James Madison High School

This school is absolutely horrible!!point blank period. It's a disgrace to Houston. 90% of the kids have no home training. You can't go 5 seconds without hearing someone cursing another individual out. The majority of the girls here are messy and have no self respect. The only way to avoid drama is to avoid everyone! and everyone is so rude! I've only met 4 or 5 friendly-ish people out of the whole school. I've only been going here for 7 months. but I was ready to leave at my 2 week mark. And the teachers aren't that welcoming either :/ It's a shame

It was an okay school. It was just in a bad environment. It was the schooling system. I think the schooling system in the United States is flawed. I wanted Art. It is packed in Art. I want fashion marketing. I get choir. The students does not want to learn when that subject is suffocated down their throats. The teachers, they've given up. There's not enough funding because the students didn't do well on some tests. Therefore, no new supplies or very limited supplies. Such as textbooks, desks and chairs, and other basic things. How can the students learn in this kind of environment? They start to act up. The gangs, the stabbing, and other dangerous or inappropriate behaviors. It has became a place to chill, and eat lunch, and hang with the homies, and harass staffs and other students. And all the damn tests. SOMETHING HAS TO CHANGE. I will not let this vicious cycle continues. I know I am not alone on this. Why aren't there any cool clubs and electives? No funding? No teacher? Do the students even want to join? It's such a small and empty feeling I get when I speak of Madison. What about the restrooms? The students skip and take all the time on earth looking at themselves in the mirror like other people actually care how they look. When other students has to really use the restroom, the teacher won't allow them because of their own experience. The bus. The bus is packed. Students riding to their peep's house like they own the bus. There is no place to sit or even air conditioning. The bus drivers just want to see us run after them like dogs. They don't care. The students don't care. The teachers and staffs may care, but there's nothing they can do. Is it all linked down to money? Or is it the eviorment? Who taught them that it's okay to be disrespectful? I couldn't learn there. I was distracted by all the small things. It was small, but it was depressing. I hope Madison High School will change for the better next time I visit.

My experience of this school is some what challenging but, we are humans and we go through trials and tribulations all you have to do is stay focus and stay determine. This school is a great school and I'm proud to graduate from James Madison High School

I have reached out to the teachers because I noticed his grades started falling. I called on a Tuesday and was asked to call back on Wednesday and still nothing. I took off that same week on Thursday and went to the school and received a call back from only 1 teacher. So I guess I'll be blowing up the school's phone trying to reach the teachers. This is unacceptable.

The High School believes in safety, but couldn't protect themselves, I mean most kids at Madison get shot almost every week. This I don't trust noone with my safety.

Great school and great staff. There will be challenges/problems at EVERY school...as will life in general. But it's your ATTITUDE that determines your ALTITUDE in life!!!

My mom went to school here back in 1982 she said it was a great school well I guess the school went down hill after the years use to be good back then

MANN, U LYING NO BODY IS RACIST AT SCHOOL BUT I CAN SAY WE GET SOME PROBLEM WITH SOME OF THE STUDENTS.

My son had went to school to take a test and discuss about his summer school plans with the counselor about his surgery situation but the teacher couldn't let him in cause my son was wearing simple short. My son kept on telling them that he NEEDS to wear short cause his preparing to take surgery for his right knee. But the teacher was being too stubborn and kicked him out, just because of his clothes THAT HE NEEEDS TO WEAR for surgery. Now my son can't attend summer school and his starr test that he need to take to graduate. Don't recommend this school for there foolish and stubbornness staff and there idiotic dress code that they have for shorts.

is most definitely ghetto and has one of the lowest scores in Texas but the school itself provides clubs/ classes that no prher school offers especially their cosmetology class as it is the best one from HISD and also the welding which has won many prices from the rodeo
