One of the best breakfast spots in the city. Classic flavors, fresh ingredients. Food comes out quick and really thoughtful, attentive service. The employees are the best. Always leave here with a clean plate and special thanks to this place for always being so accommodating to kids. It keeps us coming back.

Amazing spot for both breakfast and lunch! The food is absolutely delicious, with a big menu full of great options. Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The service was outstanding—quick, friendly, and professional. Edgar was our server and truly made the experience perfect. Can’t wait to come back!

Chicago Restaurant, Janik's Cafe with owner, Felippa Janik and her husband Wayne, is a true embodiment of the American dream, where two cultures blend in perfect harmony, as they are from Italy and Venezuela. They beautifully integrate their past within their menu, creating a culinary experience that will leave you inspired. Moe had the best steak and eggs and I had a real treat, a fresh toasty waffle with whipped cream and fresh strawberries, a truly uplifting experience. They are opening for dinner Thursday through Saturday starting in May, a testament to their perseverance and dedication. Heading back to San Antonio tomorrow, I am filled with gratitude and excitement for the next leg of our journey. We will head to Charleston, South Carolina on the 5th with our friends, eager to explore new culinary delights and share more restaurant reviews to come.

Spacious, great atmosphere. Bright and colorful, especially on a sunny spring day. The staff was super attentive and the owner was our server - she was so warm and welcoming and gave great recommendations. Definitely would return. The chilaquiles were incredible.

The skirt steak was 10/10!! I ordered mine medium well & it was perfectly cooked. Potatoes and eggs were also really good! First there and the service was great. Parking was the only sucky part, but there’s a hospital nearby with free street parking if you don’t mind walking.

This was our first time here and after having their delicious food, but will be certainly coming back. We had the Country fried chicken with the biscuits and gravy and the crispy potatoes which was phenomenal, and we also had the Chilaquiles with Steak -which has an up charge, but very worth it- and they were also very tasty. We were satisfied with both option. Can’t wait to come back and try more of their extensive menu. The staff is very friendly and attentive and we even got to talk to the owner who was invested in making sure we were taken care of.

Janik’s Café is a warm, welcoming neighborhood spot run by Felippa and Wayne Janik—a couple whose roots in Italy and Venezuela bring a unique, personal touch to everything they serve. Their menu blends comfort and heritage in a way that feels both homey and thoughtful. It was the perfect place to bring my dad on his first visit to Chicago—our meals were satisfying, and the genuine hospitality made the experience even more memorable. Starting in May, they’ll be open for dinner Thursday through Saturday, a reflection of their hard work and growing community support.

This place has a good variety of options, and both breakfast and lunch are available all day. My friend ordered the steak taco, which was pretty tasty, and the grilled salmon was cooked just right. The café latte was not bad either. Overall, it’s a nice place for quick lunch or breakfast but the ambience was not the best for sitting down meals. Another good thing about it was that the waiters were very friendly and welcoming.
