"Jam Doung Style is an amazing, local, Black-owned spot that serves the best, most authentic Jamaican food in D.C. My go-to dish is the oxtail plate, with rice and peas (with extra brown stew sauce on top), cabbage, mac and cheese, and sweet plantain. And don't forget the beef patty!"

In my opinion, This is 1 of the best Jamaican Restaurants in the DMV. Im finicky, so i only eat white meat ,and there aren't too many spots that sale it. I get the white meat jerk chicken ,with curry /brown stew gravy over it. Satisfy my appetite and craving everyone. If you in the area try therm out. It'll change your life

Google
First and last time ordering here. I am truly disappointed in the size of the wings I got. They barely even had any meat on them. The jerk wings had a great taste but the size was truly unacceptable. We also ordered a side of plantain for $4 and the portion we received was ridiculous. Crazy they even advertise they serve good portions. Please do better on the portions because this was highly disappointing.

Google
Jam doung is always my go to spot when I’m in the mood for some Caribbean food. I ordered the lunch special brown stew chicken with rice and cabbage and a side of macaroni & cheese. The brown stew chicken was so good and flavorful. I also love their oxtails so bomb.

Google
Food is absolutely amazing. We ordered beef stew, curry chicken and jerk wings and everything was amazing nothing but fantastic and juicy and so much food that we couldn’t finish everything we ordered. Would definitely recommend.

Google
Heard great things about this place via tik tok. Decide to come for lunch today. First thing service was pure trash! The women taking our order seems bothered that she had to be there. I ordered oxtail cabbage rice and peas. rice was mushy and flavorless. Oxtail taste like they put vinegar in it. Cabbage was salty. My bf ordered king fish rice and peas. King fish smelled old and fishy. It taste like smoke salted fish. Save your money DO NOT COME HERE!! Food is disgusting

I came in at closing time. The cabbage was excellent. The rice N peas were good. The jerk wings had good flavor, but not hot enough for me.

Google
Jam Doung Style catered my party, and I truly cannot recommend them enough. The food was absolutely incredible—hands down the best catering experience I've ever had. I hosted a mixed group of about 30 guests from various backgrounds (including my very picky Jamaican family!), and everyone raved about the food for weeks afterward. I ordered curry shrimp, jerk chicken, snapper, oxtail, rice and peas, white rice, cabbage, salad, butternut rum cake, and sweet potato cake. Every single dish was perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented, and clearly made with a lot of love and care. There was something for everyone, and despite the generous portions, hardly anything was left over! The catering coordinator was also outstanding—so patient and accommodating. Their team worked closely with me to select the right quantities and made the entire process seamless and stress-free. I am truly grateful.

2 years ago visiting from NJ. The best by far. Definitely stopping by on Cherry Blossom day. Update: 2nd visit March 31, 2025. Hi Janet, the Oxtail and Curried Chicken are both flavorful (comfort food). I wish this place is closer to home.😊

Yelp
Restaurant has been renovated in recent years to include more space and some indoor seating compared to the smaller carry-out only location it has been. Food: My husband and I have only ever ordered their jerk chicken platters. The 'small' portion is more than enough for us. I usually get the 'small' portion to include jerk chicken, cabbage, and rice and peas. My husband orders the same, but sometimes chooses to get mac&cheese instead of cabbage. It's always delicious; however, there has been a few times where one of us has found a bay leaf in our food. While it is easy to take them out, I believe it should be taken out before customers are given their order because they are not supposed to be eaten and could be a significant choking hazard for someone not paying attention while eating. They do offer some deserts as well, but I've never tried them. Service: Good yet could be improved to include another person at the front. Every time we've gone, there is usually an older Jamaican woman and I believe her granddaughter working at the front end of the restaurant taking orders via walk-in, phone, or bagging up orders for Uber Eats and the likes. During lunch time, it can take pretty much someone's entire lunch period to get a meal in hand. Value: Approx $10-$20 per meal. Great value for the amount of food, in my opinion. However, they charge an extra percentage (I believe 4%), to anyone paying with a card instead of cash. Personally, this makes the experience less pleasant for me because in 2024 many people do not carry cash, and why is it that high? Ambiance: Busy restaurant so expect the phone to keep ringing and a constant flow of customers. During our last trip in Sept 2024, R&B music was playing and the videos to the songs were playing on a tv. My husband and I dined in and ate at a small 2 person table downstairs. They now have upstairs seating, but it always seems to be closed off so I'm not sure if that's for large parties only or not. Location: Definitely not a fan of this part. 1724 North Capitol St NW, Washington, DC 20002; on one of the busiest corners of D.C. Finding parking in the area is often horrible. If you're not dining in, I highly suggest calling in your order or ordering online: (202) 483-2445 orderjamdoungstyle.com

Yelp
Nothing special other than the carrot cake , I got the jerk wings a chicken patty and the carrot cake. I thought the wings and patty were okay, nothing to write home about and felt like it was missing flavor. Good portions for the price and could be a good lunch spot if you order ahead but honestly pretty disappointing. Some seating area, mostly people waiting for their food, but mostly a to-go spot. Had a line out the door during the lunch rush, definitely would order ahead to avoid a long wait. HOWEVER, the carrot cake changed my life, moist, well spices and the frosting was perfect, not too sweet. Would come here again only for the carrot cake.

Yelp
The curry goat was amazing 10/10 seasoned and not many bones. The Mac and cheese lacked flavor in my opinion 3/5. The rice and peas and cabbage was good. I would definitely return. Service was great food was ready soon as I arrived. Place is clean and cute

Yelp
The food is spectacular and the customer service is on point! Also, the food does not appear to be pre-prepared.

Yelp
I ordered a combo meal with oxtails and curry chicken, which came with sides of macaroni, rice and peas, and cabbage. I also added a beef patty and red velvet cake on the side. The oxtails were the highlight of my meal. They were cooked very well and practically fell off the bone. The beef patty was amazing with a great amount of spice, which I loved as a fan of spicy foods. However, the curry chicken was underwhelming. It lacked the spice factor I enjoy and was slightly dry. I prefer my curry chicken to have more juices to slather over the rice for better flavor. The cabbage was fairly soggy and not enjoyable. The macaroni was good, but the rice and peas were not to my taste. In the future, I'll definitely opt for white rice instead. The red velvet cake was enjoyable, though a bit different from what I'm used to. It was still pretty good, and I would recommend it. Overall, this was an okay visit. If you prefer foods with a kick, this might not be the place for you, as the spice factor was missing for me. I ordered through DoorDash, so I can't speak on the in-person service.

Yelp
My favorite thing to order is the curry chicken lunch special. When I have some extra coins, I always add the mac n cheese!

Yelp
I love getting takeout from here! The flavors are always spot on and the food is fresh. I always get dark jerk chicken and curry chicken and save leftovers for lunch the next day. My order is always ready quick and they've never gotten my order wrong. Love this little corner spot!

Yelp
Coming from Boston I find it hard to find solid Caribbean spots in the DMV. However, Jam Doung comes through with the flavors I am used to! I am not giving 5 stars because one day they did dry my protein out, but the flavors were still there. I have never actually gone in person, so I can't comment on service, but the food speaks for itself.

Yelp
Was planning on going to Jerk at Nite but didn't realize they don't open till 7 on Saturday!?? Anyway found this hidden gem and ordered online. I got the dark jerk chicken entree with Mac & cabbage. Absolutely loved it! Nice spice to the chicken. Inside is clean and pick-up is very organized! Will be back!

Yelp
Haven't visited this place in so long but its always been so good. But this visit was underwhelming and I am a little disappointed. I got the BBQ WINGS MAC AND CABBAGE and my mom had the CURRY SHRIMP RICE & PEAS AND CABBAGE. The wings were pretty good but the Mac just needed salt & pepper and a sharp cheese. The rice was over cooked and the cabbage as well. I came for jerk wings but they were sold out so I got jerk sauce on the side. The shrimp were inconsistent texture wise, some were mushy and some were rubbery. The pineapple ginger drink was good just super sweet. I also had a beef pattie and it was literally 2teaspoons of beef inside I was shocked. We paid $53 together for the food and just wish the quality was more consistent like it was before. The staff was nice and the food doesn't take long to get ready because it's already made.

Abigail D.

Yelp
I honestly don't understand the negative reviews because my experiences with takeout from Jam Doung Style have been nothing but positive. The jerk chicken with rice, peas, and mac and cheese, and the curry chicken with the same sides are some of the best Jamaican dishes I've had in the DC area. The seasoning is always on point, and the quality has been consistent every time I've ordered. I was too hungry and enticed to take a picture before inhaling the food--it's just that good!

Yelp
Corner spot full of FLAVOR!! Curry chicken with rice and peas and a side of cabbage. Don't forget the plantains! Ox tails and jerk chicken were fall off the bone tender with just the right amount of spice. Our bellies are full and we are satiated to our hearts content. The staff was welcoming and made us laugh. Definitely recommend you give it a try!
google avatar

Raven T.

Yelp
The jerk chicken was a bit salty but flavorful. Maybe cooked a lil too well. Mac and cheese was pretty good and so was the cabbage. The beef patty probably could of had a bit more meat. But it was delicious. I will visit here again and try some curry.

Yelp
Ok. So I've been spoiled by goooooooooood oxtail here in DC. I got the jerk chicken wings, friend plantains and oxtail with peas and rice and cabbage. The peas and rice and cabbage were just fine. Average seasoning. The wings were the same. Average seasoning. The oxtail definitely were fall off the bone tender. But honestly it was just average flavor. Now the amount of food you get is A LOT. You can definitely make two whole meals out of that. Another spot not too close definitely has way better flavor--and a touch more in portions--but will cost you $20 more just for the oxtail/rice/cabbage. But the flavor is so good that it's worth it...you know? so if you need something affordable, with decent flavor, this will fit the bill and the price point.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying, how did I not know about this spot YEARS ago. Located off of N. Capitol st. NW. Directly under a dispensary (Bob Marley would love it), lies a hidden gem, Jam Doung Style. I walked in one afternoon to place a takeout order. I was greeted by two older women who were nice enough (if you frequent Caribbean restaurants, you know what I mean. Lol). I placed my order and sat in the dining area and waited. The spot is small, but does have a few tables that you can sit and enjoy your food. I ordered the combo platter with curry goat, oxtail, rice & peas, and cabbage. I also ordered one of their all natural juices that they offer (ginger/pineapple). I should've shook the juice up before I tried it, because the first sip was just straight ginger! I sealed it back and gently mixed the contents before taking another sip (MUCH better), the sweetness of the pineapple cut the sharp bite of the ginger. They had so many other flavors, I have to go back and try some others. The curry goat....the savory and slight spice of the curry gravy was so good, the goat meat itself was a little tough, but the gravy almost made it worth it (I can't wait to go back and try the curry shrimp). The oxtail was so good. Almost melts in your mouth, the gravy from the oxtail was delicious as well, especially once it mixed in with the rice and peas. Overall I would give this experience a 8.7/10. I'll definitely be returning soon!

Yelp
Yums: Homemade BEEF PATTIES! An absolute YUM!! Everything else: my mom taught me if I "have nothing nice to say then HUSH"! So there's that (insert shoulder shrug). Enjoy the beef patties.

Yelp
Long story short - great food, great people, definitely a must try spot in DC. I finally tried Jam Doung for dinner and I was not disappointed! I came in on a Wednesday night around 7pm and got the brown stew chicken with gravy, rice and peas, and cabbage. The entree sizes are in small, medium, and large - I got a medium and me and my partner both shared it (big portions). The brown stew chicken was delicious and tender, it fell right off the bone. The rice and peas were tasty and there was a lot of it, you definitely need to try it with gravy on top. The cabbage was one of the best I've had and really great balance to the rest of the plate. I also got a Soursop juice which seemed to be made in house (not in a can or bottle) and I loved it, wasn't too sweet or sour in my opinion. The employees were truly amazing and provided good service. This is a small business and small location, I didn't necessarily expect to be served right away as there are few employees handing online orders and in-person ones and I was in no rush. But i was greeted kindly and when my order was taken the employee was so sweet and gave recommendations. All the other employees were nice and it probably only took about 10 minutes to get my food. The only negative was that they were out of jerk chicken, which is what I originally planned to get, but it wasn't a big deal since it was the end of the day.

GiGi B.

Yelp
The quality of the food has definitely declined over the years. My jerk chicken entree was very dry as if it has been sitting all day. I ordered a large and received mostly cabbage. The chicken was shredded almost.
google avatar

Destiny E.

Yelp
*sigh* My partner is from JA. We came here and the first things he said were: "The Mac and cheese tastes flat." "This isn't jerk chicken - this is chicken with jerk sauce." "What is this rice and peas? Oh god" I ordered a small brown stew chicken and paid extra for Mac and cheese and rice and peas. Wish I hadn't. I had maybe two bites of Mac and cheese on my plate. The chicken and gravy tasted like someone dumped a bag of sugar into it. It was probably the second-worst Jamaican food I've had in the DMV. It smelled great from outside. The vibe inside was chill. The service was fine.

Yelp
- Inside-Service: !nside was clean..nice set up. Staff was friendly. Did a pre-order for 11AM right when they opened and my food was ready as soon as I walked in (around 11:05) - Food: Got the oxtail platter with rice and peas, mac and cheese, cabbage, and beef patty. The oxtail was good...if I had any complaint, a few were a bit fatty...meat was fall of the bone. The peas and rice mixed with the oxtail gravy was great. Cabbage was on point and beef patty was light and crispy. Added a rum cake as well...not bad at all, but I've had better. I will definitely be hitting this spot in the future.

Yelp
The best Jamacian food in the city! Sometimes it can be busy but it's worth the wait! The curry is a hit, the jerk is a hit, and I love the drinks!

Yelp
This was the best Jamaican food I've had in a while! I've been to Jam Doung before, but it's been years. It was nice to see that the place has gotten a face lift. The restaurant was super clean and organized. There was an area for placing your order and a separate line for pickup. I ordered online, so I went to the pickup line, and to my surprise, the food was ready before the time listed online. I had the jerk chicken with rice and peas, cabbage, and Mac and cheese. I appreciated the option to upgrade my sides to add Mac and cheese (with half rice) for just over $2 more. The chicken was seasoned and cooked PERFECTLY! My only wish is that there was more meat. I ended up getting quite a lot of skin with no meat. The cabbage and Mac and cheese were also really delicious.
google avatar

Leron H.

Yelp
Jam doung food never disappoints I usually get the jerk chicken which is always flavorful with a great sauce. The last few visits I have and my most recent a few days ago I have been getting the jerk wings and the bbq wing. They are tender and flavorful. They are not the biggest wings but make up in flavor. They have become one of my favorite dishes. The food over all is pleasing and you will enjoy

Brian T.

Yelp
The food is mostly acceptable Jamaican with sometimes being hit and miss. The service charge applied is totally unnecessary since the food is already moderately priced! The rum cake at $6.50 plus, plus is really disappointing and the oxtail could be a lot better tasting as in quality or preparation?! I can't say I am excited to try them again!
google avatar

Camille H.

Yelp
First time having jerk wings and it was amazing so good I went back the following week for more. Always a line be prepared for a little wait
google avatar

RenéShawn W.

Yelp
TL;DR expensive, small portion size, food lacking quality & flavor. Would not return, do not recommend. Lunch curry chicken: 2/10 * Rice was mushy & chicken needed more seasoning. Lunch brown stew: 2/10 * 4 chicken pieces for $9.75. Food was tepid & did not come with plantains. Beef patty 2/10 * Burnt & cold on the inside, not freshly made. Coco bread 0/10 * burnt on one side, soggy on other, too hard to open. Inedible. Sorrel 7/10 * Nice flavor Plantain 5/10 * $3.75 for 6 pieces, plantain was cold.

Yelp
Delicious! Ordered through Uber Eats to my hotel and food was hot and fresh. I had the rice and peas with Mac n cheese, cabbage and jerk chicken. Prob the best jerk chicken I've ever had. Rice n peas were fluffy and tasted. You guys def know what you're doing. Love how the jerk sauce is hot but very flavorful... some places it's just hot.
google avatar

Que Q.

Yelp
Again, against my better judgement. I ordered online and waited until I received the "ready" alert to my phone. I walked in to angry food drivers waiting. I also waited and waited and waited. The woman on the register was rude and not friendly, the woman who eventually came from the kitchen area to get food orders out was equally nonchalant and rude. I will eat grass from my front yard before I patronized this "Angry Black Owned Business." Get it together Black people!!

Yelp
I'm always on the lookout for authentic ethnic cuisine, and I was so glad I wandered into Jam Doung. This tiny spot in DC serves up some of the most delicious and authentic Jamaican food I've ever had. The jerk chicken is the star of the show, but the goat curry and chicken curry are also amazing. The flavors are unique and spicy, and they really cater to their Jamaican roots. The ambiance isn't great for dine-in, so this is a take-out spot exclusively. However, the food travels well, and I've never had a problem with it getting soggy or cold. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a taste of Jamaica in DC. It's not Americanized cuisine, so you're getting the real deal. And the prices are very reasonable.
google avatar

Angela K.

Yelp
Great tasting food for great value. Would definitely order again. I got the small portion ox tail dish and it was delicious. It was very reasonably priced at around $10 and even with no add ons I was stuffed. The sauce has great flavor and the cabbage is simple yet delicious - it goes great with the heavier ox tail.

Yelp
My delivery took almost 1-1/2 hours because of a 'systems malfunction" but instead of offering me a discount or even hot food, I was assured my food has been under the heat lamp all this time and they will do their best to get it to me before I got off work at 5pm. I did receive my food before 5pm, and I would try the curry chicken again, hot hopefully if there's a next time.
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
My 2nd time there food is amazing! Jerk wings and cabbage has been the only thing I've tried. Wings are tender and just the right amount of hot, cabbage nice, sweet and crisp! $17 for 12 wings and cabbage. Staff have always seemed to be nice when I've went. Might try something else next time. Can sit in if you want, they have a few tables, place is clean too.

Yelp
Great Food, Authentic & Always Seasoned Just Right! Jam Doung Style is one of my favorite Caribbean spots in the DMV. There are many around, but this place does Caribbean-Jamaican eats proper. This black-owned small business has been around for some time......and one taste of the food here, you will know why. This time around, I got the combination Oxtail & Curry Goat entree w/ cabbage (mixed vegetables) and rice & peas. The flavors were all there on everything! I really enjoyed the Curry Goat. The seasoning and taste was really good. The meat was tender, bone-sucking good and the spices were on point. The Oxtails were seasoned to the bone and the gravy was addictive, but I must admit the portion of oxtails was a little small and not as tender (fall off the bone) this time around. I only received 3 oxtails on a platter that was roughly $20 bucks. Although they were large bones (cuts), the price point was steep for the oxtail portion received....hence not 5 Stars this visit. As for the sides, the cabbage (mixed vegetables) is always a hit! This is one of my favorite sides here. It's on point and cooked perfect with the right amount of seasoning. Most Caribbean spots fail when it comes to this side dish.....At other places this simple dish tends to be either bland-unseasoned, too salty, greasy and/or undercooked (too crunchy - al dente).....Not the case at Jam Doung! I could eat a plate full of this side alone and be content. It's just that good. I also ordered a side of mac n' cheese and it was a winner....a "double" Thumbs Up!! In all, a great visit and fast service. 4 1/2 Stars and then some!....1/2 star deduction only on the oxtails portion. The cashier was very friendly and gave some good suggestions. She was very helpful....An older lady, who I believe is the owner. This place has been around for decades and I can remember it being a small, cramped take-out spot in the lower level of the row-house next door. The new restaurant space is bigger, brighter and has lots of upstairs/downstairs seating for dining-in. It's great to see them thriving and still around....which is a testament to the great service and damn good food! Although there are many choices, restaurants and places to go for good Caribbean eats around the DMV......It's the "FLAVAAAAH" for me....that keeps me coming back to Jam Doung; not the portions or price point. When coming here I know I am going to walk out with flavorful, delicious food that taste good and is satisfying. For this reason, Jam Doung Style stays in my rotation of Carribean spots I frequent around the city. * YELP ELITE INSIDER TIP & NOTE OF HONORABLE MENTION: 1) The Snapper (Escovitch Fish) is a winner here and must try!! 2) The Lunch Specials are a great deal here too (from 11am - 1pm) .....Deals typically on the Curry Chicken, Jerk Chicken or Brown Stew Chicken w/ a side & can soda for around $8 bucks!! Not a bad deal at all. Also, a lot of places are stingy with the gravy, but they tend to give me a lot....definitely a plus in my book! Will be returning!

Yelp
Bussin bussin BUSSIN! My first visit and I had the jerk chicken dark meat with the Mac & Cheese and cabbage, with a side of plantin I could eat it everyday! Lol customer service was excellent, order time was great, it was like the food came right out off the stove. If you want some authentic Caribbean food, that taste bomb I HIGHLY recommend this place!

Yelp
Service was shit, too long of a wait, Brown stew chicken with no sauce, half scoop of rice, dry Mac n cheese, crispy pattt

Yelp
The main entree was seasoned well! Ordered snapper w/rice and peas. The cabbage was a bit on the salty side of my taste. Coco bread was hard.

Yelp
Flavorful flavorful flavorful! I got there around 7:30pm and they were already sold out of most items, but it didn't matter because the curry goat hit the spot. We had it with rice and beans and it was full of spices and a little heat. Watch out for the bones though! If you haven't been to the new location two doors down from the original, know that there's actually standing room now There are even seats to eat at! Ha ha And guess what, a bathroom too! I never minded the old spot, but will gladly use the new amenities here lol It also happened to be their 22nd operating anniversary that day and we were given two slices of cake to celebrate. That was so sweet and I'm so glad I was able to feast with them on such a special day

Michael V.

Yelp
Absolutely love the food here. Got the goat curry and some coco bread this time and it was amazing. My only regret is this is my go to oxtail place and it wasn't available for whatever reason and the normal beef patties were off the menu. Not sure if it is a general shortage or I just got there too late. Still delicious either way.

I've ordered food from here through a delivery service at least 3 times now and I have yet to be disappointed. The portions for even the small size is more than enough for one, possibly two adults (to me, y'all overeat if we being fr fr lol). My go to is the curry chicken. It's seasoned well, and the curry sauce is savory. The chicken is always tender. This time I also wanted to try their oxtail. It was a little sweet and tangy, flavor forward. I also had their Mac and cheese, it was perfectly seasoned and cheesy. It reminded me of the mac I eat during the holidays, I had an assumption that it was gonna be totally different but it was on point. Not pictured is the beef patty! The patty is always flaky and delicious. My only complaint is that it's flat, not a lot of beef filling (which may be the normal and I'm just used to the commercial versions). I'd wanna see maybe an extra 1/3rd added lol. All in all, this is my go to Jamaican cuisine spot. Haven't had any other spot's food and wanted to return.

Yelp
They don't need my positive review on top of others but whatever they deserve it! I got medium goat curry w rice and peas and macaroni w cabbage. All of it was new to me and it was incredible, such a unique flavor and I've never eaten cabbage that readily. I also got a beef patty that was excellent, I think next time I would do a small dish and more Patties I think.

Yelp
I ordered the brown stew chicken with rice and peas and cabbage. My friend told me about this spot last year and I finally decided to try it since I am curious about the different Jamaican restaurants in the DMV area. I waited about 15 minutes for my order so the wait wasn't too long. The server who packed my food was really nice. I will say the brown stew chicken was super tasty and nicely charred. But I am disappointed because my rice and peas were extremely dry. I probably should've told the server to tell the cook to put some brown stew gravy on my rice and peas. I tried to put some gravy from my chicken onto my rice and peas when I got home but I barely even had any gravy on my chicken! In the future, I recommend the cook put more gravy on my chicken so that I can add it to my rice and peas so that I am not biting into dry rice. But overall the restaurant is ok and I would go back again for the food.

Yelp
The employees were friendly, the vibe inside was nice, the decor represented Jamaican legend Bob Marley, the food was delicious and fresh and the prices were good. I would go back!

Yelp
I've ordered from Jam Doung Style twice now, but know that I will keep coming back. The first time I ordered the brown stew chicken with cabbage, rice and pea and a side of plantains. The chicken was fall-off-the-bone tender and flavorful, while the cabbage was perfectly shredded and reminded me of my own. The plantains were delicious and I figured it couldn't get better. However, I recently ordered through UberEats and they blew me away! Roughly just over an hour before the restaurant closed, I ordered a combo meal with jerk and curry, chicken, rice and peas, Mac & cheese and cabbage. I also ordered a similar meal for my son. We also ordered cocoa bread, a beef patty and plantains. I received a phone call from the restaurant within two minutes of ordering, to let me know that they were out of plantains. The sweet lady I spoke with asked if I would like an additional beef patty to which I said yes. To my surprise, an order of plantains were in my bag when the food arrived! I was so happy I called the restaurant back to thank them. Then we ate... Oh my!! The food reminded me of a home cooked meal I had when visiting Jamaica many years ago. Where do I start?? The plantains were perfectly ripe with caramelized edges and the tender jerk chicken was perfectly spiced. The curry chicken literally fell off the bone...Everything, and I do mean everything, was perfect, including the Mac & cheese! The portions are huge and I had my leftovers for breakfast the following day. Jam Doung is well worth a visit. Try them, you will not be disappointed!

Yelp
When I entered the store it was packed so I waited about 30 minutes to order. Once I got to the register the cashier was so helpful. Stating what she had on the menu and what she didn't have since I came at a later time. I ordered the ox tails which was less tasteful but was a good portion I was full and still had some to take home. There was a upstairs and downstairs upstairs area is where You can drink and eat downstairs area is where you order and can eat as well. I rate the place 4 out of 5 because the ox tails did not taste like anything

Yelp
Jam Doung Style is a Jamaican restaurant located on the corner of Randolph Place and N Capitol Street. We wondered upon this small restaurant serving Jamaican cuisine while looking for dinner. We were greeted as we entered. Reggae music was playing. Bob Marley pictures hanging in the walls. It smelled good inside. We ordered takeout at the kiosk. It was simple to place the order. Hubby orders the Beef Stew with Macaroni and Cheese with a side of Cabbage. We also ordered the Beef pie and chocolate cake and a slice of carrot cake. The older lady was thrilled that we visited them all the way from Hawaii. She wanted to come back in my suitcase..lol! They were so friendly and welcoming. Just good people. We get back to our little place about a few blocks over. The food is piping hot. Perfectly seasoned! Just what we needed after a long day. Those slices of cake were rich and delicious. We'll definitely be back before we leave on Friday. Great Jamaican food for the soul!

Yelp
Jam Doug Style was my first takeout order for the New Year, and I am pleased. I ordered oxtail with rice & peas, Mac & Cheese, & Cabbage for my designated cheat day; and the food hit the spot. The oxtail was meaty, large sized, and they weren't cheap with the portion. I highly recommend Jam Doug Style, and try out their oxtails, they were delicious.
