At Jamaica Mi Hungry, this casual eatery specializes in Jamaican classics like jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, and hearty rice and beans—perfect for a flavor-packed meal on the go.
"An award-winning Jamaican restaurant in the neighborhood. The tender jerk chicken, coconut shrimp, and jerk tofu are highlights, and each plate comes with a choice of sides like curry vegetable stew, dill slaw, plantains, and more." - Erika Adams
"Craving Caribbean flavors? Hop on the Orange Line and head to Jackson Square. Jamaica Mi Hungry offers a wide variety of richly-flavored curries, ribs, and jerk-style cuisine. Patrons can choose an entree and pair it with two side dishes, including plantains and rice and beans. The portions are large and affordable, and the generous seasoning never disappoints." - Maya Homan
"This Jamaican food truck-turned-permanent restaurant deserves every accolade it has scooped up in its years of serving jerk chicken, sweet plantains, and tender oxtail to the masses. Located steps away from the Jackson Square stop on the Orange Line, Jamaica Mi Hungry is a popular spot for plates piled high with expertly seasoned meats, seafood, and sides like creamy mac and cheese and curried vegetable stew. And of course, no order is complete without adding a beef patty or three on the side." - Erika Adams, Terrence Doyle
"Honorable mention for jerk chicken and beans and rice." - Rachel Leah Blumenthal
"Jamaica Plain is not typically a reasonable pickup or delivery destination for me, living at least a half hour away in Somerville, but I decided to spend my birthday wandering the Arboretum and then meeting friends who live in JP for a socially distanced picnic (not in the Arboretum — no food allowed!) It was the perfect time to finally try Jamaica Mi Hungry, which everyone’s been raving about forever. My only disappointment is that I don’t live closer (well, there’s a pop-up in Allston now, at least). Many talk about the jerk chicken, but I fell hard for the coconut shrimp with sides of mac and cheese and plantains. This was one of my absolute favorite takeout meals of 2020. —RLB Currently offering takeout and delivery in Jamaica Plain; plus, the restaurant’s food truck is parked at 182 Western Ave. in Allston for lunch takeout. Order: Official Website (for catering orders) / DoorDash (from Jamaica Plain location)" - Rachel Leah Blumenthal, Terrence Doyle
