Jake's Sports Bar

This was my first time ordering some at this place they did not care for my food properly at all food was cold & the bag was opened and my sauce was leaking all over. I will not be eating at this place at all. I attempted to call numerous time they don’t even pick up there phone. Don’t order for this place at all and the utensils were just in the bag with no plastic covering at all. They also provide the wrong food. I ask for chili and fries and look at the images or appear to be some cheese and pieces of salsa. Also queso was not provided as ordered. Not satisfied,

Sports bar. Lots of TVs. Good selection of beer. Great philly cheese steaks. Serves late.

I took a vendor here for lunch. The food was great and the service was very attentive. Many people come here for the Philly cheese steak but we enjoy the Buffalo Ranch Chicken Sandwich. It's big and perfectly cooked every time. It's a little confusing upon entering whether we order at the counter or seat ourselves but we took a seat and was promptly served. It would be a great place for after work but there's limited parking.

5/5! We ordered a burger, tots and onion fries, and they were amazing. Generous portion and price is reasonable.

Fast, friendly service and a good lunch crowd. I opted to try their Original Philly Cheese steak (sliced rib eye beef, grilled onions and Provolone cheese). It was good and filling! I'd go back to try another sub type sandwich again... or perhaps the fried catfish platter?

Saturday lunchtime, rainy day, was pretty quiet, ordered chicken tacos. Amazing! Best tacos ever! Get down there!!!

This is my first time ordering from this place and I did it thru lunchdrop. I’m honestly not happy with the food I received as you can see aside from the food being all over the box the romaine lettuce is not looking that good and I recently had food poisoning from another location so you would understand that I am a bit scare to eat the romaine lettuce they way it looked. I believe that if is they had sent the container with an actual lid the food would have not been all over.

Great place to grab a burger and watch a game. Also have N.A. Beers available. Staff was helpful and friendly. Great burger with delicious sweet sour dough bun.

I been here a few times and I wasn't impressed with the tacos which is what I wanted a few years ago. Today I go there burger and hands down that shit is good all American burger. Sweet sourdough bread and a thick ass patty so good! I for got to ask for the jalapeño sweet sourdough bun going to have to come back and try that. Bar renter is cool too!! Happy new year! 2025 .

I stopped by Jake's Sports Bar for the Euro and also the Copa America soccer finals. Me and my buddy were looking for a sports bar which wouldn't be packed. My buddy thought Jake's Sports Bar would be a good choice. They have a complimentary lot and I had no trouble finding parking. Ambiance (4/5): Jake's isn't a fancy spot. It's a neighborhood sports bar. And that is more than fine by me. They have plenty of TVs so you can catch the game. There's plenty of seating, both bar seating and tables. They play the sound for the prime game at the time. It's everything you need if you're a sports fan. Service (4/5): Since I was there for a major sports event, I was worried that the service would be good. While they were struggling a bit with volume, they did a pretty good job given the circumstances. I'm sure service is a little quicker when you're there on a regular day. Drinks (5/5): I love some good drink specials and you have that here at Jake's. Not only do they have happy hour specials, but they also had special gameday specials. That was much appreciated. Since we watched both games, we were there for a good chunk of a Sunday. Getting a discount on all of that counts for something in my book. I had both beer and cocktails while I was there. Food (5/5): Jake's started off as a Philly cheesesteak restaurant before expanding their space and becoming a bar and restaurant. Since this is what they're known for, this is what I ordered. With fries. They have several varieties of Philly cheesesteaks and it lived up to the hype. For bar food, this is about as good as it gets. A fresh hoagie roll. The meat sliced thin and grilled just right. Melted cheese. And crisp fries. They have a large menu and I'd definitely return to check out some more items. Jake's Sports Bar reminds me of Nick's Place which is also located in the Galleria area. If you're looking for a sports bar with good food, reasonably priced drinks, and one that doesn't get completely packed for major sporting events, Jake's should be at the top of your list.

Unpretentious local dive bar, good location, ample parking, great beer selection and food! From salads , burgers, philly steak sandwiches and more! You name it they got it. Great service, your neighborhood place to go if you are in town ! Ohh of course all those tv screens are available too if you are sports fan

Why not more stars?! We're from out of town for a wedding. We looked for a sports bar close to our hotel to watch the Texans - Chiefs game. Yall this is a great spot! All locals. Great nachos with carnitas. And a top shelf selection of whiskey, scotch , etc to rival most. Nice folks. Great service. Get in here!!

I was in the bar, just trying to get some drinks and something to eat but I couldn't get anything due to a situation going on next to me. There was a new waitress I'm assuming asking for ID and that was no problem. However, she never brought anyone's drinks including mine and then out of nowhere called her manager and told him not to serve us. Mind you I'm not with this party but she went from checking my ID (I am 25 years old) to me never being served the entire time. I can't say anything about the food or drinks because I never got any type of food or service but I definitely wanted an explanation because whatever situation was taking place, they could've handled it a lot better.

It does not matter day I order take out from Jakes, one of my items is either wrong item, prepped wrong, or missing. I will not order from them anymore and will my guests where I work, not too as well. Was supposed to be extra queso and hot Italian pepper. Both missing!! P.S. I am a former cook and this would not have left my kitchen.

This spot was recommended by people on Nextdoor so we wanted to give it a try. We arrived on a Saturday evening. It wasn't busy so we were seated and served immediately. Service was good. My BF had the hot wings. They were crispy and good however suuuuuuuuper hot! These are not regular hot wings so be careful. The chicken sandwich was horrible. I couldn't finish it. The flavor and texture was just not worth forcing down. I just ate the fries. I also had boudin balls which I forgot to take a picture of. They were ok. I think this is a good spot for drinking only. Food isn't quality.

No nonsense true sports fan great place. Fried large catfish is really great! Tried 2 slices of Chicken Breast grilled and was pleasantly surplised. Served on a plate with stake knife , tender and delicious. Woth the $15 and included a good size salad. If they get busy may take a little while to catch a server so go a little early to find your table and get service started.

Best sports bar in Houston. The fried jalapeños are amazing and the menu is so big there is something for everyone.

Tried a philly cheesesteak sandwich today with tots and got chips and fries instead. Sandwich was dry and flavorless, I had to add hot sauce and salt to make it edible, and the chips were stale (package said they expired in two weeks). Threw the fries out as it wasn't what I ordered. Won't order again.

Galleria has become dicey. Jake's felt safe and friendly, with so many screens you'll always have the best view of your game, and their Philly cheesesteaks and pub grub was properly hot and zesty. They could clean up and remodel the place though.

Been inside one time and the service was good, ordered via DoorDash many times. Food's always good, especially the burgers, SW Eggrolls, wings, and the Philly w/ mushrooms and jalapeños. Fries are the only thing that suffers when ordering delivered. Overall good spot for food, will continue to order from Jake's.

Solid casual neighborhood sports bar with plenty of seats, tvs, beers, and a fairly large menu selection from cheesesteaks to fajitas to all the usual appetizers you might expect from a sports bar.

I'm giving Jakes a 4 - Star review because their Philly Cheesesteaks are amazing and the service was spot on. I had the original Philly and the Buffalo Philly. Both sandwiches were GREAT but the original Philly was the better of the two. Pros: - Great food - Drinks are priced very fair - Very spacious - All types of bar games (Darts, Golden Tee, etc,.) Con: - Not a family environment - Poor lighting

I had a taste for some buffalo lemon pepper wings and stumbled upon Jake's on Uber eats. I ordered eight buffalo wings with lemon pepper, chicken quesadillas, southwestern egg rolls. Everything was delicious! I was pleasantly surprised. I was so hungry that I didn't take a picture. Lol. But trust me, you will not be disappointed. The size of the wings were great and the sauce was good. The quesadillas came with dark guacamole which I did not eat, so that was the only negative. The southwestern egg rolls were the best--very tasty! I love bar food so I will be ordering from Jake's again.

The place looked empty but fried pickles were delicious and most of the menu was pretty affordable on a night out. Service was great too!

I was starving all day after running errands and wanted to try this place out for lunch. Service was some what lack luster. Not busy, went to the bar to grab a beer. The gentleman told me to sit down and I would get service. Waited about 10 minutes, and saw other patrons get service but me. So I left, I really wanted to try the food. #Disappointedguest

I love coming here! The happy hour/ specials are good. The bartenders are so kind and welcoming. My friends and I stumbled upon this bar on a random day because it was the only bar with a kitchen that stayed open till 1:30. We'll keep coming back!! Shout out to Frank and Ryan for being so hospitable and funny.

You would be shocked to learn that the Food here is AMAZING. Try the fried jalapeños and fried pickles best I've Ever had!! Guac is really good too.

Not great at all. We stopped on after work and the females in our group felt uncomfortable in the setting. We didn't get to try the food. Service was ok'ish considering we only ordered one round of drinks. Place gives off a weird and not very welcoming vibe.

I went to Jake's to watch the Ravens game, along with a Steelers fan who wanted to watch that game. Jake's had all the games playing on different televisions. Many different fans came out to support their teams. The food was good. I ordered nachos and I could not finish them. The drinks were 7/10. All in all I would go back to Jake's to watch the games, drink, and order some nachos!

Time flies when you are having fun. Fantastic food: burgers, nachos, corn dog bites, sandwiches narrowing down things that arent good is the real challenge. Not just one of those places that is good because the kitchen is open late... Ahem y'all know what im talking about. They are available on uber eats...so use the App and get it delivered. Reasonably priced drinks. Local beers on tap. Good selection of whiskeys. A few golf games, lots of tvs all over the place. Nice relaxing vibe which is why alot of service industry people that work and or live in the area go there. But you do not have to be one of those cool kids to have a good time. Just go to Jake's.

definitely a good hangout bar, i will be trying in the near future, freshly moving to the area i like that actually serve food and damn good drink, its cool and casual service was good and i think its great

Right after Super Bowl (at the amazing The Deck - one of my go-to joints) a friend and I decided to check out a new place. We randomly selected Jake's. Pull up, parking is free and available, but it might be challenging during a big event...space is limited. Go in and there is plenty of seating and a nice vibe. It was very few people in the building. Less than 15 folks. We sat at the bar. Mind you, there were 3-4 people sitting at the bar upon our arrival. 1st, the Asian bartender (AB), greeted us promptly and asked if we wanted a drink. We said no ty and held small talk asking questions about the establishment, the kitchen, if they have dj/music, typical crowd environment, and so forth. AB walks off to services another customer. Cool. My friend and I are sitting there having chit-chat. Mark (older white gentleman) walks over and ask had we been helped and we said "yes, AB greeted and checked on us." Cool. By this time, 3 men came and sat to my left. The bar had (three) visibly empty seats and the rest of the establishment is practically empty. NOW it might be 20 people in the building. About 15 minutes later, Mark stops by and ask if we were going to have anything to drink or were we just going to chill. We quickly responded, "oh no, we're just going to chill but thank you for asking!" We're stoked and impressed by the customer service at this point! Saying to one another that they are really nice and we'll have to come back to eat and drink...bring our people. Spend money!! 15-20 minutes later, Mark walks up to us and in the most nastiest tone, attitude, very hostile and upset manner says, "you're not ordering anything and YOU NEED TO LEAVE!" (And this is word for word) We are stunned bc it literally took us by surprise!! I immediately started making statements and asking questions matching his energy about the house rules. See dialogue, *Mark's (or staff) replies: We didn't know that was a rule or required for us to order or we have to leave. *Well you're not ordering anything, so you need to leave Is this something you do at your bar bc I've been a lot of places, to a lot of bars and never heard of such a thing. Ever! *The cameras are on and watching. You need to order something or get up Are you the manager or owner? *Yes, I am right now You need to watch how you talk to people! *I was nice and have been patient by letting y'all sit there without ordering. It's a bar. Buy drinks OR MOVE FROM THE BAR (he originally told us TO LEAVE) Ooooohhhh, ok. Got it. I understand what you're trying to convey, but that's not what you said to us the first two times you checked on us/your last statement either or else we would have gladly moved to a table. Now, it's a matter of how you came over here and spoke to us *You need to just get up from the bar -at this moment, we could have moved, but y'all he was so nasty to me, I just couldn't let it go!! - I can and will just sit here at the bar and still not order anything at all just because of the way you're talking to us. It's practically empty in here. I could even understand this moment more if the bar actually had more customers. *I'll call the cops Call'em!!!!! *He doesn't call, but instead says there are people coming in who want to sit down (It's literally no one coming in or waiting to sit down. Please see the pictures) *AB then jumps in and says who even comes to a bar and not order anything? We do. Would it be better if we order a glass of water and then just sit here? *Mark saying stuff, steadily being rude, nasty Me annoyed and start saying 'yo momma' rebuttals (childish and petty, I know ‍‍) ------ At this point, my friend wants to leave to deescalate the situation. She was right. I honestly don't know what would make Mark go from right to left so quickly without incident other than, we're black and he felt it was okay to speak to us in such a manner. A simple, "hey. if you're not going to order drinks, please move to a table." Upon us standing outside to figure out another place (Sam's Boat was great), KB comes OUTSIDE to take pictures of us after the situation is dead! So I followed him inside and took video of him and Mark so there would be no mistake of who I'm referring to at Jake's. **I still have the video. I'm unable to load it at this time; maybe it's too long? I should have read the reviews, as it seems to be common and acceptable for the staff to talk to/handle customers in such a negative manner! Update - The staff finds it funny to be rude to guest. Hence the reason why all low rating reviews regarding service have funny responses and nice nasty comments they are trying to send. ‍ They big mad, annoyed now! I'm unbothered by non-factors.

If I could rate this place zero stars, I would! Ordered food via Uber Eats the other evening and it was horrible! Tacos/ toppings on them were spoiled and smelled rancid. Wings tasted old and also smelled sour. My daughter opened the bag and immediately said something smells bad! I thought maybe the cilantro and onions just had a strong smell so I took a bite out of one of the tacos and the ground beef was horrible, I spit it out immediately. Guacamole was so brown on the inside, like it had been sitting out for a long period of time. We threw every single thing in the trash. I immediately contacted Uber eats and sent pictures, they gave me a full refund! This place should be visited by the health department for unsafe/unsanitary food service practices!!

Bartender is rude af they don't even greet you... Philly cheesesteak has zero flavor so I asked for side of ranch which they charge for ... and I ordered a 10 inch and it was small af I think they gave me the small one... the whole staff has the worst attitude.. I work in customer service 15 years and I would never treat a person like that...

I wish the old jakes philly cheese steak still existed. Man those were some good cheesesteaks. That used to be my go to spot back in the day. The old legend of jakes is dead. The cheesesteak is not the same! Not by a long shot. They taste completely different. The cheese was watered down or something. This really was my go to spot for cheese steak for years. Sadly it has changed. The new owners say they use the same bread, better meat and the same cheese whiz it the cheese steak tasted completely different to me. I guess now papagenos cheesesteak is the only really good cheese steak in town. If you can think of any please email me. Also the cheese fries used to be so good! The fries here are different. Maybe they will take the review to heart and try to improve.

This place has the best Philly Cheesesteak Sandwiches down South. They are pretty close to the ones up North. I cannot even eat the other PCS Sandwiches down here from other places, bc they are so bad n use bad meat and bread in other places. Jake's uses very good marinated tender meat and fresh bread for their awesome Philly Sandwiches. They also have other great sandwiches on their menu definitely worth trying too. The Cajun, Italian Supreme, Buffalo and Philly Chicken Sandwiches are great here too. My favorite sandwiches on their menu are the Back Home Philly, Buffalo Philly, Philly Favorite and The Original Philly. Great food and friendly service. My family has been going here since I was 2 years old from what I can remember n always said Jake's is the best n closest to up North down here.

Jakes has the best onion rings in Houston so far. I usually order them at least once when I go to a new restaurant. Now if I'm at Jakes I always order the O.R. My guess is they are made in house or fresh locally.

We order from y'all through door dash ALL the time. We've had the tenders, the burger, grilled chicken sandwich, and the tacos many times. My wife is absolutely obsessed with y'all's red salsa. She's even asked for the recipe she also gets a side of chili. All of the food has been delicious. We've had a few mistakes but nothing to truly be upset about bc they fix it. We just ordered tonight and will order again.

This place is FABULOUS! I stopped in alone sat at the bar and had a convo with the bartender. Everyone was friendly and came over everytime my gin got low. Lol. The have a huge menu with even breakfast available. This bar reminds me of cheers because there are a ton of regulars. I tried the mozarella sticks and onion rings. If your alone or with people its worth stopping in because the drinks are super affordable.

Stopped in for a beer with a couple of friends, we are from another state but this place felt like home, the bartenders were great and the draft beer I had was fresh and cold! Nice vibe

Went in with my wife, who is a Baltimore Ravens fan, at the end of the 3rd quarter yesterday, to catch the final part of the game. Despite over 25 Tvs and an open outdoor deck with ZERO patrons on it view the 2 screens, the rude sexist male bartender stated "You cant come in for the 4th quarter asking to put on the Ravens game." There were also several TV screens in the back room with the same games being played on more than one. We immediately left and watched the final quarter on my NFL Sunday Ticket on a mobile device. Take note: if you are a female patron, DO NOT go on a football Sunday as there is ZERO respect for women and the space is populated by 99% men. Too bad the staff didnt even give us the opportunity to apend out money there.

First time coming here. I always pass by from work and wondered how this place was like ? So, I decided to stop by today. The moment I come in I get greeted by our waiter. We sat down and I kindly asked for a beer. My friend asked for a Dr Pepper. He then said I need to see your DL. Which was fine with me. Then he proceeds and asks my friend I need to see your DL. Are you kidding me ? For a Dr Pepper drink? We didn't say a word. Takes out DLs with him. Comes back and he's like this person on DL does not look like you. I said are you kidding me? You think I'm going to be operating a vehicle with a fake DL. !? And just so you know we were under a pandemic DPS was closed. I renewed my DL and they used the same picture that I had. Yes, I had dark hair back then now it's blonde. So you mean to tell me I can't dye my hair ?? This is ridiculous! I was going to leave but I told my friend no.. im going to stay because I want him to serve me a damn drink. But I will never come back to this place.

Small neighborhood spot, great food, tacos, salad's, the Mexican style wing with jalapeño ranch!!! Service is always attentive.. they are keeping way better track of COVID protocol than many places in the area.

I would love to say everything was great, but when you sit for 20 minutes without any service, you kind of just want to leave....and that's what I did. I at least was able to watch some football while I sat there. Food looked good, at least what others were getting. First impressions are everything, and not having any wait staff is management's fault.

First time trying out Jake's today and I am blown away! I ordered the 10'' Back-Home Philly and I am definitely coming back for more! The service was nice and quick. If you're debating on trying this I say do it!

This is my fifth visit to Jake's. Im giving this place 5 stars based on customer service. I continue to come here because the bartenders and staff are very attentive. The value of food is also great. Its bar food, yes, but the quantity is huge, definitely enough to share and the prices are cheap. Food: I've had the pastrami supreme, fried mushrooms, tortilla soup, frito pie, grilled chicken sandwich. All food comes out hot and fresh and timely. I enjoy the arcade 80s machine and juke box as well. It's a chill place on the cusp of the Galleria. Very refreshing.

If you are used to a bar that treat you like a customer just try another bar. I found this place on google and wanted to give it a shot. It's a low class bar, not a sport bar. You don't feel welcomed and extremely unprofessional bartender which now make sense why the bar was dead even on a Friday night.

Many years ago, I used to come here for their cheesesteaks, and remember them being soooo good. I was around the area and stopped by to get a cheesesteak with whiz (how the locals in Philly get them). Jake's is more sports bar now than it is restaurant, so if you're looking for a place to watch games, it's a good spot. The cheesesteak didn't taste as good as I remembered. The bread was chewy, the meat was cut too thick so it was tough, and the cheese tasted more like queso covering than whiz. For a real cheesesteak, Pappa Geno's is the place to go.

We shared a Philly and I thought it was so cool that they split it in half with our own separate servings!! Phillys were AWESOME!! Very COVID responsible too.

We were at this place before covid 19, They have good burgers, and we loved it, My complaint was about service which wasn't that fast, we already mentioned that we were in rush, Nice experience although, And I will give them another try when I got time, will update my review then!

Great food. Been going there since it was called Jake's Philly Steaks. Went there last week I was sad that it turned more into a bar. The bartender was very rude and disconcerting. But if we are talking about the food great.

The cheese steak is full of fat, Chewy rubbery meat absolutely disgusting. I'm sorry I don't usually leave negative reviews unless it's terrible and unfortunately it was. If Jakes can fix the problem then it would actually be a decent sandwich, But it seems that the complaints are unjustified. Jakes is just not what it use to be anymore.

Usually love coming here! Fun friendly environment. But today I ordered a catfish platter. $11.99 for ONE SMALL filet of catfish, handful of fries and coleslaw didn't feel worth it. Perhaps they need to re-evaluate the portion size of this particular dish... Update- I mentioned it to the bartender and she offered to have a second piece of fillet brought out. I was happy to see that they were very receptive to my complaint. Great way to take care of customers! I'll definitely come back here.
