Find Fancy Boba Tea and All Sorts of Over-the-Top Snacks in Westchase | Eater Houston

"At 11700 Westheimer Road in the Royal Oaks Shopping Center, I checked out the long-awaited Asian fusion teahouse Hiccups Teahouse and Restaurant, which opened last Friday. It's known for fancy drinks often served in mason jars—including boba-studded milk teas and flavors like jasmine milk tea or a watermelon slush—and for savory dishes such as garlic noodles with shaken beef, chicken wings, and loaded fries." - Adele Chapin

We finally come and visit this highly rated Vietnamese infusion restaurant. It’s nicely decorated and clean. The staffs were great and friendly. Food was okay (a little too plain), but very nicely presented. We were wish the food tastes a little more Vietnamese- traditional. These food are just too infused to suit foreigners tastes, it’s not suitable for anyone who seek Vietnamese - authentic taste.

We had a really great experience at J.A.M Viet Kitchen & Bar. We started with the popcorn chicken and Cajun fries, which were crispy, flavorful, and perfect for sharing. The complimentary chips were a nice surprise and something everyone at the table enjoyed. For our main dishes, we ordered the beef fried rice, combination pho, and special pho. Everything came out hot and tasted fresh. The pho broth was especially impressive, very flavorful and comforting. The special pho came with bone marrow, which was absolutely delicious and added so much depth to the soup. The service was great and super friendly, which made the experience even better. Everything we tried was really good, and you can tell care goes into the food. This is a great spot for comforting and tasty Vietnamese dishes, and we will definitely be coming back.

Google
Jam Viet Kitchen was such a great find! The vibe inside is warm, relaxed, and really inviting—it feels like the kind of place you want to hang out in for a while. We tried the pho and it was incredible—rich broth, fresh herbs, and so comforting. The egg rolls were perfectly crispy and packed with flavor, and everything came out hot and fresh. Service was friendly and quick, which made the whole experience even better. We left full and happy, already talking about what we want to try next time. Definitely a new favorite spot! AND they have a bar!

Google
It's a great place for small bites and drinks with colleagues or dates without spending ridiculous amounts. The food's presentation is great and makes you feel fancy. Their shaking beef, popcorn chicken, fried tofu, egg rice cake, and oysters—pretty much everything we tried—are good, except for the Pho. Their pho broth could use some improvement. It looks good; it doesn't taste good, but it's not so horrible that you cannot eat it. Their Pho failed me, so if you love Pho and are picky about it, this isn't the place. However, other dishes are good. I'd definitely come back.

Google
The place was pretty packed when we got there for lunch. Had to wait for a bit to get a table. Was a little disappointed when the food came. It all looked really good but a lot of the dishes were bland, not very tasty. The Saigon Oi plate looked like a killer but it didn't slay anything. Was very disappointing. I'm thinking they forgot the flavor somewhere. The crab udon noodles, same thing, bland. For the price points of these dishes, more attention should be given to flavoring. The only dish with flavoring was the chicken wings. Very disappointed. Presentation is good but tastes trumps everything and was not delivered.

Update (11/9/25): Fried fish didn’t match the menu pic (see attached) but still tasty. Everything else was just okay. Quality is unfortunately hit or miss. . . Update: Came back with the family because we loved our experience so much the first time around. Food was good but didn't have that "WOW" factor on a Sunday evening. One thing that made the evening less than ideal was an awkward interaction with the server Sue who seemed a bit too "nonchalant" about serving us. I won't get into the details unless the owner wants to speak to me but it was such a contrast to our first experience here with an exceptional waitress who unfortunately was not there this evening. We will likely return because we truly love this restaurant and want to see it do well, but we would kindly request another server next time. . . . 5 stars plus! We looooved all the dishes we ordered and we are already planning our next trip back. Bo ne was excellent. Huge portions and great flavor. I really enjoyed the grilled pork chop. Tender and flavorful. The pomelo salad was a favorite as others have mentioned. Our kids enjoyed the pho ga with fresh noodles. They were kind enough to split the bowl without a charge. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was clean and pleasant. We will be sharing this with friends!

The first time I decided to come to J.A.M Viet. When we ordered pad Thai, I thought it was wide noodles not thin noodles. I know it’s not the restaurant’s fault since I didn’t ask them before I order. I only told my man about the mistake with the order that I made but Giang (Audrey) overheard my story and offered an exchange for the thin noodles without extra charge. I appreciate about that a lot since she can just choose not to intervene but she did. Not too many restaurants do that. It was a good service from her. She was very kind. This restaurant is lucky to have an employee like her. Because of her service, it makes us want to come back. The foods here are delicious and very tasty. Today, I came back again for a long time & saw “ Giang”. She still work here & we talked a lot. When my man told her about my birthday, which happened 2 days ago, she gave me a banana ice cream for free! If you come here and somehow managed to have her as your service, you will love it.

Google
This was my first time dining here at J.A.M., and we were surprised to be seated right away, even during a busy lunchtime rush. My friend was really craving the Cao Lau dish, but we were informed that they had already run out. She was disappointed! We absolutely loved the Pomelo Salad. However, the Skillet Steak was a miss for me. It looked beautifully plated, but the overall flavor was surprisingly sweet. We’d come back to try more.

Yelp
Yummy food! Tried the beef pho, seafood eggroll, and pad thai tofu with lychee tea. Will have to go again and try out more items...especially their huge cocktail menu.

Yelp
This place has been on my bookmarks for a long time so i was thrilled to finally stop by c: The service was super friendly and the restaurant was very clean and well decorated! We tried their banh bot chien, bo ne and pho and they were all pretty good! My favorite was the banh bot chien - the pieces of rice cakes were crispy and chewy and rlly yum! The bo ne portion was really large so def good for sharing. We also tried their egg coffee and viet coffee and both were good! I would come by next time to try their drinks as they had a pretty nice drink menu!

Yelp
Food was fresh and delicious! Entree portions are pretty large and filling. I got the crab udon dish and WOW! It had crab meat, crab claws, and a fried soft shell crab. Udon is not traditional but the clear udon which I prefer. Broth was hearty and flavorful. Saigon oi (broken rice dish) probably the best I've ever had. Most broken rice dishes are very basic but this is more elevated. Bigger portions and flavorful. Highly rec giving this place a try. So much to try on the menu.

Yelp
The servers are attentive, the food is flavorful and the inside of restaurant is very modern. Perfect for a date night or dinner party. Banh canh cua (crab udon) was very filling, highly recommend for the seafood lovers. The bo luc lac was tender and the other members of my party really liked the banh xeo tacos and pasta too.

Yelp
I came here for the bone marrow pho after seeing a video online. The portion is sizable and the meat is generous. However, I found this dish to be far too greasy and lacking in the subtle flavor that I love in my pho. Perhaps the fat overwhelmed the spices? I attribute the greasiness to the bone marrow since it is fatty. I would have to try their standard pho to know if this is an issue with the dish or their recipe overall. It's fun to try this pho for the novelty but I would not reorder it!

Yelp
Coming from California I'm spoiled af.. If y'all from California and like any of the kei concepts restaurant you have to come here just to try it. Im not gonna lie I really thought Westminster and garden grove had the best Vietnamese food in the US but Houston's Vietnamese food is also good in different ways! The garlic shaken beef was mid to me, the banh xeo tacos is probably the best thing here, canh cua was a little bit too thick and salty in my opinion, egg rolls were meh, shaken beef pasta was surprisingly good and the Bo ne was mediocre at best. We all got tired of eating American bbq so we opted for Asian food instead.. this wouldn't be my first option for Vietnamese food in Houston but it's decently priced and the portions are fair.

Yelp
We ventured out to try this Vietnamese restaurant in the Westchase area earlier this week instead of going to Bellaire, and glad we took that route! The restaurant has a modern and cozy ambiance, fitting with its location on Westheimer. It also offers standard Vietnamese dishes along with drinks (has a full bar counter). The price could be a shocker for those who are used to Bellaire/Chinatown pricing, but factoring in the location and the aesthetic, I think it is actually not bad. The Banh Bot Chien was very well made - crispy on the outside as I had requested extra crispy, but the inside was still chewy. It was interesting that they added Chinese sausage to the dish, which was non-traditional but blended well. Banh Canh Cua was also good - you get a soft-shell crab, pork slices, octopus, shrimp and some additional topping. I actually think this is the 2nd best Banh Canh Cua in Houston, for me. The broth was hot and thick when it came out, so very much a comforting dish for the winter! My SO had the Combination pho, and that was pretty good as well. Not as much flavor as with a specialized Pho place, but not shabby either. Overall, I would come back to try other dishes, or to enjoy Banh Canh Cua again!

Yelp
I've been here a handful of times and really enjoy their Viet food with a modern twist. Ambience is chill and parking is easy to find. Spacious inside and good for groups as well. We never have to wait to get seated. Some of my favorite items are: - banh trang nuong/ Viet pizza: a good appetizer to start off, love the crunch and it's packed with flavors - pho ga kho/ dry chicken pho: I love a good pho ga kho, something that's not common in Houston. Their sauce really pulls the dry pho together with the chicken. It also comes with a side of broth. - grilled oysters: always good every time I had it - bo ne/Viet steak and eggs with bone marrow: not your traditional Viet Bo ne but just as good. Definitely try it with the bone marrow. - garlic noodles with ribeye: great portion and good for sharing. The ribeye was tender. I never had any problems with their service. Their staff are always friendly. You don't get a lot of Viet food on Westheimer so this place is a good addition to the area.

Yelp
I've heard so many great things about JAM, but my visit last week was not great. We came in for a late lunch around 1:45pm, the restaurant was half busy. We ordered: -fish sauce wings -pho ga kho -saigon oi (com tam / broken rice dish) They took our order shortly after, but our food took 40+ minutes to come out. I wasn't hungry, but this wait was unreasonable. I can't imagine what the wait would be like during lunch or dinner rush. I nearly told them to cancel our order because we waited so long. When our food finally did come out, it totally missed the mark. Fish sauce wings lacked flavor, it was just salty. I would not recommend this dish at all. Pho ga kho came highly recommended (from a friend), but I felt it lacked the flavor depth I appreciate in dry noodle dishes. The saigon oi was the only dish that was palatable. I only tried the vietnamese sausage and meatloaf, which were redeemable for the meal. I'm a huge fan of pickled cabbage, but this pickle flavor seemed tone down for a different audience. $20 for a rice dish (though with many meat options) fares closely to California pricing. It doesn't compare to my favorite com tam place in sj though. I will not be returning.

Yelp
Great food. I had the beef pho and split it with my daughter. Great flavor and was not salty. My husband had chicken and fried rice which was also excellent. They worked with my son's food allergies and were able to make him a meal without nut and fish. Would happily come back again!

Yelp
Went during the early morning and needed a taste of Vietnamese food. These hit the spot for my Vietnamese food cravings for sure. I would recommend the banh xeo (not pictured) and the bo ne for sure. It is a great breakfast good to jump start your day. The ambience is very chill and I saw they had a full stocked bar. Would be a very chill place to come by at night.

Yelp
Service here is good as well as the food. The fish sauce chicken wings did not taste much of fish sauce, more of soy sauce, but it was still yummy and came out piping hot. I got the pork vermicelli bowl which was super filling and came with a lot of food. I wish the fish sauce was a little more sour/acidic, but otherwise it was yummy.

Yelp
This replaced Hiccups & Churros and I've driven it past it so many times and finally decided to try it out. I came for dinner with my friend and she got the broken rice plate and I got the combination pho. I was very impressed with the portions. My pho had so much meat it was wild (I'll never complain about having more meat but I wish there was an equal noodle ratio). We got the fried popcorn chicken and fried for our appetizer (chicken was crunchy and juicy, fries were bland and tasteless). They were decorating for Christmas when we ate here and our waitress was busy putting stuff on the tree when we were trying to flag her down, even yelling her name when a worker behind the bar saw us and came to help us out when we wanted our check/to go boxes. Overall a great experience and decent prices for Viet food outside of Chinatown.

Yelp
One of my favorite Vietnamese restaurants in the Houston area. Very up to par with Vietnamese restaurants in California. The only other Vietnamese place that tastes just as good as Hem. The service here is immaculate. Love the ambience and the design. Large and easy parking. Love the complementary shrimp chips. Menu was large and easy to read. Prices were very reasonable. The portion sizes it was amazing. Great flavor. Highly recommend it and I will come back.

Yelp
What words do I have? Umani, buttery, salty, sweet, fatty, crunch, silky, light, fibrous, smooth, funk, tart, alll wrapped in each bite. I've had plenty of viet food from CA, FL, OH, NV, TX, boyyyy I've found one of the top Kreme d Kreme. Bo Ne is one of my favorite dishes, number 1 out of all the states I've been. The bread is soft and pillowy, crispy exterior fluffy interior. I love the big dallop of the funky pate, it's earthy, meaty, organdy, and it's a must with the dish. Love the runny egg mixed with the salty sweet sauce that comes with. It's the meat is a flank steak, it's thin and soft, love how it's not chewy, it's easy to cut and easy to eat. A great choice of meat when compared to the fatty Chinese sausage it comes with. Love it's pre cut, the sausage is fatty, salty, sweet so that's where the flavors comes. Well balanced dish with the runny egg and the side of butter. I think Jimmy should sell the butter on the side, the yellow butter $$$$$$$$. Mixed all together it's a punch on the taste buds, capital F for FLAVORS. The Bo luc lac is shaken beef, very nice soft and buttery cubes of beef, it has a nice cook on it. The fresh onions and peppers mixed with the brown sauce, it's well balanced from crunch, fresh, soft, sweet, fiber, it's all texture. Well rounded dish and the body comes from the noodles. Buttery and garlic soft noodles, you can switch from too much buttery from the noodles and then the salty beef and switch back n forth.

Yelp
I got the Saigon Oi again and it never disappoints. I'm allergic to eggs so I subbed out the fried egg and meatloaf with *double shrimp and *double Vietnamese sausage and it was the best decision I could have ever made. Thank you for not charging for substitutes. I also opted for the Tomahawk which was only a +6 up charge. This was $25.00 and I ate like a king. Saved calories and stuck with water which was served in a chilled recycled whiskey bottle. Okay fancy... This is one of my "treat yo self" spots anytime I have an amazing day at work and killer morning workout. This meal is perfect when I'm intermittent fasting during the day and need to load up. *Not pictured: * the house siracha - which was also dynamite. * staff - excellent service, friendly environment * clean floors, chairs, tables, and bathrooms. (Nothings worse than going to a nice place and the bathrooms haven't been serviced and there's food on the floor from previous customers.) You don't have to break the bank to have a nice meal in a clean restaurant with kind people. Whether you're needing a quiet meal with yourself, going on a date, or looking for a trendy spot to eat with friends, this place is a cozy spot to hang out. Hidden Gem. 10/10 I bring friends and family from out of town here all the time and they love it.

Yelp
Really enjoyed my 1st visit here. I had the Thai Shrimp Salad from the winter menu (I hope they serve this dish all year round) with "raw' shrimp which is how they described it, but in actuality, the shrimp are cured in lime (or other citrus juices) and had a really refreshing taste. I finished it off with an egg coffee which is wonderful. Almost like a dessert. My wife had the garlic noodles with orange chicken and some egg rolls which she really enjoyed as well. Yes we definitely will be going back.

Yelp
This locally owned and operated restaurant elevates traditional Vietnamese dishes and gives it a modern twist, which I appreciate, because I'm not always wanting Vietnamese food at a hole-in-the-wall. It's great for weekend brunch with the girls or a not-break-the-bank fancy date. Service is always very attentive. They have a seasonal and regular menu with vegetarian options. Portions are shareable, so I recommend doing family style here. Also don't miss out on the Vietnamese egg coffee here. You'll probably be up until 2am but it's really good and not always easy to find in a very large size like they offer here.

Yelp
A viet kitchen with a cocktail menu? Yes, please. The place has a beautiful layout, updated and modern. The water carafes are from recycled tequila bottles. And well thought of custom bowls and dishes set the table. I'm a sucker for classic cocktails, so I order an aviation (and not many places have this one on their menu). 9/10. We start off with the grilled oysters with cream cheese, half with quail eggs and egg rolls. They came out piping hot, 6/10. They were creamy but didn't wow me or make me notate that I need to come back for these again. Adding the quail egg (+$3) didn't level up the dish by that much either. I ordered the Bo ne dish, sadly it did not come out sizzling or piping hot, but it was tasty. 6.72/10 All the dishes that were served were well plated and pleasing to the eye. My rating of this place is a 3.64/5 but since yelp doesn't have random half stars, I had to round up.

Yelp
This a high quality pho restaurant, that being said, the inside atmosphere was very pleasant. The pho soup was delicious. The rice plate was different from what I was expecting. A little on the costly side (but I guess that's becoming the new normal with inflation). Great place for a date or to bring a few friends.

Yelp
Came for mother's day trying to dodge anything packed. At 11am, there were about 5-6 tables. By noon, the place was pretty full! For appetizers, we ordered banh bhot chien, which is a fried rice cake that everyone knows as A1 from Tan Tan. They did a fancy spin on it by adding pickled vegetables, fish eggs, fried onions and chinese sausage. It wasn't bad but the rice cakes were pretty big. It did take them 20+ minutes to bring out the dish - and this was before the crowd came in. The rest of our order contained pho, mi quang and banh canh - all were decent, however, I think I would rather drive the extra 15 minutes to Bellaire. The cafe sua da was not good - my husband took a few sips and did not finish it... and this guy drinks day old coffee at home. I'm disappointed that this place wasn't better for us - we love not having to drive to Bellaire, but in this case considering the price and service, we will have to.

Yelp
I went here for Mother's Day with my sister and our cousin's immediate family for lunch. The wait wasn't long at all for a table of 5. The waitress was very friendly and even gave us Ferrero Rocher at the end of our meal. The place was cute and clean, with a noise level that allowed for easy conversation. Regarding the food: * The prawns were slightly overcooked, scoring a 3/10. * The Bo Ne was tasty but didn't stand out compared to other locations I've tried before, earning a 7.5/10. * The Pho Dac Bich with bone marrow was excellent, packed with meat and flavorful spices in the broth, earning an 8.5/10. * Although the Banh Canh Cua was slightly runnier than I prefer for this dish, it still contained a good amount of protein, rating a 6/10. * The crispy Banh Bot Chien was topped with roe and Chinese sausage, a rare find in Vietnamese restaurants, and scored an 8.5/10. Would I come back? - Yes Do I think it really stands out from many Viet restaurants serving similar dishes? - No

Yelp
The Pho here is super good! Their lunch special menu has great prices so would definitely recommend trying that it ends at 2 pm. I've tried their tofu and brisket pho and I love it! The service is great it gets busy sometimes but they still don't make you wait too long and it's a cute place with a nice ambiance too. Recently, they renovated and have a bar setup too now. For pho lovers, go try this out!

Yelp
Service here was great. I was warmly greeted upon arrival and my husband, my dog, and I were seated immediately. The furniture was sleek m, but comfortable. The decor reminded me of restaurants I visit in OC. Also, this is the most dog friendly restaurant I have ever been to. Our server asked if my dog would like some water and he brought out a plastic tub for her. I ordered the Banh Xeo because I always order it when I given the opportunity. It was served with a small carafe of fish sauce. I added some sriracha and it was glorious. Next, I had pho ga. I'm a little weirded out by eating chicken and egg together. Feeling wrong, but still going for it, I dove face first into the experience of the best chicken pho I've had in a long time. Full disclosure, I live in SATX. One of the things we don't get often is fresh rice noodles in soup. I always end up eating dried rice noodles.. it's a hard life. When offered the fresh noodles, I went for it. Worth it for that slightly oily but pillowy chew of fresh noodles. Thank you Houston and thank you JAM.

Yelp
Coming from SoCal, I was a bit underwhelmed by this spot, especially if you've been to Nep Cafe by Kei Concept. The food was mediocre and quite pricey for the area, though the ambiance was nice. The fruit tea was overly sweet with a heavy syrup taste, which didn't quite hit the mark for me. Service was nice and friendly.

Yelp
The interior and ambiance at J.A.M are great, and the service is good. However, I found the food a bit underwhelming. Dishes like Shaking Chicken and gà xào lá quế didn't quite meet my expectations. The chicken in the Shaking Chicken dish was a bit tough and not as tender or juicy as I expected. In comparison, I feel other places like Hughie's do a better job with similar dishes.

Yelp
We had the garlic noodles with chicken and the chicken Pho this past visit. I absolutely LOVE all their noodle dishes but I must say the Pho was just okay. We will definitely be back, but will be sticking to the noodle dishes! Really love this place and it's close by and open late, so I can stop by after getting off of work! Win-Win! Added to say: Just came back in for some Pho and it was amazing! We always come for noodles but will be adding pho into the rotation now! You should definitely give this place a try. It's now sit down and order from the table instead of the counter and with a new menu! It's so much nicer Added again to say: Recently tried their Teas and they are amazing. We've now tried pad see ew, garlic noodles, shaking beef, shaking chicken, Pho brisket, Pho chicken, and the popcorn chicken. ALL THESE ITEMS ARE AMAZING!

Yelp
I recently tried one of the newest Vietnamese restaurants in Houston, known for its modern take on Vietnamese cuisine. Located in a bustling plaza with various dining options, parking can be a challenge due to the shared lot. Service was okay a bit slow for not a lot of customer dining in. As for the design of the restaurant, it had a dark moody feel to it at night. Probably a different feel during the day when there is more light shining through. Opting for the shaken beef with a side of steamed rice, I found it somewhat lacking in flavor compared to the traditional dishes I'm accustomed to, especially those prepared by my mom. Additionally, the portion size seemed smaller compared to other Vietnamese eateries in Bellaire. Overall, I don't foresee myself returning frequently, if at all, due to the underwhelming flavor, pricing, and portion size.

Yelp
Gave this place another chance after my disappointment with the garlic noodles. Well, the Pho was next to try. The broth was alright. The highlight for me was the bone marrow lol. The noodles were too soft and the brisket had no flavor. When I make Pho, I'm cooking the brisket with the broth. Their brisket looked plain in color and also plain in flavor like it was just cooked separate and boiled. Usually I'm not a fan of Bo Vien (meatballs) but these were pretty good. My takeaway from this dinner was that the Thai Tea is well worth the price but the Pho really needs some fine tuning. Came back last weekend and had the Pho Ga Kho which is a dry thin noodle with the same savory brown sauce you'd get if you ordered Hu Tieu Kho. Very good without the sauce too. Only thing I didn't like was the poached chicken. It needed some flavor at least like maybe if it was cooked in the Pho Ga broth or some smoky cinnamon would've been nice too. But I'd order it again.

Yelp
I came in Sunday around 8pm. Had pho ga, oysters which I believe were the ones that gave me and my friend food poisoning.

Yelp
I always make a point of getting Vietnamese food when we are back in the States, and this trip is was J.A.M. The restaurant is bright and nicely decorated, the service was quite good, and I found the menu interesting enough to venture from my usual order of pho. My chicken garlic noodles were quite good and enough food for at least two meals.Hubby also enjoyed his meal, and the friend we stayed with tried it after our recommendation and also liked it. Definitely give it a try!

Yelp
In Houston over the past weekend, my fiancée friend recommended this place since we were craving Asian food. So we decided to give it a try. The wait was not long, sat at our table and the waiter/waitress was quick and ready to take our drink order and gave us time to look over the menu. My fiancée order the Shaking Beef, and I ordered the Garlic Noodles with Orange chicken, I'd say the dishes were spot on and the food hit the spot. I also order the Thai tea and it was amazing. I was a little disappointed that they ran out of coffee since we arrived around 12pm-1pm. But overall, great experience, food was amazing, and service was great. Give it a try if you're in Houston.

Yelp
Man I was so happy this place lived up to the hype. I absolutely love vietnamese com dishes so when I saw they had the tomahawk pork chop, I knew it was just a matter of time when I'd find myself here. They are a kitchen and bar so it was fitting to have their own drinks but I had 2/3 of their vodka and wasn't happy with them. Jamhattan and old fashioned were decent though...their horchata milk tea is amazing. Opt for a larger size cause their regular size is tiny. Maybe 3 gulps. Saigon Oi with tomahawk 5/5 The pork chop was thick but it somehow retained all its seasoning and flavor. Char was good also. But I can imagine if the chop was skinnier, there would be more char and flavor. Will get it next time. The rice was flavorful but I thought the portion of the rice was small for a rice plate. The sausage is so good!!! Bo ne with bone marrow 3.5/5 I think this would've worked better if the meat was sizzling on its own and sut into small cubes. They used my favorite cut of meat (outside skirt). I thought the butter and pate were decent, baguette was toasted well, but overall, thought it needed more sizzle. Didn't really get much of tomato flavor in the tomato based sauced. I think the marrow could've used more seasoning. It was a decent amount of marrow that I got. Orange chicken garlic noodles 5/5 I would be back for their orange chicken. It was crispy and had a very direct orange punch. Super flavorful! Garlic noodles were also very tasty! Add the parmesan! Com ga ba chi 4/5 The best parts of this dish were the liquids it came with. The dipping sauce was sweet and spicy and flavourful, the soup was amazing! If that's the bone broth pho ga base, I'll be back for a big bowl of it!!! Wings with caramelized fish sauce 5/5 The wings were a decent size and perfectly sauced. The sauce on these wings were the best flavor I ate there. I'll be back and will order 10 pieces just for me!!! Service was kind of slow especially when the food came out. We received one plate at a time, and waited maybe 5min between when the plates would be ready. Not a huge deal for us but could affect others. When we ordered our drinks, I received mine then almost 10min later my husband's drink came out. We joked that the cubed ice for his old fashioned needed to be hand carved. Again, not a deal breaker because the food here is amazing and well worth it.

Yelp
There was no wait when I came here on a Friday evening. The food came out hot and delicious ! I personally like the bigger noodles in my pho since it doesn't get soggy fast like the smaller ones. The vegetables were pretty fresh. The broth had a nice fragrance to it and not too fatty. We got a pitcher of water for a big group so that way we wouldn't have to wait to get the attention of a waiter. The atmosphere was nice: very clean and friendly.

Yelp
Nice open space with plenty of light. I loved everything we ordered. Great flavor. Nothing overcooked and dry. Great spot for some viet food.

Yelp
One of the best Vietnamese meals I've had! We came on a Wednesday afternoon and the place was fairly packed, a testament to how popular this restaurant is. Food: we ordered the pho special (bone marrow, meatballs, ribeye, shank, egg) and the flavor was delicious! Chicken pho (braised for 6 hours) was also very tasty. The grilled prawns were fresh, as well as their shrimp crepe. 5/5 Service: we were immediately seated and the server gave us several great recommendations. Food came out promptly, no complaints! Ambiance: restaurant was clean and they had a poppin 2000's playlist in the background. Nice decor all around! Highly recommend giving this place a try, we'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Nice spot that delivers great Vietnamese flavors in a cozy setting. I tried the Banh Bot Chien (crispy rice cake), which was fried to perfection and paired wonderfully with pickled vegetables and eggs. The Banh Canh Cua featured a soft-shell crab and was packed with rich, delicious flavors. We also enjoyed the Bo Ne, where the steak was cooked to perfection and tasted amazing with the bread and pate spread. It was a delightful Vietnamese dining experience.

Yelp
New restaurant on Westheimer Road towards Highway 6 if you're coming from the beltway. It's an area with lots of other chains around it next to a five guys. I went with 5 other friends and a baby and it was spacious enough to fit us all. I think it would be great for large groups as well as intimate date. We went at 7 and people were coming in slowly around 8 probably for a late dinner. Service was great, we were seated promptly, server was nice and attentive. I tried the Com Bo Luc lac and flavor was ON POINT! One of the better ones I've tried. I asked them to make it medium rare and it WAS, surprisingly. It's served on a hot sizzling pan with onions, bell peppers, and tomatoes. Very colorful plate nicely done although the rice seems to be broken rice. I prefer regular steamed rice because It was a bit dry for my liking. The oysters were AMAZING! I forgot what it's called but it's the first option, it's on their winter menu and Good Lord, there are no words. You've just got to taste it if you ever come to J.A.M! 5/5 would come again just for the oysters.

Yelp
First off what does 'J.A.M' stand for? If i were to guess, it would be the chef/owner's initials, but I don't think thats correct either. We came on a slow Sunday night where it was quite the relaxed atmosphere. You'll notice that this place has little changed since the Churaholic days. Glad to see that the place was clean and overall kept up pretty nicely and JAM has stomped itself down and cemented its presence. The service staff were quite attentive and got our drink and orders in pretty quickly. We ordered some viet family staples: grilled fish, banh xeo taco, garlic noodles with beef and messy fried rice, just to name the main ones. All of the dishes were visibly aesthetic with vegetables and contrasting colors. Food was well prepared with generous portions. My favorite of the night was the messy fried rice that comes with two langostas or prawns with a shell of a crab covering a fried egg and the rice itself was filled with roe. The Banh Xeo Taco was a very strong dish as well. Loaded with vegetables and shrimp, the flavors were on point and then some. The elevated dishes, portions and casual atmosphere really does come at a pricing level that I feel is higher than it should be. But given the economic factors and people loving good food, people will pay whatever is necessary for a good experience. Overall good experience, however I'll have to save up for my next visit.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try out this place and I'm so glad I got to try it! My family and I ordered way more food than we needed, but there were so many things I wanted to try so we couldn't decide! Main idea: This place is more street food based and would make a great lunch place. Portion sizes are pretty decent but can be a bit pricey. There were so many dishes to try that was a combo of viet fusion foods as well as more authentic street foods. For our appetizers, we got the banh can which is a plate of 6 little samplers of I guess egg and seafood? Not sure, but it came out in a cast iron and it was delicious. I would totally get it again. We also got the bánh xèo Taco which was pretty good as well. It was pretty much your typical bánh xèo, just a smaller size. It was still very crispy and had great flavor but a bit pricey. For our mains, we got the garlic noodles with beef which looked great because it was a huge portion but a bit salty in my opinion. I think if you're unsure of diving into some of the more "authentic" items, this is a great dish that even picky eaters might enjoy. We also got the messy fried rice which was pretty delicious and came with a decent amount of seafood. It was your typical fried rice with a more seafood twist. Last but not least, we got the red snapper dish which was great too. They actually took out the majority of the bones, which I really appreciated and don't see quite often in other places. The service was great overall. I quite enjoyed my experience here but probably would come back more for lunch and not order as much food since we had way too much leftover.

Yelp
HOUSTON, TX 77077 / VIETNAMESE / SUN 09-10-23 / LUNCH +The customer service was okay. +The portions are huge. +The broth was very rich, full of flavor but a little on the greasy side. -The noodles were way overcooked. -The tables, chairs, and dining area was pretty dirty. -The restroom was disgusting; see the attached pics. I came here because their social media posts showed a very clean kitchen, but found out the front-of-the house needs some operational improvement. The food was great, but could've been better. It would be great if they open another restaurant concept in Katy Asia Town or somewhere further out in the 'burbs.

Yelp
Came to J.A.M to celebrate Lunar New Year with a large group of friends and a great time was had by all. When I say a big group, I mean a big group. I think we had about 20 people give or take. The restaurant is at the end of a shopping strip shared with other businesses and eateries. Parking is plentiful even with most of us not car pooling and showing up at the same time. From the outside, it looks like any other restaurant, but inside, it is beautifully decorated and has upscale vibes. They had a nice mix of music playing as well. My friend made reservations and arrangements in advance and they seated us right on time. Customer service was amazing. The staff had a nice long table set up for us and had the proper amount of staff to take care of all of us. They even allowed us to split checks which is such a stress relief when you dine with large crowds. Tran was our main waitress and she did a phenomenal job taking care of us. While we looked over the menu, our friend that hosted us was kind enough to start us off with Bánh Tráng Nuong which is basically a Vietnamese pizza. It was on their seasonal menu and was quite tasty. The rice paper base was surprisingly sturdy and was topped with quail egg, dry shrimp, sausage, green onions and sauces. On paper, the ingredients doesn't sound like they mix well together, but to me, the flavors were on point and enjoyable. I ordered Pork Egg Rolls to go with my main and these were delicious. They were freshly made and had a delicious filling. This is a Vietnamese restaurant, but I went against the grain and ordered the Thai Basil Chicken as my entrée simply because Tran highly recommended it. It was also the only dish with spicy in parentheses and I was in a spicy mood. She offered to make it extra spicy and I was all for it. It was very good and satisfied my spicy craving. The portions here are also very generous. I washed it all down with Thai Tea with Boba. It was a good palette cleanser and was very refreshing. The restaurant was also very generous and brought out a few orders of raw oysters on the house. Most of us were full at that point, but we made room to try it. They were super fresh and tasted great. They topped it with what reminded me of a pico de gallo and something spicy. Just overall a very fresh and refreshing bite. I did not hear one complaint that night and that is saying alot considering how large our party was. I wish this place was closer, but I will definitely eat here again if in the area.

Yelp
Pho so good they sell out!! J.A.M.'s service & food are top notch! A local food influencer posted the pho at J.A.M. & after seeing her post I couldn't wait to check it out! I'm sure I wasn't the only one "influenced" to try their pho since her post went viral & sure enough, they were sold out of the pho I wanted when I arrived around 3pm but to my surprise the chef whipped up a "SPECIAL" pho which he explained was something new & an off-menu exclusive. I was one of the first to try their "special pho" & it's now made it on to their menu. I've had good pho but I've never had pho quite like this with bone marrow & all! I want to thank the chef for making me a special bowl of pho, it was absolutely delicious & I thoroughly enjoyed it!

Yelp
Pretty happy with this spot for lunch. Prompt service, delicious food with good serving sizes at a good price. They make the food a little bland so you have to make your own spice. The place is cute. We did have to chase down the waiter at the end to get a check because they use an all digital POS system. We also never got our water refilled and it wasn't clear if you get refills on the drinks from the lunch special or not. Looking forward to coming back again!

Yelp
I've had this place bookmarked for a while and I'm glad I finally had a chance to try it, thanks to Ann L. planning an Unofficial Yelp Event (UYE) here! Even though Tet or Lunar New Year has passed, what a great way to keep the celebration going here. Our big party of Yelpers arrived on a Monday night and J.A.M was super prepared in organizing a LONG table for all of us. This evidently wasn't their first rodeo. I'm honestly impressed with how creative they got with arranging the long the table so as not to block off an entire section of the restaurant and leave plenty of space for moving around. Once our big group sat down, our server Tran was super prepared and knew the drill. Also super impressed. She went down the line and started off taking our drink orders, shortly coming back around afterwards to take our food orders. She tied our names to our individual orders, which streamlined things significantly when it came time to pay our checks. For my drink, I ordered the Dragonfruit cocktail that was featured on their Tet special cocktail menu at the table. I enjoy dragonfruit a lot but have never had it in cocktail form - this one was served up with vodka. This drink was definitely photo-worthy and had lots of dragonfruit chunks immersed in it. While I couldn't taste too much of the vodka, the drink itself was tasty and at $14, was reasonably priced. Ann was nice enough to order a few plates of banh trang nuong (Vietnamese Pizza) for the group to try. Super flavorful! I don't think I've had this since I was in Vietnam, so this was definitely a good nostalgia kick. I ordered the bo ne (Vietnamese steak and eggs), and boy did this not disappoint. I err on the side of caution for bo ne when I'm at a place that doesn't have "bo ne" in their name, AND I have only ordered it for lunch. But for dinner, this one definitely hit the spot. The plate came out on a large metal plate vs. a sizzling plate I've normally had it served on. But I don't think a sizzling plate would've sufficed for this one, because it was filled with meat and eggs. When placing my order, Tran informed me that they had run out of one of the meats, but graciously offered to substitute more pate or an extra egg at no charge, so I opted for a third egg. This plate was loaded with steak, Chinese sausage, slices of gio (Vietnamese pork roll), onions, corns, and micro greens (those last two were a pleasant surprise), and of course the eggs. On the side, a salad, baguette, and pate. Everything came together so beautifully. BEFORE YOU EAT, make sure to snap a photo. The presentation was excellent and I almost didn't want to dig in and demolish the plate. Every single bite I had of this plate was so flavorful. The steak was tender and I was able to easily (lazily) cut with the provided fork and spoon. The gio and Chinese sausage were both very good for additional meat variety from the usual bo ne. And the side salad balanced all of the meat perfectly to wash everything down. To our surprise, the co-owner Jimmy later brought out some plates of raw oysters for our tables, all on da house. I totally did not expect this, but it was super nice of him and we all of course dug in. These definitely had a kick to them with a heavy touch of spice. Flavor-wise, these oysters were good - while I don't know if I'd get an entire order of these unless I was with a big group, I'm glad I got to try one for the experience. Once again praising Tram, she was a rockstar. With as big and rowdy as our group can be, she and the rest of the staff came around regularly to check on us, replacing our empty bottles of water, taking additional orders, and making sure that all was good throughout our visit. The atmosphere here was great. The lights were dim for intimacy, but not too dark, especially with a huge window wall in the front and then some. Music was bussin, playing plenty of 2000's R&B and hip hop throughout the night. Definitely a great spot to consider for a date night or fun night out with friends. Wow, what a great time. I wish I worked or lived closer to here so that I could swing by on the regular, but guess I have another option if I'm ever out in Westchase. Yeah, it is a little pricier than your standard Vietnamese fare a few blocks down the road on Bellaire Blvd. But for the experience, I'd say it's worth every buck. I saw so many other dishes from friends around me that looked so good, I'll have to try them next time! Garlic noodles, orange chicken, and spicy mozzarella fries. I'm hungry for all of these just writing up this review! Thanks Ann for organizing a great UYE and I look forward to coming back soon.

Yelp
Service was great! The design and ambience of the restaurant is absolutely beautiful. The presentation of the food is put together nicely. The overall taste and flavor of all the foods was decent but not the usual type of Vietnamese food I am familiar with; however, it is still good to eat. The best dish that we ate was the nui xao thit bo. The least favorite dish was the banh xeo taco as it had too much thick batter and the fish sauce was not a favorite as it had a certain taste almost like apple cider vinegar that I didn't think it worked well with it. Food: 3.5/5 Service: 4/5 Ambience: 5/5

Yelp
I came this place and sat at the bar. The bartender Benjamin was great. I tried a few of his creations and it was fantastic. I tried a few appetizers and they are delicious. I highly recommend this place.
