We were seeing a play at the La Jolla Playhouse and because the restaurant is right across the way we decided to eat dinner there before the play. It's a great space with lots of natural light and nice decor.
Our waitress was friendly and attentive; however, the food was disappointing. For an appetizer, we shared a Rainbow Roll, which had slightly brown avocado and scant slices of fish. My $47 Sea Bass entrée arrived with cold, undercooked vegetables. After raising the issue, the waitress returned with another plate of vegetables that seemed hastily microwaved. The food's presentation resembled that of a hotel banquet. On a positive note, my partner enjoyed his Spicy Seafood Salad, enhanced by the chef with additional seafood—a thoughtful gesture. The evening concluded with dessert, but the busboy delivered it without any utensils. Upon requesting spoons, he carelessly tossed them onto the table in front of us.
It was a disappointing evening, and we won't eat at this restaurant again.
