Jalebi Street

We experienced one of the authentic tasting north Indian chats out here that’s closer to what you will eat in Delhi. We tried 4-5 items and all of them tasted very good. Plus presentation is also at par. Jalebi at the end worked as cherry on the top. Service has some room to improve. Ambience is bit rustic and matches the Haight district but can be better.

Amazing North Indian street food in the heart of SF! We went on a Friday evening and it was very packed and lively, with a constant supply of fluffy bhaturas (deep fried flatbread) and jalebis (crispy dessert) being served everywhere. The restaurant was slightly understaffed because of how busy it was but the server was very efficient in getting walkins on the waitlist, seating, and taking our order. Raj kachori - probably the best chaat item, very fresh and crisp Dahi puri - standard Delhi style Chhole bhature - pretty good, not greasy Jalebi - fresh, made to order, we loved this best. The quantity is lesser than similar places in South Bay, but overall a very good chaat place for SF / Peninsula.

The dahi puri and samosa chaat were really good. The gulab jamuns were tasty but I’ve had better in SF. Mango Lassis were also really good. Everything else was just OK. We tried the saag paneer, Kashmiri kofta curry and laacha parathas. While they were good, the portion sizes felt small. The service was very chaotic as we had to ask for water multiple times.

Phenomenal North Indian joint in the Indian food desert of the Haight neighborhood. Everything we ordered was top notch. The channa batura was as authentic as it gets. The chaat was tangy and spicy as God intended it to be. The hot jalebis were icing on the cake and they lived up their eponymous expectations! The chai was the only loose tooth and left me desiring for more. Go here and it's worth the wait.

Chole bhature was good. The laccha paratha nice and crispy with good layers. The garlic naan was a little doughy Daal makhani and palak paneer were both good. Not too oily and no heavy whipped cream. Jalebi and rabrdi were ok. Overall a little expensive for home style food.

This is an amazing restaurant! Do not miss this one out- the garam garam (piping hot) jalebis with rabri are a hit!!! Kachori aloo and the samosas were toooo good! 1000% a must try

Yoooo found THE SPOT for CHOLE BHATURE!! Kinda hard to get seated and they don't do online reservations and their service seems quite chaotic for some reason. It's usually pretty busy I find but the food is good. Would come back regularly for the chole bhature!!

Visited after seeing all the hype on social media. It didn’t disappoint. Chaat items were good, except for samosa chaat, Dahi was too sweet. Delhi Chole bathure was very good and of course jalebi’s. They should clean up all those boxes, still looks like they moved yesterday. Need to make it more presentable. Still giving a over all 5 star, even though there is scope for improvement. Overall liked the food and service.

Stopped by Jalebi Street recently and it absolutely lived up to its reputation for authentic Indian street food. They were already slammed right at opening, and by the time we left there was a long line forming, so arriving early is definitely the move. Prices felt very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes, especially considering how busy they were. We ordered a good spread: aloo tikki chaat, dahi sev puri, garlic naan, kachori sabji, fresh jalebi, and a jeera lassi. Overall, the food was excellent and full of flavor. The dahi sev puri was a standout. Perfectly crisp, nicely spiced, and balanced with the yogurt without getting soggy. The garlic naan was another highlight, crisp on the outside and not overly doughy, which I really appreciated. The kachori sabji and aloo tikki chaat both felt hearty and well-seasoned, the kind of comfort food that's hard to stop eating. I always go for jeera lassi when it's available, and theirs did not disappoint. Refreshing and savory, it paired well with the rest of the meal. The only item that didn't quite hit for me was the jalebi. It was fresh, but a bit too sweet for my personal taste, making it the least memorable part of an otherwise strong lineup. Still, this is a place I'd happily return to, especially for the chaats and naan, and I'd recommend it to anyone looking for legit Indian street food done right.

Haight Ashbury's newest Indian restaurant! They're less than a year old and owned by a couple. My friend and I came in on a Tuesday at 6PM and didn't have to wait. There's a big main table, some booths, and then multiple smaller 2 person tables. Bathroom situation was rough; one was broken and the other one upstairs had water leaking, no toilet paper, and a clogged sink. Thankfully, there was a separate sink around the tables for customers to wash their hands. My friend and I split the Delhi Special Chole Bhature (chickpeas were yummy and the deep fried bread was light & airy), Saag Paneer (very heavy & creamy but wished it had a stronger spice kick), and Garlic Naan. I'll definitely be back to try more things!

Authentic food, served fresh, consistently so. Been there thrice so far, delectable experience each time. Ordered almost every vegetarian item on the menu over time, can't not recommend a single dish. Their Dal Kachori is my favorite. Service is friendly, but they do take time in the busy hours, it does get packed sometimes. Congratulations to the owners for their hard work in keeping the quality of food & service high, and a friendly vibe. Great spot to hangout with friends. Will be back soon!

Got seated on a Friday at 6:30pm with absolutely no wait. We got mango lassis to drink and started with the dahi puri and samosa chaat. Samosa was nice and crispy, with lots of flavor. I preferred it over the dahi puri. For entrees, we got the chole bhature and pav bhaji. Pav bhaji was really good and bread was crispy and buttery. Nice portion size. Food came out quick. The place was lively and decorated well. Would visit again

This felt like a hole in the wall find! Unassuming from the outside, but when you walk in, the place is a lot more spacious than I expected and well kept. Affordable, classic Indian vegetarian only food. We were seated right away for a table of 3 at 7:45pm on a Thursday without reservations. The service was quick and friendly! The bowl size for the masala and lentils may look small/medium but we were very full at the end of our meal. We each got three mains to share family style, with two naans and a roti order as well + a mango lasso + appetizer of Sev dahi puri. The special chole bhature is slightly spicy and it comes with two big airy fried breads. The paneer masala is very tomato based and the black lentils were very good too, LOVED the dahi sev puri - refreshing cold yogurt with a nice crunch. Mango lassi was also nice, smooth, spiced and yogurty. Would def recommend trying for a casual night out!

Service for sure is chaotic on Saturday night. Took awfully long to get the food. And got just poori and had to wait and ask for the curry so obviously the pooris went cold. The Kashmiri kofta curry was tasty. Jalebi rabri is good but the rabri comes in a very weirdly shaped small bowl which ruins the experience as this dish is meant to be eaten by using the Jalebi to scoop the rabri or pour over. Half of the two spoonful spills out in no time. The big disappointment was the Delhi special chole bhature. Everything is oil rich and heavy but the chole is weirdly bland, heavy on one of the spices and swimming in oil. The restroom is not maintained and was out of toilet paper. A quick glance at some of the lower rated reviews does paint a similar picture with regard to our experience with service.

Actually delicious indian food We got the saag paneer, daal, and some chaat - everything tasted delicious and just how i'd want it to for indian takeout! not too heavy, just right on the spices. the ambiance is casual and the indoor vibe was not well ventilated so i think it was more of a comfortable experience picking it up to go. i think they might be doing some renovations so it might be a bit better later. service was quick and speedy.

Their jalebi and rabdi is the best i have had so far. Even better than most places in india! The vibe of the place is Rajasthani (a north indian state) with art from that region. The food also reflects the type of food you would typically get in that state. The service is meh. They are understaffed and have been for a while. It is hard to find a table even during a weekday dinner and it has been hard for a while which means they know that they should increase the staff but i dont know why they are not doing that. They gave us the wrong dish. It was hard to catch hold of a staff member to let them know, so we started eating a bit. A while later they came with the other food that we had ordered. We told them that the dish was wrong and they agreed that they messed up but still did not give us a replacement!

Got takeout for my dad and I for the first time. I saw from the yelp reviews that their chole bhature dish was top notch, so I ended up getting that, and it did not disappoint! Came with a side of lemon, onion, green chilis, and some pickle :) Also ordered their Rajasthani bedmi puri and aloo sabji, which was pretty good. The puri had some spices inside, which was a new experience for me. Next time I will dine in. Inside was just lovely when I picked up my order.

Got to try this spot out a few months ago when they were just blowing up from TikTok/social media, and so the wait might have calmed down by now, but on a cold and foggy Sunday evening, I waited ~2 hrs for a table and it was worth it. The flavor combinations that I experienced here weren't like any I've had before--tangy, creamy, sweet, tart, fresh. It was a treat for the mouth! I really enjoyed the appetizer-y street food bites. I think these would be best to share with a group if you're ordering a few to try, as my boyfriend and I ordered 2 of these yogurt-y goodness, and we were all yogurt-ed-out. I do wish that the portions were bigger. They were a bit smaller than expected. All in all, would stop by again if we're in the area!

This place has been on my radar. A friend had tried this place and told me it was legit so I had to try it too. I haven't eaten Indian snacks and street foods before but I love trying different foods and happen to be in the area. I walked in and was immediately seated. The restaurant wasn't too busy so I was able to order without much delay. I ordered the Dahl Sev Puri, Onion Kachori, and Jalebi. The Dahl Sev Puri was my favorite. The cool yogurt topped crispy Puri stuffed with flavorful potatoes and chickpeas, and drizzled with their spicy sweet tamarind and cilantro mint sauces was truly a symphony of flavors and textures in my mouth. I was taken aback, surprised and marveled at the flavors as it transitioned with each chew. It was sweet, spicy, and oh so tantalizing with each bite. This is a must get. I had to order the Jalebi, as it's the store's name. The crispy flat spirals were fried then soaked in saffron syrup, which gave it a mild honey-like scent. It was served warm-hot. The texture of the spirals reminds me of phyllo dough, that delicate crispy/flaky texture, but Jalebi is not actually flaky. With each bite, golden beads of syrup dribbles from the sweet treat. It was sweet and delicious. Perfect for those with sweet tooths. The Onion Kachori reminds me of samosas, just without the potatoes stuffing. It was served piping hot with a side of the cilantro mint and spicy tamarind sauce. The interior was mostly hollow, with a lining of minced onions and spices. It was finger food sized and tasty. Overall, had a great experience trying these street food snacks. It is on the pricer side for the portion size but the quality and flavor is there. Highly recommended trying this place. I will be back for the Dahl Sev Puri.

We got their Chole Bhature, Dal Makhani with Tandoor Roti (butter), Kachori Chaat, and Jalebi. As Indians we loved the flavour. I like their Dal Makhani the best, it was sooooo good. The service was very nice, the ambiance was good too. Will visit again (Don't have any pictures, because we were too hungry)

A great option for Indian street food in SF! It's located in Haight which is pretty central to the city. This place is new and focuses on light bites from India, though they offer entrees as well. There is plenty of seating inside, and it seems pretty easy to get a table as we were greeted promptly. 4/5 Sev Puri was solid and really good quality, but lacked some flavor as I would generally prefer more chutney in the dish as it felt pretty dry. 4/5 Bhel puri was the same story as the Sev Puri, dry and could have used more chutney. But it was nice and crunchy. 5/5 Raj Kachori was really nice, dahi is their strong suite, so would recommend all their chaats with yogurt 4.5/5 Daal Kachori was solid, a little hard but not too oily and tasty. 6/5 Jalebi Rabri was phenomenal, I never had anything like it! The Jalebi itself was so nice and crispy and exactly how Jalebi should be. The Rabri was a nice touch, with a more watery consistency but adding some malai and cardamom flavor to the Jalebi. I felt like I didn't need it, but nervetheless good. Their quantity for the value is less than what you get from the South Bay counterparts, but it's fair considering it's the city. I would definitely stick to the chaats and the ones with yogurt, that seems to be what they are good at. But solid Indian spot for those who want their Chaat fix!

Rare find in San Francisco for Indian street food! They are also true vegetarian here so great for both vegans and vegetarians. The prices are a bit on the higher end for what you pay for in terms of portions, but all very flavorful. I wish that for dine in, the dishes would be presented on cookware and silverware instead of plastic and single-use. But, service was great and staff were warm towards us. The chef went out to greet us too, although that was close to when they first opened. I really enjoyed all the dishes we ordered. The paneer was just the right texture for me. Can taste the love and authenticity in the dishes. Great addition to Haight!

The food is absolutely amazing!!! We were in SF for a bday trip and were recommend this restaurant. We walked into a vibrant and busy restaurant. Tables were packed but we managed to find one just a few min before the kitchen closed at 2. We ordered dal makhani, saag paneer, chole Bhatura, and several more dishes.. the flavors were perfect for everything!! The owners of the restaurant are incredibly accommodating and had great customer service! They allowed us to try the jalebi cheesecake which tasted so light and fresh. The fresh jalebi is also a must try!! I would highly recommend this place and can't wait to return to SF to go back. They do catering as well!

The line was super long when I went (it was pretty soon after this establishment opened) and they don't seem to take reservations. With that being said the staff tried their absolute best to get people in and out to make sure everyone could get in before closing - so just a heads up on the long wait. The food was honestly amazing, I loved all the chaat options and my fav was the samosa chaat. The daal was super comforting as well. Would recommend overall

Great vibes and delicious Indian food! Everything we got was good and flavorful. If you go, you must try their chewy and soft naan. Shoutout to the staff, who checked up on us at the perfect cadence while me and my friend chatted for a few hours.

Came here with some friends and tried an assortment of chaat dishes and mains, and everything was excellent. Hardly had room for jalebi at the end of the meal, but it was so fresh and worth it! Not much to say regarding ambiance, they've only been open for a month so hopefully they can continue to build out the restaurant with decor and real plates/glassware. Will be back soon!

Wow, we were lucky to discover this new Indian vegetarian place that is set to open in the coming weeks. All the dishes are spot on when it comes to taste, flavour and texture! Their chaat times are so mouth watering and simply so original and authentic! The owners are very friendly and got to learn that they are vegetarians too! Explains the passion in setting up this restaurant :) I really really hope that their quality keeps up! Omg almost forgot the foot note on Jalebi - it's a must try, they are so thin and meticulously done!!!

Chaat, kachoris, chole bhature and bhedmi poori were fantastic. Super hot, super fresh, and the servers are friendly and quick at this no frills eatery. Love that sf has this authentic chaat house. Great place for vegans.

Visited downtown SF with family and this place really hit the spot after some sightseeing. It was packed but luckily a reservation got us a table fast. They were super busy and it took some time to place the order and get the food. But it was worth the wait. One of the best Chana Bathura I've had in the US. Dahi puri was really good and the jilebi was the highlight. It was priced reasonably for SF as well. If they can speed up the service it would be the cherry on top. Recommend this spot especially since it's pure vegetarian and they were able to have dishes with no garlic for my parents as well.

We were excited to see an authentic Rajasthani snack shop open up in Haight Ashbury. The location is perfect and I think it fits right in to the hippie/Indic vibes of that street. We ordered the masala chai, the dahi sev puri, and the regular sev puri. This was the perfect afternoon pick me up treat that we were looking for. If you're unfamiliar with what "chaat" is or how to eat it, feel free to ask the staff for more details - they were very helpful with good recommendations.

The vibes here were really nice. The Chole Bhature indeed did live upto to the hype. The Jalebi was pretty epic as well.

Samosa chaat and mango lassi were great. I like the toppings and the sweet and savoriness of the samosa. It does have a mild spicy kick to it, adding some extra pizazz. Nice, simple place to take a break or escape the elements.

Really solid Indian food! My friend and I shared the paneer butter masala, chole samosa, and the kashmiri kofta curry, with a side of rice and naan. Everything was super flavorful with plenty of spices and the perfect amount of heat. I really enjoyed the soft and pillowy texture of the naan. The servers were very friendly and attentive, checking in regularly to make sure we had everything we needed. The interior was spacious and felt very comfortable. Overall a very satisfying meal and dining experience!

Wow! This place is still setting up in front but the kitchen is already cooking up some of the best chaat (Indian snack foods) I've tasted in the bay area. The hosts were very welcoming and kind too. Menu looks to be all vegetarian with quite a few dishes also looking to be vegan. I got the samosa chaat and bhel puri. The samosa was rich and full of flavors and just the right amount of spicy heat. This was offset quite nicely by the bhel puri, a mix of puffed rice, other crunchy bits, diced onion and potato, mild spices, and a touch of chutney. Not cloyingly sweet like at many places. They also offer a good selection of fresh juices. I tried the apple/lemon/ginger and it was perfectly balanced, with a solid ginger kick but it didn't overwhelm the apple or lemon. I will be back!

Been hearing so much about Jalebi street and finally stopped by to check it out . We got lucky and got seated quickly . It's a no frill Indian street food restaurant that took me back to my childhood. Everything we ordered was delicious ! We tried the Dahi puri , papdi chaat, chola batura , aloo tikki and Jalebi ! The staff was friendly and brought all the dishes very quickly . So excited to see a great Indian place to eat in sf !

Jalebi Street on Haight is a gem. We had the kachori chaat, chole bhature, pav bhaji, bedmi aloo puri, kadai paneer, garlic naan, 2 orders of pani puri, and rabri jalebi ...everything was packed with flavor and beautifully done. I used to drive to Sunnyvale for their food truck, so I'm thrilled they're now in SF. The city's lucky to have them . Great food, great service, and even as a non-vegetarian, I loved every bite.

Food is good but very overpriced. They stopped seating 1hr30mins before close of restaurant, and we had to do takeout.

Just tried their jalebi and it was definitely worth the drive. Very expensive but good. I would go back to try the food someday.

I suspect Jalebi Street is scrubbing reviews regarding their atrocious customer service. I visited on 10/3/25 with a friend where we joined the waitlist at 8 pm. We were not seated until 9:45 pm due to the host completely abandoning seating those on the waitlist to bus tables, cook food, and deliver orders to table. When the host would seat parties, he would skip those on the waitlist to seat larger parties. Jalebi is woefully understaffed to the point where they can't provide food in a reasonable manner (one table that we spoke did not receive for food for 90 minutes AFTER they were seated - insane). After being skipped multiple times on the waitlist I was able to flag the attention of the host. We proceeded to be seated at a dirty table with no menu provided. When I pointed out the gross table, it was treated as a huge incovenience for it to be cleaned. The host was extremely unprofessional when taking the order (I understand he was juggling multiple roles, but there was no excuse for the tone he had considering our wait time). He gruffly asked "what do you want", proceeded to inform us several menu items were unavailable (I later observed other tables that were seated after us receiving the "unavailable" dishes) and walked away before we could finish ordering. We served ourselves our own water and grabbed our own menus. For the actual food, I enjoyed the dahi sev puri. The chole samosa was ok (it was served lukewarm) and the jalebi was straight up bad. Oily, hard, and greasy - we took one bite and pushed it to the side. The ONLY saving grace of this restaurant was the young woman working there - she was cheerful and pleasant when we requested to go boxes. My advice? Don't bother with this place - the South Bay has dozens of chaat places that are miles better and serve your dishes within 5 minutes.

Very happy to have a new restaurant in the Haight. And a vegetarian one at that with lots of vegan options as well. The owners are so friendly and welcoming and always helpful to explain items if you're unfamiliar with anything. And the food is delicious! Also I saw one review mentioned the disposable plates, etc. That I'm happy to say has been changed and they now have real plates and utensils! Yippee I think they are still developing the look of the place but it's comfy as it is, informal as befits a place specializing in street food

Okay ! I no longer miss food from South Bay! Everything was delicious including the service ! We in fact couldn't get in the previous evening and when we mentioned it, they made sure we get a table the next day ! The best Indian food place in SF by far !

A pleasant and welcome change to the Indian food scene in San Francisco. I've never been able to find a reliable and tasty Chaat spot place and finally there is one with the plenty of space and plenty of vibes to go around. The couple that owns this restaurant are really nice and open the feedback on their menu. We had their Aloo Tiki, Aloo Poori, the chole bature (as a Punjabi, this is the first time I had one similar to my mom's cooking) and so many other dishes. Everything was so delicious that we could not stop. We tried their whole dessert menu (the Jalebi Rabri is a special standout). Indian food in SF is a tough scene and now Jalebi Street has started to fill it in with some quality.

So yum and so friendly! This place is new (they still don't have their plates and silverware - being shipped from India), so much so that they're still serving on paper plates and disposable utensils. But! It's worth it. It's kind of fun to even have such personable staff who are just motivated to bring you back for repeat business and feel like you're supporting a new growing small business. The food is delicious - I was a big fan of the dev puri and the palak paneer and naan. I'd definitely go back to try more, and I can just imagine this place getting more and more beautiful as their decorations get shipped in.

Really loved all the dishes we ordered. Will definitely go back! We got the sev puri and Dahi poori which was authentic and refreshing. Rajasthani Bedmi poori with aloo Sabzi that was very addictive. The fresh jalebi was hot and amazing with so much saffron. All in all it was a wonderful experience and highly recommend.

Abysmal Service; we ended up leaving without having lunch. I wish there was an option to give 0 rating. We arrived five minutes after my friend, who was explaining a problem they encountered with the host at the front desk. For 15min, no water was served, no one came to take order. Then the same staff member suddenly approached our table uninvited, and rudely accused us of causing trouble after hearing our private conversation. When we objected, he rolled his eyes in response. We complained about the guy to the manager who offered no real help and we just had to leave. PLEASE INVEST IN TRAINING YOUR STAFF. Good food means nothing without basic hospitality.. Seems like a good restaurant run by untrained and inhospitable staff.

Way too expensive for the portion size and flavor of the food. Tiny portions. Have given this place 3 tries, each time the flavors are different, not consistant at all. Tried Chole Bhature they taste different each time. They are drenched in oil and way too expensive. Within just a few weeks, the prices had increased significantly compared to our previous visit. Which was bit of a surprise to pay almost $20 for choley bhature where the taste was ok. Not worth the price. Not going there again.

Loved: Sev puri chaat Kofta curry Garlic naan Portion sizes are small but felt perfect for me. I didn't feel overly stuffed after. there was silverware (yay! An earlier review mentioned plastic utensils) - cups were paper so would be great if they upgraded that to steel or glass. I wasn't a fan of the flavor of the Jalebi; it must be a preference thing. I'm not sure what exactly is the ingredient causing the flavor difference (I am used to the more orange ones from jewel of india in SJ)
