Update - bumping it up a star since they gave a reasonable response and refunded the wings without me requesting it. Jakes is a shadow of what it once was. About mid way through the pandemic, everything tanked. They cut ~half of the wing sauces, specifically all of the spicy ones. They never brought back beer dinners (it was a excellent food/beer pairing prefix dinner ) and only brought back weekly pint nights (free glass when ordering the brewery's pint) to semi-monthly. There were prolly 3 years I would come weekly for the wings and glass. The food quality now is just bad. My last order (3/15/25) the wings were barely cooked with feathers still on the wings (see pics). It's just sad. Jakes used to be the best wing spot in town. And it's still a blast playing pool here. The staff is still incredible. These failures are definitely not on them. It seems like its the owners. Thankfully, the last time they had my favorite super hot wing sauce (Francisco), one of the bartenders told me that was their last batch. But he brought out the recipe for me to take a picture of it :) Maybe one day it'll regain its glory. The community and staff there rock. If it does, I'll update this review again.

Great place to have some food, drinks, pool and sports! The food is typically hot and fresh and hasn't let me done in my experiences going there. I typically order wings and mozzarella cheese sticks. My only complaint everything I'm there are a couple of the regular servers act as though you're troubling them when ordering food or drinks (especially if you expect them to check back on you) versus being inviting and welcoming for betterment of the business they work for. A couple of these servers should be put out to graze at IHOP or Waffle house with their infectious attitude!

I had a blast. The tables are nice, and it's just a great spot to kick back, shoot some pool, and have a good time. Honestly, probably the best billiards in Greensboro if you ask me. The atmosphere is chill, and it’s the kind of place you can lose track of time in. Overall, if you're looking for a laid-back spot with good food and fun vibes, Jake's is worth checking out.

Always a great place to eat and catch up with old friends. I had the Carolina burger and it holds its own among others I've ate. Service was top notch and friendly. Plenty of pool tables if that's you thing. My thing is great food and this is the place to find it.

I've frequented Jake's since 2021 and the experiences keep me coming back. Sometimes it can get quite busy, and with that, service/cleanliness can be a challenge, but that is to be expected. They have a good food/drink selection and I am very satisfied with the food quality. It's a great environment to catch up with friends!

Jake is a pretty good sports bar. They have pool tables and ping pong. The food was pretty solid. Inside and outside seating. Dogs welcome out side. Big selection of draft beer and bottle/can options, too.

I love this place. I’m here right now. The food is my favorite bar food in Greensboro. If you like hot buffalo wings, the pornstar sauce is the very best in town. Honestly all the food is good, though. Servers are terrific, it’s a very chill vibe. Just come here.

First time going, I had a great time shooting pool with friends, kicking back a few shots, and enjoying some food. Staff were nice and so were the regulars. I'm sure I'll be back sometime when I've actually got some free time. (Also, it's walking distance from one of the nerd stores I go to on occasion)

Jake's is one of my favorite bars/pool halls in Greensboro, for a lot of reasons! There's plenty of places to park, drinks are reasonably priced, and the food and service is always top notch! Vegetarians will be happy here there are a lot of vegetarian options! I get their veggie burgers or their tree hugger sandwich and one of my all time favorites are their black bean sticks! I've always heard amazing things about their wings from my friends as well. They do start ID'ing after a certain time, and it does get kinda packed on the weekends. Takeout options are available! There are various activities throughout the bar, there is a ping pong table in the back, and darts tables as well. There's a lot of places to sit and you can also play pool and eat at the same time as there are tables and booths all around the area! Overall a great place to watch a game, get a drink, play some pool and eat some amazing food as well

No one is coming here for the ambiance but they are coming for pool, darts, and great fun - oh and the food is fantastic. It took over a decade to get my first meal from Jake's and I am not sure why! Service is great and super friendly. The food is so tasty and great vegetarian options for a "sports bar." So much seating, and great for groups. Prices are great and I will be back again and again. Highly recommended and kicking myself for waiting so long!

The wings are very good. They give you an option on how crispy and then they actually follow up on that. Great atmosphere for either late night or mid day. The crowds come out at night so be cautious if that's not what you're looking for. During the day it's quieter and they have plenty of options for games. You can shoot pool, throw darts, or play ping pong. The booths are big and there is plenty of tables. Service was quick and the food was delicious.

Not me writing this review while listening to a medieval hip hop version of STILL D.R.E. STILL - Repping the best chicken cobb salad all across the world. STILL - Hittin them crispy tots with the seasonings girl... STILL - Taking their time to perfect the Beef, and they're still across the street from the Sheetz. It's the J.B.L. All 2000s nostalgia aside, Jake's is still my absolutely go to for the best "bar food" in Greensboro. Starting with their excellent wings and sauces, cobb salad, chicken sandwiches or wraps, a litany of "fried deliciousness", and a darn good burger this place has it all. Plus, they have an extensive beer list, wines for those who prefer grape expectations, and can make you most any cocktail you please. Just go and enjoy!

Been here multiple times and it's always a good time. Great food and many different taps to choose from. Pool tables all over as well as ping pong. Plenty of seating area inside and out.

We're in the presence of a Greensboro heavy-weight. A local institution of billiards, good food, and good times. Their seasoned tots are impecable in crunch and taste. Paired with their signature ranch or blue cheese and it's a done deal. I'm a fan of their large beer menu, you're bound to find something that'll go with the food. I'm an even bigger fan of their hot dogs and tots--a dynamic duo. Service is excellent as usual.

Place a order over the phone. The guy read back my order and gave me the total of $37. Said it'll be ready to pick up in 20 mins. I made my way there to and I looked at the reciept it was like $20. I saw that one of the items was missing. I wasn't planning on waiting another 20 mins for the order. So I told him to forget about it. This place use to be fun and but everything seems to go downhill.

The tots and homemade ranch literally summon me. I love their tacos, but this time I tried the Merle's Melt hot ham and Swiss which was perfection. The atmosphere is always chill, the beer selection is impeccable, and you know you'll always leave happy.

I frequent here often, it is usually a hit or miss. Depending on the staff. The service can vary but oftentimes I find myself at Jake's for their selection of drinks and food at late hours of the night. The ambiance of this place is quite lively, often packed with patrons. I once waited outside for over an hour, despite there being plenty of space inside. The setup is impressive, featuring pool tables, a front patio, and various games. The seating is comfortable, and the bathrooms are adequately stocked. The cleanliness is decent, especially for a weekend spot. The food is consistently good, though the quality of drinks can vary depending on the bartender. Service can be hit-or-miss, with some bartenders not offering a warm greeting. Despite the busy atmosphere, it remains a solid choice for a casual hangout and a good drink. I generally give them the benefit of the doubt, appreciating the overall vibe and amenities.

Jake's literally has the best wings!!! So many flavors to choose from and only $1.50 to add a side. Don't even get me started on the drinks and service! Check this place out if you haven't already!

Wow! I hadn't been to Jake's since before Covid. I knew they had some specials on Monday and was delighted to find they still do. Monday specials are 1/2 off all beer and $2 hotdogs! Score! My brother and I came up and had several craft beers - such an amazing selection. And that price is RIGHT, my friends. The hotdog was TOP NOTCH! And the tots?! Incredibly crispy and hot and fresh. Paired with the perfect ranch The bartenders are super nice and give the best service. Checking in frequently and anytime your beer is empty. It wasn't as busy as I expected which meant parking and finding a place to sit was a breeze. I will definitely be back again soon! They have a different special every night!

If I could give it a 0, I would. The girl bartender there has the worst attitude and acts like her own crap does not stink. The food is mid, it is not good. They expect a good tip and take out a mandatory one even though the service was crap. I do not recommend this place.

A Greensboro staple, I've been coming to Jake's for years upon years...even when it was just half the bar. Great overall vibe, you have your regulars, newbies, college students, and older crowd...a good mixed crowd. Their beer selection is some if not tops in GSO as far as the long list of local craft beer, or commercial domestic/import beers. They also do mixed drinks/spirits. I will say the food is one of the best as well and not your typical bar food. The kitchen staff and service is great. Great wings flavors and a very, very underrated burger. Indoor and outdoor seating, pool tables, darts, games, and plenty of TVs to watch the game. Highly recommended not just bar, but overall location

Jake's has theeeeeee best Cobb salad in Greensboro and this is not up for debate! That bacon, eggs, corn, and homemade ranch dressing sets this place apart from all the others. Like, the eggs on the salad do not taste like those bagged boiled eggs they sell in the grocery store that you pick up for a quick fix and then realize after you bite into it that, "this ain't it, what did I just bite into?",and spit it out! I usually add grilled or fried buffalo shrimp to the salad for more protein. You don't really need it, but that's another option. The tap beer is always fresh and delicious and the bottled beers are always super cold. I enjoy the atmosphere as there are pool tables and darts. Make sure you bring your id as they do scan them after 5p for entry. Enjoy!

I never really think of Jake's Billiards when it comes to food but it is actually a really good spot and location for eats and drinks. I've known of Jake's throughout the years and a fun place to hang out with their vast selection of draft beers. There's a very open patio outside and plenty of booths and tables inside. The food itself is not your typical bar food. Yes, it does have your variety of fried food but tons more. They have huge salads and I love the tacos from there. A great thing is that I have never had a complaint about the food and my order has always been correct. A place to go to enjoy with friends or even a lunch or dinner.

GHOE Weekend! It was supposed to be a great weekend. It took about an hour to order wings and tater tots which our friends took about 15-25 mins for their order when we ordered at the same time. Our order was placed before it got packed (to give more context). When asked to speak to a manager, David, the manager, was very rude and didn't want to talk to us with a condensing attitude. He was walking away from the conversation when I was trying to figure out what was going on with our order. He should not be managing intense pressure and stress if he can't speak to loyal customers even in that situation. With multiple years of customer service experience, the customer is usually right. Again, I just think that was a terrible situation and experience for someone who heard exceptional things about this establishment.

If you want the best chicken wings in Greensboro, North Carolina, Jake's is the spot. Laid-back sports bar good drinks food price is great customer service is great. all the bartenders are very nice. They have never disappointed me I recommend highly.

Ordered a drink, the bartender was oddly rude and didn't give me my 8$ change for a 12$ drink . I don't know why he expected me to just tip him .., then he made my drink wrong . I order a martini there all the time . horrible service. I love the girls a lot more .

I've been coming in here for lunch quite a bit since Covid hit, they do the spacting and all else right - it is a not exactly a seedy sports bar, but a bit of paint and polish could help the over all atmosphere. And it definitely is a sports bar, with a double handful of big screen TVs, billiard tables, several dart areas, and even ping pong. The food is definitely pub food - wings, salads (well-sized), tacos, nachos, sandwiches, burgers, fries, and so on. In particular they offer a Fried Chicken sandwich, and a Fried Fish sandwich, both of which are huge, and both of which are excellent. The Buffalo Wings are noteworthy, as are the Tater Tots, and the Beer Battered Mushrooms. The service is always spot on, and the beer menu is impressive.

Consistent food, great service, cold cider...who could ask for anything more? I've had the same sandwich on both trips this week. My roommate had a bacon, egg, cheese and he gave it 5 stars. My new local favorite...shame my first visit took so long...but at least it happened

Definitely a place for fun and laughter. A great pickups and converse locations for the singles. This place is packed and full of life, and alcohol is pretty cheap here as well. They offered billiards, darts, ping pong, and Jenga here too! Mostly billiards because of course its Jake's Billiards! Love the place, and its a place the locals, college kids go to!

After winning some trivia nearby, me and some friends decided to hit up Jake's for some late-night drinks and bar food. Jake's is a huge sports bar with lots of seating, TV's, pool tables, and a nice outdoor area. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. We got an order of the black bean egg rolls as an appetizer. They were alright. I ordered with "Dirty" (chicken instead of a black bean burger) tree hugger wrap. It's a common selection of mine as it has a lot of vegetables in it as well as cheese mixed with a Vidalia onion vinaigrette. I have to say, it was not as good as it usually is. I don't know whether to blame it on the cook that night or because it was late night, but it felt soggier and less seasoned. I got the homemade chips as my side with blue cheese. Burgers were on special, so my husband got the Baja Burger (pepper jack, mango salsa, red cabbage, avocado aioli) with a side Caesar. I tried it, there are better burgers in Greensboro as far as appearance and taste, but it was fine. One friend ordered hot wings; their wings are really good. The other got the veggie dog with sweet potato tots. Being vegetarian, she was concerned after taking a bite that it was a regular hot dog based on its texture. She had me try it, and it tasted like a regular hot dog to me. The waitress was very nice and confirmed with the cook it was veggie. If they were telling the truth (which one would assume so) they have one of the best veggie hotdogs I have ever tried!

I love Jake's. It's a great place to go for a diverse crowd and the security is good. I've managed to hookup here more than any other place in Greensboro. There are straights, gays, blacks, whites, asian and anybody else you can think of. And they are all ages from young to old

I love Jakes & with all the uncertainty going on, Grant made my experience very much so, worth the while! I love when he's there. The food is great and so is the service! I'd come everyday that he works if I could!

The wings at this place are absolutely terrible - they're unrefreshed and smelly. I've given them three chances, and each time the outcome has been the same, so I definitely won't be trying them again.

Always great service with friendly staff. The food is better than you would expect from a bar/billiard. Much better. Everything I've had this far has been delicious and presented well.

This is my second time here and I continue to be impressed with their service first and foremost. They have a tag team approach to service and someone always seems to know the minute you want something. They have an amazing and diverse beer selection that is listed on the UNTAPPD app which makes it easy to find something I like. I haven't tried a lot of their menu, but the couple of things I have tried were really good and served quick and hot.

I usually don't do reviews but the food was delicious, the service was amazing, and the environment was inviting. I'll definitely be back the next time I'm in Greensboro for a concert.

I've been coming to this place for almost 17 years and i have to say it is still just as amazing as when I first started going. Great staff, great vibes and even better food. I go to play ping pong and the food. I thought I would write them a review and increase awareness About how cool they are. You will not go wrong with any of the food items! My favorites are the steak quesadilla, chicken sandwich and wings :) if you don't believe me, that's cool, go try it and see if you don't feel the same.

This was my first time visiting Greensboro, I came with a friend and her friend. I had some kind of chicken wrap with tots. The food came relatively quick and it was delicious.

Great. Hot. Fresh. Affordable. Clean. Cool. Entertaining. Mixed crowds really representative of the city itself. Will continue to make this a stop when in town. See y'all again soon!

Jakes! Definitely a top 5 bar in Greensboro, NC. If you wanna hang out and shoot some pool while enjoying a couple "Strong" drinks this is the spot! Get here early because this place does fill up fast and you will be waiting in line if limited capacity because of Covid is still a thing...First server we got could've stayed at home that day, but the second one was chill. I've tried a couple different items of food on other occasions, but this was the first and last time I'll EVER try their wings. The flavor choices should say ( BBQ Oil, Teriyaki Oil, Mild Oil or Hot Oil) because that's the only thing I could taste. Doubt y'all will care tho because drunk people eat anything lmao...

I went there when it opened so it wasn't really crowded. It's a really nice place to shoot pool, many tables. We didn't fry the food but as the waitresses were bringing them to tables, they sure looked good. Very friendly environment

Ordered the Buffalo Chicken Sandwich and its the beat i've had since moving to the Carolinas from NY. My kids also loved the chicken fingers, The wife got the wings and she loved them.Thank you for having us.

Great local dive for lunch, dinner, late night, and of course drinks! I'm not much of a drinker, so I can't speak to their beer selection, but I do love food. Specifically theirs. They have amazing sandwiches, wraps, and wings. Everything comes out hot and fresh. My go-to is the buffalo chicken sandwich. They put an enormous chicken breast coated in your favorite wing sauce, for which they have many to choose! You wouldn't think a bar would have great salads, but this is the only place that I consistently order the cobb salad on the side. Overall service is pretty good. They do get pretty busy on weekends or trivia nights, so you can expect the normal delays with food and service, but nothing to complain about.

Another place I visited while on my work trip. This place is amazing! It's a great bar, but their food hold it's own! I was told they had great wings so of course I had to try them. No regrets! The chicken was thicc, meaty, juicy, and cook perfectly! The hot was perfect. Nothing that's going to burn you up, there are other sauces on the menu for that. But the lemon pepper wings stole the show! By far best lemon pepper wings I've ever had. All the flavors are there and it's not just some cheap store bought rub. My mouth is watering just typing this. Looking for an excuse to make my way back just for the wings.

The food is good. One of my favs are the lemon pepper Chicken Wings. My favorite waiter is Josh! He always makes sure my order is correct!

I usually love this place it's a college classic, but with this being a homecoming weekend and we have been waiting in line for 45 Minutes is absolutely unacceptable. We are waiting outside to spend incredible amounts of money, and we have been waiting while outside tables are unoccupied. This is always a high volume weekend, for this venue to be severely understaffed and unprepared is incredibly disappointing to witness. A party of 10 already left to patronize another business. Incredibly disappointing.

I've been going to Jakes for years and I absolutely love them! The food specials are always delicious and a great value. They have daily drink specials and plenty of games to play like pool, darts, cornhole, ping pong and giant jenga. I've always had a great time when I come here and they are always busy (which is a good sign). Cici, David and Dustin are awesome!

Literally, everything I've tried on the menu has been awesome! Love the black bean burger, lemon pepper wings... I mean everything is great and also great prices!

Reluctantly, visited with my colleagues for lunch on Fri. Being completely transparent, I am that person who does not eat at hole-in-the-wall establishments. Call me bourgeoisie, if you must, but I am who I am. I will say that we were seated immediately by our quirky waiter (male with interesting beard). There were 12 of us. We did end up pulling over one more table just so we could have a little more room so we did not feel like we were eating on top of one another. As I am looking over my menu, over and over and over again, I am also checking for a food score. I never found it. Sigh. I even ventured to the ladies room and during my walk there, tried to find it posted somewhere...no such luck. So, I prayed that all would be well and waited for my food to arrive. I did have a little issue when placing my order with our waiter. I was at the end of the table, so I must have been seat #1 on his list. Well, I was having a really hard time choosing a selection that would suit my bourgeoisie needs, so I asked that he start at the other end of the table as I did not want to be the cause of holding my team up. Politely, he refused my request and stated that he did not want to confuse the seating since we were such a large group. Whatever floats your boat, but I will say that In now felt pressured to order. This is why I am giving the review a 4 out of 5. I ordered the appetizer of fried buffalo shrimp, well done, with ranch as my flavor (they have a wide assortment of flavors in the wing section) and a side of homemade chips. I like that you could add any side to the appetizer selection for only an additional $1. Our food took a while to come out, but that was to be expected with such a large group. I noticed that the food did come out in order too. So that made it easy for the gentleman who served us our food (different than our waiter). He was efficient at gathering everyone's after-order needs too; you know, the ketchup, extra ranch, etc. Everyone, including me, raved about their food. My shrimp were delicious! They were seasoned to perfection and crispy, just how I like my food. My homestyle chips with ranch sauce were great too. I will request that they are crisped in the future, but I surely ate everyone Friday. I have nothing bad to say about my food. I actually told my husband that we would return so he too could try the shrimp. We have patronized Jake's on many other occasion, but it was more to shoot pool or to just hang out. Now, I won't be afraid to eat from the kitchen...at least in the daytime hours.

This is within walking distance for me. Mikey at the bar is a HERO. The staff is always friendly the food always nails it. The energy here is like a family BBQ but a lil bit tipsy. GIF is a great server he so friendly always there when we need him. Overall the staff 10/10. The food 10/10. Environment 10/10. Always a win here

Me and some friends were feelings nostalgic for the college days and decided to take the drive from Raleigh to Greensboro for some jakes. I happened to leave my ID at home and didnt realize until half way on the journey that I didn't have it. Didn't think to much of it as I wasn't planning to drink anything and I had pictures of my passport and ID if needed. Walked up and was asked for my ID to get in. Explained the situation and it's seemed like the guy at the front was totally okay with the circumstances. When I was showing him a photo of my ID another guy came up and was nasty telling me how he couldn't accept it anything I had and only physical. I'm practically a 30 year old woman who drove over an hour wanted to reminisce on the glory days with a few friends. The man literally stayed at the door until we left to make sure his coworker didn't let us in. It gave "racially motivated" Noted.
