Jamahkiri Dive Resort & SPA

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel overall and can genuinely recommend it. The restaurant is sensational – the food quality is outstanding and the staff in the restaurant are extremely friendly and professional. The view and the location are truly unique. The rooms were very clean and well maintained. Everything was perfect in that regard. Another big highlight is the snorkeling directly in front of the hotel – absolutely fantastic. Unfortunately, our experience with the reception was disappointing. The ladies at the front desk were not very welcoming and did not appear particularly service-oriented. The biggest issue occurred when we arranged a taxi for our departure through the reception. We were initially told the price would be 350 Baht. At pickup, the driver demanded 400 Baht from us, plus another 400 Baht for additional guests. Instead of a private transfer as expected, it turned out to be a shared pickup truck with eight passengers. The driver was unfriendly, drove carelessly, and even tried to charge more during the ride. This felt unprofessional and unsafe — especially as another family with a baby was on board. It is unfortunate that such an incident happened at the end of an otherwise excellent stay. Despite this issue, we would still recommend the hotel because the location, restaurant, cleanliness, and overall atmosphere are truly outstanding. We hope management improves coordination and service at reception to match the high standard of the rest of the hotel.

My partner had 102 fever and the concierge did not deliver water so he can take medicines (I have screenshots where they basically didn't care).||This place has a beautiful property, albeit old and in need of repair, with 0 soul in it. Everything was an effort in overselling and they wanted to extract money for every thing -- including an iced coffee at breakfast.||Everything happens over WhatsApp (no phones in the rooms) and you're lucky if you get a response from them even in extremely urgent situations. What if I was bitten by a wasp in remote Koh Tao? Hiding under covers from a wasp in my room is NOT my idea of luxury.||I am extremely disappointed and I wish I had booked through a travel agent so I would have gotten a refund but I am stuck.

It was one of the best resorts I have ever stayed in. The service is extraordinary and they care for every detail. The design of the hotel and both exterior and interior is extremely well curated. The restaurant is great and the staff is friendly. The rooms are spacious and the views breathtaking. The diving experience was also great since the school is not as crowded as others.

Absolutely loved Jamahkiri; first of all the staff were 10/10, incredibly friendly and helpful. I was sick with food poisoning and had to go to the local clinic, and they arranged transport there and back, and even held an umbrella to give me shade as I climbed the stairs. Everyone is always smiling and friendly. The facilities themselves are great; beautiful view from the pool (which was clean), great breakfast and good menu for dining. The room itself is a bit dated, but it was spotless clean. The rest of the facilities are very well maintained. We had the best diving experience with their dive club (it was more expensive than elsewhere but you get what you pay for. We checked out other places and this was much much better). Snorkeling right off the report was awesome; so many fish and even a sea turtle. The gym was surprisingly well equipped and AC. Honestly couldn't recommend this place any more. Only downside is there are alot of stairs, so you dont want to forget anything in the room 😅. We were sad to leave.

Stayed here in 2023. Just getting around to my review. The staff of this resort were welcoming, friendly, and professional. The rooms are wonderful with exquisite views. The dive shop staff were fun, safe and they knew where to fins the cool stuff. Would not hesitate to recommend Jamakhiri. The only detractor is the distance from town for dining and wandering. But the taxi service is incredibly efficient so not that big a deal. Enjoy this spectacular resort.

I do not recommend this hotel. The location is beautiful and the view is spectacular — but that’s about it. There are many serious issues. The air conditioning simply does not work properly. It is unbearable at night; you need to take a cold shower just to feel some relief. The unit is very weak and takes hours to cool the room, if it cools at all. The internet is extremely slow and inconsistent, making it unreliable. For the price they charge, this is unacceptable. The quality of the shampoo and soap is very poor, the towels feel like those from a budget hotel, and the taxi to the hotel costs 500 baht each way. Overall, it is overpriced and does not deliver the level of comfort and quality expected for this category.

We stayed at Jamahkiri Dive Resort & Spa in Koh Tao, and in our opinion it’s an excellent 4-star hotel. We got a brand new room with a private pool, and we really enjoyed our stay. The room had a small kitchen with a microwave and refrigerator, which was very convenient. The pool was the perfect size for a couple, and the hotel also has a good gym and a really nice spa. Breakfast didn’t have a huge variety, but it was perfectly fine and tasty. The only thing to note is that the hotel is located on a hill, so it’s quite steep and not walkable to the center. However, the hotel provides a free shuttle service to and from the town three times a day, which was really convenient. Overall, we had a great experience and the service was very good.

Reception refused to provide a second key card, saying a four star hotel had no spare key cards available. That is not acceptable at this level. The spa service was very poor. Calls were not answered. When someone finally responded, they asked us to send a message instead. The reply came only the next day and did not offer proper assistance. When we went there in person, staff said they were fully booked and did not suggest any alternative times. Later that same day, our friends were able to book an appointment. The staff were not proactive and did not seem interested in helping. The hotel has many stairs between different areas. Constantly going up and down is exhausting and not suitable for older guests or anyone with mobility issues. By the time you reach the restaurant, you already feel tired. The road leading to the hotel is extremely steep and damaged. Walking up feels unsafe. Access conditions do not match what you expect from a four star property.
