I’ve visited Jam Delish several times. The menu is often changing so I like to try new things.
I didn’t make a reservation but they kindly sat us and accommodated us. I was with my mother who has limited mobility, it would have been nice for them to offer some assistance in getting seated but they didn’t. There were only 2 people working in on the floor, so I get it, but still. Non-alcoholic drink selection was basic, not what I expected for a specialty (vegan) Jamaican restaurant with a fully stocked bar. We ordered a few dishes that sounded lovely:
Oxtail Stuffed plantain- overcooked and burnt, over priced for the portion, and I personally don’t like unripe or green plantain
Fried oyster mushroom chicken- the batter was unbelievably salty
Curry Goat - so spicy and hot, barely salted and bland
Mango salad- lettuce was over-dressed and limp
Bbq plantain fries- delicious
Overall I liked the creativity behind the main dishes. Not sure if the food was just poorly seasoned last night but the flavors seemed unbalanced. Food doesn’t have to be so hot and spicy to be Jamaican, it’s about the right balance of flavors. Feels like they’re catering to a blander palate lately.
Not sure what else was off but I was terribly bloated and had to throw up after my meal. Might have had some soy accidentally.
