"Designed by the renowned architecture firm, Marmol Radziner, the minimalistic, sophisticated aesthetic of the Malibu flagship reflects the brand's philosophy; a perfect marriage of low-maintenance and quality. The large, pivoting doors fuse the interior and exterior, creating an indoor/outdoor atmosphere that makes the most of the idyllic setting (clients are welcome to make good use of the ping pong table on the deck). You may go in looking for clothes, but don’t be surprised to find yourself lounging on the furniture instead."

The security guard asked me to get my feet off the furniture and my foot wasn’t even touching anything. Store is always empty. Security must be bored.

Yelp
Unbelievable. I'm a longtime customer of James Perse and have faithfully trekked through the thread$ for year$ because ultimately it's super comfy clothing. Popped in today (Thursday June 15 around 2:30 pm) (yes that is a huge tip to manager to single out your employee) to buy my husband some Father's Day stuff and ... WOW. I'm still trying to figure out what happened. I asked the employee whom I had the misfortune of later purchasing my items from if there were some T-shirts that weren't V-neck, and he led me to a sliding door that he opened to reveal shelves of different colored T's. He then inexplicably shut the door and told me he could find a size for me. I was baffled but rolled with it, opened the door and started searching for colors/sizes I thought would work for my husband. The employee shut the door again and I told him I wasn't finished with my selection. I slid the door open yet again; he literally CLOSED it a third time!! It was then I started wondering if James Perse hired a fucking psychopath. I asked him why he kept closing the door, it makes no sense, how can I pick the color my husband might like IF I CAN'T SEE THE MERCHANDISE??? His answer was a flat stare that I'd like to believe had a little guilt mixed in but who's to say, he might have been really enjoying himself. Seriously. This is over the top crazy behavior. I know from all the years I've shopped at this location, the employees loathe refolding the clothes we customers unfold to look at and contemplate buying. This is because every piece of clothing is impeccably folded and it must get old needing to be so precise each time someone decides not to purchase an item and leaves it crumpled on the counter. But this is your job! You ring up sales, you fold clothes, you stock inventory and you get your paycheck. If this is too much go to McDonald's and apply for a job, you won't have to fold the fries and maybe everyone will be happier in the end. Management: don't let this happen again-- to me or ANYONE. Every time I go into this location I'm throwing down lots of $$$$ so I think this earns me the opportunity to unfold the clothes and even LOOK at them to see what I want to buy without the door being shut on me every 38 seconds. Unacceptable.

Yelp
Beautiful store that carries a decent amount of James Perse clothing and accessories. When I was last here, they had an especially large amount of their loungewear I was searching for (or maybe they just had everything I was looking for in stock). While most are attracted to the ping pong table and comfortable modern furniture outside, eventually they'll wander in to discover this place carries clothing for men and women. Parking in this area is easy and the service at this location has been great. Can't complain-for once.

Yelp
Went shopping here.. love the t shirts.. The issue is that I purchased a lot of things for my VERY PICKY son.. Well, he didn't like them.. Went to return it, only to be told my only option is a store credit. Hmm, wouldn't that have been nice to know prior to spending almost $3000! I know that my son is picky, so I would have brought him there with me if I had known the return policy. I always buy a lot and then return it later if it doesn't fit. ALWAYS!! I never try anything on... EVER! . This return policy is absolutely ludicrous, and is a stone age mentality! Once I spend this ridiculous store credit, I won't return!

Yelp
Aspirational stuff for me, as clingy James Perse fabric makes even a small gut look like a food baby. But, no matter, I snapped up some sweatpants and a hoodie from the Mammoth line. Beautiful store with lounge chairs, a ping pong table and your choice of bottled water or lemonade is served! The sales staff is a hit -- grabbing sizes and looking good. Free valet outside, so no worries if his Lambo is blocking your Lambo. They'll move it.

Yelp
Lovely located, prime customer service, and great beachy gear. I will be returning for one of those beach cruisers soon... Really sets the tone for a modern take on classic Malibu.

Yelp
Gorgeous store design layout and location, with an incredibly friendly and helpful staff. Especially Sarah Szot. Loved her energy. Kind manner and comfortable conversation. I had good intentions of only purchasing a long cotton skirt. Yet all thanks to Sarah I ended up with many additional clothing items based on suggestions/recommendations, which in turn all worked out. Lucky me. Overall quality of product is a excellent. Good Cotton. Thin or think...they are soft and nice to wear. Typical Cali wearables. It is expensive but it is worth it as long as you are careful, while washing. Also, oddly usually a good amount of parking available, which is nice and convenient.

Fun ping pong table right out front of the store! :) Outdoor seating area too.

Yelp
i love the layout of this store and the nice lounge chairs but the salespeople act so snobby it just detracts from the whole vibe of the place. I would be more than happy to relax and shop there if it weren't for them. my kids didn't seem welcome there either - though there were plenty of people just lounging around not making purchases. This attitude isn't necessary. I don't ever want to go in there again.

Yelp
So let's see.....I come in to this shop for the first time and here's two preppie-yuppie models (one of each sex) offering me a bottle of water or an Arnold Palmer? Why, thank you. I will gladly take the Palmer. And a pretty nice drink it is, indeed. Not a full pour but in a hard plastic glass with a lemon and a salted rim. Almost like a Margarita without the booze. Oh, wait. This isn't a bar? It's a clothing/bedding store? Oh, no wonder the drink was free. Obviously, it's a come-on to get you inside and shop. They even have an area for the kids with an iMac so you can kill time hitting up websites and the like. Nice for guys while the gals go looking for dresses. As for the clothes themselves, definitely the opposite of Kitson across the Yard. Yery Yuppie and nice for the golf course and country club and that might be great for my folks (who live in a Country Club in South Florida) but not me. Still, they get major points for marketing and promotion and that's the four stars I'll give them here.

Yelp
The best place to play ping pong in Malibu, grab a coffee and relax on one of the lounge chairs and pretend that your life consists entirely of playing ping pong, drinking coffee and lounging in beautiful places. If you wear dark glasses and a ball cap, the paparazzi will photograph you in the parking lot (they are not allowed in the shopping area proper) and they will not know who you are, but they will think you are somebody. Because everybody is somebody in Malibu. And the clothes? They are what I like- casual, well made, clean lines, comfortable, with a beach vibe- like you would wear if your life consisted of playing ping pong, drinking coffee and lounging. A little expensive. And the store has a good vibe, too. Check out James Perse's interior design work, too. He redid a house in Malibu it is a great example of understated, casual design- like the clothes.

Yelp
I'm not the most patient shopper. I like to get in and get out. But the James Perse in Malibu changes all of that. They have incredibly comfortable lounge chairs outside and a ping pong table that I've enjoyed more than a few games on. They have computers inside if you get bored while your girlfriend is trying on clothes and they have the awesome comfortable and simple clothes that become my everyday staples. They even offer you beverages while you shop. What's not to love?

Yelp
James Perse is my go to everyday clothing store. I first walking into the store in the summer of 2011 and realised that I finally found a store that makes clothes for my style. The staff is attentive and knowledgeable. My favourites are the cords and the Clear T-shirts. Also I've had to replace 3 of their Malibu Beach Name Ts because the are "borrowed" by my friends and never returned. I guess that's a great review from Friends! If they are out of a size or colour I can always find something online. And the greatest secret is their sample sale. Amazing prices. So if you're looking for a great shopping experience this is the place.

Yelp
This new store is in the new Lumberyard and it is visually amazing! From the black wood and inviting patio with lounge chairs, to the huge glass doors that open wide this store makes me want to live there. The furniture is for sale...great clothing, as usual, sales people were groovy cool!

Yelp
First of all, I can't afford their clothes but since I was with my sister who can definitely afford it, I had the opportunity to peruse and window shop with my sis. She absolutely loves this clothing line. Simple, fabric is crazy soft...hella expensive-sigh. Anyway, Tiffany immediately acknowledged us when we walked in the store which is important to my sister especially when she is shopping- definitely encourages her to spend more...lol. Tiffany even helped me find my size when my sister told me to pick up a few things. (Yay)

Yelp
I am from Europe and I stayed in Malibu for few days, visiting also James Perse, great fancy shop, actually mind-blowing one. Smart concept and well trained personnel convince you to buy their clothes, 100% made in USA, best materials available etc... I went for it and left there 500$ for vintage cotton hoodie, paint splatter classic sweatpants and three t-shirts. And here the good story ends. Their clothes are obviously made only for looking not for wearing. I can wear pants only for a hour or so, and if I sit in a car or on a chair I look like I am wearing shapeless bag not 150$ top shit designer pants. Really embarasing. It's the same with the hoodie. I wrote my complaint on their official website and I didn't even get an answer. My advice: buy A&F

Yelp
