After my initial review, the owners contacted me and wanted to make things right. Honestly, I don't think I have ever received that level of customer service before. I was flabbergasted. Top notch. 5-stars.
I went back a week later (today). I got a full pizza this time as recommended by the owners. It was definitely better than the slices I had a week earlier.
I had a pick-up for noon -- it wasn't ready at noon. They were still dressing the pizza when I walked in at 12:01. I had to wait almost 10 minutes to get the pizza. I needed to get back to work, so I was a bit pressed for time, but it was fine.
The pizza had more sauce than previously. It wasn't horribly thin like last time. It also didn't taste old nor were the slices small.
The only thing is, I wish the sauce had a bit more pizazz. I like a more robust flavor. I really want to taste the natural sweetness of tomato. I am a sauce person and the sauce for me is my favorite part of any pizza. I wanted a bit more in the flavor department. The toppings were good and the crust was great.
I understand that maybe this pizza just isn't for me, but they are a great establishment and I want them to continue to have great success. While the pizza isn't what I am looking for, I will definitely recommend it to others. Who knows... I may come back, which is an improvement from how I felt last week.
**Original Review 1-star**
It pains me a bit to leave a 1-star review since this place seems well liked, but, for me, it left a bad first impression.
My partner and I decided to try this place before we went home. We ordered 2 pepperoni slices and 2 vodka slices. When we got to our car, we noticed that we were only given 1 pepperoni slice. First mistake. I went back and got the missing slice with no issue.
When we got home to eat, my partner did not like the way the pepperoni smelled. I smelled it, and it did smell odd -- like old grease. Our slices had hardly any sauce. Not much flavor.
Then, when it was time to eat my second slice, the slice was small. It was half the size of the first slice - an egregious size for $5. After that, I was done. I go to NYC multiple times a year. I have pizza every time I go, so I know what it is. Today, this was not a good or even decent replication of it. It was a bad first impression, and, because of that, we won't be returning.
