The food is awesome, they have something for everybody to eat whether you like traditional food, seafood or even vegetarian. The staff is always lovely when I go there and they have creative meals on the menu as well. The Fat Bwoy Patties are a must try!!

Most Delicious Jamaican food in the Red Hook area. This spot is a little hidden in the streets of red hook but don’t let that deter you from a visit. The curry chicken roti and oxtail don’t miss a beat in terms of Jamaican flavor and spice! They offer healthier options as well as some options like the stew cabbage with less sodium. The owner is such a kind soul as well and you have to try her brand Happy Juice! Her sorrel is impeccably delicious and has a little fizz to it that’s divine!

really happy to have a local Jamaican/Caribbean spot nearby. Ordered for pick up which was ready in 15min and the guy behind the counter was the nicest fellow when we picked up our food. We got two medium sized dinners for 30 bucks. While I’ve had more flavorful goat and the Mac and cheese was a little meh, the jerk chicken, mixed greens, and rice and peas were solid. The quantity made us fine with the quality, we’ll be ordering from here again when our next craving hits. Only regret was they forgot to include our side of fried plantain 🥲

Can't say enough of this small Jamaican and Caribbean bistro. The owner set a couple tables for us to eat outside and made me this tasty snapper with coconut reduction, white rice, collards and kale. She also supports the community by getting up early every morning to make 185 meals for a food Bank, yet does not get paid quickly which is hard for cash flow. RESPECT in keeping the community sound

I ordered the Rasta pasta, not sure what this is I got delievered. It taste like bbq sauce on pasta and the salmon was heavily under seasoned. I also got a order if jerk chicken which was burnt and also tasted like bbq chicken.

Had the stew snapper with rice and peas.... it was delicious. The atmosphere could use some more life. However, if you just in need of good food, i would recommend.

As a Jamaican born citizen I would think I know Great Jamaican food lol. Jam'it definitely did not disappoint. Upon arrival the restaurant was smelling great and their was lots of indoor seating . There were a few customers there getting lunch as they have a great lunch special (8.95). The wonderful woman at the cashier , who I believe to be the owner assisted me . I grabbed dinner for my husband and I . I ordered a large oxtail , a order of brown stew fish both with rice and peas and plantains and cabbage, along with a large chicken soup . The total was $57. The food was well seasoned and the meat was very tender and delicious . The portions are HUGE. We both enjoyed our food very much . They also serve a variety of dishes even tofu and a selection of patties with a selection of soda's and drinks as well. I will definitely be back soon , and if your ever in the area seeking authentic Jamaican dishes this is the restaurant to go to.

The food is flavorful and the portions are generous. We ordered from them numerous times for our work event and never had an issue. The indivdually packaged meals are clearly labeled. I would love to come visit in person.

New to the area, I'm happy I found this place. Online ordering was easy using Toast via google maps. Food was ready. Great value for medium dinner, jerk chicken was fall off the bone. I'm used to a little more heat but still tasty. Rice and peas and cabbage cooked perfectly. You can choose up to 3 sides, and I opted for plantains. The cherry on top, jerk chicken was topped with gravy. There's patties for sale too, will definitely try that next time. Had plenty left over for later that day.

Took forever to get my food! They said 10 mins okay fine. I was there for 30 mins. The meat was tough and unflavored. The potato salad was decent though. I was expecting more flavor and take out timing. I'll probably try it again since it's the only Jamaican place in the area.

I was actually in search of a corner store when I saw a Jamaica flag flying in the wind in front of Jam'It Bistro. I said that has to be a Jamaican restaurant let me try them out. Restaurant is small and clean on the inside. Menu is clear , descriptive and includes prices. Menu is on the wall above the counter. I decided to go with a medium size oxtail dinner. According to the menu it comes with rice and peas, cabbage and plantains. When the staff member was plating my food he asked if I wanted greens or cabbage I thought that was a nice touch since there are some folks out there who don't like cabbage. But greens is more soul food than Caribbean to me so I stuck with cabbage. A lot of folks sell oxtails but not a lot can make it. Jam'It Bistro delivered. The oxtails were perfectly seasoned, tender and falling off the bone. The rice was flavorful and the cabbage was so good. I didn't get the plantains which was disappointing. I'm not sure if they ran out cause the staff didn't say anything. But the food I did have was super tasty. The medium oxtail dinner was about $18. Try them out if you're in the area.

I love this place. Local spot by my job with amazing Jamaican food at really low prices. The ox tail is so good and is my go to. Its served with truly delicious collards, a nice potato salad and Mac and Cheese which is a bit dry but if it gets some of that ox tail gravy its great. I am a big Ox Tail fan and have had it in many different styles but for my money the Jamaicans have mastered it. Have also had the jerk chicken which is also pretty good and my dear departed co-worker would eat it 2x a week. The Jamaican patties are great as well. The owner is a lovely Jamaican lady and you can tell customer service is important to her as one time i ordered the coconut cake and she called to let me know it was sold out and if it was ok to substitute red velvet. It was but i really need to get my paws on that coconut cake. Red Hook has so many great places to eat and this little Jamaican spot needs to be added to that list.

I tell you we had a big order for our production staff down the block, and this spot delivered! Everything was amazing and no one left a lick of food left. I was also thoroughly entertained because they had state property playing on the tv while I waited. If you're in the area, definitely try them out. You won't be disappointed

Been here several times and ALWAYS had great food and warm service. Stopped in today a bit under the weather and the chicken soup was amazing. A little of their delicious pepppa sauce did my head cold right! Jerk chicken on hold for later. Solid spot.

I live half a block away, and would come here several times a week if I didn't work late hours. As it stands, I can manage to go here on a friday, maybe. I wish I could go more often. They do close early, but I don't blame them; this neighborhood is tough. This is the best Jamaican food I've had. Various types of chicken (haven't tried the fish or oxtails yet) are perfect, the greens are spectacularly seasoned, and the mac n cheese is baked to perfection with some kind of special secret spices going on. Oh, and the potato salad is literally some of the best I've ever eaten, the rice n' peas with gravy is a spiritual experience. Prices are reasonable.

This place is a best-kept secret. I ordered a huge catered order for a poker night to feed a dozen (hungry!) people on fairly short notice, and Dawn and the team not only came through with plenty of time to spare... but had people asking that I order from the same place again. The curried goat in particular was bananas! Cannot recommend it highly enough.

I want to give you guys a better review here than I gave on GrubHub. Sorry about that, by the way, but, using GrubHub, it took 2 hours to get the food to me. If I had known that you guys have to wait for a GrubHub driver to accept the order (And this particular GrubHub driver was alllll the way down in Brooklyn Heights when he accepted the delivery), I'd have just walked over myself since I live right on the other side of the BQE. So, this review should be testament. Even though the food arrived to me cold (room temperature, really), I am still giving you guys 4 stars because the jerk chicken was THAT delicious. Mac and Cheese wasn't AS good as I'd have liked, but, I'll chalk that up to it sitting around in the package for probably 1 1/2 hours while you guys waited for a GrubHub delivery driver to come pick it up. Sad about that, but, again, the food is good. I look forward to calling you guys directly and picking up the food, real soon. Thanks!

We stumbled upon this restaurant on our lunch break and are so glad we did. The owner/ chef is very dedicated to the quality of her food and you can tell in the taste. Her lunch specials are delicious and affordable, I got the goat curry and my coworker got the oxtail (which is not a lunch special but still affordable). Highly recommend if you're in the area or need a reliable catering service!

The owner Dawn is very nice but really needs to lower the prices and offer a real lunch special for $5.00, which is a fair price for lunch in this neighborhood. They don't even have the price of the lunch special on the menu; they just tell you that it is $8.50. A beef patty should not cost $2.18. $2.00 at the most. The people in this neighborhood are very poor and on fixed budgets. When restaurants open around here, they should take that into consideration. As for the food, it's just okay. I hope that the owner take this into consideration before its too late.

I was getting my car fixed nearby and was wandering around the neighborhood looking for something that was open. I happened on the Jam'It Bistro and ordered the chicken soup. Let me tell you, this was one of the tastiest things I have ever eaten. Most chicken soups have these tiny cubes of chicken and you eventually run out on the chicken way before everything else...the chicken in this soup was the size of golf balls, and there was plenty of it! The two ladies who helped me were very, very nice and accommodating when I said I wanted to dine in after they had already packaged my soup to go. I definitely plan to return to try some other dishes, and I would enthusiastically recommend this place.

Oh my!! We happened across this little gem walking around in Brooklyn. Amazing food. I especially recommend the grilled salmon and BBQ chicken! Loveliest folks running the place too!

Great Jamaican food, generous portions and very reasonably priced. Very sweet lady , who I believe is the owner, greeted us and made sure we were taken care of. I am vegetarian and had the tofu coconut curry with rice and peas and greens which was all delicious. Highly recommend!

I grew up eating Jamaican food and this is hands down the best Jamaican restaurant that I've been to in Brooklyn! The food is consistently delicious and made to order -- no food sitting out on a heater waiting for someone to order. I've had the jerk shrimp, curry shrimp roti, jerk salmon, and other items and the food is always fresh, tasty, and plentiful. They sell juices and cake which are also amazing. I've been going here once a week since the pandemic started and I'm always so excited to get my food. The owner is amazing and is dedicated to always providing five star service and food.

YUM! Jamit Bistro is a gem located in Red Hook. I found them luckily through the app TooGoodToGo, and will be returning frequently. Great customer service, food, and great menu options! We had the BBQ chicken, Curry chicken, greens, rice, and plantains!

I ordered from this restaurant this past Friday at 6:27pm for dinner. The delivery went through and showed it would be delivered by 8:04pm. When 8:04pm came, I didn't receive my order or a call saying my delivery was going to be late. I had my son waiting for 2 hours for dinner and nothing arrived. I even called the restaurant after 8:15pm and no answer.

$15 for a plate of Delicious, soft, well-seasoned Ox-Tail, rice&peas, plaintains and greens. Portion was definitely good for two. Lady at the counter was kind and outgoing, I believe she is the magic behind the food! Must Try!!

Eat here all the time. So far every thing I have tried has been good to very good. The oxtail is delicious, the fried chicken was great, loved the stew beef roti, and that bang bang chicken always does the trick. The owner is very good and really cares about her customers and their opinions. Keep up the good work!!

I tried this in March and it wasn't very good. I was so happy to finally see a Caribbean restaurant in the neighborhood. The food lacked flavor. The stew chicken needed to be stewed longer because it was too watery. I asked for extra gravy and it looked like spiI'm not sure why the prices are so high, but for the quality it wasn't worth it. I don't mind paying more because I know I'm not in Flatbush. I'll give them another shot in a few months to a year. Update: I gave this restaurant another chance and I have to say it was a lot better. I ordered the stew chicken again and the gravy was so much better. I am happy there was an improvement. I visited early on and I think they were working out the kinks. I am sure I will go again to try something else.

Very good value for the food you get here, delicious jerk chicken and the service is great as well. Overall a good experience and will be ordering from here again.

Ordered on seamless and it was delicious! They are definitely a bit overpriced plus have a high delivery fee. I would probably order more often if it wasn't so expensive. At least the food is good!

I visited your restaurant 2/12/19 my entire order went in the garbage the rice and peas very salty raised my pressure I rec three oxtail bones no meat for a $15 plate of bland food. To survive in this neighborhood you must do better.i love oxtails but you must give more food for your prices.

I've ordered from here on two different occasions and I can say I enjoyed both meals I've tried. I've had their Oxtail dinner which was amazing, and also the Jerk Chicken Dinner which was outstanding!! The delivery was also super fast both times I've ordered
