"Situated next to the Calvin, one of Northampton’s many live music venues, Jake’s is the ideal spot, whether you’re recovering from last night’s debauchery or meeting a professor for brunch. The pancakes are as good as any diner flapjacks, and the Benedict is sure to please, but don’t hit Jake’s without trying the hash of the day in flavors like Moroccan beef, Italian sausage and peppers, and taco supreme, along with the traditional corned beef variety." - Nat Belkov

This was a great experience. The staff here were very friendly and professional. The food was delicious. The interior is nice, kinda cramped for a fat guy like me. Parking sucks. There is paid street parking but the sidewalk is really high and you can't open the passenger side door without parking somewhat in the street. Also apparently there is always a wait. When we got here around 10 am we were told a 20 minute wait for the bar and it was more like a 30 minute wait. That being said I am looking forward to going back soon.

Great service, good food, just wished that the establishment served all day. It can be a long wait for a table, but it is worth the wait

I love this place. I come here whenever I come back to the hamp to visit. The food is always so tasty and well seasoned. The staff is down-to-earth, friendly and attentive. My only thing is... it could use a good dusting... just don't look up? It definitely give it its charm for sure. I've brought many friends here over the years and will continue to visit, dusty or not!

I find it hard to find restaurants nowadays with good food options. Here I had a hard time deciding between what I wanted, everything sounded and looked delicious. My wife got Jake's eggs with sausage, bacon, and a chocolate chip pancake. I got the lox Benedict and blueberry pancakes. The food was way better than we thought it'd be! We were blown away by the food and the service provided by our waitress! This is definitely a place we will remember!

Edit: owner called me shortly after my initial review to apologize, offer additional compensation, and to let me know he was having kitchen staff go through all their produce. He seemed genuine in his apology, and I'm hopeful that my partner and I will be able to try their food again in the future. From what he said, they receive their produce pre- washed, and will be rewashing anything they get in the future just to be safe. My partner and I usually really love the food here, especially the 3-seed sourdough. Unfortunately, the most recent time we ordered food from here via doordash there was a pretty big bug larvae that we could see was cooked in with the rest of my food. I understand that accidents happen and working with fresh veggies runs the risk of the occasional bug, but the size of the thing made us concerned about how it went unnoticed. Hopefully this was a one off and the resturant works on its quality checks, but we will likely not try their stuff again for a while.

Google
Excellent breakfast spot. The pork belly eggs Benedict was quite good! Many breakfast places in the area are order-at-the-counter type, but here they have wait staff, which I much prefer.

Google
The best breakfast place we found in Northampton, we ordered a downtown and a shakshuka and highly recommend. The high quality ingredients and variety of options make it a 5/5 food experience, the service was great and the place was a bit dark and small but overall it was a great experience

Jake's is a cozy breakfast/lunch eatery on King Street in Northampton, Massachusetts. The establishment offers egg dishes, French toast, and pancakes, as well as a variety of salads, sandwiches, and burgers. We arrived on a Friday morning just after 9:30. The place was busy, with almost all the inside tables filled, and every outside seating occupied. There were also a few seats available at the bar. Our hostess seated us at a table indoors. We ordered mimosas and coffee as well as our meals. The Jake's Eggs, included two eggs any style (we selected fried hard) served with home fries and toasted 3-seed sourdough. The food was well-prepared and very flavorful. Also selected was the Basic Sandwich, with two fried eggs and a sausage patty, topped with cheddar cheese on a toasted king sized English muffin. Although the sandwich was delicious, the spices in the sausage weren't quite to my liking, Still, it was enjoyable enough that I didn't feel like removing the patty from the sandwich. We both ordered a side of bacon, which was thick, plentiful, and pleasing. It was also not greasy, which made it all the more tasty. The atmosphere was convivial and agreeable, which added to the pleasant experience. If you find yourself walking by one morning searching for something to eat, it would behoove you to give Jake's a try.

Yelp
We just moved to the area from Texas, so we have been on the look out for a new breakfast place. Jake's is everything we have been looking for. Lemonade- Slaps 10/10 Coffee- Slaps 10/10 Andouille Sausage Hash- Slaps 10/10 Pancake Sammie- SLAPS 1000000/10 Service was fast and friendly, and the restaurants vibes are immaculate.

Yelp
Jake's is keeping up Great Food and service !! We love the delicious Burritos and Pancakes.

Yelp
"I'll trust in you And know that you Will wait for me" (Lennon and McCartney) Jake's (next door to the old Calvin Theater which has sadly closed) was jam packed when we arrived at 10:30 on a Sunday morning. It was a 45-minute wait before we were seated at an outdoor table. Our fantastic server, Amina, told us Jake's is always busy on the weekends because its one of the very few places in Northampton that serves a brunch type meal. Their menu reflects their 8-3 hours, so we saw plenty of eggs and hash dishes, plus french toast, biscuits and gravy, and breakfast sandwiches. If you don't want to go the breakfast route, have no worries because Jakes's has salads, burgers, sandwiches, tacos, chili, and bowls. They also have some specials hidden on the back of the drink menu, and we missed them completely. We ordered their breakfast tacos and they were fantastic. Each taco was a double corn tortilla packed with scrambled eggs, black beans and a delicious pico de gallo. I could have added a protein (one option was a soy), but I really didn't need it because the tacos were huge. And were a great bargain at just $8. My wife ordered a single buttermilk pancake ($7) with a chocolate chip upgrade ($1), and it was a pretty good sized pancake. The food was great, but I thought their $3.50 charge for a coffee or an iced coffee was a bit high. Anyway, we had a lovely brunch, the food was great, and Amina was a real delight to interact with.

Yelp
Pancake perfection! As friendly and fast service as possible. The wood paneling gives it a pub feel. There is no better breakfast in the Valley. Quinoa Bowl or Huevas Rancheros are so healthy that the trajectory of your entire day can be improved as though you went to the gym for 45 minutes. Sad? Pancakes can soak that sadness up along with the real maple syrup they give you. Go to the gym for 45 minutes & you're right there with the Quinoa Bowl. I bet a Quinoa Bowl, a nitro coffee and a good run would be enough to boost any weekend up at least two letter grades.

Yelp
After finishing a race in the area, I was dying for sustenance, specifically, a burger. Jake's looked like it had plenty of options. We had to wait about 20 minutes for a table, not bad at all, and we spent some time wandering around the area and looking at shops before our name was called. (They utilize the nifty Yelp waitlist, so you can track where you are in line.) Burger was simple but excellent (as someone who's not usually into red meat), held together okay, and had a tasty sauce. If you get all the options like my husband (guac, egg, bacon), it will absolutely require a fork and knife to eat, but I like to keep my burger simple and didn't have any issues with things plopping out along the sides. I was in the mood for fries but they only offered home fries, so went with cole slaw instead. Curry tomato bisque was solid, with a mild kick. I primarily wanted something hot. The table next to us was gushing about the hash and eggs Benedict, so if we're ever in the area again, I'll try that. Our waiter was super nice and food came out blessedly quickly. Parking: no issues finding a street spot nearby, and parking is free on Sundays.

Sabrina G.

Yelp
This place is amazing. They have the BEST eggs Benedict I have ever had. The first photo is the eggs Benedict I got 2 years ago and the second photo is the eggs Benedict I got today. They were both consistent in their flavor and their perfectly poached eggs. There are sun dried tomatoes, goat cheese, and garlic cloves in the dish and it is out of this world! I order the vegetable Benedict every time. I sat at the bar today and the service was excellent. If you have not been here before, you definitely need to. They serve both breakfast and lunch. They are open seven days a week from 8-3. I will be back again!

Graham P.

Yelp
Superb as always! Jake's never disappoints for friendly service and delicious brunch. Their BLT and pancakes were both fantastic

Chris A.

Yelp
First off, this place is just downright amazing for every reason. The food was absolutely amazing, the coffees were perfect and the service was the top notch. 6 of us ordered a solid variety of the breakfast options and there wasn't a bad bite. My House Hash w/ poached eggs may have been the best I've ever had. And our server, Amina, was sweet and dealt with our lateral of dumb humor and dad jokes. I highly recommend Jake's!

Tim Y.

Yelp
Wow what a disappointment. Travelling through the area and wanted to try Jake's based on the wonderful reviews. Unfortunately I was informed that they don't seat parties of one, even at the bar. Seemed strange since there were open seats but I guess it is what it is.

Katy B.

Yelp
Just as good as I remember it from my college days (in the late 1980s!) Maybe even better because now I really appreciate good service, nice vibes, and solid, unpretentious food at reasonable prices even more than I did back them...so much more rare. Thanks for hanging in there, Jake's...and for hiring friendly people

Kaddy R.

Yelp
I went with a friend for brunch around 10 am. There was a bit of a wait (15ish minutes), but totally worth it! I recommend the pork belly Benedict!! Comfortable atmosphere too.

Jane S.

Yelp
Me & my boyfriend were seated near the door where there are bins & other items the servers use that shouldn't be in the dining area, it was not a pleasant place to sit. We ordered breakfast, only thing that was good was the french toast, everything else including the drinks tasted low quality & wasn't seasoned well. For the price they're charging it should be much better, will not be returning, the service was also below average, the waitress didn't check in or refill my coffee

Paul Francis M.

Yelp
What a nice little place to grab a bite to eat. I thought on the way I was going elsewhere but was not the case. Tables are on the small side but not bad for two average size people. Food was good. I had the downtown which the eggs were on point. No pictures today but I do anticipate my coming back for another meal.

ParisAnne D.

Yelp
Be prepared for a wait. We arrived around 10 am on a Saturday in October. We were given a wait time of 30 min and it took about 25. I appreciate that they'll text you and you can see where you are on the waiting list. There's no room to wait inside so we spent most of the wait in our car as it was cold and wet and then we aired under cover nearby when it was almost our turn. Our server was friendly and the food was excellent. I had the pancakes with fruit compote and a side of hash and others in my party had pancakes and an egg dish. All yummy.

Colin S.

Yelp
Wow, bloody wow is all I can say.... In town from Charleston, SC visiting my wife's family and checked this awesome place out. The menu is huge !!! Something for every appetite. The fried oysters and shrimp were amazing and that's from someone who lives near the beach. The drinks are incredible also. We tried the mango / strawberry margarita and it definitely didn't disappoint so we ordered a pitcher of it. Best of all...the prices are surprisingly low and the service was spectacular. We were treated like family as soon as we walked in and our server Kayla didn't miss a beat. 5 Stars And 3 Thumbs Up From Us Highly recommend. We'll be back to check out the huge breakfast menu before we leave

Yelp
Can a simple brunch of eggs and hash elevate itself beyond the common? The answer to that question is an unequivocal "YES"! This quaint little college town brunch spot delivers. They specialize in hash, rotating through the proteins on a daily basis. The day we went, the choice was Moroccan beef. Delish! I really cannot effectively convey how they do it, but the hash is a wonder. I had the eggs over easy, and the preparation was nailed. And not to forget the bread which is sourced from a local bakery; a perfect co-star. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. We stopped in to get a table, and the wait was about a half hour. The hostess took our name, got our cell phone number and said she would text us when the table was ready. She said not to worry at all if we decided not to wait and chose somewhere else. With friendliness like that and the great reviews, we decided to wait. So glad we did! The hostess ended up being our waitress and made us feel welcome in that capacity. I would absolutely return!

Jenn K.

Yelp
I had the kale salad. The portion was very large but there was too much dressing in my salad. The dressing was decent but a bit too heavy for me the salad could have used a little less kale which would have balanced the salad better since there were barely other toppings. I had a single order of a pancake. The pancake was not very good- too dry. My daughter had the egg special with potatoes which she really liked. The bread that came with her dish was very good. I would not order the salad again but would try a different dish next time. I give this place 3.5 stars based on the average of our food. My food was 3 stars and my daughter really liked her order

Krista S.

Yelp
Perfect breakfast place! I had a delicious latte and amazing eggs Benedict. Server was also fantastic and made for a memorable experience. Highly recommend when visiting the Northampton area.

Ivan S.

Yelp
Unbelievably good breakfast with a variety of out of the ordinary eggs Benedict. The room is a bit noisy but the decor, of dark oak paneling, make up for the noisier than usual restaurant. we had excellent service..

Natalie H.

Yelp
Super friendly servers. The food was amazing. The coffees were great. My party got the chai, vanilla latte, and the hazelnut alcoholic coffee. Everyone loved it.

Kate L.

Yelp
Pancakes as big as your plate come with real maple syrup. An egg scramble was savory and delicious. Home fries were not as crispy as I prefer, but that is personal preference. Orange juice was very fresh and the coffee was strong and hot. Tried the hash of the day which had chicken and other assorted items. It was too spicy for the liking of anyone at the table. I would recommend a try it portion to see if you really want to order something this spicy ( a bit of a palate burner). The place is adorable and the service was friendly.

Mishka V.

Yelp
We love Jakes! Always good food, great service, and timely even though they're always packed on the weekends! A testament to what a great place it is.

Lisa G.

Yelp
Food is always fresh and delicious Worth the wait Unique quality Service fast courteous

Jenny W.

Yelp
Avoid and head over to The Dirty Truth! I went to Jake's after an. Hour long drive only to be brought back and forth from the bar top to main entrance, mind you have a mobility issue and wanted to sit an eat breakfast which was near impossible because their seating system is awful and the hostess is beyond biased.. I finally offered a $100 to get a table and then was told I could get a table after being told a party of one was not acceptable for a table.. this place has changed for the W-O-R-S-E .. ironically I am in town for a book signing discussion and happy I found The Dirty Truth for Saturday Brunch.. which was unbelievable! Unless you want pretentious bias odor.. Avoid Jake's!

David B.

Yelp
I come here with my parent's when they visit. They're obsessed now lol. The food here is great. It's usually packed because it's in such high demand. The server was very knowledgeable about the menu (as my dad was asking too many questions lol). The restaurant itself is pretty clean. The food comes out pretty quickly. Overall, a good experience.

Dennis R.

Yelp
Rude staff and very impatient. The hostess was particularly sour. The place was very tight but nice atmosphere. The food was ok.

Craig G.

Yelp
What a great place for breakfast. I have only stopped here once so far but was very happy with food quality - taste and portions. Great little spot - but a bit small - which is adds to ambiance - but place fills up quick. Enjoy

Michael Y.

Yelp
Stopped in to Jake's for the first time to kickoff our summer vacation. Random choice, based on the fact that they serve breakfast all day. Lucky enough to grab one of the three tables outside. "French/Italian cafe style" Collin was our waiter and was super friendly and helpful with menu selections and local business recommendations. 5 stars for him as well. We had the Homemade Hash and Jake's Breakfast sandwich. Honestly one of the best breakfast meals we have had in a while, and we love breakfast. Highly recommended. Open 8am to 3pm, so perfect breakfast/lunch stop. Thanks for kicking off our summer with a delicious bang! The Youngs

Yelp
Twenty to twenty-five years ago, I frequently visited Northampton. It was one of the few places near me where you could try lots of different types of cuisine. It was the first town where I had Indian food and Thai food. I also had Chinese, Japanese, Italian, Argentinian, Vegan, and Mexican food there. I viewed Northampton as a place to widen my horizons, which explains why I had never eaten at longtime Northampton institution Jake's until today. When I searched "lunch" in Yelp for Northampton, Jake's came up No. 1. So Jake's it was. Jake's is in a cool old building near the classic center of Northampton intersection. We sat outside at one of a few tables. Our server was friendly. After reviewing the menu and eating the Jake's Burger I ordered, I would say Jake's seems to be more of an all day breakfast place that has some lunch sandwich options. My food was just OK. The burger came with grilled onions, lettuce, tomato and house sauce and I added on American cheese. I also ordered home fries since they don't have French Fries. My burger arrived and I noticed that they forgot the American cheese. I asked the waitress to take the cheese off the bill. She offered to have the cook add it and I declined. Even with the cheese, the burger suffered by comparison to other great burgers I have had recently. There was just nothing special about the Jake's Burger. The quality of the meat was fine, and it had no noteworthy color, seasoning or texture. The home fries were also underwhelming. There was no uniformity to the size of the potatoes. Therefore, some pieces were under cooked and some were fine. They were all under seasoned. I might try Jake's for breakfast if I'm in the area, but I fail to see how it's the Number 1 lunch option in Northampton.

Iris G.

Yelp
Jake's was on our list during our weekend trip in NoHo but we were unsure how to coordinate given Yelp shows it's only takeout or delivery. Thankfully, during our morning bike ride around town, we saw a select amount of outdoor tables and thought we scored it big. We were right. Upon entrance, we were warmly greeted and seated. Our waitress was incredibly attentive, proactive and sure had a fantastic memory when we accidentally received a wrong order and she quickly solve it without our asking (we wouldn't have brought it up, understanding everyone is doing their best). We had a great dirty iced chai, iced mocha, hash of the day, shrimp Benedict and local toast with butter. Everything was super tasty and fresh. Would definitely recommend if you're in town!

Matthew R.

Yelp
Food was seriously delicious. The wait staff was attentive and friendly. My kids (5 & 7) loved it and so did my wife and I.

E Q.

Yelp
Not crazy about the setting, it's kinda dark and bar-like except near the windows. Service is good and the food is flavorful and creative.

Tricia B.

Yelp
Jakes was a perfectly fine way to start our day in Northampton. The outside is a bit dark, so I was momentarily afraid they were closed, and our trek from the public parking area was for naught. But closer inspection confirmed they were there! The waiter was very nice, and there were plastic dividers between tables. They do a corned beef hash of the day (the cheeseburger corner beef hash too adventurous for me), and have artisan sodas. The Coolidge was pretty tasty on the eggs - the garlic was a little too pale, but the little pockets of goat cheese hidden in the kale and eggs was creamy and delicious. The bread they provide was also incredible. The potatoes have a kick at the end of them, and personally the eggs and bread were more of a unique experience. There are two bathrooms downstairs in the basement. One has a toilet and urinal, one just has a toilet. The consumer can pick the bathroom of choice, and is a fine example of to sign a non-gender specific restroom.

Jennifer O.

Yelp
Omg.... I was here awhile back and got the pork belly Benedict and it was so dang good! The portion was huge, flavor was amazing, and I ate (almost) all of it. If you're nearby, don't hesitate to stop in.

Jessica C.

Yelp
We love Jake's! Always part of our Noho stops when we visit our Smithie . Generous, savory portions and friendly service.

Kimberly H.

Yelp
The food was delicious! Will definitely be back the next time we drive through the area. The wait was super short for Sunday around 10:30. I was a bit worried, seeing some recent poor reviews regarding wait time and service. Our service was excellent. We felt well taken care of and everything arrived quickly. We had the eggs in purgatory, pork belly Benny and hazelnut boozy coffee. Coffee was delicious with just the right amount of alcohol, the sauce on the eggs in purgatory was so good, and the pork belly was incredible and I loved the whole cloves of roasted garlic. Can't wait for our next visit.

Eric B.

Yelp
My daughter liked the home fries but was not a fan of the spices. She devoured her French toast with a big grin. My girlfriend loved the atmosphere and the attentive service from our waitress. She was friendly and had a smile each time she was at our table. The French toast with the berry compote was so delicious. The pancakes with the berry compote and butter was on point The presentation of the food and way everything was made tells that the cooks take pride and are talented. The breakfast sausage was made from scratch, where else can you get it from made like that? Jake's had us leaving full and satisfied.

Joel D.

Yelp
Crowded, dark, noisy, but no complaints from me, because my breakfast was great. Obviously that's one reason for the "crowded."

Yeselie M.

Yelp
Poor customer service. Walked in and was told they would not seat us. Young girl with curly hair and glasses was unfriendly rude and walked away. Was told they stopped serving at 2:45pm and it was not 2:45pm. Staff need better training on how to talk to customers.

Sarah C.

Yelp
Came here for brunch while in from out of town -- we were able to get a table for 6 within about 30 minutes on a Friday at 11am, and the service was great (our waiter was a delight). The mimosas were good and some of our party liked their food a lot, but the dishes seemed to be hit or miss. I got the famous hash and was very disappointed, so was the other person who got it -- tasted overpoweringly of onions and was not good. The bread that came with my dish was excellent, which was what I filled up on. Overall I think the place is pretty okay, but I wouldn't recommend the hash!

John D.

Yelp
Jake's is now permanently off of our list of restaurant options in Northampton. We are a family of four with two young children, and this apparently precludes us from being allowed to eat outside. We'd called ahead to check on whether our dog was allowed. The answer was yes, so we were excited to enjoy an outdoor early morning brunch before the predicted record heat. When we arrived, we saw three small tables for two outside, one of which was occupied. I went inside to say we had a party of four and could we sit at two of the tables. The woman at the reception podium looked outside where my family was waiting, then shook her head and said that no the policy was only parties of two. I asked if they could make an exception, and the answer was no. I went outside to let my family know, and my wife wondered if we could just sit at separate tables and get separated checks. I went back inside to ask one more time if they could treat us as two separate parties of two with separate checks. She looked outside again and said that it would be ok so long as the kids each sat with an adult at a separate table. Ok, great. Went back outside, and the kids were excited to have "dates" with mom and dad at separate tables. We settled in and waited. And waited. After a little while longer my wife went in to ask about menus and was told that they had changed their mind and we weren't allowed to eat outside. At this point I was more than a little frustrated. I went back inside to ask why we were not able to eat outside. The woman who initially greeted us was not there. Instead a young man informed me that it was policy. I asked why we weren't allowed to sit at separate tables with separate checks. He rudely repeated that: it was policy, that I'd "already been in there several times, and I won't allow it." A bit taken aback, I left and broke the news that our parent/child dates weren't allowed here. Disappointed, we searched for other outdoor options in Northampton. After coming up empty handed, we drove home, dropped the dog off and went to The Stables, where our family of four was allowed to sit at the counter by the kind and awesome staff. To the staff at Jake's: you treated our family unfairly and rudely on our first visit, and you won't be getting our business in the future.

Misael R.

Yelp
Jake's is my go to Breakfast Spot in Noho when I'm feeling like I want to introduce comfort into my day. The food is fairly priced with fantastic quality. Alexis was amazing, helpful, and knowledgeable. A must visit when out for Brunch in Northampton

Matthew G.

Yelp
Very good pub-style food, a cut above in quality. Nicely done burger, correctly made to order, well-prepared. Delicious kale salad with chickpeas and wallnuts, which was quite large, fresh and tasty, and a curry tomato bisque, which was delicious. Service was a little bit slow but friendly. Bathrooms in the basement not optimal but workable.

John B.

Yelp
Great breakfast and friendly staff. Will be our go to brunch spot in Northampton for sure.

Joey B.

Yelp
Eggs Benedict with lots of yummy variations. The pork belly one is amazing. Breakfasts so good we haven't ordered anything else.

Bobby C.

Yelp
Cozy place... food and service was excellent. Highly recommend for breakfast. Meter parking outside

Christopher B.

Yelp
Down home breakfast, kind staff, usually busy. Go for the food stay for the people! Booths & tables sometimes a wait.

Eddie N.

Yelp
Good breakfast joint but I think it's time to move on from the pandemic panic. Will come a lot more often if we wouldn't feel like everyone is so nervous about Masks and distance. Food is good !

Eric W.

Yelp
Great little restaurant with a great waitstaff and a great menu. Tried something I've never had before and I liked it. My companions three of them all liked their chow as well and neither of them have been here before. Thankfully as I was the one who had the responsibility of picking out place to meet. As usual parking was pretty horrible for Northampton and we had to wait twenty minutes. Gave us all a chance to catch up on old times.

Sabrina I.

Yelp
Really enjoy this place. Food is good, very reasonably priced, and service is good. I've been twice and have yet to be disappointed.
