"Perched above the city, this viewpoint lays out Rome like a living tapestry, the Tiber weaving through terracotta roofs and domes; as dusk falls, golden hues bathe the scene for a perfect capture. Don’t overlook the wall itself—its detailed inscriptions and bold design tell a story—and many shots feature visitors sitting on the edge, gazing over the Eternal City for a contemporary twist on a historic panorama." - The MICHELIN Guide
"This is a leisurely stroll beginning in Trastevere and winding up via Garibaldi to the top of Janiculum Hill. The mood changes from urban at the beginning to monumental at the end; it's a bit of work, but rewards those willing to do it with a unique perspective on Roman history and some of the best views of the city. Best to do the walk during the day, or early in the morning if it's summer. If you're on a tight schedule, don't want to brave the hill in the heat, or just want to get a view, skip the hike and take a taxi directly to Piazzale Garibaldi." - Katie Parla, Maresa Manara
"A romantic hill rising behind Trastevere that rewards visitors with sweeping panoramic views across rooftops, ancient ruins, monuments and Baroque domes — a favored spot for atmospheric vistas." - SilverKris
On strolling up to the top of the hill, you can visit a very old church and several spots that give you a panoramic view of Rome. St. Peter's dome is in the line of sight through the trees. A very nice place to visit while in town. Not many tourists so you can have all the time you want.

Difficult to reach on foot as it is on top of a hill. Easy to reach by car or bus. Very beautiful monument .A big garden nearby. You can take nice sunset view photos and enjoy a small snack or a soft drink sitting in the edge. ( no cafe). Cool breeze. There is usually someone playing music.

Well worth the hike and to watch the cannon fire.
Loos are also €1 but they are very clean and well stocked. Very nice.

Great spot for a sunset, people there with stands for beer. Often buskers too for atmosphere, definitely the best evening we finished in Rome before heading to the Square for a sing along and dance

Perfect place to watch both sunrise and sunset. It does get quite busy for sunset but since it’s a large overlook there are plenty of places you can see the Sun from.
My friend mentioned that the trees are a bit in the way but we were a 15 minute walk from the hill so it was the perfect location for me.
Barely anyone was there for sunrise so it was a very peaceful moment for me and my friend. I recommend getting there at least 30 minutes early if you want to see all of the different sky changes.
If you’re ever there for Festa della Repubblica you can also see the jets fly over with the flag colors from the hill.

Very nice overlook of Rome. Trees have grown to inhibit views from some areas. Many people enjoying the evening.
