Great Places For Live Music and Food in D.C. | Eater DC

"Around since 2001, Vienna, Virginia’s intimate concert venue, bar, and cafe is well known for its indie and up-and-coming acts. Like its Union Stage sibling on the Wharf, Jammin’ Java also serves delicious Jersey-style pies alongside hefty orders of chili and solid desserts like a s’mores lava cake. Cocktails include a lavender Tom Collins and Double Basil built with Basil Hayden." - Travis Mitchell

Loved this little place! Great thin crust pizza. Great wait staff Jennifer took care of us and all her tables around us with Great ease, kindness and care! We will return. The DJ had a great mix of music before the live performance. The sound was great and glad we had reserved seats.

Google
Great venue to see indie artists. Saw Housman perform there with an appreciative, fun crowd. Jammin Java created a beautiful atmosphere for the event and the sound was good. Also, the location is a convenient, straight shot from DC so easy to get to.

Google
The highlights: good parking, easy to find, all you can drink soft drinks after purchasing one, and affordable music concert tickets there. There was a seating area by the entrance to eat and drink but away from concert area. It doesn’t excel in being the best concert venue in that it didn’t have proper air conditioning in concert area on a hot day, limited options to drink at the bar, and seating was a higher fee ticket at the concert area. Bathrooms were satisfactory. The music concert in Jammin Java was an excellent experience regardless - yet there were some obstacles beyond my control and the concert venue’s control due to false accusations allegedly or directly made by people working or performing there AFTER I used genuine cash there to purchase items. In the end, they realized their mistake after finding hardcore proof that they had made a mistake. No apologies were made yet they did acknowledge that their accusations were false after going to the proper authorities or law enforcement to see if my cash was real, since they wouldn’t acknowledge that my cash was real & distributed by my bank to me. The accusers need to learn how to gage real or false currency or not accept cash at all and how to properly address such matters especially if they are in the wrong. Hopefully, they did that. I had to drop an additional star from Jammin Java due to this unfortunate experience. I wanted to give the place a 4 star rating until I was falsely and allegedly accused by people there. I rarely give negative reviews online. Three stars is very generous. No one deserves to be falsely accused if they are in the right at any establishment or concert venue. Luckily the law was on my side and the truth came out quickly.

Google
Great intimate venue to catch shows. Excellent service and a great system to handle delivering food in a tight timeframe. Good clear sound system

Google
One of the best music venues around! Amazing sound, vibes and great food

Google
great small intimate feeling venue. staff were sweet and helpful and hark, the bathrooms were nice and clean! I definitely recommend the Sweet & Spicy Pizza from the menu, was so good! by far the best concert experience I've had ever and I didn't even get vip tickets. closest I've ever been to the bands.

Google
Stage is very small, but friendly staff and relatively good food. Very dirty bathrooms. It was a fun experience listening to the bands, lovely experience over all however.

Google
cool, small, intimate venue. at points, it felt like going to a concert in your living room, which was cool. sound was amazing, and the food and drinks were good too. can be a little awkward if you're sitting at a table with a bunch of strangers, but cool none the less, plus free parking. real small merch table, but we got to meet dave and tim hause after their show! will definitely be back for another show soon

Yelp
Saw Arizona Zervas here. The concert was so much fun, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the staff was polite.

Yelp
How the F$&@ did I land in the middle of a bad episode of Fame? The two stars are for the very friendly servers and the pizza, which came quickly. The pizza was nicely cooked and served hot. The cocktails and beer had variety, strength, and flavor. After that it was downhill. Rapidly. A STEEP DROP. We paid for seats facing the misshapen hind quarters of people who paid less, if at all. A gaggle of ill-mannered youths, possibly from the attached school, took the center and never moved. The band was amateurish and the sound was muddy. The lead singer was either flat or in search of a working microphone the whole time. I felt sorry for them and the applause was minimal. The second band was better but the event still felt like the school band in the school gym. That was okay when I had braces and knee socks, but not now. Don't bother with this amateurish place. Go to a better-managed venue. Catch the students after they grow up. This was 3 hours of my life that I'll never get back. The venue needs to put all seats on a theater-style rake. SMH.

Yelp
An intimate place, fantastic when seeing our favorite band because of how small it was we really got an up-close experience with great views & nice lighting. Standing room only in the main area, with a few seating options in the very back of the venue, close to the entrance- easy to navigate- clean bathrooms with fun sticker graffiti to peruse There was a good amount of fees when purchasing the tickets, but for the closeness of the bands, low cost of drinks, and friendly service- very worth the price I would say my only woe was the sound system; the closeness was a lot on the ears, because the audio system is very very very loud- I am usually not an earplug person, but I definitely wish I had them; it also made some songs muddled, since we knew the songs this didn't deter from the experience, but did make it harder to understand the unknown openers-

Yelp
I've been requesting Yelp to introduce a zero star option and this place is clearly an example of where it needs to be used. Now this is a con job. Awful, awful, awful music arena and I'm being polite. I think the artists that perform here are scraping the bottom of the barrel and are trying to make ends meet and this place tries to force them into retirement!? Tickets should be made free and beers bought (which are meh) should be shared with the bands who try and entertain with poor sound quality and a stinky small area that smells like a sewer. Can this be shut down and we have a better use of space? Anything but this crap.

Yelp
AMBIANCE Jammin' Java is a cozy place for concerts. Because of how small it is, it provides quite an intimate experience for attendees and a great view of the stage and performers. The lighting provides nice vibes and matches the music. Unless you're sitting by the bar or in the VIP area, expect to be standing before the stage for the duration of the concert. SOUND SYSTEM If you're standing up front, I would bring earplugs, so that you can adjust the volume of what you're hearing to some extent. ***The audio is VERY, VERY LOUD.*** Post the 1-hour concert, I couldn't hear clearly again until the next morning. I'd wager you'd have a better listening experience hanging out in the back, though that would take away from the overall experience. SERVICE There's a good amount of fees involved when purchasing tickets, but the total cost is offset by how cheap the tickets generally are themselves. There is not much to remark about the service as I only interacted with the bouncer who checked my group's IDs.

Yelp
Nice surprise in Vienna. Came to hear a coworker play tonight. Really enjoyed the music at an intimate venue. Having had dinner before we came, I didn't order any food. Friends that were there to see the same band ordered a pizza which they said was really good. Will come back for pizza and/or one of two chilli's on the menu.

Yelp
This is a great place to attend a concert. My daughgter is a singer/song writer and has performed here three times with a lineup of other performers. The food is excellent along with the service. Every seat feels like front row as the elevated stage allows the sound to travel well. Easy to get to and the crowds seem like true music lovers, which is nice when the atmosphere is vibing. Check them out.

Katie H.

Yelp
Preformed here for a talent show event. Nice venue with a good sound system. Great to preform at as well as watch other performers!

Colleen M.

Yelp
Love the vibe on the place good food & drinks plus live entertainment the tables are pretty close together though

Yelp
Very very loud. Very very small. Very friendly staff. Sadly If I didn't leave my hair would of been blown back and I'd be deaf. Oh and no seating.

Yelp
i would be extremely careful if you are buying a concert ticket. I purchased a ticket for a show in January that was canceled due to CoVid. The venue refuses to give me a refund. I have contacted them by email, phone, and in-person. I was given an email of a manager who refuses to answer the email. At this point, I am considering sensible legal remedies.

Yelp
Nom nom nom nom nom! This place was freakin' awesome! I got a cave man bowl from South Block up front and my husband chose to go with the PBJ bowl. That cave man bowl has rocked my freakin world... blended acai, banana and cashew milk topped with fresh banana, house-made granola, dates, and coconut. YUUUMMMMM. Add a healthy dash of agave syrup and you are gonna be in heaven. This combination is legit fuckin'' delicious and the house-made granola is fresh and crunchy and YUM. I wanna come have me one of these babies every freakin day! It's too bad I live in VA Beach. Sad face. They had a bunch of other yummy stuff on the menu and had live music going on as well - so it's like dinner/lunch whatever and a show! Yasssss. Music was good the day we were there - mid-day on a Saturday and it was pretty crowded up front with a lot of people listening to tunes in Jammin' Java. I'll be sure to stop in here again when the hubs drags me the Maryland to gamble at MGM. This is where I'm gonna drag him for lunch. Service was good - the gal who rang me up recommended the cave man bowl to me for something different and made my iced matcha.

Yelp
We looked forward to this evening's Christmas concert tonight with Todd Wright, especially after attending over 20 years of the event, including last year when there was a weak attendance. Regretfully, while we thought what we saw was excellent overall--maybe the best ever, for what we saw, we had an issue with the row behind us who were beyond rude. While we originally were standing room, seeing we came just before the concert started, when we saw seats becoming empty, and waited an half a hour before going to them, to our regret, we went for them. The group of females behind us probably were drunk, but whatever, they were beyond rude. I looked back at them several times to imply they weren't respecting the wonderful performerers, but to no avail. We got up about an hour later, I had an an empty cup (only one bought), to point out why we were moving, I did symbollically lift it. They watched us and two followed us accusing me of throwing a drink, mind you, it was empty. Then they went to complain. Problem was it was a young man who listened to them complain, then came to us--we had, as reguested, moved to the front of the store with them . Whie I said it was an empty cup, he obviously wasn't smart enough to undersatnd they were, yes. lying. We left and will never again support the Brindley brothers--neither in Vienna and at the Wharf, like we've done in the past. Sad to say, this is my husband's favorite event and he missed the end. Too, we gave an extra ticket we had seeing our son's plane was cancelled a few hours earlier. We were happy to share to someone who was a walk- in the experience-- just an hour and half earlier. We didn't accept payment seeing we wanted her and her companion to have had a great experience. Beyond upset.

Yelp
A very civilized venue to see live music, eat and drink seated for a very reasonable price. They will remove the tables for a bigger act, to accommodate a larger, standing/dancing crowd. However, I've found the place really shines when you hear a more relaxed blues/jazz/folk/Americana act, and the audience is seated, cafe style. A good selection of drinks, and decent thin-crust pizza. Service can be a bit slow, but that's relaxed. May be preferred by the over-30 set.

Bob K.

Yelp
Great venue for music Sound is great. Very attentive staff. Overall a great experience.

Yelp
We came here for the Anna and Elizabeth show. I'm not sure how the venue was because I was so captivated by the performance! I'll give them 5+ stars just for hosting such amazing talent. Actually though, we really liked the venue. The batista was very friendly and drinks were really affordable. We are before arriving, but everything everyone else around us looked and smelled delicious. Next time, we're definitely going to have dinner with the show. We'll be back soon!

Yelp
I went here with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. This awesome venue is located in a strip mall in old town Vienna where moneyed folks live. Anyhow the ambiance is a cross between black cat and u street music hall. The only thing that bummed me out is that the Scottish band who was playing was charging 40 dollars for a vinyl record and they only take cash!!! What?

Yelp
Ive see this place a few times and finally stopped in. Ordered a açaí bowl, tasted delicious and really fresh. Will return again to try some other bowls!

Yelp
I used to love this venue until I was taken for $88 bucks. They re-rescheduled a date for before it's original rescheduled date after postponement of its original date 6 months prior and if you didn't discoverer this venue change or re reschedule to an earlier date by the new earlier 2nd rescheduled date you were not refunded!!!! (which I never received the email for the 2nd rescheduled date and venue change until 2 days after the new rescheduled date, even though we emailied Jammin Java 2 months before the new make up date with no responces after seeing she was doing.2 additional dates in the area , which was 20 days before the 1st rescheduled date and from another venue this company owns not the venue I was supposed to see the artist at nor the new venue the artist was to play at, even after the artist did an interview for a local paper and the artist stated she was still playing the 1st og makeup date as well as the 2 additional dates added, one of which was then said to be their newly rescheduled make up date. confusing as hell right? So the concert was originally to take place on Sept 30, 2022 rescheduled to April 21st 2023 and then changed venues and the rescheduled date to April 1st) The email gave you til March 20th at 4pm to get a refund and I received the email from Union Stage on April 3rd and not from Jammin Java! Very disappointing by both Jammin Java and Sophie B. Hawkins!!! So NO more Jammin Java, Union Stage or Howard Theatre for me!!!

Yelp
Love jammin Java! During this COVID pandemic, Jammin' Java really stepped open and I am loving their free weekend outdoor concerts. I usually come here for South block but that recently moved a few doors down and has been replaced with Union Pie. Their pizza is really good! I personally like their fries and the special spicy sauce! I would come back just for that. I came here to see Courtney King play one weekend and the place was really nice. Everyone was really conscientious of being more than 6 feet away from each other and the outdoor patio seating were nicely spaced apart. The servers were all really friendly and one even offered a water bowl to my friend's dog. I will definitely be back.

Yelp
A great music venue in the middle of a shopping complex -- who knew! I drove down from Baltimore for a small show on a weeknight. Once I made it through typical rush hour traffic and arrived, I was pleasantly surprised to have no trouble with parking whatsoever, though the lot is not huge. I did see some reviews mention parking being an issue, so imagine the situation is different for bigger/weekend shows. I didn't try any food but the bar had a good drink selection with decent prices especially considering it's a venue. Staff, especially bartenders, were really friendly too. All in all, I had a really nice experience this intimate venue and look forward to seeing more shows here in the future!
google avatar

Yelp
Jammin' Java is proof that you don't have to know how to parallel park in order to see a great live music show (I can say this, I used to intern at the 9:30 Club and parking was my biggest issue even though I had access to the employee lot). I've seen Ballyhoo here about a bazillion times thanks to my reggae-rock loving friends and I've always been impressed with the intimate atmosphere, booming acoustics, and friendly bartenders slangin' drinks at small town prices. It's not just Bud Light either, they even have Red Stripe which is perfect for jamming out to our favorite island inspired tunes. Yeah it's not the hippest, grittiest place in town but it's in Vienna so what do you expect? For local and national performing acts, this spot can't be beat. The best part is it's just down the road from Amphora's which is perfect for late night fried zucchini sticks after you've spent your entire night rockin' out in the burbs.
google avatar

Yelp
I love love love this place! It's the best venue for seeing all kids of bands in a cozy atmosphere. You can stand right up front, close enough to see the musicians sweat and spit on the microphone, if you so desire... Just saw Authority Zero play there last week for about $15. Purchased a couple pumpkin ales (with brown sugar around the rim), had a pretzel with mustard, and had a grand old time ska dancing the night away! So not only can you come to JJ to listen to great local and national artists at affordable prices, you can also come here for one of the best cups of coffee in NoVA!
google avatar

Yelp
I kinda would like to give them 1 star. On the fact that if word gets out of how awesome this place ACTUALLY IS, it may be harder to come and hear awesome music. I was first brought here by a friend like 2 years ago and was impressed with all the bands they have here. (There are tour posters plastered on the walls of the bathroom and outside) It's going to be bands most people have never heard of.... or at least bands you can add to your list of "Best Bands You Never Knew You Loved" and post their youtube videos on your facebook to impress your friends. (run-on sentence?) I don't know why people bother rating this place on food (which it seems most of the negative reviews are about the food.) Seriously, come on. Music venues are not about the food. If you're looking for good food, there are plenty of places around Tyson's you can go. If you're looking for good music, Jammin Java has it.
google avatar

Yelp
I'm a musician and had an outdoor benefit concert for "Take Action Global" on April 25. The team was super responsive and considerate regarding COVID-19 safety. Tim the sound engineer was professional and helped all the musicians sound amazing! The staff was friendly, helped ensure masks were worn and that guests were safely spaced. Performing at Jammin Java is a dream come true! Stop by for amazing music, a wonderful community, and service with a smile. Can't wait to come back!!! Thank you Jammin Java for all that you do to support music and to safely bring the community together during these unique times.

Yelp
Great music venue, personable staff, family-owned. They also have excellent pizza. The owners are from New Jersey and they clearly take their pizza seriously. Thin crust, it's cooked so it crunches, and has a great taste.

Yelp
I went to Jammin' Java for the 1st time on 3/18/16 to see the Big O Dukes live show. (I am a little late in writing a review but I clearly remember my experience so better late than never.) This review is of the venue and not the show (which was fantastic and I can't wait until I get a chance to go again). Jammin' Java is a relatively small space in the world of nightclubs and/or performance spaces. It has a very small seating (table) space which you can pay for in an "upgraded" ticket price. My husband I chose the upgraded seating which came with waitress. I was impressed with Jammin' Java's drink and food menu. It was relatively large for such a small nightclub. I ordered some appetizers which were good (and the prices were very fair considering you're part of a captive audience). Our waitress was very knowledgeable about Jammin Java's drink menu. She helped me pick a beer I loved. The only reason I cannot give Jammin Java a higher rating is that if it hadn't been for getting a place to sit I don't think I would have enjoyed my experience as much. It may have something to do with me getting older and having less tolerance for rubbing up against random strangers at a club or the fact that ultimately this nightclub (performance space) is located in a strip mall. In other words, I don't get the same "thrill" of the city making up for the random strangers part. In a nutshell, I wouldn't hesitate to go back to Jammin Java's and paying the upcharge to get a seat.

Yelp
I'd been looking for a real live music venue in Northern Virginia for quite a while. I had so much fun in LA when I went to a show in Echo Park a few years ago, and I was hoping to eventually find something like that in this area. The DC area doesn't seem to have much of a local music scene, but Jammin' Java looks like its doing its best to cultivate one. I saw that there were cover bands for Nirvana (Lithium), Foo Fighters (Deja Fu), Queens of the Stone Age (A Song for the Deaf) playing and it looked like the type of show I had been looking for in the area, so I went and it was a great show. Jammin' Java has the typical set up for this type of venue. Your ID is checked at the door and your hand is stamped after your ticket is checked. There is a bar inside and a large open area for the audience, with the stage across from the entrance. There were probably 60 or 70 people there for the show and there was plenty of room for everyone. There is also a private seating area with several tables, the rest of the audience area is standing only. It's not a huge place, but it seemed to fit everyone who attended. The sound system was great. My ears are still ringing a little two days later, if that says anything about how loud it was. Even at that volume level everything sounded clear. The bar doesn't have much of a draft beer selection, especially since craft beer is something NOVA is known for, but the beer they had tasted fine. They do have a larger selection of liquor and bottled beer. The show was a ton of fun. I don't know much about Queens of the Stone Age, so I can't comment much on their cover, other than I think the band did fine as an opening act. Deja Fu, though, was very entertaining and they had their own twist on the well-known Foo Fighters songs. During their show, I wondered if they might show up the real Foo Fighters if they played side by side. Lithium got very into the music and watching them, I could see how that style of music was so popular back when it first came out. Jammin' Java has a lot of different genre artists who play there. It looks like they have comedy acts, too. Looking at their calendar, I can see other artists I'd like to check out, so they'll probably be seeing me there again.

Yelp
I do wish this was in Baltimore I would go every night. The setting is very chilled the whole vibe was beauitful. Walking in I thought the place was closed but once you open the door you see it's just the low lights. The area behind the curtain is where the beauitful is located. The many seats and high tops and the stage with four chairs. The piano in the back right corner. Would love to play it. The sound area as well is just.....i would love it here. But it's not in Baltimore.

Yelp
My friends and I came to Jammin' Java to see Aaron Carter. The doors were supposed to open at 6:30pm. We waited over an hour in a line that barely moved. We thought we were going to /suffer from frostbite, die from hypothermia, or catch pneumonia. Given that the frigid weather, the venue didn't care to take that into consideration. They didn't let people in until 7:45pm. Even after we entered the venue, we had to wait another 15 minutes before they would let us pass through the curtains and into the concert arena. In my opinion, it was pretty loud for a small venue for the opening act but they seemed to fix it in time for Aaron Carter. Being a claustrophobic person, I'm glad my friends invested in Premier Plus seat. While waiting for Aaron Carter, I ordered a Strongbow Gold Apple Cider, Spinach and Artichoke Dip, and Balsamic Chicken Salad. The Spinach and Artichoke Dip was light and could have used more salt. It was nice that there were served with tortilla chips. The Balsamic Chicken Salad consisted of baby spinach, sliced grapes, cranberries, and creamy, spiced herb chicken and celery salad not evenly tossed in a balsamic vinaigrette. I felt that the salad lacked greens and salad dressing. It was kind of sad that the salad had more chicken than baby spinach.

Yelp
A huge shout out and a big thank you to Jammin Java and their staffs for making my life so much easier planning my kids private themed birthday parties, from my daughter 3rd, 4th and 5th and my son 5th and 7th. There is no doubt that Jammin Java is a unique, fun place. I love how flexible they are for us to bring our own entertainers, we don't have to worry about food and drinks, and that no parents and kids are being rushed home. Great location, great space, wonderful and helpful staff so overall Jammin Java is our favorite place to go for private parties. We will do it again!!
google avatar

Yelp
Jammin Java is already on the map as a solid performer venue for the extensive Indy singer/songwriter shows, but they have an excellent new menu rocked out by Chef Quinten! The food is as amazing, and certainly won't disappoint! There's an extensive stock of local beers, and a full bar sporting spirits, wine, and gourmet coffees. This venue sells out often, so get your tickets in advance. JJ is very laid back and attracts a very broad spectrum of patrons. I love the VIP section because it has table seating, and a dedicated waitstaff to make your experience first class. All of the employees work hard to make your experience a great one! Don't forget to tip them generously.

Yelp
My first concert here on Sunday evening to see GB Parker opening for the Jill Andrews band. What a nice venue with excellent acoustics. There is a coffee shop and a bar area. You can set at a table and order food and beverage and watch a show. If you want to just sit in chairs and watch you have that option as well. A smaller intimate venue that is suitable for accostic solo acts or plugged in bands as well. I had see Jill Andrews the evening before open for the Avett Brothers and she just knocked me out. When I learend she was palying here, I just had to be here and I was so glad I was. Just a great all round experience.

Yelp
This place is an intimate venue. Artists usually stick around to take pics and sign CDs which is great!!! Ticket prices are fairly priced too--I recommend buying them in person to save on online fees.

Yelp
Ambience: Fair Service: Fair Food/Drinks: Good As a person who like to eat healthy I love the concept of their power bowls especially after a great workout. Their bowls are excellent but I think some of their beverages (pressed juices) are over priced.

Yelp
Rarely go to a music/ cafe venue but Eli Lev was playing so I definitely wanted to hear him again. We had paid seats but it was so crowded that my wheelchair was constantly being kicked by everyone who passed by. Matt, manager?, swooped in and fixed the situation asap. Better seats, terrific music and the consideration was 5 Star. Our evening out was memorable in all the ways it should be. Thanks Matt! We will return.

Yelp
Jammin Java is pure awesome sauce for the burbs. Coffee shop and kids shows by day, bar, comedy, live music venue by evening. Great venue. Only problem, a lot of the artists I've never heard of because they're up and coming so it takes a little bit of research to figure out what's what. I usually check out the website from time to time, read up on the artists, listen to their music via youtube and figure out if I can vibe or not. Food and desserts are yummy. Great service.

Yelp
I ordered the Ballpark Chili Hot Dog. The chili had the perfect amount of spice to it and they didn't completely drench the hot dog with it which I was glad cause it was easy to eat.. topped with some onions (I ordered it without cheese) and it was delicious! It came with a salad which kind of threw me off.. a hot dog and salad isn't the ideal combo. BUT the salad was great. So it ended up working out. I also got something from their dessert menu, first time ever trying an Affagato. Vanilla ice cream topped with two shots of espresso and chocolate drizzle. It was great! I don't know what ice cream they use but it was pretty amazing. I would definitely come again if it wasn't so far. I came specifically for a concert but ended up getting dinner and super glad I did! The staff was incredibly friendly too.
google avatar

Rachel C.

Yelp
All I have to say is: get the ice cream sandwich sliders :) I think Jammin' Java hits all of the right notes - it's a casual little venue that is great for checking out local music. The food has been consistently pretty good and reasonably priced, both things you don't usually expect from a music venue. And it's immensely helpful to be able to grab yourself a decent cup of coffee (along with the other drinks) if you're staying up to catch the late acts. Anyway, with convenient (and free parking), food and booze, and pretty good room acoustics, I've been pleasantly surprised that what I thought was just a coffee shop is actually much more!

Yelp
I have to admit I kind of forgot about Jammin' Java until they hosted a recent Yelp event there. It makes me really excited to rediscover a conveniently located concert venue that doesn't involve fighting for street parking. This weekend was a great example. We had friends over for dinner and left for the concert 15 minutes before the showtime. We had no traffic on the way there, pulled into one of the many parking spots, and were on time for the show. No stress! The venue itself is not as big as the 9:30 Club or even U Street Music Hall, so the bands coming through are not going to be playing on the radio, but you can occasionally catch some good folks here before they get big. It's an intimate venue, and it's cool that they have a raised platform with seating for those who don't want to stand (and are willing to pay a bit more). I've subscribed to Jammin' Java's emails so I don't miss the good bands that come through and plan to be back.

Yelp
Intimate venue with decently priced tickets. Found out about this venue because there was a particular artist I wanted to see and did not want to go and see them in a huge venue where you can barely see the stage. Plus the price of the tickets were very decent and affordable. On the 90 event, arrived here early and ordered dinner. Menu description sounded appetizing. I got a bowl of chili which was tasty and flavorful. Although the chili was lukewarm and not hot, it still was good. The cornbread that accompanied it I do have to say it was probably the best corn bread I've ever eaten. Extremely moist and tasty. Rarely equine bread because that usually dry and I'm appetizing but this was cornbread to remember. :). Presentation of the food in the dish it was served and we're very attractive. Somebody sitting near us ordered a salad and that was delivered in a quart mason jar. That look like a very interesting way to eat a salad. Will probably try that the next time I visit. They were probably only about 50 people in the place and there was not a bad seat. I'll seating is very close to the stage and can see the performers very well. Acoustics were good and I would definitely come back here again in the future. Actually would come back here to listen to music anytime there's a performer that I like

Yelp
Very disappointed - mediocre food - limited selection, but we didn't come for the food. It was the music. What was a superb sound system was cranked up to over 90 decibels - The fine musicians of "Nobody's Business" sounded fuzzy and muddled. The reverb was just too painful to listen too. Advice to musicians - find a different venue if you want your music to be understood. The musical line up is terrific, just wonder how many people come back for more pain (literally).

Yelp
First time at Jammin' Java and the venue was fantastic. I watched a live David choi concert with my girlfriend and the experience was so intimate. There is also a bar for convenience access to drinks as well!

Yelp
Went to see an old friend of mine and an artist he manages perform and I can tell you right off the bat the vibe is very chill and laid back although it can be a little too dark. The macaroni cheese they had was out of this world and it was out in no time at all. A lot of small lowkey bands come here so if you're into artists that are in the process of making a name for themselves or just have good live music, this is the place for you.

Yelp
Great event spot I show up to a few times a year. The staff is AWESOME........except for that wannabe make-a-wish kid looking sound guy that is so sure he is capable of doing a semblance of what might be misconstrued as production with a holier-than-thou attitude. Other than that, this is an awesome spot.

Yelp
From a musician's point of view, this is a fantastic place to play. You're not going to get much better sound unless the other guys in your band are named Mick and Keith. It's a great stop for touring baby nationals and popular, original local bands. Also, since it's smoke free, your pipes don't end up feeling as wrecked the next morning. If you're trying to book a show there, check out their web site about draw requirements. Be sure you have a following or it'll be a one-off performance. They also provide a very decent green room with your own bathroom which makes you feel like the rock star you really want to be. They'll also record your live performance for a fee.... Great food! The pork chili and chicken salad are fantastic. I popped in there to see Bitch and Ferron the other night and they were serving liquor, too. Once the show was over they did allow smoking which I hadn't seen before. If you're a performing musician in the area you know how DC, VA and MD seem like three different countries as far as crowds. People in DC don't want to make the mecca-trip to the 'burbs and vice versa. If you have a decent metro following, Jammin Java is a great venue to keep in touch with more suburban-based fans. Interestingly, the place is owned and operated by a local act, The Brindley Brothers (Luke and Daniel).

Yelp
REVIEW ON BOOKING VENUE FOR PRIVATE EVENT This is now my 4th client event at JJ's. Every year has been a vast improvement, but this last event was most ideal and it's all because they have an outside party, Impact Collective, to help manage. Food is no longer provided via JJ's and you must choose an outside caterer, so we went with Mission BBQ. It didn't bother us b/c we could now serve our clients a full meal instead of pizza, chili, and hot dogs. This left the bar open to do what it does best, serve drinks. My clients didn't have to hang around the bar to figure out which slice or bowl was there. Simply put there was never any crowding. MAJOR WIN BRINDLEY'S! Set up was easy, all those details were solidified via the walk through. Our performer's team worked with JJ's production team and everything seemed to be smooth sailing there. I'm not musically inclined, but the band kept giving their praises during sound check, so JJ's sound guy had to be good, right? I think his name was Tommy. Dan, manager with JJ, along with Natalie, from Impact Collective, were professional and extremely helpful. I could tell they really wanted our event to go well and it did. Overall, it's a great venue and the improvements they've made over the past year are a great sign for the future. I look forward to continuing our relationship with JJ's.

Yelp
We've been here for a few events and it's a good venue for a show. We've tried their appetizers and beers and found them to be quite good, especially for a venue/bar. It's also a relatively small space but they do a good job of managing the space so it works well. We've been in the seated section for the shows and the waiter service has been excellent given that there is a show going on. In other venues this becomes a problem but Jammin' Java does quite a good job of it.

Yelp
Love this local place. The food is good - I have had good many a good sandwich at all times of the day. The drinks are nice too - tho coffee drinks vary depending on the barista. Big attraction for this place is the music - the setting reminds me of hanging out during my college days with no care in the world. Great place for anytime - whenever you are in the area - you wont be disappointed!

Yelp
It is a quiet Friday AM. This place has a lot of character. They have a large and small stage with seating for performances. The menu is pretty basic with gourmet hot dogs and sandwiches but what do you expect. The barrista explained to me it is a coffee shop, music school, and a concert hall. They have a full bar for the night time crowd. I would describe it as Starbucks meets House of Blues. I adopted it as my office this morning and looking forward to some live music tonight..
