Holy cow! Seeing J&G Fried Chicken here in the States? I had to grab some immediately! That signature garlic flavor is no joke—it tastes exactly like the original spot back on Jiguang Street in Taichung! It’s totally different from American fried chicken where the batter is so thick it feels like biting into a cracker. This has that unique Taiwanese-style thin batter that fries up super crispy on the outside but stays tender and juicy on the inside. Topped with their classic pepper and chili powder—this is what real Taiwanese popcorn chicken is supposed to taste like! Even though the price in USD is pretty steep, the flavor is just top-tier. It completely destroys those dry American chains nearby. If you’re sick of fried chicken that only tastes like Cajun seasoning, this will seriously hit the spot. Highly recommend!

I’m originally from Taiwan, so I’m very familiar with the authentic J&G Fried Chicken flavor, especially their fried chicken. This time, I got to try the first J&G location in the U.S., and I’m happy to say it brought back those familiar memories—the taste was spot on! I ordered the small popcorn chicken and fried king oyster mushrooms, and both were delicious. The restaurant is spacious, bright, and very clean, making it a great dining environment. The only downside was that the staff were very quiet and didn’t greet customers, which made the place feel a bit lacking in enthusiasm. For any business, this could be a point to improve on.

Extra star for the childhood memory 😔 I finally decided to give this place a shot, but the food quality left me disappointed. The service was excellent, and the flavor reminded me of childhood—which is the only reason this isn't a one-star review. BUT... The chicken tasted like it had been re-fried from who-knows-how-old leftovers. It was dark in color, not from seasoning, but from what looked like over-used oil. The buttermilk sauce tasted off—almost like it had expired. That might explain why the server was pushing it so hard. Honestly, both sauces should be kept refrigerated, especially in this kind of weather. It was over 82 degrees out, and they had both front doors wide open. I ended up ordering to-go just so I could eat somewhere with AC. To top it off, the menu is overpriced. (Over $10 for one chicken; see my picture) If you're still curious, maybe try coming on a weekend when turnover is higher—I went midweek. But this isn’t how a place should be run. For first-timers, I do recommend trying the bone-in chicken with the house sauces, especially the JG sauce. Just be aware there’s an extra charge for them.

This establishment opened a couple of months ago. They have many items on the menu, we ordered the tempura shrimp and classic chicken sandwich with curly fries which came with a fountain drink also ordered a pineapple tea, all these items were great The chicken was spiced just right and moist. The structure's interior design catches the eye, there are plenty of tables to sit down and enjoy your meal. customer service is friendly and courteous. I have to state we had accidentally left a wallet there and employee Shawn retrieved it and saved it for us, which was appreciated. We’ll be again visiting soon, they have a smoked salmon chicken sandwich I want to try it’s only on the weekend menu. there’s plenty of parking with handicap stalls close by.

This place is confusing. Here’s why. The atmosphere, or at least the setting, with the open kitchen and cleanliness, isn’t bad. But honestly, that’s about all this place has going for it. I ordered three combos: the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich Combo, the Chicken Leg and Thigh Combo, and the Large J&G Popcorn Chicken Combo. I also ordered the chicken knee. All of that came to around $55, which is quite pricey. Strangely, none of these combos come with drinks, which is really odd for a fast-food spot. When I went to pick up my order, the food was just sitting there on the counter with no one around. The staff seemed too busy to notice, let alone care. I had to check the number and grab it myself. After about 10 minutes of eating, something felt off. First, none of the combos included drinks—I’m still not sure if that’s how it’s supposed to be. Second, the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich was missing. We double-checked the order several times, and it just wasn’t there. So, I went to ask the server. After a few minutes of trying to explain the situation, the older lady seemed annoyed, almost angry. She grabbed a chicken sandwich from the back and tossed it at me. Not exactly the kind of service you expect. Honestly, it’s a good thing they use kiosks for ordering, because if I had known how bad the service was, I probably would’ve left sooner. As for the food, the taste wasn’t great. The curly fries, popcorn chicken, and chicken knee were all soggy. I mean, the food came straight out of the kitchen—how did it get soggy so fast? There was no crispiness to any of it, and most of the fried items had a strange sweetness to them, which was unexpected. Maybe that’s the flavor they’re aiming for, but sweet fried chicken? Okay... The salad was decent. It tasted fresh, but there’s not much more to say about it. Surprisingly, the Deluxe Chicken Sandwich—when we finally got it—wasn’t bad. The flavor was good, but the chicken was just too soggy, like this place doesn’t know how to fry food properly. Spending over $55 for three combos without drinks is steep. We even had to ask for a cup of water, and they only gave us one small cup for three people, reluctantly. It felt like they didn’t want to be bothered. I’d never heard of this restaurant before. It seems like there are a lot of fast-food chains popping up in the U.S. from China, but I’ll be staying away from them. It feels like they come here without doing any research or marketing and expect to make a quick buck with subpar food and service. There’s a reason that, in the land of fast food, places like McDonald’s and Taco Bell still reign supreme—even though we know their food isn’t the best. At least they try. Unlike these new pop-up restaurants, which treat us like cash cows to be milked. I will avoid this place and its brand until they make significant improvement.

We have heard of this new Taiwanese restaurant for a while. We ordered the crispy chicken cutlet, popcorn chicken and of course the yam balls. Chain store drinks are sometimes questionable but the gentleman recommended their fruit teas, so we ordered one. The restaurant was clean and airy, the customer service was quite nice. We both liked their crispy chicken cutlet, it's very crunchy, the only downside is the size. The popcorn chicken was meh... There's not much flavor and the crunch was missing. We've tried better popcorn chickens in Taiwan so, our standard is a bit higher😜 The yam balls were chewy and delicious. But the portion was really small (for the price). Overall, we will be back for the chicken cutlets as they're quite good and for other items on the menu we haven't tried.

Kids love the popcorn chicken and the curly fries here. However, the portion was a bit small and we had to order more. Price is slightly more expensive than other fast food chains. The place is fairly empty on a Sunday noon. Staff was generally attentive but would be great to have a bit of smiles and friendliness.

The sweet potato fries were surprisingly the most impressive item among everything I ordered. They were lightly sweet without being overwhelming, crispy on the outside, and still kept the natural flavor of the sweet potato, which I really enjoyed. As for the fried chicken, I think it comes down to personal preference, so it’s hard for me to judge — but you know, fried chicken is rarely bad.

A small fried chicken shop in the 99 Ranch Plaza. The brightly lit interior looks nice. Most tables seat 2-4. There are two awkwardly placed self-serve kiosks at the front, but you can also order and pay with the cashier. I had no issues with activating my buzzer at the kiosk. At the end of your meal, bus your own table and return the trays near the trash can. My friend and I did not wait long on a weeknight at 7 pm. FOOD ORDERED - Chicken Cartilage 酥炸雞軟骨 ($6.99). Tasty! These juicy nuggets of dark meat chicken and cartilage were coated in a crispy batter closer to beer batter or tempura batter. The cartilage was seasoned with salt and black pepper, but there was also a mild fragrant and lemony taste. - Spicy Fried Chicken Fillet 川麻雞排 ($7.99). It was good: juicy white meat chicken with a crispy batter. The batter has little crispy puff balls of texture. The seasoning had a hint of white pepper and maybe five spice. I had a bite of my friend's curly fries. They were standard, a bit better than your typical fast food chain. SAUCES ORDERED - Sweet & Sour Sauce 糖醋醬 . I liked it, it was like McDonald's but better. - Buttermilk Ranch Sauce 田園醬. Standard, but good. It falls somewhere between bottled ranch dressing and housemade restaurant ranch. - J&G Spicy Sauce 特製辣醬. I didn't like it. It tasted like chipotle mayo sauce mixed with fermented black bean chili paste.

We came twice for takeout, and service was drastically different each time. First time food took a while to come out and was missing sauces in our orders. Seasoning on the chicken was ok, but the fried king oyster mushrooms were really good. Second time, the chicken was good but the fried king oyster mushrooms could've used a little bit more. Overall, I think if you get consistent quality it's a good spot to grab some fried chicken. I'd just double check your order before leaving.

Came here to try some authentic Taiwanese popcorn chicken and was so pleased with my experience! Ordering was easy since there were two self-serve stations (though I think one of them was broken that day). Prices are pretty reasonable- we paid ~$20 for a popcorn chicken, fries, and chicken fillet and it was enough for 2 people. Everything was soo juicy and fresh. Fries had that perfect tempura-y texture and crunch. And the seasoning? YUM. The spicy sauce is good too- not really spicy but adds some extra savory flavor. Parking was pretty easy since it's in a big plaza. The decor inside was super cute and modern as well. I'd recommend eating in the restaurant since I feel like fried food isn't as good once it comes home. Would come back again!

J&G Fried Chicken is now open in Hacienda Heights. It's pretty ironic that they share their origin story of their founder delivered their J&G fried chicken with a "genuine smile, fostering such a close relationship with customers" while this location greets you with nothing but 2 self-serve kiosks. They have some tables and you seat yourself. However they seem dirty and worn for a new business. My boyfriend had their Original Chicken Sandwich Combo ($9.19) and I had the Chicken Leg & Thigh Combo ($12.49). Their combos just mean that it comes with curly friends, no drink. I should have just gotten the sandwich because the leg and thigh still came with bread, and that's what I was avoiding. And I had to go through the trouble of removing it from the bone. This meat was not tender as it stuck to the bone. And the breading had no flavoring. Really disappointing. As I ate this meal, I kept thinking of all of the other meals I could have eaten instead. What a waste of unhealthy calories.

I got the spicy chicken sandwich and my friend got some of the chicken cartilage! The sandwich comes with peanut butter spread inside which honestly is a pretty weird combo for me so I'd personally opt out of the peanut butter when ordering if I go again. I also asked for no pickles in the sandwich but it still came with pickles anyways :') The chicken in the sandwich was very juicy and tender. I'd give the sandwich like a 7/10? If the peanut butter wasn't there maybe like a 7.5/10. It's definitely not a showstopper but a good quick meal if you're in the area! I would not recommend the fried chicken cartilage though. It seemed like the oil was a bit old since the cartilage had like a weird taste that you get when you fry things in older batches of oil? I'm not sure how to explain it but I just wasn't a fan of it and wouldn't recommend it. 1/10

Inside is clean and organized. All the things you need are out and self serve from napkins, utensils, etc. Things we ordered: Chicken cartilage- Popcorn Chicken- Wished the texture was more on the crunchy side for popcorn chicken. Appeared more like chicken bites/nuggets Spicy Fried Chicken Fillet-For a fried chicken filet it stayed juicy and tender throughout every bite. You can taste the sichuan spice throughout. Spicy Chicken Sandwich- Definitely a hit for us. We'd go back for this. Chicken was juicy and complimented well to the sweetness of the bun We made it into 2 combos which come with curly fries. We loved the texture and cook on the fries. However taste wise is was bland with lack of seasoning or salt. J&G spicy sauce, sweet & spicy sriracha, and Thai sweet chili : the sauces were overall ok. Neither good nor bad. Nothing really stood out.

Loved that they have a couple of kiosks to order from, you can easily browse the menu, order and pay. Seating can be a little tricky, especially because some couples take up a table intended to be for 4 people. For the food, the chicken is good. Nothing special. We ordered 3 combos. We should've just ordered the regular items because the curly fries and the pudding were so disappointing. I mean, who can mess up fries? I thought it would have a lot of flavors but they were so minimal. Their "spicy" sauce wasn't even spicy and the honey mustard was mediocre. Now that I've tried it, I don't think I'll go there again.

Finally paid a visit to the newly opened fried chicken chain from Taiwan. The interior is modern and sleek, super aesthetically pleasing! Service is friendly. You can order up front and then find a seat to sit down to enjoy your food. The curly fries weren't ready at the time the buzzer went off so one of the employee made sure to drop it off at our table! The original chicken sandwich combo comes with a curly fries and a soft drink or you can make it a premium combo, which includes popcorn chicken and yam balls. The chicken in the sandwich was crispy and fried to perfection. The curly fries and popcorn chicken were well seasoned and the yam balls had a nice hint of sweetness with a chewy mochi texture. The yam balls were so good! But a bit disappointing how the order only came with 5. In my opinion, the portion size is underwhelming for the premium combo price. Overall, I do think J&G is a great addition to the area!

I was really excited to try this after having tried in taiwan. When I factor in price, wait time, and quality of food, I just don't think this met up to that bar. I did enjoy the yuzu sandwich and popcorn chicken though it couldve been crisper/juicy like Taiwan. Overall my expectations were just a bit more for the price point thus feeling like a 3.5. You can expect the inside to be your typical tea shop with a decent amount of seating.

I didn't try J&G when they first opened because I didn't want to wait in line. Now I'm glad I didn't. The inside is really clean and the food came out quickly. I can't complain about the service. I can complain about the food though. I was really hoping this place could be a new local favorite chicken place since I frequent Chiciety, chicken bun bun, etc. The chicken sandwich tasted dry and the batter tasted almost overcooked. I ordered spicy but it wasn't spicy at all. If you want a hot chicken sandwich, don't come here. The chicken gizzards were alright. They were crispy but lacked flavor. They were probably the best chicken product I got. The chicken fillet was fine. Again, it lacked flavor but it was juicier than the sandwich. The curly fries were good. No real complaints. The sauce included with the combos wasn't enough but they helped with the lack of flavor the chicken had. The popcorn chicken is unlike any other popcorn chicken I've had before, texture wise. It was surprisingly not dry. Reminded me of other chicken nuggets/bites I've had before. The yam balls were tasty and had a good texture. I got the premium combo and a regular combo. The price isn't absurd so that was a plus. I can confidently say I won't be back BUT nothing I ate was terrible. Mostly mid. I would give it overall a 6/10. It was similar to the satisfaction of fast food. Nothing spectacular but fills you up. I really wish the flavors overall were more present and that the spicy level was actually spicy.

Pretty good taiwanese chicken sandwich place in town. My favorite was the fried chicken gristle surprisingly. Pineapple tea was also really good. My only complaint that chicken was juicy but small and not so crispy. All in all, this a nice fast food place alternative to chick-fil-a. The interior was nice and clean. Service was fast. I will be back to try other items on the menu for a quick bite.

This place had a lot of hype when they first opened, so I was pretty excited to finally give this place a try. However, overall, I was pretty disappointed with the food. It was greasy and you don't get a whole lot for your money. Not horrible as far as quantity, but not close to getting a deal. But for me the worst part was the food. I just didn't enjoy their seasoning and I didn't think their fried chicken was very good due to all the greasiness. I have to say that service was good and they were welcoming, but we won't be going back here.

Came by today to give J&G a try as it's been on our list for sometime. When we got there on a Monday around noon there was no line, so that was nice. We ordered on the tablets which was relatively easy to navigate. We got a spicy chicken fillet, popcorn chicken with ranch, and a ice green tea with tea jelly! Since we got it to go, we sat inside and waited for about 5-10 mins then the food was ready. Service workers were nice and confirmed our order with us before we left. The seating area was nice, very modern and aesthetically pleasing. - Spicy Chicken Fillet 10/10 - Popcorn Chicken 10/10 (tasty! not oily which is what I love, but still had a good crunch and the chicken tasted pretty fresh. good portion size and size of each chicken) - Ranch 7/10 (just cause it was like 3 squirts, and as a sauce lover, I would have liked more to be enough for all the popcorn chicken) - Iced Green Tea with Tea Jelly, Regular Sugar, Less Ice 10/10 (super refreshing and a good pairing for some fried chicken! it was the right amount of sweetness for me)

Open during construction as of 11/4/24 I went at ~7:30 p.m. on a Monday and it was empty inside but I take that as a plus cause no wait and the interior was EMACULATELY clean. Sad to see all the mixed reviews cause I got a pretty good piece of their Spicy Fried Chicken Filet! It was served super hot and fresh, and was extremely juicy. Located in the "99 Ranch Plaza" with plenty of parking

A good place to grab a snack. Came here during an off hour so there weren't many customers. Staff was friendly able helpful in explaining their items on the menu. Although there were probably 2 or 3 other customers in the entire restaurant, it still took about 15 minutes to get my order, which I'm not complaining if the order was made fresh to order. I got the original chicken sandwich and the chicken fillet. Most if not all the items on the menu are fried so if fried food is your jam, this is the place to go. The chicken in both the sandwich and fillet were tender and crispy. The flavor, in my opinion, could be a bit more defined. The flavoring was light and there are peppers to apply onto the chicken but those are only adding spice. Otherwise, tasted fresh and may drop by again if I'm in the area. The restaurant is clean and seating is first come first serve. Parking was plentiful when I visited but I can image it being pretty busy as it shares the parking lot with the 99 Ranch Market just a few stores down.

For me this is so delicious! The yuzu chicken sandwich is highly recommended and the sweet potato fries are closely resembled Taiwanese style sweet potato fries. Orange green tea was great as well and I didn't adjust anything (I like my things on the sweeter side) I'll definitely return and try other things on the menu. The sauces were just ok though. I prefer eating the food as is. Employees were friendly and the have self order menu as well. Parking was easy since it's in a huge plaza (next to 99 ranch market) I went on a Friday afternoon and didn't wait too long (maybe 15 min).

Came on a saturday lunch, about 12pm. It was already busy. There's two kiosks for self ordering and 1 register . The line is confusing, and i hope they reareange it so the line has a better flow. The place was slightly dirty but still doable. The tables just need to be cleaned, but there's no staff on the floor to do so. The food was pretty good! The meat was nice and juicy. We got the spicy chicken, and it wasn't spicy at all. They should add more spicy sauce to the chicken. But overall, i would come back if im in the area.

I found out about this place through tiktok so I thought I would give it a try. I live pretty close by and I've seen the line get crazy. I ordered online to save some time, but the online ordering system was glitching and it was telling me that some items were sold out when they weren't (I checked after I ordered and they were available to order again). I walked into the restaurant and said I was picking up but they didn't seem to understand me??? I had to repeat myself several times for them to give me my order which was right in front of them. When I got my order they didn't give me my soda that came with the combo and I had to ask for it. Then, when I got home I saw that they didn't include any of the sauces I ordered. The restaurant was not very busy when I went in so I don't know what happened there... The food was mid and barely warm. I went to pick the food up when it said it would be ready (30 min), but it seemed like it was probably sitting there for a while. The spicy chicken sandwich was dry and bland. There was barely any sauce on it and was not in the slightest bit spicy. I definitely thought there was gonna be more to it than just the buns and the chicken. The popcorn chicken was alright, but probably would've been better if it was fresh and if I had sauce. Overall, this place is not worth the hype. I'm glad I never waited in that super long line when they first opened.

The food is very heavy but filling! It was good, but I cannot say it was one of the best chicken sandwiches I had. I was excited to try their popular Yuzu chicken sandwich, but it didn't really bring the flavor that I thought it would. The storefront is designed nicely and well kept, so it was nice to enjoy our meal inside.

I came when they were just opening to great fanfare so many of the menu items were unfortunately out of stock. I did get the popcorn chicken which was well, popcorn chicken. I don't know, I just found it very generic and nothing special at all. The service was friendly but extremely slow, especially for fast food restaurants. The ambiance was festive and very bright but very few seats were available. I don't think this restaurant would last though unfortunately since I see no customers during dinner time one night last week. They should really bring over Dan Dan Hamburgers from Southern Taiwan.

I finally got to try this place after hearing mixed reviews from friends and family and i think its pretty solid. I think service is probably better after their grand opening, so the quality of food is also better (did not experience dry or cold chicken). I got the yuzu burger and it was really interesting! Flavor was definitely there but i think i prefer the classic chicken burger with their spicy j&g sauce more. Me and my fried got curly fries and salad as the side and shared. The portion was pretty big, i was surprised at the size of the salad box they gave! My chicken was really juicy and i was pretty full after. Would like to try their normal chicken burger next time i eat here.

Spankin' new modern interior, the first bright new tenant in this tired old 99 Ranch Market plaza that's badly in need of new blood transfusion. Ordered their signature fried chicken filet; it's good size for $8 but not super huge like the ones I've seen on youtube videos from Taiwan's night markets. The flavor profile is heavy on five spices similar to Taiwanese fried pork chop... in fact, I took it home and stewed it in minced pork sauce for 10 minutes and it tasted *exactly* like Taiwan pork chop! By itself it tasted kinda... 'meh' I saw their other items on the menu; however none looked unique or piqued my interest... except the fried chicken filet aka Taiwan chicken schnitzel.

It's in a plaza with a lot of stores so there's plenty of parking. We went on a Sunday afternoon and there wasn't too much waiting, probably around 20 minutes. We got the popcorn chicken, fried mushrooms, and the chicken sandwich. The chicken sandwich was a little soggy and it was served in a bag, which makes me think they probably just reheated it. The popcorn chicken was good, not as crunchy as I would have liked though. My favorite thing was the fried mushrooms, which were crunchy and flavorful and I would honestly come just to order this LOL

Place was clean and spacious. I like that there are kiosks to order which I find more convenient. The prices are reasonable for the portions. Chicken was flavorful and juicy. I liked the J&G spicy sauce as it goes well with both the chicken and curly fries.

Fried chicken from Taiwan that was brought over by the same folks who brought you 85C. Currently it's a soft opening right now. So there are obviously some little kinks to work out, but I enjoyed my experience overall. It should also be noted that they don't have 100% of the menu items quite yet - not a big deal. But they have the main items like the sandwiches, etc. And that's what really matters at this point. I ordered the Yuzu chicken sandwich combo. This comes with the curly fries, a soft drink, and a sauce of your choice for the fries. The sandwich or chicken wasn't as crispy as I would like, but it was tasty. But honestly, the crispiness for the sandwich was on par with another fast food fried chicken spot I like. Really the only chicken spots that I've had crispier sandwiches at are like the really high-end and loved chicken sandwich spots around town. The curly fries and the dipping sauce were great. Because it was a soft opening and a much hyped up event, I think there was some Asian media around when I was in line. The ambience here feels more of a fast food place which I think that's the kind of place in Taiwan if I'm not mistaken, but I've never been to Taiwan so I can't say for sure. I think the line did move a little slowly and think it's because they're working out the logistics. I went during my lunch hour at work and I ran a little over than I wanted but to be fair, the line here moves quicker than my favorite chicken sandwich spot in LA. Overall, I enjoyed my experience and I think this place has a lot of potential. I'm really glad I got to try and I would come back once the hype dies down.

Big fan of trying any new fast food chains. Knowing that J&G is so big over in Taiwan - I was super excited to eventually make it out and try their chicken. And ya know what? It's good! The nugs and fillet are the highlight.

接受人生本來就是世事無常，也會分道揚鑣，有些委屈本來就只能自己撫平，有些傷口也只能等它自己癒合，對於所有的緣分， 還是老話一句～ 珍惜而不執著～ 今天跟好友來一場說探店就探店的午餐， 聽說在台灣鼎鼎有名的繼光香香雞， 已經在哈崗開始soft opening , 只開中午時段 11-3 點， 既然是來探店的， 就亂亂點， 什麼都來一點， 有鹹酥雞， 辣味雞排， 甜不辣， 炸章魚腳， 炸四季豆， 炸甜薯， 也點了四杯不同的飲料， 其實我在台灣沒吃過這炸雞， 不知道是不是跟台灣一樣的味道，不過， 鹹酥雞我覺得是很棒的， sweet potato 也要拍拍手， 辣味雞排沒有非常辣， 飲料， 我的 橘子綠茶不能調甜度， 但不會太甜也不錯， 今天下午過去， 來嚐鮮探店的人真不少， 快3 點了 還是長長的排隊人潮， 店裡明亮， 點餐人員服務也不錯，想念台灣家鄉味的朋友， 可以過來嚐嚐了～

Popped in here because my favorite green onion pancake place closed down :( So I was parked right in front and I was hungry so I gave it a try. It was much bigger than I thought from the outside. I walked up and did the app ordering, but there were 2 people waiting for those that wanted to order in person. There were a lot of people having lunch here! When I was done ordering I entered my number from the pager and took a seat. Very efficient. Strawberry lemon green tea - so good and refreshing! It's a green tea slushy. 1/4 sweet... just a little bit was all I needed. Sweet potato fries - so good too! You can really taste the sweet potato. There is some added sweetness to the crunchy part of it as well. Kind of like that cinnamon/sugar vibe, but without the cinnamon and it's baked in. When it's nice and warm + crunchy, you can't stop eating. Fried chicken (nuggets) - nor as crunchy as the sweet potato fries, but it was a nice fry. Not greasy and good sized pieces of chicken. It's the seasoning I am not very fond of. Not that it is bad, I am just not into it. To be honest, I would come back for the drink or if I am craving those sweet potato fries, but I wouldn't come back for the chicken.

Today, my friend and I tried this new famous Taiwanese Fried Chicken spot at 99 Ranch Plaza (on Azusa and Colima) in Hacienda Heights. It was a soft opening; the Grand Opening will be held tomorrow and Sunday. We hate to wait in long lines so we decided to get there earlier. They opened at 11 a.m. and we got there at around 10:30 a.m. so we were the first 2 customers. People started to line up at around 10:45 am, and about 10 people were standing behind us. When they just opened, there was only one cash register and the ordering time was a bit slow despite us being the first 2. We ordered 2 large-size J&G Popcorn Chicken ($8.49 each) and we picked Thai Sweet Chili Sauce and J&G Spicy sauce. We also ordered Sweet Potato Fries ($4.29), cuttlefish cake ($6.59), and 2 Iced Taro Cosmo Milk Tea. ($5.69 each). They gave us a buzzing pager for our orders. The ambiance was welcoming, clean, and spacious. I liked that they had a big J&G sign hanging close to the entrance. It said "Fried Chicken 1973- The taste of fried chicken in every Taiwanese memory". We waited more than 10 minutes and finally, we got our food. Glad we both ordered "J&G Popcorn Chicken" in large size because it was very delicious. The chicken was very tender and juicy and it had just the right amount of crunch. The taste was on point and flavorful and it wasn't salty at all. I liked the Thai Sweet Chili sauce, the flavor was special, not spicy, and all in all very addictive. The J&G Spicy sauce was also not bad but I preferred the Thai Sweet Chili sauce. Sweet potato fries tasted good. The cuttlefish cakes looked a little offputting because they were all black. However, the taste was not bad---they tasted like Hong Kong fish balls and had a good texture. We liked the Taro Cosmo Milk Tea; it was not too sweet and I could taste a lot of the Taro blended with milk tea inside. I'm not sure how they are going to handle the Grand Opening this weekend because the lines will be insane. They will have some good offers at the Grand Opening this weekend for the first 100 customers though. (see my photos) However, I would suggest you come earlier on weekdays. (I hate to have to wait too long). The price was okay, the service was slow, but the food tasted great! I would go back there and try their other food on my next visit!

I had high expectations for this place and ended up being disappointed. The portion size is very small compared to what I paid for. The popcorn chicken was only a few pieces of chicken and the curly fries are overly salty. The squid tasted rubbery. The fish cake was okay but not enough portion. The chicken sandwich was pretty good. If you really want to try, just get the chicken sandwich. Everything else wasn't good.

Recently opened in Hacienda Heights is J&G Fried Chicken. It's in the same shopping center as 99 Ranch Market on Azusa Avenue in Hacienda Heights. J&G offers Taiwan street food. This is their first location in the U.S. I ordered their original fried chicken and fried squid. Their chicken were bite size and comes with different dipping sauces. I chose not to have dipping sauces. The chicken was good. A hint of sweetness with a spicy taste. The chicken was tender. I wish the batter of the chicken was crunchy. The fried squid was over fried. The squid was tough. It was like chewing rubber. My opinion is mixed. Chicken was good. Squid was not. DJ's rating: 3.00/5.00 Would I come back? Maybe.

J & G Fried Chicken in Hacienda Heights is like a fried chicken rollercoaster where half the rides are broken, and the other half make you wonder if you'd be safer just standing in line. It offers great promises, but you might end up questioning if the line was the most exciting part. The popcorn chicken combo is like buying a bag of chips and finding it half-empty. It's crispy and tender, sure, but it comes with a whole lot of disappointment and just enough crumbs to remind you what you're missing. The curly fries are an existential crisis in a cardboard cup - are they even fries? The chicken tender is so forgettable that by the time you finish it, you're not even sure if you ate anything. The chicken fillet feels like it stumbled in from a completely different restaurant, thick and chewy, more like a doorstop than a piece of chicken. And let's not even talk about the chicken cartilage that goes from crispy to soggy faster than you can say "deep-fried disappointment." The fishcake and cuttlefish cake? It's like they had an identity crisis and forgot they were supposed to taste good. The fishcake is so fishy it could be used as bait, while the cuttlefish cake is the distant cousin who no one wants at the family reunion. The fried sesame rice ball is like eating a sugar factory with a side of condensed milk, and the grapefruit green tea with taro ball is so sweet it might as well come with a complimentary dentist appointment. The sauces? Jiguang and spicy are decent, but the buttermilk ranch is like dipping your chicken in pure boredom. The honey mustard has an odd tang that makes you question if it was intended for something else, and the Thai sweet chili has a flavor that can best be described as 'confusing.' In the end, J & G Fried Chicken in Hacienda Heights leaves you with mixed emotions. Just like seeing a beloved movie remade and realizing the magic just isn't there. It's got its moments, but the overall experience leaves you wanting more of that original Taiwanese magic. If you had high hopes, you might end up feeling a bit let down.

When J&G Fried Chicken first had their grand opening, I remember seeing the line all the way to the 99 Ranch Market entrance, and even further down, for hours. Back then, I did not know what the hype was, and I still actually do not know what the hype is - after my first visit today. Taiwan is known for their night markets and popcorn chicken, but I cannot say we were both blown away by the items ordered today. I do not enjoy flavored drinks, but they have a 50% off Yelp check-in offer for one of their drinks at the moment (promo at the register). One can either order at the kiosk (1 of 2 since one of them was "out of order" when I visited today) or with the cashier. (L) J&G Popcorn Chicken $8.99 Crispy Fried Squid $7.99 For the price, I got better tasting popcorn chicken from a certain boba place, or even another restaurant. Yes, they have sauces here, but I feel like it's both the cut of the chicken and the batter used that just did not cut it for us. The chicken pieces were like "hacked" up or something, very odd shapes. Even though Chick-Fil-A is pricey, we actually would prefer Chick-Fil-A over J&G. Also, I know it's not the same, but I must prefer English fried foods because the fried squid did not impress either. For all we know, it could have been a squid purchased next door at 99 and they just cut it into pieces, battered, and fried up. Everything must be made to order because I was waiting quite awhile. One is provided with a pager after ordering, and I wish they didn't because I was basically "tied" to J&G to wait for my order. I had originally wanted to order, go to 99 to purchase a few items, and come back but since I had a handheld pager, I could not leave the restaurant and come back. It felt a bit of a waste of time. They have sauces for you to choose from, and I did enjoy the J&G Jiguang Spicy sauce, which I did not find spicy at all, they did also have Sweet & Sour, Honey Mustard, etc. However, they ran out of the Ranch sauce though. There were a few people in the restaurant enjoying their order and a few others who placed their orders to-go. I never saw anyone out of the kitchen, wiping tables down or anything, and there are a lot of workers in the kitchen - each at their station. Overall, I don't think we will be back. The combos come with fries, no drinks. If you are craving popcorn chicken or any fried sides, this is the place. But... both my fried squid and popcorn chicken were extremely brown (especially the fried squid), which means that their oil is not "fresh" (not changed regularly). Makes me rethink out wanting to come back... The parking lot is pretty full usually, but one can usually find a parking spot somewhere. I always do hope a business will continue to thrive and hope they find their loyal following.

Two adults and one kid go to J & G Fried chicken on a Friday. The fried chicken store is located inside same plaza at Ranch99 in Hacienda Heights. I used a kiosk to order all the food. Chicken cartilage (unique but fairly small), cuttlefish cake, black but yummy. Fried golden purple yam ball is delicious - sweet but still soft in a small ball. And J&G popcorn chicken combo comes with curly fries and one soft drink. Popcorn chicken and curly fries are approved by the kid. We like the restaurant vibes which looks modern, clean, and simple. However there are limited seating with table, we set on high chair. Last time I was here and order a tea with boba and the boba straw is too narrow. (no I didn't grab the wrong one). Boba gets stuck in large straws. I like most of the things we ordered today but some items are changed due to supply and demand.

I think the 3.5 star average rating is accurate but I'll give it 4 given the friendliness of the servers. They were really patient with taking the time to explain everything and the differences between the options. Food wise, 3 would be accurate. It would OK, but nothing really exciting about it. There were some things that were better than others. They do provide 6 sauces to choose from which was nice. Starting with the worst food option, would be the popcorn chicken. Unfortunately it was a little soggy and didn't have any crunch to it. The rest was not bad. If you're comparing the chicken sandwich to Chick-fil-A, the CFA chicken tender is a little more plump and substantial. I felt like the patty for J&G is a little flatter in substance. The bun was actually pretty good and very soft. We had the Original and Yuzu sandwiches. I as told that the Yuzu had a Yuzu sauce to it but honestly, I couldn't really tell the difference between the two. The cartilage was OK, a little on the bland side and maybe a bit too much flour. The friend enoki mushrooms were pretty good and the fried squid is all tentacles (not rings), which is what I prefer. These two appetizers were probably the best things we had. The Orange Green Tea was actually very good too and was 50% off with the yelp check-in. Overall, not a bad place and I'd probably come back to try their other drinks but not something that I'd make a special trip out for.

We were excited to try Taiwanese fast food from J&G. I loved that I was able to order online before heading to the shop. Spicy Chicken Fillet (4.5/5) - The breading is crispy and well seasoned. The chicken is juicy and tender. Deluxe Spicy Chicken Sandwich (3/5) - The flavoring of the chicken was hidden by the other ingredients in the sandwich. I did like that the fillet was juicy and still slightly crispy. The bun was fluffy and slightly sweet. Curly Fries (3/5) - You get a good amount of curly fries with a combo order. The curly fries were just a tad too salty. Overall I would go back for the chicken fillet.

There are plenty of parking spaces. They have plenty of indoor seating available. You order via the 2 kiosks. I tried the popcorn chicken and it was okay, wasn't crispy and it didn't taste as good as it would be without the sauce. You do get to choose a choice of your sauce. Always seeing those photos of the Big Chicken cutlets sold in Taiwan, I've always wanted to try it and when I heard this place opened I knew I had to go. I went on a Saturday and like other reviews have said it was pretty busy. Around an hour to wait in line and get your order. I got both the Spicy Fried Chicken Fillet and Yuzu Chicken Sandwich. I dug into the fillet immediately and savored the crisp fry and tender inside. The seasoning was slightly sweet which I liked, but I would have liked a lot more spice. The Yuzu Chicken Sandwich left me a little disappointed. Overall very solid sandwich: well cooked chicken, soft bun, and the yuzu sauce and slaw complemented the sandwich well. I do wish however there was way more texture and crunch like the fillet I don't know if there is a different frying process or the way the sandwich is assembled that makes the chicken soggy, which made it not too different from anything you'd get at another fast food chicken place. Decent seating inside even on a busy day. Overall, I think this place can definitely hit the spot for that Popcorn Chicken and Boba craving and will definitely be a lot more worth it when the lines die down.

My wife came here to get lunch today (May 4, 2024), and it was pretty darn busy. The line was out the door! When we finally got through the line to see the inside of the restaurant, it was totally packed with customers. All tables/chairs were occupied and multiple people were standing around waiting for their orders. The food we ordered was Popcorn Chicken, Fried Squid, and two drinks: Cosmos Taro milk tea & Strawberry Lemon Green Tea Overall, the food & drinks were good, but the long wait is reason I'm giving them one less star on this review. We waited in line for about 15 minutes. After ordering at 12:50pm (which is the timestamp on the receipt), we didn't get our order until 1:20pm.

The famous J&G Fried Chicken from Taiwan has opened its first location in SoCal, so we went early on grand opening day to try. They handed out coupons for the first 100 customers for a free original chicken sandwich combo, popcorn chicken, boba milk tea or orange green tea. They also passed out samples of their black/green tea while waiting in line. We ordered an original chicken sandwich, yuzu chicken sandwich, and taro cosmic milk tea with taro balls. I wanted to order the fried fish cake but the cashier said they took it off the menu. The original chicken sandwich was nothing special, and the yuzu chicken sandwich had a subtle yuzu taste, but the chicken was tender. I enjoyed the taro cosmic milk tea the most, since it wasn't too sweet even with no adjustments to sugar/ice, and the tea wasn't bitter. The taro balls were chewy and your first topping for drinks is free, not to mention the drink itself already came with fresh taro chunks and pudding. The price for the size was very reasonable at $5.69, highly recommend! Overall, nice for hangouts and gatherings with cute decor if you arrive early to snag a table. I would wait for the lines to die down but worth a try!

The soft opening for J&G fried chicken was pretty packed for 1pm lunch and the plaza is pretty busy too. The interior is very fresh and new with what I deem a clean design. The noise levels are what you'd expect for a fast food place and the bathrooms were very clean. The drinks look like they're part of a different name called Tplus but everything is an open so you see how your drinks and food is being made. The milk tea with boba was good - 4/5 The Taro cosmic milk tea was good - 4.5/5 The yuzu chicken sandwich was kind of disappointing with the soggy chicken and bread, but I ate there and picked up my food instantly. The flavors were there, but I think that their chicken wasn't crispy enough/I would have liked a juicier bite or a crispy outer layer. 2/5 Fried tofu was soft tofu, but it's nice with their sauces. Too soggy. 3/5 Fried chicken was pretty much the same quality for the fried chicken sandwich. I would have preferred a good amount more of seasoning and the pieces of chicken didn't have any crisp to them. The flavors fell flat - 2.5/5 Fried cuttlefish was good! The taste felt like fried fish cakes and overall 4/5 Fried squid was good and bad, some pieces were breaded and fried properly and some weren't. 3.5-4/5 Fried taro and yam balls - cheap and sweet for a dessert side. 4/5 The sauces were pretty good with their spice for the sriracha or their jiguang spicy, the sweet and sour was exactly what delivered, but overall I think that there is definite room for improvement. I'll come and try this place when they've been open for longer, but I think that the first time experience had too many downsides.

Chicken is really good! My son loves the tenders and so far I have had the popcorn chicken and the yuzu chicken sandwich. My husband had the leg and thigh and we shared a cutlet. The combos come with curly fries but not drinks. The sauces are pretty good, especially the spicy house made one. You can order on the self serve kiosk or with a person. We have been there twice and so far so good! It's clean and bright inside too.

My family comes here very often for a quick to-go meal! We got the yuzu sandwich which is our favorite--it's tangy, crispy, and full of flavor. We also got the original fried chicken fillet which was decent but lacking in juiciness and flavor. My favorite snack here is the sweet potato fries! It's hard for me to find sweet potato fries with a seasoning that I enjoy but I really like this one! My one complaint is that sometimes the seasoning does not coat the fries evenly, so some fries are lacking in seasoning

Finally got to try this place! I didn't want to put my hopes too high and be disappointed. Nothing in particular was "bad", but it was just underwhelming. The spicy chicken sandwich wasn't piping hot, it was nice and warm and the chicken wasn't super, super crispy or anything. It was good as a fast food. If we're comparing fast food chicken sandwich, then I'd prefer going to Popeyes. But I do like the overall taste. It was good and decent :) I also got their deluxe spicy chicken sandwich with premium combo. I think this was quite pricey since it was $18. It came with a drink, curly fries, and a small portion of popcorn chicken and yam balls. I think it would've been more fair if it was $15-16? The presentation for the fried goodies actually looked disappointing, but the fried yam balls wasn't bad :)! I enjoyed the mochi texture and it was pretty good in flavor imo. The yam balls were pretty dang small and I had high expectations for the popcorn chicken since I figured if you're doing chicken in your menu, I'd hope the popcorn chicken be damn good. However, it was alright :)! Aside from the food, customer service was top notch. Super sweet and friendly staff! Clean environment and a nice interior design with orange branding. Parking was abundant since it's located in a plaza. I'd probably come back with friends as a place to hang out and have some chicken sandwich. I don't think I'd order the premium combo again, instead, I'd just get a regular combo for $12.

This is the second time we visited this establishment, I had to come back for the salmon and chicken sandwich which was only served on the weekend but the great news is they have it every day now, not only that but they have great customer service. They have many items on the menu, the fried chicken, sweet potato fries, and salmon chicken sandwiches are good they are unique in taste and the employees Minivan and Brain were courteous friendly, and honest, the customer service they present makes customers want to go back again. I must say my girl left her wallet on the table, everything was in there, money credit cards everything. It would've been a really bad experience to have lost it and Brian retrieved it and saved it. We appreciate that. The interior of J&G fried chicken is nice. It catches the eye and there are plenty of tables to sit down and enjoy your meal. They have numerous beverages and fountain drinks plenty of parking with the handicap stalls close by.

It looks like the 85c team is behind this project. I really didn't know what to expect from another chicken sandwich type of place. It was really crowded with a long line before the store opened up. It's nice and clean vibe inside the restaurant. They've got some kinks to speed up the ordering. But the food comes out fairly quick after you order. Menu consists of fried chicken bite items, chicken sandwiches, and boba types of drinks. I got the yuzu chicken sandwich, fried chicken cartilage bites, and milk tea. They've also got a list of dipping sauces to order. I got the J&G sauce along with ranch. The chicken sandwich was delicious. Perfectly fried and juicy inside. A subtle hint of the yuzu flavor. The cartridge chicken was so good. I would totally get that every time I visit. My milk tea didn't have much flavor. but other than that I had a great experience. Recommendation: Yuzu chicken sandwich and fried chicken cartilage
