Mason’s Famous Brings Warm, Buttery Lobster Rolls to Arlington Next Year - Eater DC

"Jamerica is unleashing Jamaican jerk chicken and goat curry in the Woodbridge neighborhood (2125 Rhode Island Avenue NE). The menu is still being finalized and the bar isn’t serving yet, but “soft” opening hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m." - Stephanie Carter

Lovely authentic Jamaican restaurant with reasonable prices for full balanced meals. Red Snapper and Oxtail are a rare treat in DC and you can get both here. The owner is super welcoming and the chef can probably make anything you want! The ambiance makes you feel like you are sitting in an island vacation. Order ahead for pickup or be prepared to hang out a while for made-to-order restaurant meals!

I had the jerk chicken pasta. The pasta sauce was honestly the only good thing. The penne noodles were slightly overcooked. The chicken tasted like processed chicken which I didn’t like however it was seasoned well.

Lunch special Curry chicken only had two pieces. Somewhat disappointing, but tasty. Pineapple ginger drink was really good. Lunch special with drink and coco bread $21.

Wow! The oxtail surpassed my expectations. Great flavor with a slight spice. I will definitely be back.

The food would get 5 stars but not the service. We came in, waited to be seated. Asked for a beer to start but it took a while to come out, as long as it took the food to come out. We were given our food to go style but we were seated to eat down and had previously expressed that. Also waited for eating utensils and condiments. The curry chicken and rice and peas were AMAZING, the cabbage was a little bland, looked like white picked onions but it was good, almost like steamed cabbage alone. The staff was friendly but the service to get things we needed was very slow and there weren't many other customers.

Customer service in regards to communication is great, however... I ordered a Jerk Chicken lunch special, I didn't look in di container before I left but if I had I would have canceled di bloodclaat order. Twas more bone den anyting. Literally 2 ½ bites of chicken... di rice & peas waa great. Di beef patty felt & tasted old which made no sense being that it waa 11am in di mawning! And di cabbage was cold & very sweet. I left a tip before even knowing dis was what to expect.

I live in the area and waited for this place to open. I finally came in mainly because I am a recent graduate in Hospitality and wanted to offer my services as operations Manager.. but I ordered the jerk chicken and it was terrible , it was hard and dry with barely any sauce cabbage was bland and rice and peas soggy.. now being in the business I hate to give this review, but new owners should know what people are saying. The interior was sad, beautiful colors but loaded with junk . The bar area was not set up and owner and another person working on bar area 🙄 the layout is beautiful but owners really needs to go in on a Operations Manager that can bring the spot to life.. starting with a new chef. I'm so sorry but just being honest 😔

Lunch special Price is excellent! But the jerk chicken I received was so overcooked and hard like beef jerky. This was definitely not cooked fresh today. This place is in my neighborhood and was hoping it would be good.

Yelp
Let me start by saying I'm not the best person to judge the authenticity of Jamaican food, simply because I mostly eat it as a treat vs it being a common staple in my household culturally. For someone who is actually Jamaican this could be top notch; however, for myself, I'm underwhelmed. I've eaten here three times, mostly because I was in the hair salon next door and trying to pick the lessor of all of the carb ridden evils on the block. The consistency just isn't there....I will say this, once I had some oxtails from here that were punch your 90 year old grandma in the face good! However, there was also a time when they weren't. I've also tried the eschovitch and while it wasn't horrible it just lacked the flavor that I've come to know and love with that dish. Would I try this place again? I'm sure I will when I'm at the salon again in the future because I really want it to be successful. The neighborhood needs it. The customer service is good. The employees are willing to answer questions or even bring the food next door with out you asking. On the to BLUF: Parking: Paid parking on the Main Street Free parking on side streets. Parking can be a pain, because it's a relatively busy area. Price: I'd say this food is a bit pricey but I've found that to be common for Jamaican food and the portion sizes are large and easily shareable for 2. Dine in option: YES, easily feels like you've entered a small Jamaican spot on an island. Alcohol: Alcohol is served. Full Bar Available Noise Level: Normal

Yelp
Stopped by here after a music lesson nearby. Had a Red Stripe, chicken patty, beef patty, and jerk wings. All was delicious, especially the homemae jerk wing sauce. The restaurant has a welcoming, laid-back atmosphere and we enjoyed the music videos playing on the TV. The owner and chef were very nice. We'll be back!

Yelp
I wanted to make this my "go to" spot. I have a hair appointment right next door and had hoped to make it a regular stop. But I dropped in, placed an order, and the price changed after I ordered. I was pointed to the faint footer on the menu that prices are subject to change. I got a 20% increase on my order. And, I was not that delighted with my food. Oh well. I'll keep looking.

Yelp
The oxtails were fatty and not seasoned correctly, the rice was soggy and mediocre and cabbage was not worth even eating. Trashed it.

Yelp
Food was absolute trash. Rice was cold and crunchy. Gave me all chicken with bones and gristle not much meat. Brown stew chicken had no flavor and the worst part I waited 40 minutes for food that was already ready on the line. Terrible food. Terrible service

Yelp
Beef Pattie's out of this world. Oxtails on another planet. Affordable too. This joint became my go to place for oxtails. Authentic Jamaican music playing in the background. My tummy and my soul are very happy.

Yelp
These people are so unprofessional. They have been closed Saturday, Sunday, and Monday. SMH. They clearly don't care about their customers.

Yelp
Great spot food was great the first two times i had it. Then the other times I had visited the place they was closed when then sign and the website said they was open. I'm working on busy schedule and i take lunch breaks to why aren't you open is my main question!!! Then you come to chill and get some drinks and food but they take forever

Yelp
The food is good. The price is right and the owner is nice. I'm a fan of the stew chicken.

Yelp
Menu has a nice selection of food, which is authentically Jamaican, and delicious. Has the feel of a quaint island mom and pop neighborhood restaurant. Most people seem to make carryout orders, though seating at the bar and in booths along the wall are available. Highly recommend the curry chicken with rice & peas with cabbage.
