We got the khachapuri, chicken losh kebab, and chicken Siberian dumplings. The chicken dumplings were very flavorful and the sour cream that came with it was rich and delicious. The khachapuri dough was soft and very yummy and the cheese tasted fresh. Just an FYI some of the beef dishes are mixed with pork.

I absolutely loved this place. I’ve missed food from home and this food definitely hit home. Loved the tolmas, could have eaten 5 portions of those. The pelmenis tasted like my mom’s and they were served with the sour cream! Bonus points that they are offering pomegranate wine. I couldn’t have it this time around but I have been looking for it (around NY). Definitely recommend this place!

Really love coming back here now and then to have my favorite dumplings aka khinkali! Always fresh and delicious, only on Wed & Sat unfortunately. Great interior and stuff is always polite and welcoming. Definitely recommend coming here!

Jana was a wonderful surprise on our recent trip to Watertown. It was wonderful to have authentic food cooked just like my grandmother. Grateful they fit us in without a reservation. Definitely make a reservation, bring your friends and family.

Phenomenal place. We’ve never had Armenian food and were in the area so we decided to stop in for lunch. The menu was confusing to me but only because I’m American and therefore I know nothing about any other nations’ cultures or foods. Luckily after the native names of each menu item they had plain English explanations of what they were … for, you know, us Americans. We ended up eating the flatbreads (tried to have a light lunch). Wonderful and very different from what we’re used to (you know, like McDonald’s and Subway). And my wife had the lentil soup which she said was fantastic. Slightly different flavoring than her own. The waitstaff was very attentive. Prices are right. Ambiance was really nice — not loud at all. Doubtful we’ll be in the area again but I highly recommend Jana as a good lunch or dinner spot, especially if you’re in the mood for something different.

The place was quite busy on Monday night, but they were still able to find a table for us. The pasuts tolma (Armenian vegan dolma) was probably the highlight, stuffed with a rich mixture of chickpeas and spices. The broth in the borscht was on the thinner side. The lahmacun/lahmajun was crispy and well-seasoned but light on toppings. Their khinkalis were unfortunately only available on certain days of the week so we didn't get to try them.

Absolutely amazing experience at Jana Grill! The food was incredibly delicious with an excellent selection of dishes from Armenian, Georgian, and some Slavic cuisines. Everything we tried was full of flavor and clearly made with care. I brought three American friends with me who weren’t familiar with this type of food, and they absolutely loved it. They were impressed by the variety and how flavorful everything was. The atmosphere was warm and inviting—beautifully decorated and perfect for a cozy meal. Even though the restaurant was full, the staff welcomed us in without a reservation and made sure we were well taken care of. You can tell it’s a well-run family business with a lot of heart. Everyone was so friendly and attentive throughout the evening. Highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for authentic flavors and a welcoming, vibrant atmosphere. We’ll definitely be coming back!

Stopped in to pick up a to-go order tonight. There is free street parking and some parking behind the building. Online ordering is expected to be available in the next few weeks. The front of the restaurant suffered a hit and run by a truck earlier this year and they recently reopened. It was worth the wait. Comfortable dining area and kitchen area were busy. I ordered Megruli Khachapuri (Georgian cheese bread) and some baklava to go. Both were very good. The baklava had substantial filling. Employees were smiling and friendly. Definitely planning to order their specialty-the dumplings- next time. Only available Wed and Thurs evenings.

Went with a group of 10 people, from the menu some chose single servings and other chose serving for 2. The portions are very very little. The servig for 2 is little for $65. The waiting time for the food is too long and the ground chicken kofta is soo bad. I am sharing serving for 2. I would not recommend it, other restaurants like boston kebab has better menu and way bigger portions for the same price!

The grilled items were excellent. We tried the kebab and khorovadz. Both were nicely seasoned and perfectly cooked. I also tried the Satsivi and was impressed with the flavors. Service was attentive. There aren't many spaces in the parking lot and we were fortunate to get one. I don't know where we would have parked, otherwise. Pleasant interior. No loud music, which we appreciated.

Jana Grill & Bakery is a perfectly decent option for Armenian and other pan-Caucasian cuisine in the greater Boston area. I had the opportunity to sample a number of items on the menu, and was not disappointed by anything. Jana Grill & Bakery claims to serve "the flavor of Armenia and the surrounding countries." This, however, does not include Turkey or Azerbaijan, which could raise geopolitical qualms for guests. While some may appreciate a dash of geopolitical or ethnic conflict with their meal, it is understandable that others may not. And so we continue. I had the pleasure of sampling the Traditional Armenian Kebab, megruli khachapuri, and vegetable satsivi. The Traditional Armenian Kebab was a long and slender cylinder of ground flesh, seasoned with spices that I know but shall not name, served on a paper-thin lavash with onion and some pickled vegetables. The megruli khachapuri, a dish well known to me but nearly impossible to locate in the Boston area, was decent and unique: its dough was more buttery than most khachapuri I have eaten, both within and without Georgia, and the cheese was difficult to place. It was tasty and slightly unexpected, but not in an exceptional way. The vegetables were fairly standard grilled vegetables but they were served with a voluptuous bazhe sauce of walnuts. The sauce, it could be said, was the star of the show. As for the miscellanea: the prices are fine, not so-called "fine" dining, but not on the low end either. The value is not exceptional. Also, the wine menu has a number of interesting specimens, yet only the house wine is available by the glass. As for the service, it is fine. The space, however, is beautiful: well-decorated walls and unique tables make for a lively ambience. I would return to Jana Grill & Bakery once in a while.

I don't think I'll be back. I called to order dinner to pick up for myself. I figured I would try the mixed meat platter so I could sample a variety. The menu I looked at said it was $18... but that might have been old. But I was fine to pay a bit more even so. I called to order and told the girl I wanted that item. She asked me if I wanted rice or potatoes as the side. I said rice. She said come in 20 minutes. Ok great. I was excited to try it. I arrived and she gave me the bill. $63 for a plate for 2 people. I said "this isn't mine" but she said it was. I said I only ordered for 1 person. She said I said "for two" on the phone. Seems odd since I'm the only person eating. I think she messed it up and didn't want to admit it. I didn't know what to do since they made the food already. I should have left based solely on the fact that if staff doesn't admit to being wrong in this simple case, I can't imagine how they handle different situations. I agreed to pay and she said "it's ok. It's not that much food anyway" ... oh great. I'm paying $63 for not that much food for two people. Needless to say I left annoyed. I won't ever return. It's too bad. It looked nice inside but I don't trust their practices.

So happy that this place re-opened! They have the best kebab in the Boston area, and we love their lahmajun and baba ganoush. My picky toddlers will even happily eat every bite of this food if they know it's from Jana. I hope they stick around for many, many years to come! It's worth every penny!

Such good food, can't recommend enough. Particularly recommend the cheese boat. Perfect location for a small gathering. I've been here twice and can't wait to come again

this was such a great find. the food was fantastic & everybody there was incredibly friendly and courteous. everything we had was kind of addictive, so we will be returning very soon.

Food was great! Started with hummus. This was delicious, but served with only 4 baked pita triangles. More bread would have been nice for the price $12. All 3 of us each ordered a different Losh item. Hard to handle if you want to put losh into the 1/2 pita (and eat like a sandwich) that was given. Pita was on the bottom of the pile of Losh, cabbage, onions. 1 full piece of Pita on TOP would have been better

Decor is great and in a hidden spot on the corner outside is deceiving g and when you go in it's quite cozy. We ordered the assorted Igor oats plate for two and beef borscht soup. They offer entertainment Thursday- Sunday during the months of Sept- May. I can't wait to come back and here the live music.

Words cannot describe how amazing this restaurant is, the food the staff everything. We went to celebrate an 80th birthday and we had a party of 17 and we're there for a couple of hours and they were so accommodating and wonderful. The food is incredible, the owner is also the chef and we ordered a wide variety of food and eat item was amazing. The coffee with dessert was wonderful. I recommend Jana grill to anyone just for a lunch or a party like we did. We ordered bigger platters of things to share so we could taste everything. If you're in Boston definitely make this grill a must stop.

We ordered a variety of dishes to take out. The waitperson was very helpful, patient and friendly, he made some wonderful recommendations. Our order was ready quickly and the food was delicious! We will return!

We have had take outs from here many times back in 2020 and decided to get some food again as we were in the area. We used to love their hummus, but last night the hummus was just not the same. It did not have the flavor or texture that we love. Their falafel used to be crunchy on the outside and light on the inside, but yesterday it was way too dense. A little on the dry side as well. The flavor was good though. Tried their Eggplant Caviar and although the flavor was on point, there was no texture, everything was just puréed and we were not the biggest fan of that. We will stick to Banaganush next time, it was sooo good. I wish they would bring back the mezze platter, it was such a fun way to taste all their dips. Their Jana Rice Pilaf is thankfully as good as we remember, if not better. Love the flavors and the addition of chickpeas, wild rice and carrots. Definitely something you cannot miss. We used to also love their Adjarian Khachapuri but did not get to try it this time. Not sure how things have changed over the last 2 years, but most dishes sure tasted different. It was overall a 3.5 star meal, but considering our previous meals were 4.5 stars, I guess I owe them a 4 star rating! The restroom was very clean and smelled good too. The hostess was super nice, offered us a table to sit at while we waited for the food and even served us water without us even asking. So considerate!

Outstanding food and service. A cute, small space in Watertown. We tried Armenian beer, Czech Pilsner and house red wine. Appetizers of falafel,tolma and the hummus were the best I ever had. Lentil soup also got raves. Lahmajun a very thin flatbread with not too spicy ground beef - sort of pizza. Grilled vegetables, rice pilaf, grilled boneless lamb were outstanding. Julia was our server efficient and pleasant. We finished with Armenian tea and coffee and baklava. We would definitely return for another delightful leisurely lunch.

Very salty food and expensive! I had boneless lamb and it was just 6 pieces of lamb with lots of raw onions with no rice for $34! I had to even pay extra for get the bread. The lamb was hard as a rock. I had to stop by CVS to get antacid. Yep! I am still paying for it! Overpriced and cheap meat. The waiter could also some smile too but then again I am not surprised from that place.

Beautiful decor, extremely nice staff, some of the best food I have had in a very long time. Our first visit and though it's far from home it will definitely not be our last.

Jana Grill & Bakery offers authentic Armenian cuisine in the Watertown and Boston Area. They have a private parking lot and plenty of seating on the inside. Their menu has a number of interesting options to choose from. We tried the Ajarian Khachapuri Flatbread which is somewhat similar to a pide if you're familiar with Turkish cuisine. We also tried the Chicken Losh Kebab and Boneless Chicken Thighs. Everything was really flavorful and hearty. The Ajarian Khachapuri in particular was awesome. It was freshly made with so much flavor and texture. It was the highlight of our experience! The service was friendly and fast. Our food didn't take that long to prepare which was also great. If you're looking to try something different, then I would definitely recommend checking out Jana Grill! PS: The manager mentioned that all the chicken dishes are halal for those that may be wondering.

Came here today with family for the first time as I'm new in town (new Harvard student) and was so impressed by the food! Loved the ambience. I'll be coming back with friends soon.

I wanna say thank you to the Jana Grill restaurant for the delicious food! I really liked the Armenian kebab, the restaurant is cozy and comfortable. There was an event on this day, but this did not affect the service time, there were a lot of people and i want to say thank you to Dmitry, sorry if i misspelled your name, this is a waiter in a black shirt who helped me with the choice from the menu, especially with dessert it was delicious, very good service! I will definitely return to you. Thanks to the owner of this restaurant for such staff I will recommend this restaurant to everyone!

One of my favorite places in town. The atmosphere inside the restaurant is so cozy. They have a great selection of food. You have a chance to try some Russian dishes as well. My favorite dishes are chicken kebab, eggplant caviar, khinkali, and chicken wrap. Interesting fact, that if you want to try khinkali you need to go there on Wednesday. However, you need to call them on priority and tell them the quantity you need. They also have a great wine selection. The House wine is good. The customer service is great, everyone is so nice. They have their own parking, it is convenient because you do not have to drive around and search for the parking.

Good food, would recommend their chicken breast kabob. Hachapuri was good too. Sauces were average at best. Solid choice for this kind of food in the neighborhood.

We discovered Jana online and based on the reviews thought it would be a good idea to order some takeout. Ordered Baba ghanoush with vegetables, borsch , and two kabob plates for $59 Each of these items were half the size of an appetizer. The kabobs were mediocre at best, the pita was stale. Borsch was watery beet broth and babaghanoush had a strange taste I don't like giving such negative reviews and was trying to write something positive. The young woman who handed off the takeout order was pleasant

WOW! Food was incredible. Everything was so fresh and had so much flavor. We got the summer salad, lunch combo plate with chicken and baba ganoush (amazing!), chicken shawarma, and lahmajun. Ended with the baklava and coffee. All so tasty. Definitely will be back.

First time ordering delivery from Jana and had the best experience! The Khachapuri is to die for and is a must from Jana! We ordered it to celebrate Armenian Christmas today and it was delicious, timely, and fresh. The housemade lavash is a must and don't get me started about the baklava . Usually prefer pistachio but the walnut was absolutely incredible. Thank you for making my day!

I've been here a few times and the food is pretty good. The service is friendly but can take a while if they are busy. Overall, I would recommend it and I will definitely return as well.

Once in a while, i go out for a jog along the Charles River. Along my path, I see Jana across the street. I always took a mental note to check it out since it is a fairly new place, and I'm always curious to try new neighborhood gems. Finally i read in Eater Boston about this place and their khachapuri, so i knew i had to come here. Finally on Easter, I took my girlfriend here for lunch. The place has some tables, but it's a bit confusing whether its a restaurant or a take out place. I believe you can sit down but then you order at the cash register, and they'll bring the food for you. The servers were quite busy, so they weren't that helpful in the beginning. We sat down at a table and then were waiting for someone to help us. Realizing, that we may have to order at the register, i walked up to the register and grabbed a menu. Finally, i went to the register to place my order. It seemed like the chefs and staff were very busy churning food and plating. It took a while before they took my order but they were very apologetic. We ordered Armenian coffee, eggplant caviar, lentil soup (originally we wanted chicken noodle but it was sold out), Chicken shawarma (originally wanted pork, but it wasn't available), and the ajarian khachapuri. The food came out rather quickly, minus the ajarian khachapuri, which they warned us would take ~20 minutes. The food were all delicious. Armenian coffee is dark and syrupy with dark chocolate notes. The eggplant caviar was seasoned well and the pita crisps were on point. They put Stacy's pita to shame. The lentil soup wasn't too heavy and the chicken shawarma was huge, decadent, and plentiful. The chicken with the char flavor was extraordinary. The ajarian khachapuri is fun to eat, breaking off the bread/gooey cheese and dipping it into the egg yolk. I wish they offered a combo app platter, sample platter, or something that will highlight all of the different dips as one appetizer. The price points are very reasonable, and the staff are very friendly and helpful. This place can easily be a 5 star place, but they need to improve their system. It was a bit confusing walking in and not understanding that we can get a table but have to order at the register. Also, I didn't see any takeout menus, which i would love a copy to take home with me. We'll be back!

This place was great. I was on a work trip, and my boss is Armenian, so we were on the hunt for Armenian food. We stopped here and, although it was a special night where reservations were needed, the manager accommodated us. We made a few picks from the menu and asked the manager to pick the rest. Everything was amazing. I have never had such delicious babaganough in my life - they smoke the eggplants on an open flame spit, and that extra layer of flavor was killer. Some of the tastiest kibbeh I've ever eaten (my husband is half Lebanese, so we eat it often). Whatever else I had (not sure of the names) was equally tasty. I highly recommend this place if you find yourself in the area.

Delicious and freshly-cooked Armenian food at a very reasonable price. We tried their: + Ajarian Khachapuri (small size) + Chicken Khorovats wrap with mint sauce + Armenian Beef Losh Kebab We ordered over the phone, and when we arrived we could actually see them cooking the order on the grill, which I thought was awesome. Everything was delicious, and the two meat dishes were my favorite---the beef kebab was very well spiced, and it came with various pickled vegetables that complemented it very well. The khorovats wrap was amazing as well; the mint sauce really complemented the meat. The Ajarian Khachapuri was fun to try, and flavor-wise it was very cheesy---it reminded me of "white" sauceless pizzas sometimes served at pizzeria. When I come back, I very much want to check out their Baba ghanoush and other spreads.

We really enjoyed food here. So so good. Takes a while to get your order on the table, but it's defined worth the wait. Also, Armenian coffee is delish!!!! Free private parking is a plus. We will definitely come back next time we are in Boston.

The Yana Grill and bakery does not disappoint, the service, the menu, the cleanliness, and the food, made our parties and my experience remarkable. Although I highly recommend you go on Wednesday or Thursday and call ahead for a reservation to get their wellk nown Khinkali (which from previous experience are to die for good)!

Came here for the second time!! It was amazing!! I love this amazing place, it is so cozy and the food is absolutely delicious. Would definitely recommend the Khachapuri (both Megruli and Ajarian) and the chicken thighs. Yummmmmmmm!!!

Jana Grill is pretty close to where I live and I've been meaning to try it out at some point since Armenian food is pretty popular in this area. I finally had the opportunity to and I have mixed reviews. The place offers plenty of seating if you plan on dining in, however be prepared for a long wait. Our food literally took 30 minutes to come out, which surprised me as I assumed it was more of a quick fast food type of place. You order at the counter and seat yourself. I ordered the pork shawarma, the mezze small, and the ajarian khachapuri. The shawarma was my least favorite as I've had plenty of shawarma before and this one didn't really stand out. However I did enjoy the mezze appetizer and the ajarian khachapuri. The mezze appetizer allows you to try all the various dips and they were all tasty!

Great food amazing service would come back here again. We had a and it taste really amazing. We had a feeling that we came back to back row our home country! Interior was from like from 2010! We had a salad as well and it taste as good as it gets !

This is definitely one of our favorites and rightly so! We typically eat in. The restaurant is bright, airy and spacious. There is parking out back. You let someone at the counter know that you want to eat in and they'll direct you to a table. You are expected to order and pay at the counter but they get the food to your table and clear away the plates. Getting to the food - Almost everything that we've tried has been superb. Ajarian khachapuri is great - bread boat, cheesy goodness topped over easy eggs. Tasty chicken khorowat wrap. But our staple order is always the chicken losh kebab, with garlic sauce and a side order of the chef's special fried potatoes. The meat in the chicken losh kebab is so well-cooked, it melts in your mouth, very well-seasoned too. You can wrap the kebab in the pita with some onions and coriander and the garlic sauce - simply delish. The garlic sauce can be a little salty but does complement the dish. The special fried potatoes has mushrooms and onions in it. Light seasoning but it's the way they grill it, that's how it gets that unique smoky flavor. Now coming to dessert. Oh that display will tempt you! We tried a variety of their cakes, but the Snickers is our favorite - it does not include the candy, it's just made of peanuts. Hence, the name. Just a heads-up, the cakes here are on the drier side. As for the customer service, it's a family owned restaurant, and everyone we've interacted with is all smiles and kind. As an example, we ordered the "arishta" once, and the noodles were tough to eat. It was topped with a yogurt sauce which happened to be very sour. We let our server (a girl at the counter) know. We weren't upset with the dish since this was the first time we were having it but it wasn't what we expected and we let her know. She patiently listened to us and even spoke to the chef and then gave us dessert on the house. She told us "if you eat here, we want you to love the food". That to me was exemplary service! Delicious food and excellent service! We went on a Sunday afternoon to try their falafel and the staff were incredibly friendly and accommodating. We went with the falafel wrap with garlic sauce and chicken wrap with yoghurt mint. The flavors were striking, the portions were generous, and each wrap was filled with fresh, crisp veggies, which added so much to the texture of each bite. We'll be coming back soon to try the khorovats and losh-kebabs, but it will be hard to stray from that tasty falafel!

Good service, good ambiance clean place. The food was really good except for the potatoes. You can tell they were reheated and tasted like they were burnt. Other than that, not a bad place for some Armenian BBQ

Wow! So many unexpected flavors! Where to begin! Please try the cheesy bread (Megruli) and definitely get the large. I need to figure out the crust (fried first???) and use that for every pizza we make in the future! Not greasy at all and cheesy but complex! Every kabob or grilled meat dish we tried was great! Try them with each dipping sauce, so many things we have never had before. Also - if picking a salad try the Armenian Salad - I don't like eggplant and my husband hates peppers yet this was delicious for both of us! Super clean inside, very friendly service. Will be back over and over again!

This does not get 5 stars only because this restaurant is not luxury (don't want to mislead). Nonetheless, a 5-star experience regarding food, service, and cleanliness. Food: authentic Eastern European delicacies that many of us have grown to love. See the menu. Still, speaking for myself, I had little experience with Armenian foods. Warm breads, savory salads, meats that make you want to take a cooking class. I mean, can't wait to return. Wife had a Lithuanian beer. Restaurant offers daily specials and catering. Service: waitress, clearly from the cultural context, guided our choices. Friendly, knowledgeable, efficient. Cleanliness: during the tail-end of Covid in July 2021. Still all well socially distanced but progressing towards the old way. Spotless floors, windows. I loved the aesthetic of the little bowls and cutlery, speaking to Armenia, one would imagine. Seating reminds me of eating in Vermont. You'll see. The joint looks like a regular pizza place. Hardly! Can't wait to return to eat the egg in bread plate (I can't recall the name).

We decided to try this restaurant for the first time last night and frankly we were very disappointed overall. We ordered the following items: Flafel app Taboule  Chicken boneless thigh  Soujoukh losh kabab  Kofta loah kabab  Chicken losh kabab  I would have to say that the chicken boneless thigh was exceptionally good but all of the other dishes tasted bland and rather similar overall. Nothing specific to distinguish them apart. Also, our food was pretty cold even though they were in these aluminum containers (perhaps they weren't sealed well). The portions are extremely small for the price (we are not in Boston) and only placing a half pita bread is very cheap to say the least. No pickles or even a small piece of onion to go with a grill dish? I'm not sure if this place will do well in the long run but $60 for 4 skews of kebabs and a side is by far pricy. There are far better options for the price and taste in Watertown.

This restaurant is new but it's seems like everyone working here is all over the place, we stopped in on Sunday evening and we didn't know if we should wait to be seated or do we order and than sit. No clue but after a few mins someone approached us and told us to order at the counter and grab a table after. Once that was out the way, we ordered our food and sat down.. The only thing that we didn't like was the falafel wrap, I am a big fan of falafel but the best way to eat it is fresh right out the fryer. This place had them already premade and sitting in a warmer once served you can tell just by the first bite it wasn't as great nor was it hot as it should be. The chicken thigh was also good served with rice, hummus and a salad. For the price of $15 I was expecting a little more meat and less rice. It was good don't get me wrong but not worth the price. The cheese bread was to die for that's why the 3 stars, it was loaded with so much cheese and the dough was amazing, for $9 it was well worth it.. Overall it was a good spot to try but not worthy of a second visit. Parking is also available in the back that's a plus.

Best of the best, haven't had a this great of food like this place at list a year, sorry took the food picture in the last minute but couldn't leave the place without the review, everything is great straight meaning of the word great, customer service is beyond expectation
