I almost don’t want to write this review so I can keep this place a secret but omg this is literally what I’ve been waiting for in San Clemente! This is exactly my vibes. I won’t even explain it so y’all can come try! All the drinks are good and I’m 100% in love. Shout out to the bartender Dean for taking great care of us on NYE. Unfortunately we weren't able to try their food as the kitchen was closed, def next time esp the beef tallow fries

John S.

Google
Bar Jane may or may not fit in with the rest of downtown San Clemente, but if you’re pondering this question, you soon realize that it’s beside the point. The cocktails here are fantastic, and if that’s an unexpected surprise, then just roll with it and change your expectations to fit the facts. Ethan has served us at each of our visits and has always taken great care of us with drink suggestions and overall service. My understanding is that they share a kitchen with The Cellar next door, but we’ve only ever ordered drinks at Jane. I just wish I lived closer.

Google
After hearing rave reviews about Jane, my wife and I were greatly looking forward to checking it out. Unfortunately, I don’t think we’ll be returning. Out of four cocktails, there wasn’t one we particularly enjoyed (and that included 2x “bartenders choice” cocktails). We tried one of the pizzas which was ok. After talking to a few restaurants in the area, it’s our understanding that there has been a lot of turnover in the bar manager position and so the cocktails themselves are more hit and miss than historical. Hope they get it figured out again.

Google
Dean was our bartender and drinks were amazing. Didn't have any food so can't comment on that but atmosphere and vibes were great!

Google
What a lovely and surprising find in San Clemente. The entry to this alluring restaurant and bar is unassuming, but once inside, the detail and intentionality of the art deco inspired space is intimate and transportive. We were greeted by a delightful young man whose tone and demeanor accented the elevated and classy ambiance. Our bartender/server was also a delight and made sure to take care of our every need. Cocktails were fantastic and handcrafted with care. I had the ‘Penicillin’- not too sweet or overpowering with subtle notes of ginger and lemon. We paired it with the smash burger for $24. The goat cheese on the burger took it to the next level of decadent and savory. We also enjoyed the coconut shrimp with green curry sauce which was an ample portion and cooked well. The menu at Jane is small, but we will certainly be back to try their other offerings.

Google
Jane is a hidden gem! The first time i went here was during Christmas and i was blown away. I love the atmosphere, it’s great for a date or girls night. They also have days during the week where they offer cocktail specials. My boyfriend and i come here all the time and we love it!

Google
Amazing!!! The limited menu of small plates were all lovely. Balanced and complex while filling and with options for everyone. The cocktails were to die for. With great options on and off menu when we couldn’t decide our servers did a perfect job guiding us!

Joanne C.

Google
Love this place! The drinks were really good. Sadly, we couldn’t try the food because they don’t serve it on Sundays.

Yelp
A beautiful space for drinks, food, and even engagement photos! We drove all the way from San Diego to take our photos here and were beyond impressed. The cocktails were top notch - so many fun, inventive ingredients. Servers were so nice and laid back. We will definitely be making the trek to come back for food and a making a weekend trip of it!

Yelp
Came here for cocktails before a dinner reservation. We had made reservations for 5pm, right when they open, and sat at the bar. The vibe gives off a speakeasy vibe without being a hidden cocktail lounge. I ordered a drink off the menu, while my husband let the mixologist make him something based off his preferences. We both loved our drinks, so we ordered another round and some fries. This time I let the mixologist make something for me... I told him I like gin, fruit, but not too sweet. What he brought me was like a rainbow sherbet cocktail and AMAZING! We will definitely be back to enjoy some more fun cocktails!

Yelp
First time here. We came for date night on a Thursday rainy evening. The vibe is chill and dark. The service was great. Our server suggested to first choose a signature cocktail as it was our first time here. We enjoyed the drinks and service here, although we didn't try the food, there were some interesting menu items available to try.

Yelp
Okay, full disclosure: with four kids, a date night that doesn't involve drive-thru fries or someone asking for ketchup is already a win--but Jane in San Clemente? Total glow-up moment for us. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was chef's kiss. Dim lighting, gorgeous design, cozy but elevated--like Pinterest and a speakeasy had a very classy baby. It felt grown-up and cool without being pretentious (because let's be real, I still had a Paw Patrol sticker on my shoe). The cocktails? Don't even get me started. These are not your average drinks--they're the kind you sip slow, admire the garnish, and then immediately plan your next visit so you can try another. I had one with gin and lavender that was dangerously good. My husband kept raving about how smooth his bourbon cocktail was. We felt fancy. We felt alive. And the food, though a smaller menu, is incredible. Small plates, yes, but big flavor. Everything was well thought out, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. It's not a place for giant portions, but it's perfect for sharing and savoring between sips and conversation. Bottom line: Jane is date night perfection--whether you're escaping the chaos for a few hours or looking to impress out-of-town friends. It's moody, delicious, and full of that "we need to do this more often" energy. We'll be back. Probably with a babysitter already booked.

Yelp
What a fabulous find! The bar isn't very big (with a few seats outdoors in front); we were fortunate to sit at the bar top where the bartenders are all personable, professional, and creative (special thanks to Kane's attentiveness, making us feel welcomed and valued). In addition to (at the time of our visit) 5 beer and 5 wine options, they have quite a spirits collection, their barrel select old fashioned (with an option for a smoked cocktail), and (again, at the time of our visit) 8 of their interestingly creative cocktail options. Then, there's the Calamity Jane adventure, in which one can select their spirit plus other preferences (e.g. spicy, smokey, spirit forward, herbaceous, etc.), allowing the bartenders to create a special cocktail for you; what's fun is 2 people may check the same boxes off their card and both would receive completely different cocktails! Limited but attractive food menu. We enjoyed the Beef Tallow Fries (with smokey aioli), $12, and (with the help of the bartenders) chose the Gochujang Ice Cream Sandwich, $11. NOTE: FOOD IS NOT SERVED ON SUNDAYS. We're eager to return to experience their Whiskey Wednesday and their Jeudi a Jane (choose any martini, with choice of a select food item). There's a conflict on their hours: * Their website states that they are closed Sundays and Mondays; * Yelp shows that they are closed Sundays, Mondays, and Tuesdays; * Their menu states (which we've confirmed) they are now open at 3 P.M. on Sundays.

Yelp
I love this place if you want to go somewhere classy and fun come here. Their drinks and their little food menu is the best! Service is always nice too. 100/10 recommend

Yelp
When my son was in town we decided to visit Jane for a cocktail and we're glad we did. From the street the bar had a nice, convivial crowd and seemed like an inviting, somewhat intimate, place to spend some time. My son ordered a Number 2: "Sparkling, Crushable, Pleasantly Earthy" (mezcal, jasmine tea, blood orange, pasilla and sage with carbonation) and my wife and I, feeling somewhat tired after a long day, ordered a Number 7 "If Lemon Custard Pie were a Cocktail" (vodka, graham cracker, lemon oleo saccharum, brown butter, cynar and cream). Both drinks were excellent: inventive, nice merging of ingredients, with a bit of a kick. The bartender was friendly and made the drinks with the flair and panache that's great to see at a cocktail bar. I'll visit again for sure to try some of their other drinks.

Yelp
If you're into craft cocktails, then you must come here. Excellent service and delicious drinks. Reservations are recommended since the place is small and can get busy. The place is dimly lit and felt cozy. If there was something I'd change, I wish there were more drinks to choose from.

Stephanie B.

Yelp
Fantastic spot for a delicious drink! The service was warm and welcoming from the moment we arrived. If nothing on the menu catches your eye, don't hesitate to ask the bartender...they're more than happy to craft a custom cocktail just for you!
google avatar

Yelp
I absolutely love this little bar!! It is the speak easy to the Cellar restaurant next door and the interiors are my absolute favorite. It's dark and moody and small and intimate. They also have some pretty amazing craft cocktails but have a full bar so you can make whatever cocktail you would like The food menu is limited as everything comes from the Cellar however it's enough if it's appetizers or light snacks you are after it is generally very crowded but service has always been good.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing cocktails and super cute ambience. A bit small but cozy. The old fashioned and the fries are too good! Service is really good!
google avatar

Yelp
Nice place. Great cocktail menu. Fun for creative drinks. Nice patio for people watching on the sidewalk. The service was fine, not particularly memorable.

Deeba F.

Yelp
My coworker recommended this place and it did not disappoint! My boyfriend and I went on a Sunday but it wasn't crowded and the ambiance was elegant and laid back. Recommend getting the dirty jane and the orange creamsicle, some of the best cocktails we have ever had. Only downside was that they don't serve food on sundays, but the bartender and service was incredible and we can't wait to come back!
google avatar

Yelp
Loved the ambience in here, very lowlight. Candles and little lamps everywhere. We got an espresso martini and a no. 2 which was an earth drink with mezcal. Very good. We came here before we went out to dinner and it definitely set the vibe and mood for the rest of the night. Service was amazing. They gave us water with our drinks and made sure to keep refilling our waters.

Yelp
I visited Jane on a busy Friday night and was able to get an outdoor table for 2 right away. The space is small, but very cute for a cocktail. I'm giving it 2 stars because the vibes were there, but the service and drinks were not. I didn't try the food. The hostess seemed a little overwhelmed and took about 20 minutes to give us water and take our orders. My husband and I filled out a form for the bar tender to create a drink for us based on our preferences. I chose tequila as the spirit, with notes of freshness and spicy. My drink was absolutely horrible. It tasted like it was literally tequila mixed with the leftover drainage from the bar table and soda water. I was so disappointed in my drink and felt like there was no effort in it. I have no issue paying for a nice quality drink, but I felt like this was something I'd pay $5 for at a college bar. They did offer to make us another drink, but at this point we had waited nearly an hour after sitting down to have our drinks and I just wanted to leave. Overall not impressed and I could have created a much better drink at home.

Jasmine Y.

Yelp
Went in last minute for some drinks and was taken in right away by a staff member Casey. He cleared the table right away in a packed house and we got our drinks in less to 5 or 10 minutes of being there. Casey and the rest of the staff were so great, we can't wait to come back!

Yanxi L.

Yelp
Very nice ambience, I might have an unrealistic expectation for food. The drink is decent, but not worth driving all the way from Irvine, this would not make it to the top 3 bars of OC, hardly top 5 even
google avatar

Stephanie T.

Yelp
You have to order the Calamity. The bartenders will mix you a drink based off of some preferences and choices you make. They come up with such unique drinks that make me want to go back again and again. Fun experience for sure.

Colin J.

Yelp
Was walking on Del Mar and stumbled upon this gem of a place. Upon entering we were greeted by a lovely lady who promptly sat us at the bar. Our bartender Dean, a gentleman I say, was amazing. He recommended several amazing cocktails, all of which met and exceeded our expectations. The overall theme of this restaurant invites guests to share a drink and collaborate. We will be back!

Brittany S.

Yelp
Drinks always come fast and are consistently delicious. The drink menus do change, which is great. However, I fell in love with a drink and then was told when they didn't have it anymore that they also didn't have the ingredients to even make it anymore either. So don't get too attached to anything, lol. Such a cute place though! Love it for a date night or girls time.

Elisa G.

Yelp
I want cotton candy and this strange speakeasy restaurant has it on the dessert menu so I'm excited!! I'm ordering the tom kha with some champs. Wait!!! The soup was cold and so was the rice in the bowl that my daughter and bf ordered. We are getting the check and leaving before my cotton candy was ordered. :(. 2.5 stars for the drinks but don't come here for the food.
google avatar

Lily B.

Yelp
Love it here! They have a cool system where they can make you a personal cocktail and my friends and I LOVED IT! They also have a lemon martini type drink that tasted like dessert. Staff is friendly and I could see it being a cute spot for a first date!

Douglas D.

Yelp
Nice place for a cocktail with a little more sophisticated ambience than your normal beach bar. However, I will not be coming back due to the wine menu being so pathetic and limited. No sophisticated reds at all (no Cabernet, no Merlot or Cab Blends). One Zinfandel blend and one Pinot Noir are the only reds. Hope they discover Austin Hope and Justin wineries soon.

Yelp
Super legit. Great intimate seating. Drinks are crafted with creative thinking. The drink menu changes with the seasons. Beautiful ambience and close seating. You can sit at the patio or a private table of 6-8 in the back. The bar is the fav for us. But they also have small 2 and 4 tops. Madison is super and she can point you in the right direction for drinks or food. It's not a great sit down food place but they do have more than bar food. Their chef is crazy tops and sets the menu for Jane and their other restaurant next door(the cellar). Very classy and expert effort put into their menu.

Theodore Y.

Yelp
Great drinks, great service, excellent ambience. My girlfriend and I went for a pre-Movie drink and hung out for a couple hours, Jane is wonderful.

Cade M.

Yelp
I am a local at Jane and was served by this new bar tender Peter. He gave me the best service I have ever had and is the hardest worker I have ever seen. He brings laughs to everyone at the bar and is super welcoming and inviting. I am telling all of my friends to come to Jane and ask for Peter to serve them.

Yelp
Rare fancy cocktail bar in south OC. We walked in on a Sat night around 9pm and scored seats at the bar after a 5 minute wait. Cocktails are great and the service was chill and friendly. Ordered a spicy mezcal margarita and the paper plate which was a fancy whiskey drink. Both were delicious. Definitely a good date spot. We parked on a side street.
google avatar

Chelsea E.

Yelp
Checked this out for cocktails only, so can't speak to the food. We came on a Friday night and sat at a high top near the bar. Absolutely loved the vibe! Definitely a more intimate setting, perfect for a date night. The staff was really helpful with recommendations. We both tried the espresso martini and liked it. I appreciate the effort they put into the menu and vibe, always love a good craft cocktail and feel like it's tough to find spots like this in OC! Will be back next time I'm in South County.

Yelp
I don't trust places that don't make amazing appetizer bread. That being said, this place is on thin ice. The most disappointing thing to me was the bread. It lacked the essence of a simple delicious bread. It was dry and over salted almost like one of those pretzels you get at the movie theater. They're better off using store bought, pre-packaged alternatives that are crowd pleasers. (Think Hawaiian bread, rolls, or Parker House rolls.) I am a butter, fanatic! The bread balls came with two butters: brown sugar butter and cranberry blood orange butter. I admire the immense effort and design that has been put into this establishment, which is one of the main reasons why I decided to come for afternoon cocktails. Upon walking in I immediately felt bored with the setting. The noise level is moderate, not much to say about the vibe but the decor is cute. Their cocktail menu is quite limited yet interesting. I had the Thai Chili, packing lots of punch it tasted like a jalapeño cocktail? Not a fan. Too spicy. Hopeful and exuberantly walking in here and I left, hoping to not return. After reading a few reviews and as I continue revisiting Avenida Del Mar as a San Clemente local , I think I will go back and sample some other drinks geared more towards my palate. I don't feel confident in trying out any of their menu items just yet, the whole bread dilemma needs to get checked out... but I'll post an update. I am a firm believer in second chances, so Cheers to second chances and yelp reviews!

Yelp
Yes yes yessss I'm so glad that I found this spot. This is the best place to hangout and get a drink. The music was so good, and it was such a good night. It kinda reminds me of a bar in LA it's the same vibes just more lowkey. I will be coming back for sure, the drinks are amazing, our waitress was so sweet and attentive, and overall just immaculate vibes all around.

Yelp
Jane might be a bit tricky to find, but can be easily located if you know that it's right next door to The Cellar. It's dimly lit and cozy, and immaculately designed--it's an aesthetically pleasing experience in every imaginable way, with a gorgeous environment and stunning food & beverages. Our host & server (the same gal) was excellent, and the bartenders were slaying every order. We tried an assortment of drinks and every single one of them was exceptionally crafted, with intriguing flavor combinations for some that I can honestly say I've never come across before; some were more to my liking than others, but it was never a struggle to get through any order. There's a wide assortment whether you're looking for something more spirit-forward (like the Shelby Company Ltd or the Old Fashioned--try it smoked), sophisticated & surprising (Taiyo Reimagined), or elegant and refreshing (The Ada). The food was beautiful and tasty, but every single plate was served warm-to-quickly-cooling, which was an absolute shame because I know they would have tasted like out of this world outrageous had they come to us hot! It seemed to be served to us right as it came out, so this wasn't on our server. We loved the dinner rolls and only wished there were more of them. The bacon bourbon pumpkin bisque was an absolute star (though it had to be finished quickly as it lost its lukewarm temp, changing the consistency somewhat; not pleasant). Having seen reviews mentioning the fries we ordered them, and they were neat but just okay... could have used more salt, and again, had they been piping hot it would have been a lot tastier (but I can say it was a hefty basket of fries, for what it's worth). A solid four stars that could easily be a five once some of the kinks are hopefully worked out. Absolutely a place I'll come back to, and I really appreciated the Peaky Blinder's theme for the winter cocktails.

Yelp
Love it. Not perfect but a great place to enjoy good company and good cocktails in a stylish atmosphere. Staff is very helpful and appreciated.

Yelp
Alberto was so accomdating and gave great recommendations! Highly recommend dining here. XOXO

Yelp
The espresso martinis are delicious! I came here to have a few rounds of drinks with my girlfriends and we had a blast! We were celebrating and were brought absentee to our table with a huge puff of cotton candy on top! I've never had absentee but whoa it's strong. We also ordered the flatbread. Food was good but the drinks were great!

Dawn D.

Yelp
The good: the food was delicious. A small menu, but superbly executed. The vibes were great, and our server was attentive and friendly. The okay: the drinks were good, the serving sizes were small, but the flavors innovative and tasty. The Bad: we were seated in the back table, as a party of 7. About halfway through our meal, a man stood up from a bar table and backed into a very large metal vase. It was placed in an opening between our table and his. It crashed through the opening onto the back of one of our party. The man apologized and the server picked up the vase and put it on the floor by the bar. An employee asked if she was okay and my friend said "kind of, it hurt!" That was the end of it, no follow up. That's okay, although a desert or something would have been a nice gesture. I'm actually writing this review because one of our party went back the next night and the vase was back in the same spot! She didn't say anything but I had a text from our mutual friend saying her back really hurt this morning. I found a picture here showing the vase and where it's located. If the manager or owner monitors this site I'm hoping they will see this and remove it and replace it with something less dangerous, if it had hit my friend in the head it could have done some real damage.

Yelp
Walk ins for parties less than 6 people. We visited on a Friday evening and got seated right away. There's street and lot parking nearby and easy access, plus restrooms available. There is no nametag/sign outside but it's adjacent to/located to the side of the cellar. It's mostly bar seating with a few tables for parties of 2s and 4s. Food and drinks are alright. For food, we got the flatbread and the scallops both alright, the flatbread was very dense and toppings scarce, the scallops were cooked well but farro served with it was just ok, bare. Drinks we tried rated best to ok are listed as follows: Aberama gold, Birmingham fog, grace's secret, romani vision, curse of the sapphire. The latter are more alc. forward so more bitter.

Yelp
Came here a few years ago on an anniversary trip! We had so much fun at this bar with the unique drinks and quick service even though they were busy! I was bummed when we came back over 4th of July weekend this year and they were closed through the whole weekend.
google avatar

Bianca H.

Yelp
This place was such a vibe! I love the lighting the decor the drinks are incredible. I had a goodnight Irene and it was soooo good. Food was tasty not a lot of options on the food menu but what they have is great! The service was good our server was nice and attentive. Will definitely be going again!

Yelp
Months have passed by and still this is THE SPOT. If you want a mediocre drink for a dollar less, you can go anywhere else in town; if you care about it, come here. Great drinks, awsome location, unique service. Food is great too, dig in!
google avatar

Mandy T.

Yelp
We came here for drinks Sat night and I had one of my favorite cocktails ever here. It was the Aberama Gold. It was so unique with the toasted coconut in it. Ben really liked the Shelby company limited, which is spirit forward.

Allyson P.

Yelp
I'm so sad to say that my friends and I were just not impressed with this bar's drinks. The location, decor, hospitality - all great. They really have all of the ingredients needed to make this spot a must-go, but the drinks really fell short. The bar is relatively small and ambiance is great. When we walked in we were offered seat at the bar, but after a couple minutes a table on the patio opened up and the hostess was kind enough to move us outside. Between the three of us we ordered the Wendy Wilde, Aldo Raine, and Reckless Endangerment from the summer menu. They were all... okay. I think everyone's favorite of these was the Reckless Endangerment. We are are very much in to spirit forward cocktails, but the other two just didn't seem very balanced and we both sipped on them very slowly. For our second round I decided to go with a safer, more classic option and chose the Aviation - one of my favorites. My friends ordered an espresso martini and an Old Cuban. My "Aviation" showed up and was a bright blue (like it had blue curacao in it maybe?) and was garnished with a blackberry - Aviations are usually a clearish-purple color and garnished with a cherry. I gave it a try but it didn't taste even remotely the way it should. When the waitress came back to check on us, I let her know that I really didn't like my drink. She was very kind and offered to bring me something else, and assured me to not feel bad because they were out of one of the main ingredients and improvised. I felt like they should have told me that they were out of the ingredient before making the drink so I could decide on something else. As my replacement, I ordered an Espresso Martini which was so yummy but uses cold brew instead of espresso (this is noted on their menu though). This drink was a little on the sweet side but still really good. Maybe there was a new bartender when we went? I wouldn't be opposed it giving it another shot sometime in the future.

Yelp
Is there a sign posted for "21 and older"? Does the hostess inquiry at entry if everyone in your party is 21 or older? No to both..... We decided to give this place another try after previous bad customer service experienced and they did not disappoint with repeat performance. So many other great places to try in San Clemente, don't bother with this one.
google avatar

Ashley O.

Yelp
As someone who appreciates a good craft cocktail, that with is liquid art in a artful vessel... this place stole my heart as did the guys behind the bar. Bar backs and bartenders don't truly get enough cred. And in an honored to had had the pleasurable experience I endured. Humbly, I thank you! I will be back!
google avatar

Alana Y.

Yelp
We absolutely LOVE Jane! It's a go-to for Date Nights. Such a fun, intimate atmosphere with beautiful unique glassware for the beverages (our friends who ordered champagne said they felt very Gatsby & another got a drink in a glass honey bear! The tiki cups are cute & the whisky glasses have a great weight to them). Great craft cocktails! We never order fries BUT we have been hearing from so many that they are THE BEST so we ordered some... they are legit (from people who don't eat fries even). Ask for extra seasoning. The house made ranch is amazing with them! For a healthier light option, the flavorful Thai soup is a hit. The hostess Isabelle was lovely, and Dylan the manager is great. Did you know he's related to Winston Churchill? Also, Maddie, Adrian & Lily were so fun too. Adrian made us custom drinks (If you're feeling adventurous) based off what we like that were phenomenal. A little gem in San Clemente for when you're wanting something different. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Enjoy frequenting Jane when solo on my business trips. Berto behind the bar is super friendly and accommodating. That applies to all the staff as well. Cocktails can be modified to your liking!

Nicole S.

Yelp
Alberto was a king we loved him 10/10. When i told him i was cold he turned the air off for us!

Matthew J.

Yelp
Bar manager was very nice and polite. Explained all the cocktails to us and really made the experience personable. Was my first time and really enjoyed it!

Yelp
We sat at the bar; I ordered a lemon drop martini. Small size, weak, and NO sugar rim(!) Are you kidding? It's the best part of the drink! My husband ordered Tito's and soda with lime. Although I was sitting there with my drink, ready to toast, his drink was held up by the bartender chatting with a co-worker and another patron at the end of the bar. Really??? The place was practically empty. Poor service for sure. A second bartender appeared to be pouring shots for himself (?) We got outta there with a tab of $30. What a waste of a cute place with potential.

Yelp
My favorite place to get a cocktail! The bartenders always take their time to help you pick out the right drink for you and their selection is so unique! I love the small intimate vibe. Jane is perfect for a date night or catching up with a friend. The Irish coffee with miso foam is my go to drink for a chilly California night. Everyone should stop in and try this gem of a bar. Cheers!
