The only thing that I'm impressed by is 1. The portions and 2. How long Oklahomans are willing to wait for mediocre BBQ. The wait was insane and there wasn't anywhere to sit. So we huddled together getting hungrier and hungrier as mountains of curly fries passed by. The hostess was so sweet and kept us entertained for awhile, but we ended up waiting for over an hour.
We finally get a table, and the server did not have the same cheerful attitude as the host. We had to ask a lot of questions because we had never been there before and she didn't volunteer any info about the menu. She seemed irritated that she wasn't able to take our order and run. We got the Okie Fry appetizer, which is slices of fried potato, cheese, and bacon. We ate every bite because we were so hungry, but the fries were not cooked well. The slices were all at different thicknesses, so some pieces were burnt and some were raw.
I ordered the fried catfish for my entree with fried zucchini and spicy cornbread. My boyfriend had the ribs, brisket, curly fries, and potato salad. All of the portions were insanely large, but really weren't even that good unless you are starving to death. (And of course everyone is because of the lengthy wait after a drive to chickasha) The catfish was the best part. It was much better than the ribs my boyfriend ordered. With BBQ, I expect a crispy dry spice rub on the outside of moist and tender meat with yummy sauce. Well, they have good sauce. There spicy rub I crave was nonexistent. The meat was ok, but a bit tough. If I have to come back again, at least I know to stick with the catfish.
