Yelp
Gas Station food, worth 5 stars? You bet your surprised foodie self.
Let's make it clear, if it's your first time here, it's a gas station, it's a Chevon. It's hard to tell what to expect, the sign isn't clear what to expect. Be prepared, it's a convenience store, for the first 30 feet into the place. Walk past the shelves of typical gas station food, and you'll discover with your hungry self, a counter, a menu plastered to the wall, and happy workers, looking to serve, Scratch Made, "mostly" organic, local derived goodness.
It was post lunch, the girl and I, came here looking for food, we were hungry, and why not gas station. What we saw, was a menu full of various eats, including a BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, a Shrimp Po-Boy, a Tri-Powered burger (which was three meats), a turkey sandwich, and lastly a King Salmon sandwich. What to order, everything actually sounds amazing... I order a Shrimp Po-boy, and she orders the King Salmon Sandwich. After a few minutes, and noticing that there seemed to be a steady flow of people coming in and ordering, our food came out.
Firstly, the owner mentions that they ran out of bread for the Po-boy, instead, offered up their homemade bun. So how was the food? The shrimp was fried perfectly, the lettuce was crisp, and the bun... It was excellent. It was light, tinge sweet and perfect for the fillings. She got a nice salmon fish sandwich... And while I didn't eat it, hearsay would describe it as pretty darn good.
Also, we got their donut/scone thing... Which was a cross between the two texture wise... Baked, raisins and coated in sugar glaze. It was a small yet delicious bite, well made and delish.
So should you go to a gas station for food... If they are like this one, then this is a stern YES.
