"Jamaica House is the first Jamaican restaurant I went to [back] when I moved to Miami and I have never been disappointed. They have some veggie stew that I was surprised by. It tasted so good, really healthy, so tasty. Their white rice and stew chicken I eat a lot. Their brown stew fish is really nice as well. I order food there a lot, recently. It's hard to find good Jamaican food outside of Jamaica, and so these restaurants are so important to me because they save me so many times.”" - brennan carley

Arrived to have brunch but what we wanted was not ready until after 1230pm so we went shopping and came back. When we arrived after 1230pm, there was no wait but the item we wanted would not be ready for another 30 minutes. We accepted and placed our order. We let the cashier know that we would be dining in and took the fritters to the table to wait for the rest of the food. The fritters were excellent great texture, flavor, and portion. The curry conch was delicious and fresh. The oxtail stew was savory, tender, and balanced well with the rice that has a hint of coconut. The meals came with cabbage and we ordered some fried dough. The food will bring you back but the service is inattentive and leaves much to be desired. Improving customer satisfaction would go a long way to make it necessary to expand.

Found a roach in my food and the manager Victor hung up the phone in my face saying it didn’t come from them. VERY RUDE NO CUSTOMER SERVICE AT ALL. LATOYA WAS NICE SHE IS THE OWNER’S WIFE. She didn’t come out to give me a refund when I came back up there think she was embarrassed so I left but they don’t treat customers good at all. And they had the nerves to ask if I want something else??

Shanelle Marcelin

Google
I found a fly in my food & was honestly disgusted. When I went back to get a refund one of the workers had an attitude as if I was the problem. Not only that , they didn’t even have the decency to apologize or anything. I’m so disgusted & and disappointed. I feel SICK

Shameka Griffin

Google
Poor experience tonight with (3) orders for my family. Spoke with guy who bagged the food and work in back and was given nasty attitude and would not fix my orders. Unfortunately, I requested a refund and left because I never had an issue till tonight and if you can’t make it right or treat customer with respect then I’ll keep my money. Do better by the customer and don’t cheat people out of their hard earned money. I’ll see owner next time.

The wait at this restaurant is about 15 minutes to order, followed by another 15-20 minutes for your food to be ready. The service is friendly, and everything is made fresh. The food is incredibly flavorful—I had the jerk chicken, rice and peas, and chicken soup, and every bite was packed with spice and taste.

Google
3.4⭐️ When you take into consideration everything; the price, the 24hour service, and the quantity of food — this place is great! Everything was juicy, full of flavor, and tasted good. The prices are super lovely. The service (around 7 PM on a Tuesday) was friendly. Unfortunately, all of my friends who ate oxtail had stomach issues, and some even threw up. The rest of us who had chicken was okay. The juices were great too. I just don’t trust that there isn’t as much sugar as they told us (we asked about it). Wow, what an interesting place. We ate at the location, and that line never died. Very popular spot! Give it a try.

Google
Don't let the location and appearance prevent you from trying this place. It is one of best value restaurants in my travel in southern Florida. The food is amazing. We had small sized jerk ck, curry ck and stew beef for take out. It was plenty. All for under $40. The ladies knew we were out of town and shown us patience. The service was friendly. It is a 24 hours Operation. The inside of the place is generally setup for take out, but, it does have a dinning room next door. Overall, will come back and try the ox tail and many other selections.

Google
Good Fresh Food & customer service...They’re one of the only few restaurants that stays open (24Hrs)late nights in the area!

Nadia V.

Yelp
Late night stop Food is great.... craving a late night cap. Stop here for a Jamaican cuisine. There will be a line, however it goes fast. The food is fresh and nice.

JoAnn B.

Yelp
I order the oxtail, rice/peas and cabbage, I didn't get any cabbage or fried plantain. The oxtail was too spicy for my taste. They put too much gravy on the rice causing it to leak out and make a mess. The service was standard and the ambience was okay

Denise Z.

Yelp
if you are looking for friendly people and great customer service, then this is the place to come. I got the chicken with peas and rice and cabbage and plantains. It was very good, but I do think the chicken had a bit of a brown sugar taste to them, which was not what I was expecting. That is the only reason I am taking off one star. Overall, it was good and I would return. The atmosphere was very clean. Not crowded. And they even brought out a fresh pan of chicken when I asked. And the price was just right. I did leave a tip.

Key J.

Yelp
Great spot for late night eats! Open 24 hours so you can satisfy your late night cravings. If you want authentic Jamaican food this is the place for you. Curry chicken 9/10 - I asked for extra gravy and they did not disappoint. Super filling and the perfect amount of spice. Sometimes curry can be a bit much but this was perfect and the meat was tender. The veggies were soft and the gravy had a great texture. Mac & cheese 9/10 - cheesy, soft and delicious!! This Mac hit every spot necessary lol. House Strawberry lemonade 4/10 - did not taste like strawberry lemonade at all lol. It was very sweet but those flavors were not there. It tasted like a different type of juice. Definitely tasted a little ginger in it. This wasn't my first time here and it won't be my last. Other honorable mentions: oxtail!! I didn't get it this time because they ran out but it's so good.

Phallyn L.

Yelp
Food was great! It's my birthday and i was on the way to the airport and wanted some traditional Jamaican food and this is the SPOT!

Abigail P.

Yelp
I recommend coming here after a night of partying. They are open 24 hours. The wait time is ridiculous but that fried dumpling and stew chicken will get you right.

Ms T.

Yelp
So my husband went and purchased 3 oxtails dinner. The total is $54.60. Upon looking at the receipt I noticed there was a $10.00 charge for the tip, which he did NOT leave... While trying to enjoy my dinner I noticed that there was a lot of fat on the oxtails. We called into the restaurant and was told to the cashier and owner LaToya what we encountered. The cashier stated that fat should be on the oxtails and that's how they cook their food. REALLY!!! I cook and know for a fact that meat should be clean before cooking... Since this restaurant feels otherwise then let me contact the health department so that they could stop by and inspect this restaurant. I wonder what else is going on there... LaToya was very unreasonable. My husband is taking this food right back to the restaurant ASAP...

Lea L.

Yelp
Rice and gravy was very good. Curry goat meat felt tough. I got a large platter and I left all the meat. Cabbage was in a small box, they could of just put that small serving in the box. It's a waste of styrofoam. Bf had the oxtail. It was tasty.. some pieces were just fat.

Gery W.

Yelp
Food was just ok, missing items from selection, staff were not inviting, no welcome, no sense of they cared for your service, just looked you during transaction: below level customer service skills: i try to shop at minority owned business but sad over their service,

Rochelle K.

Yelp
The main attraction to this place I think is that they are open 24/7 which is rare to find a Jamaican restaurant that's always open. The place is small and it was packed when I went. Many people were standing around waiting for their food. Basically you order and wait for them to call your order number. You don't see them prepare your food. Luckily, I checked my food before leaving and realized I was given brown stew chicken instead of jerk pork. I had to return the food.. My jerk pork was pretty good. It tasted the jerk flavor. I also gotten ox tails which was decent. My biggest complaint was the rice wasn't so fresh. My left overs for the next day; I had to throw away the rice because it smelled bad.

Mitchell B.

Yelp
Great Jamaican food! You will have to wait like any great food place. This is my go to spot and it's open 24/7

Latrell B.

Yelp
This is a takeout spot but there's plenty of seating next door. We went late afternoon and it wasn't crowded. We ordered brown stew chicken and curry chicken which were both tasty, especially the brown stew chicken. They gave plenty of gravy which was a plus. The rice and peas were good, as was my soursop drink. They brought out some fried shrimp which looked so appealing . My only complaint was the cabbage. It may have been rushed to get out--but, it had no taste. None whatsoever. It was barely cooked and without any spices. I was surprised! Overall, though--I would recommend.

Laila K.

Yelp
I must say this is my favorite Jamaican spot. They are always busy so I'll advise to order ahead or expect to wait in a very long line. However the food is so good!!!

KaReem C.

Yelp
Food here is a pass but I really love the fact that you can get Jamaican food 24/7 haven't tried there food in the day time yet so can't really say if it's better then but if your craving Jamaican food after hours this. The spot

Maddii B.

Yelp
Definitely a Miami staple! A must try if you are visiting the city and the best part is they are open 24 hrs. I usually get the brown stew chicken but everything is very good!

Draga P.

Yelp
Horrible food and service. Wait forever to get served. Not safe place to be . Do not recommend this place.

Miesha M.

Yelp
Customer service was surprisingly good...Minus the Bag Lady(She didn't give a that we didn't get any veggies with our meal) On the other hand, the cashier was really nice. The food was really good. I would come back.

Lc B.

Yelp
This is one of the great place to eat in or take out, food is delicious and you get a lot of food for you moneygive them a try if you are ever in the area. I try to stop by when am on that side.

Annie L.

Yelp
The food here is so comforting. I wanted Caribbean style breakfast on this day, something tasty and filling at the same time. I ordered Ackee and Saltfish (with the sides of dumplings, boiled green banana and more) $13.25. I also got a small Callaloo $9.85 and had to washed it down with a Red Stripe $4.00 ( don't judge me). Everything came up to $28.72. That was my breakfast and lunch. It was so delicious and took me back to when I vacationed in Jamaica. Im definitely coming back here. Absolutely loved it.

Zenovia P.

Yelp
The food used to be delicious. The service has always been terrible and the restaurant has looked run down and dirty for years . The past few years the food has tasted horrible no seasoning/flavor . I had my husband order oxtail a few months back and he had to throw it away because it was nasty . They need to change chefs . The people saying the food is good need to take a trip to Jamaica.

Laura O.

Yelp
Absolutely cannot stop thinking about Jamaica a house since I went! Why are these type of spots only in north Miami?! We were about to get fast food at 3am after a night out but I was extra hungry and suggested to see what sit down spots are open nearby and Jesus brought me straight here. At 3Am on a Saturday it was PACKED! The parking lot was active and bustling but after 20 minutes, we got to order and everything was really quick after that. Everything sounded amazing but because jerk chicken is the most universal Jamaican food, I usually order it first to test a spot out. Had to get a side of the spicy shrimp that has its whole body on which was kind of annoying with the red sauce but delicious non the less. I got the jerk chicken with rice and peas and plantains with extra Gravy. The chicken was spicy and flavorful and it was a huge portion for only $16 for a Large. The rice and peas were soft and with the gravy it had pieces of oxtail, white peas it was just perfection. Been dying to come back and try the curry chicken and oxtail stew!

Tiauna T.

Yelp
All the food I had in Miami was good but THIS PLACE left a lasting impression on my heart. From first bite I was in love. The brown stew chicken was cooked and seasoned to perfection. So good that it made me instantly happy. You know the food is good when you get all warm and tingly inside and forget all the bad things that ever happened to you. My friend had oxtails. NEVER had oxtails so good I my lifeeeeee. I don't even order them but I will when I come back!! The patty shop next door. You gotta try everything there but especially the beef and cheese patty. Omggggg! I never experienced any shop do that before and I'll never forget it.

Ashley C.

Yelp
We stumbled upon this restaurant after a late night out. Take-Out & indoor seating available. The service was quick. We had to send back chicken that wasn't cooked completely. Our issue was resolved swiftly. Pleasant meal otherwise.

Valerie S.

Yelp
For the most part the Food is always fresh and consistent. I order on UberEats, the jerk chicken or curry goat are my faves. My only recommendation is not ordering too close to their closing time because you won't get the best pieces of meat. Other than that their food will leave you full and satisfied.

Jasmine J.

Yelp
The fat on the oxtails is not trimmed off and it's mostly fat and it don't seem to be that clean. It's the inconsistency. It seems like for the past year it's been a hit or miss. The rice is ok but I'm not happy with the oxtails.

Saunnie B.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I thought my dad made the best oxtails around. Sorry Dad, Jamaica House has you beat! From Jerk Chicken, Curry Chicken to the dumplings, fresh juices including soursop! Look no further once you eat here you'll feel right at home. I will say the decor is in need of updating (-1 star for that) but beyond that the hospitality and food is really good. You want extra oxtail gravy on your rice and peas, no worries. You want a food container bursting with food for later, they've got it! And to top it off they are open 24 hours for those late night cravings or post clubbing meals!

Maor R.

Yelp
Cheap food, good portions, and very, very tasty. Loved the Brown Stew chicken and Jerk Chicken. The flavor was deep, rich, spicy and delicious. My friend loved his Oxtail. I just wish they'd offer an organic chicken option, even if they wanted to charge me more. More I learn about meat industry, the more I want "organic" options where I eat. Mac & Cheese was just regular, standard boxed stuff. Could be more cheesy or perhaps more creative but it hit the spot once smothered in Brown Stew sauce. I'll def be back for more Jerk and Brown Stew and highly recommend. Its also great that they deliver late night through Uber Eats.

Kim P.

Yelp
I ordered pineapple wings and mac & cheese and salty fish fritters. And they sent me jerk chicken and rice, two fruit juices and extra fried dumpling instead of calling me and letting me know they don't have what I ordered. Then when I called up there, Brittany says to me " Just bring the food to the store for a refund, because she didn't feel like dealing with this over the phone and then hung up.

Marie F.

Yelp
When looking for good Jamaican food I'll always say Broward venues beat out Miami. But if you're in Miami this is the place to go. You must try the red snapper. It's feels like someone dived into the ocean, caught a fish, walked over cool sand, and threw it straight into an open fire. The fried fish, steamed fish, fried dumplings, and cabbage are all amazing. Friday's is you can make it in for the Seafood soup your soul will be happy. But don't be surprised if they run out quickly. The rice was mostly amazing but a few times dry and a few times it felt like there must be a newbie in the kitchen that was scared to use salt. For both occurrences I was thankful for the sauce from the fish. When ordering anything besides the fish - start with a small order. The small size will give you enough for a meal and a snack.

Howard W.

Yelp
First and foremost I want to say big up to the staff of this restaurant. Me and my wife came down to Miami for the weekend and visited the restaurant food and the soup was amazing but only issue I have is that there was too much gravy on the food so as much as the food was good it was hard to enjoy it I would suggest asking the customer if they need gravy and how much to put but other than that u guys deserve 5 stars but because of the heavy gravy on the plates I'm gonna have to give u guys 4 stars but other than that great job on customer service and overall services thanks. Don't forget to ask how much gravy do u want .

Nicci A.

Yelp
8/18/2021 - JHR we tried because we're looking for Great Caribbean food. This is not it. FAR from it. I was told to try it from a friend. I'm down in Miami from Boston and I'm looking for the best restaurants I can find of all cultures. I believe the problem my fiend has, is she like others have never eating good Jamaican food. So they don't know what to compare it too. They cook their food like they take care of their property. They don't care. The store front isn't appealing. You walk in to this filthy ordering area. Has never been painted. The floors are disgusting. The counter is a mess. If they don't care about what their guests see, imagine the kitchen in back that you can't see. They don't follow Covid guidelines. And I'm positive that if the food inspector made a visit, he would shut them down. Unless they paid him off. I ordered the Oxtail dinner. The rice was regular. The cabbage wasn't good and the Oxtail was even worse. The gravy/sauce I couldn't make sense of. T ordered the BBQ dinner. He said the chicken was okay. Okay?? It's opened 24 hours. Depending on your appetite can you have two meals from it. Would I eat there again? NO NO NO WAY!

Nightlife G.

Yelp
Same old trash. Jamaican service has to be the worst in the entire world. I have no issue saying the food is great. But I've only had it once. They want new customers and you'll never have it again. 7 times I've tried to order from here, I have never EVER received my food (besides the first time). The lady in the phone will say "it didn't work" and ask you to redo it after 3 hours of waiting. Go in with both eyes open.

Domonique L.

Yelp
Best ever in MiamiBrown Stew Chicken oxtails and coconut shrimp was amazing I hv never had anything better

Lisa G.

Yelp
Tried to give this place a second chance. But Some places just don't need a second chance. This has been the worst Jamaican restaurant experience a second time. I ordered CALLALO with fried dumpling, The CALLALO was cold, Had no taste and was not seasoned at all. The cost of this plate was $10. Even though the people in the restaurant was extremely nice the quality of food and Presentation was very poor. It seems they may need to retake their food handling certification. unfortunately I will not be visiting this restaurant which is literally right down the street from where I live and I will not be recommending anyone to this restaurant.

Lee P.

Yelp
Rude woman working. Do not waste your money. I waited so long to have some authentic Jamaican food. It's quite upsetting and ridiculous. Wow. So I tried to come to my vehicle and just call in my order -- same thing. I don't know what gives. A common decency and respect is not found here.

T W.

Yelp
I ordered curry conch on Uber eats. When it arrived it was oxtail. I'm on my lunch break and don't have time to reorder and I don't eat red meat. I'm very disappointed, this is not the first time I've had issues with this restaurant. The food is good but it would be nice if they could get the orders right.

Shamuy M.

Yelp
very inconsistence. one day they give you your moneys worth the next day they short you what your due. Order a pound of chicken and i was shocked what I receive. going to che tally for jerk going forward

Night Ryder I.

Yelp
A few month ago, I reaped the benefits of my supervisor's Keto diet when she gave me the fried dumplings from her take out order and I'm hooked. I'd never had the sweet variety of dumplings sold at JH. Another coworker culturally enlightened me they are sugar dumplings. Well sugar, they are delicious and the reason for my 4 Star rating. Fast forward to last Friday, I got to sample JH's ackee and saltfish. It was okay--very, very oily, salty with a bit of a spicy kick--maybe from all the black pepper. Drained of the excess oil and topped on slices of the dumplings, the pillowy soft dumpling insides blanketed tablespoons of the ackee and saltfish and er'ting was irie, mon! Thanks again boss! If I'm in Miami, I would definitely stop in and buy some sugar dumplings.

Chenece B.

Yelp
This place is open 24/7 you can't beat that!!!! I love coming here after a fun night out and having g a full meal at whatever time in the morning. Food is great. Only thing is staff needs to be a little bit more friendly. And sometimes my plate comes with steamed cabbage and sometimes it doesn't not sure why???? But does it come with the meal or no? Food is definitely good and there fresh drinks are good too!

Mo A.

Yelp
I ordered Stew Beef not Stew Potatoes! It was like 4 pieces of meat in my plate the rest potatoes. Very disappointed because the food is really good but this the second time they played like this; won't be going back.

Aja R.

Yelp
LOVE THAT THEYRE 24 HOURS!! Drinks are good. Bartender was pretty and nice. We came too late to get to try their sides. Jerk chicken was good. My rice also had a lot of chicken bones in it. Couldn't really enjoy my beans & rice. We came on a Friday night around 1am and the line was super long but it went by pretty quick. Overall, place is good.

Nesha L.

Yelp
I honestly wish I could give them zero stars... I found a worm, yes you read it right a WORM, in my oxtails. When I called the restaurant to advise them of my findings the lady said " worms are normal in oxtails", like NORMAL who eats worms on a normal day not me. Then proceed to ask if I wanted something else..., ummm no I do not... please don't eat here unless worms on your food is your definition of a delicious meal

Christa C.

Yelp
Great curry goat and they are open 24/7! Really good for post party munchies. Portion sizes are reasonable too.

Ashi M.

Yelp
Great oxtails and great soup available anytime especially late at night.only place you can get soup after 6pm without getting the bottom of the pot...

Fabian J.

Yelp
I bought fried chicken with rice and beans. The rice was great but the chicken was so hard and dry I don't know why they would even think about serving it to someone. Seemed like the chicken was sitting all day and was just warmed up. Really terrible Jamaica house that's not how Jamaicans serve food and yes I'm Jamaican so I know what to expect.

Tasjuaii M.

Yelp
Great Jamaican food! One of the best meals we had in Miami. Sometimes you have to go off the beaten path to get the really good food and this is certainly a must do in Miami! If you want to dine in, you choose your table and ring a bell for service. I was fine with that. I believe they are open 24 hrs & that's a plus for the late nighters who want some good food. I felt like we waited for a while for our food, however, good things take time. The portions were huge and the food was sooo good. I wanted to order more to stuff in my suitcase and take home.

Dexter A.

Yelp
Food is good but the young kid at the front taking orders needs help and training in Restaurant hospitality

Danielle S.

Yelp
The food is incredible! I've been several times ever since the first bite. But.... Donnette is the reason for a 5 star! This restaurant is close to 1 hour away from my house. The last time my sisters and I bought food for some crazy reason we accidentally left our dinner!!! I made it all the way home . I called the restaurant and explained and long story short, Donnette made sure we could come back to get our dinner! Shes so nice and sweet! It was above and beyond for customer service! They didn't have to but Donnette I wanted to say thank you so much! My sisters and I will see you next time

C C.

Yelp
The most disgusting Jamaican food I've ever had in my life! EVERYTHING IS NASTY! Even the carrot juice is RANCID! What the fuck is wrong with you people at this restaurant? Why would you ever think it's ok to serve this bullshit to someone? I'm reporting you to the health department. I'm sure to have diarrhea all night long you assholes. Never again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!! Even the boiled dumplings were disgusting. Like how do you mess up something so simple???? How? The cabbage is dry. The rice and peas is clearly a week old. The cow foot has absolutely no seasoning. I wish I could come there and throw the food on the cook. Fire everyone and shut this shit hole down!!!!
