London’s New Restaurant Openings

"Jang is one of the two new restaurants opening in The Royal Exchange. The plush red velvet dining room will be open all day, from breakfast—Korean fried chicken on potato waffles, okonomiyaki eggs benedict with yuzu hollandaise—to K-BBQ in the evening. The menu takes inspiration from Korean and Japanese cuisine, and the cocktail menu includes shiso-infused gins, yuzu sake, and dragon fruit dust. " - sinead cranna, rianne shlebak

Nice surroundings in a historic building. We went for the set menu, the food was nicely presented. Sushi was japanese & not the cooked variety they have in Korea. Toilets were not near, but in the public domain on the other side of the building.

A Culinary Masterpiece! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Absolutely exceptional dining experience. From the moment we walked in, the ambiance was elegant and inviting, with a perfect blend of modern sophistication and traditional Korean charm. The staff were incredibly attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel truly special throughout the evening. The food was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish was a masterpiece, beautifully presented and bursting with authentic flavors. The Hamachi tartare was so delicate and full of flavour. The beef tartare so perfectly seasoned in Korean style. Not to mention that the freshness of the Sushi! The fish was just so fresh that would melt like butter and the chef’s attention to details & high-quality ingredients can be noticed at first bite - truly sets this restaurant apart. As of the main courses we tried their Turbot, the Iberico Bossam Tower and the Korean BBQ. 10/10 all of them. An explosion of flavours we are so happy to have tried. The wine pairings were also expertly curated, enhancing the overall experience. They also have a selection of traditional Soju. Also, did I mention THE VIEW? Just wow, go and have a look, just so beautiful inside the Royal Exchange! Overall, it was such a culinary journey we won’t forget, and I cannot recommend this restaurant enough for anyone looking for an unforgettable fine dining experience. We’ll definitely be returning soon!

I had been anticipating my visit to Jang Restaurant at Royal Exchange and it was an absolute delight to dine there and experience such warm hospitality. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the gracious welcome and the expert knowledge of every team member we encountered. The entire evening was truly sublime, from beginning to end. A special mention must go to the whole Culinary and Front of House teams, who delivered outstanding food and drink service throughout the evening, notably Brayan, Neda, Rebecca and Nicoletta. Their excellence and attention to detail were impeccable. The food was exquisite, and the cocktails were equally delightful, all elevated by the first-class service provided by the entire team. We are already looking forward to our next visit in the near future. Thank you once again and I look forward to returning very soon. Marco De Simone MIH

I went in for lunch and I had the Steak Tartare for a starter and the BBQ duck for main. Both were amazing. The Tartare was on the spicy side, for me, but was very tasty. The duck was fantastic. A little bit pink over a smouldering ember. The different sauces that came with it were fun but the duck on its own was delicious. The service was on the leisurely side but very welcoming and friendly. I would 100% go back but I would like to try dinner. Absolutely recommended.

My sister and I stopped by as a part of our mini tour around the city, we stumbled into the restaurant. It was really beautiful. The vibes are so warm and cosy and we had a lovely server named Neda, she is very accommodating. Excellent service!

Very impressed. My mum and I had our annual Christmas meal here, opting for the set lunch. I had the sushi to start, followed by the steak. Having recently returned from a trip to Japan, I can confidently say that in the six months I’ve been back, this is the best sushi I’ve had and the closest to what I experienced in Japan. The steak, despite being bavette, was incredibly tender and paired beautifully with the chilli butter and pak choi. However, I would’ve definitely ordered a side of rice to accompany it. My one regret is not trying a dessert, but as I was in a rush, it just means I’ll have to come back! The set menu was excellent value for money, and the service was impeccable—very attentive, with water promptly poured, napkins folded when leaving the table, and any questions answered helpfully. The atmosphere was lovely—bustling with energy, as you’d expect in the Royal Exchange, and the music was at a good volume. That said, they could definitely improve the temperature in the space, perhaps with heaters, as it was quite cold. But the food was so good I was happy to overlook it.

It was the first time I have ever had a steak tartare prepared that way, but I was blown away and loved every single bite. Beautifully located in a historical building, and the staff does their job perfectly. Perfect restaurant for a treat yourself night out.

Tried sushi and iberico bossam. The bossam was pretty good and especially they put a lot of effort on plating. Tastes good and looking good. Recommended for someone who wants to treat their guests authentic Korean. Quite pricy.
