It's a bunch of eclectic chairs and tables scattered about and I prefer it to the hustle and bustle you get at Krog Street. The price also can't be beat. We got 3 huge scoops total for just under $8. Getting the same across the street at Jeni's down the street might set you back $12. However, I do think the premium price is worth the difference in flavor and handmade waffle cones. Overall, I chalk Jake's up as a convenient, affordable alternative to Jeni's that has great seating. I will probably revisit at some point in the future as I explore the other businesses around it. Give it a try if you are in the area and looking for a nice place to chill.

Yelp
Pretty good. Can't complain but I don't think it's the best artisan ice cream I've had. It looks like they have Italian sodas as well! I will have to go back to try that. No indoor seating due to covid.
google avatar

Tracy H.

Yelp
I wanted to love the ice cream but it fell short for me. The mint chocolate chip cookies and cream was good. The butter pecan had no flavor and was very milky with waxy bits of pecan. They are very generous with their scoops and I couldn't eat it all.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I attended a cooking class at The Cooking School at Irwin Street. Our instructor told us that we each get a scoop of ice cream at the end of our class (and at the end of eating a hearty southern meal). It was delightful ending our experience with a sweet treat! The ice cream at Jake's is creamy and thick. You can taste the freshness of the ingredients and the big flavors in a small serving. The servers are incredibly polite and helpful. It's located a short walk from Krog Street Market with lots of seating inside to sit and enjoy your scoop!

Yelp
We stopped in to Jake's after dinner for something sweet - and I rarely explore the Irwin Street Market so we were pretty excited to check it out. It was pretty quiet for a Saturday night, but they were probably an hour from closing. I wanted something light, like a sorbet, which isn't something I usually crave. There weren't many options left at this hour, and many of the popular flavors were empty. I tried a couple flavors but settled on the sangria sorbet, since there weren't many other options available. I almost didn't get anything but since no one else in the group ordered anything, I felt obliged. It wasn't boozy but pretty fruity. It wasn't too memorable, which was kind of disappointing. Overall, I do recommend coming during the day or earlier in the evening, as they don't restock near closing time. I'll have to come back another time to try some of their other flavors when they're available.

Yelp
Finally was able to get Jake's Ice Cream after passing it many, many times on my Beltline walks. They seemed pretty disorganized - each worker kept having to go back and ask the other for questions. They seemed to mess up a few orders too. It also took them quite a long time to get everyone's orders out. I ordered the blueberry cream cheese on a cone - it was decent but nothing to write home about.
google avatar

Yelp
After meeting up with my cousin and her husband for dinner, we decided to grab some ice cream at Jake's to walk along the Atlanta Beltline for a bit. The service was great. The line was fairly short, and they were very helpful and let us try a few flavors before we decided. I went with the animal cracker ice cream! I love an ice cream with some texture in it! It was delicious and made me feel five years old again! My cousin and her husband enjoyed theirs as well. It was a great stop on a warm evening!
google avatar

Morgan M.

Yelp
Ice cream is made fresh at the shop! The chocolate slap yo mama is the best! - Chocolate ice cream with chocolate chips and Oreo - kids cone is $2.75 and it's actually just 1 scoop so it's great prices - Single actually means 2 scoops for $4.45
google avatar

Bruce K.

Yelp
Neat ice cream shop that is a short walk from the Krog Street Market. A dozen or so flavors of real ice cream and while I tried the "Laughing Gas", I opted for a single scoop of the Salted Caramel in a cup. It was a very big scoop. Plenty of ice cream for $5 with rounding up for the tip. Creamy and delicious, it hit all the right taste buds. They have inside and outdoor seating.

Yelp
I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!!!! We walk the belt line every now and then since it's been extended to our front door basically. On this fine Sunday we did 3 miles just to sendup throwing our healthy time away for some good ol' Ice cream. I love sweets, treats and all good eats and Jake's is a new fave! Not only is it located right off of the Beltline it also some of the best ice cream I've ever eaten. What to get: I ended up falling in love with the apple pie ice cream and the crazy thing is I never even knew that existed. I was minding my business tasting some samples and it stole my heart. They have real apple pieces and pie crust in there....YES, you heard me right. They put apple pie crust in the apple pie ice-cream and it is delicious. Service: The staff was great, but the place itself is a bit bland. When you think of Ice Cream shoppes you want sprinkles, laughs and the traditional feel. Walking into this place I didn't know what to expect, but I was very surprised by the taste. It wouldn't hurt to doll up the spot a bit, but I don't think that takes anything away from the taste. Location: They are conveniently located off the Beltline so yeah...there you have it! I don't think there's a better location. Cost: I think they are pretty affordable and Variety: They have tons of varieties for everyone and many options for those who have allergies as well. They are big on the sample game, so don't be scared to try it before you buy it. Not sure, but I think they switch them up on the regular. I will definitely be returning to this place every Sunday for the next....FOREVER!!

Yelp
Best ice cream I've ever had. Drove 50 minutes to try. Worth trying their fun and unique flavors.

Yelp
I totally enjoyed my ice cream. We found this little ice cream spot while driving our scooters down the beltline one weekend. You can park right out front, but it is extremely busy on the weekends. Friendly staff, good ice cream.... We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Mads B.

Yelp
We came in at 4pm on a Saturday after walking the belt line and there was nothing. A couple of flavors...no cones...super meh. If you are run out of everything, close. Or out a sign out that says limited selection. It looked like they were moving out of the space it was so empty. Jenis is across the street and never runs out. Also there was birthday cake left. I tried it, and it was super unflavorful. It was just vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. Idk what happened to the old Jake's but the new Jake's isn't worth a stop.
google avatar

Brandice A.

Yelp
I didn't come here for ice cream, I came here for the messy burgers that are here on Thursday. Free meal for being a yelp elite member and it was very good. They use a type of lettuce in place of the bun, so it does kind of make eating it "messy" hence the name. I stuck with the standby and got the American burger and chose kettle chips as my side. The burger was cooked well done and very flavorful. Tomato was cut thick and fresh, pickles and chopped onions made it yummy. They are only here on Thursday's but I will be back. The burger was d@&n good..lol
google avatar

Montinique W.

Yelp
Not my favorite. This was a bit of a depressing ice cream shop. It's just convenient to the Beltline. You can't go here if you're just looking for a simple scoop of chocolate or vanilla. I will say that they have reasonable pricing. A kids scoop is the same thing as a small.
google avatar

De'Von F.

Yelp
I ventured out to this ice cream shop for the first time when visiting the beltline in a Sunday afternoon. This ice cream shop is tucked away right off the beltline and Krog street market and it's very satisfying. I was a little sad that they did not have all the flavors, but the vanilla bean and the cinnamon flavor that literally taste like Cinnamon Toast Crunch was delicious! I did 4 scoops and was debating to go back for more! It is a VERY small ice cream shop so don't expect to be wow'd for trendiness or decor, however if you want great ice cream this is your spot. $7 for 4 scoops, so not too bad! They also have a decent patio to sit on so feel free to bring your pups! Will definitely be visiting this location again for ice cream!

Yelp
This was really and truly the best ice cream I've ever had. It was perfectly creamy while still being light and milky, and the flavors were a great mix of creative and classic. I LOVED the brown sugar vanilla, and the chocolate slap yo' mama was such a great spin on classic chocolate. The staff was really friendly - generous with samples and very accommodating regarding customer's questions about flavors and allergens. They have some great dairy-free options, and the staff said that almost all of the ice cream doesn't have eggs. The scoops were generous and the setting is comfortable and easy to find (large signage and along the Beltline). It's very close to Krog Street Market, so you can conveniently get a sweet treat after your meal. The perfect treat! I'm going to have to come back often now that I've discovered it. NOTE: Jake's has some negative reviews about the ice cream being more "milky" than "creamy". (More like a Wendy's frosty texture, or the ice cream kids make by shaking up milk in a bag with ice.) This is exactly how I like it, but it's a little different than what most people are used to from most small ice cream shops! I think it's a lighter treat and tastes better on a hot day. It's just a matter of preference, and I absolutely recommend giving Jake's a try for their unique flavors and vibe regardless of your usual texture preferences.
google avatar

S T.

Yelp
We were a new customer and managed to try it on a quiet day. The staff was super friendly and the place was very clean. All the flavors looked so amazing! And they make them all on-site. They don't have a lot of seating available, so if you're hoping to sit and enjoy your ice cream on a busy day you may be out of luck. But at least ice cream is a mobile-friendly food. I also love that it shares a building space with a separate coffee bar and bakery. Which is where I got MY treat while the kids chose ice cream.
google avatar

Roger W.

Yelp
This place was very convenient. Right off the belt line near krog street market. Had a variety of flavors, even vegan options. I enjoyed the Ice Cream
google avatar

Yelp
Came in with my girlfriend at around 7:25p. It wasn't busy at all. Whoever the African-American gentlemen was that evening was horrible. Headphones in one ear and out the other hanging out his tan jacket. Customer service was just horrible - not in tentative. If you don't like your job then PLEASE find another one. We wanted to spend our money at a small business, but we will definitely take it to Cold Stones tonight. Will we be back? No.
google avatar

Robert W.

Yelp
The big sign and replica cow out front caught the nephews eye's and nothing better than ice cream to quiet some noisy boys. Once we came in the amount of choices were pretty limited and whats worse was the chiller didn't seem to be working so nothing worse than scooping up a slushy scoop of ice cream already running on a cone. Throw in the fact what I had, which I can't remember, I ended up taking a few licks and tossed it into the garbage. The nephews didn't care for their choices too much after the initial enthusiasm wore off and I'm back at square one trying to find out another alternative to calm down those raucous monsters.

Yelp
We really dig this place. First of all, I worked out so I could get dessert...woohoo! So after dinner we decided on ice cream. I've been to Jeni's and don't get me wrong it's not bad and it HIGHLY popular in Atlanta but we saw this place and thought, "why not". Famous last words. Jk, it was good! We got there 15 mins to close and some of the flavors were out so boo but what they had, DELICIOUS. You can tell it's like Home made ice cream. The consistency is softer than most ice cream, it's like homemade ice cream. Loved the flavors, they were unique but not like wacky or off the wall and I enjoy that. One "scoop" is two scoops really. We got the kids size (one real scoop) in a cup and one in a waffle cone (like $0.75)! All together it was like $6 (give or take) not bad! I got the thin mint and my fiancé got the ooey gooey chocolate something and we loved both! Boom! I'll be back. Just the right consistency and flavors. Staff is friendly too :) no really big lines but definitely people stopping in a lot. Cute family spot or for a date :) near Krog street Market. Go check it out! Ps I ate my ice cream too fast to take pics!
google avatar

Ayala B.

Yelp
Jake...stick to your day job at State Farm I had the GA peach and Blackberry pie "ice cream" that was horrible. The "ice cream" was NOT creamy at all, left an undesirable film on the roof of my mouth, and didn't taste like anything but sugar and ice. The chocolate though...oh you must mean the nearly Quick mix and deer park water. This stuff should not be able to be called ice cream for real. I will not be coming back to Jakes ever again...only Jeni's for me, thanks. PS: make sure you iron those khakis Sincerely, your friendly neighbor!!
google avatar

Carla M.

Yelp
Way too rich and sweet! I could not even enjoy the ice cream and wasted $6 because the butter pecan was too sweet. They didn't have it available to sample or else I would've sampled and knew it wasn't for me. I wanted to like it because I heard so many rave reviews but it's not for me. The staff was nice thought, just too rich of ice cream for my desire.
google avatar

Carrie Neal W.

Yelp
YUM! We aren't usually in this 'hood but after dinner at Rathbun's dessert was simply necessary. Enter Jake's! The chocolate really was Slap Yo Mama good - love the tiny flecks of chocolate in it; paired perfectly with my choice of Strawberry Fields, their perfect classic version of this flavor. My beloved was more creative and enjoyed the Butterfinger paired with PB & Jammy. Two scoops apiece, devoured. The Snickerdoodle cookie I got for later (like, 2 hours!) was good if a little "crunchy." Two thumbs up for Jake's.
google avatar

Karnesha S.

Yelp
I come here whenever I'm on the Beltline and need to take a break for something sweet and cold. I've never had anything outstanding and if it wasn't for the location, would probably never come at all. It does the trick but it's definitely not one of my favorite ice cream places.
google avatar

Shannon H.

Yelp
The boys running the counter and register are most friendly and polite! Short supply of flavors for Saturday at 8pm. Slap Yo Momma Chocolate isn't very chocolatey (as you may be able to tell by my picture), but it's their most popular. Husband liked his chocolate chip mint, and that it had decent chunks of mint cookies throughout. The Mexican Chocolate has a nice zing of heat on the end of each bite (too spicy for this gringo). 2 out of 3 of our sugar cones broke, so we had to eat them fast. Floors, tables, and chairs were dirty and sticky. Not a place I'd want to sit to eat, but okay for a treat to walk around eating.

Yelp
For a little one scoop waffle cone, this was sort of on the expensive side. The ice cream was good -- toffee flavored -- don't get me wrong, but I guess it's the convenience of this location being located at the end of the Belt Line (near the end of the skate park side where the pavement stops). They have other goodies like baked goods, smoothies, etc. Oh. Their ice scream selection ranges about 12 to 15 choices. The staff was friendly, and there were sitting both inside and outside (porch area available as well). The parking lot from my side view is very limited.

Yelp
I walked into Jake's after exploring the Krog Street Market and surrounding area. My thoughts: 1. The building: it's just okay. It looks to be in need of repairs. The coolers look old, the outside of them is lookin a bit rough, and the bare menu board led me to believe they were actually closed when I walked in. The floors are very lopsided and left be feeling a bit off balance. The cash register is in a weird spot, and I wasn't sure of where to stand -- by the register itself? At the bar thats five or so feet away? Somewhere else? Its just awkward. The tables and chairs inside and out look like they were cute ten years ago, but it's starting to look dilapidated. The baseboards were dirty, and the floors look like they need some TLC. The outside looks cute and rundown in a shabby chic way. The inside looks rundown in a rundown way. 2. The location: Great! It's just off the Beltline and very close to Krog Street Market and Studioplex. 3. Parking: There's a very small lot out front and some street parking in the area, but the most readily available option is to pay for a spot nearby. This is a busy area, and parking is going to be a challenge most days and times. 4. Staff: The staff were kind and friendly and about as "professional" as you'd expect young folks to be who are working in an ice cream shop. Not exceptional but no complaints. 5. The ice cream: I had a scoop of apple crumble piescream in a cup with a sugar cone for $4.88. It was a very liberal serving. It reminded me of ice creams I've had in other countries -- not overly sweet or creamy. It felt homemade but not particular special. The consistency reminded me of making snow cream at home when I was little. The flavor was pretty good though a bit too much vanilla and a bit too little apple pie. Overall: I'd come back if I was in the area and in the mood for a sweet or cool treat, but I'd never make a special trip for it. I'm convinced the stellar location keeps this place open given the wide variety of other and better ice cream spots in the Atlanta area. Everything else was just okay.

Yelp
I was waiting at Studioplex for my bf and decided to walk one block down to Jakes. The employee was nice and welcomed me in. He was helping other so as I looked for my flavor, the first cooler I came across I zeroed in on. I saw little black specs in the ice cream and went in for a better look. I also saw little Gnats flying around and put two and two together. The black specs were gnats in the ice cream. While I was a little disgusted I pretty much sized up all the remaining ice cream and concluded it was only an issue in one cooler. I did get ice cream but none with chocolate chips or anything. It was good and I was satisfied. My only issue is if I saw them, how did the employer not?

Yelp
Jake's Ice Cream is a cute little ice cream shop located off the Beltline close to Krog Street Market. We stopped by because it looked so interesting and ice cream sounded good on such a hot day. Service is friendly. Their ice cream flavors all sound interesting, so they let us try a few flavors before deciding. We got the Salted Caramel, Tiramisu, and Slap Yo Mama. The scoops are all huge. The ice cream is pretty good and the flavors all definitely matched their names. I didn't notice anything too special or different about it. Overall, I'd recommend Jake's if you're in the area and craving some ice cream. Other than that though, I'd probably just stop by a grocery store.

Yelp
Now I can't run around and give a ice cream place a higher grade than my favorite but this place comes so close to my fave which I won't mention because if you read my reviews you would know what is my fave place , but this spot is good and have variety for all kinds of people who like creative flavors and options for people with dietary restrictions and or preference in eating . I will only say be prepared to be in a line but look at the menu online and come ready to have an amazing experience .

Yelp
If this place is looking to survive they are going to need to increase the flavors, update the selection board, and improve the structure. Telling people " we are making more flavors in the back" every time we come there is beyond pathetic. You have 6 flavors. Face it. Your competition has 25 flavors and is literally across the street. Would love to keep patronizing but c'mon. Improve or sell to one who will improve.
