Janine in Montreal is an absolute gem for breakfast enthusiasts! From the moment I stepped in, I was greeted with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. The food was not only delicious but also beautifully presented, making each dish a true delight for the taste buds. The waitresses were not only polite but also incredibly responsible, ensuring a seamless dining experience. Whether you're craving classics or seeking something new, Janine's menu offers a delightful array of options to satisfy any palate. I can't wait to return for another delightful breakfast at Janine!

This charming spot is one you'll be eager to revisit with friends. The staff here is not just friendly—they're professionals, dedicated to providing top-notch service. As soon as you walk through the door, you're greeted by their passion and attention to detail. Whether it's their delicious coffee, delightful dishes, or mouthwaterikg desserts, everything is exceptional. While Montreal has many brunch options, it's the quality food, remarkable service, and genuine care here that truly sets them apart.

If you love going out for brunch, I highly recommend this place. A true gem in Montreal. This place has one of the best interior decors I've ever seen. Perfect to go on a date or even a cute brunch outing with friends. Our waitress was so helpful and very friendly. The food was beyond amazing and the presentation over all is exceptional. They offer drinks as well, and have a buy 3, get 1 free mimosa deal! The place gets packed quickly, so I strongly suggest making a reservation before coming. The prices for meals alone go around 20-25$. It can get hard to find free parking because they are located near a busy area, so if you plan on coming by car, there's a big chance you'd have to do paid parking on the streets. Beautiful and lovely place, will definitely be coming back!

One of the best brunch I have ever had, we ordered a bunch of dishes, they were all really good. The best of all is their carrot cake, it is a must try dessert from them. It is moist, not too sweet and just right! One of the best carrot cake I have ever had! If you are from NYC area or Queens area, I am sure you probably had Martha’s carrot cakes there, this carrot cake would blow Martha’s carrot cake away hands down. Besides that, all of the dishes we have ordered were unique, tasty, and flavorful! Service was impeccable, attentive and informative. If I went in describing all of the dishes, I would probably write a novel about it. LOL. Enough said, enjoy the pictures. We will be back one of these days!

Google
Unique atmosphere with very specifically crafted meals. As a vegetarian/vegan, there are not a lot of options as the menu tends more towards meat and fish. I tried a vegan spread on bread and was mostly unimpressed. I was satisfied with the food and was full as the portions are very generous. My friend’s food on the other hand, another vegetarian option, was great! Overall, there’s something here for everyone, just be prepared to pay more for presentation and some genuinely unique food pairings and ideas. Just note, the options available may not be right for you. If you’re looking for an interesting place to gamble on, I recommend!

Google
One of the best brunch places in Montreal!! The food was delicious, the restaurant is beautiful and the staff were very attentive. Would come back anytime! They also have great gluten free options for those who are allergic and the staff treated the allergy seriously (they toast the gluten free bread in a separate toaster, warned about potential gluten items, etc).

There are so many reasons this café is so loved. The variety, originality and quality of their food offerings are exceptional. The service is attentive, warm and well paced. The atmosphere is always convivial, low key, comfortable. The best café au lait! We enjoyed the Zucchini Loaf with Poached Eggs and the Waffles with Fried Chicken. Portions are generous. Price point is accurate. Note: even on a Monday this spot is busy; no lineups or waiting but busy nonetheless. So, we went for 10:00, no reservations, and were seated immediately.

Yelp
Food and service are good. The pulled ham is delicious. Juice and cappuccino are fantastic. Carrot cake, cinnamon roll and others pastry are authentic. Food overall is unexpected delicious. The service is good too. For instance, we were lining up outside. I remembered was cold that morning. They served hot chocolate crapes for the lining up customers while waiting for a table.

Yelp
Waited for about 30 minutes on a Sunday at 11 am. There's no reservations whatsoever, at least on the weekends and holidays, to my understanding. The place seems to attract tourists and locals alike, their special dishes are recommended for the usual regular customers, suggesting that a huge portion of their customers are returning customers. Our hostess was great. Very sweet and welcoming and patient in explaining the menu to us. We left her a very high amount of gratuity tip just because she went above and beyond and it was clear she was happy at what she does. Overall, see recommended dishes in my pictures below. Highly recommended this place for tourists and locals alike.

Yelp
Had brunch here on my last day in Montreal. Glad the wait wasn't too bad because the food was just mediocre. Loved that they gave each of us a shot of juice when we sat down; it made us look forward to our experience here. Strawberry smoothie - nothing special about it but it's a decent smoothie. Odd that they garnished it with a slice of orange. Carrot cake - Was a bit afraid when it came because the slice was much bigger than I hoped since I don't care much for carrot cakes. But this one had the perfect balance of sweetness, density, frosting, and texture. My whole group of 7 shared this and it was the perfect amount. French toast (came with cherry and almond jam, mascarpone cream, berries, caramelized cashews) - A letdown through and through. The brioche toast made it difficult to want to keep chewing. The best part about this dish was the strawberries, sadly.

Yelp
I've been coming here (and on occasion the sister restaurant Regine Café) since they first opened back in 2019. Even though the prices, like everywhere else, have gone up by as much as 40% since the pre-pandemic days, this is the one place that I feel is justified. The service is always courteous, professional and friendly. The food is always on point! Just want to give kudos to a restaurant done right! I've had a bunch of items on their menu repeatedly and have always been 100% satisfied.

Yelp
Came here for brunch. There was a line outside and we arrived about an hr after they open. We didnt have to wait too long luckily. The service was excellent and our food was delicious. We got the juice sampler. The green juice was our favorite! Everything was good except for the ham, it was a tad on the salty side. I didn't care for it but other than that the food was amazing! Would recommend!

Yelp
amazing brunch and not the traditional with just French toast, omelets, pancakes, etc. It also have a great variety of tasty dishes to choose from. Heard this is the sister restaurant of Regine Cafe in Beaubien We got here at 12 noon on Sunday for a party of 5 and waited for an hour, it is well worth the wait. If you come when it opens or around 2pm close to closing time, the line would be shorter. The fruit cocktails are amazing, we loved both the orange peach one, as well as the raspberry pear one. They are freshly squeezed, very refreshing for the summer. The hot chocolate is also very good, get the bowl that come with marshmallow We especially liked the champi dish, the mushroom is very tasty, the bread is a bit hard to cut and chew their poached egg is amazing, and you can upgrade it to a Scotch egg, which has a semi-liquid core and a slightly spicy sausage wrapped around it and crispy crumbs on the outside the foie gras sausage is amazing, just the right amount of foie gras the Latke is lightly fried, and the smoked salmon is very fresh. Also loved the variety of fresh herb they put on top, very refreshing for the summer the oeuf et boeuf one is great too, loved the combo of caramelized onion and pulled pork cheek, the mashed potato is very good amazing services too! they have the kids menu in a coloring page, and provide some crayons for kids to draw on

Yelp
Lovely brunch spot. Had the pulled beef Benedict while my daughter had the pancakes. The latter was particularly outstanding. Good coffee and juice as well. One quibble: at the margin, I'd have preferred smaller portions and lower prices. The restaurant staff was very friendly and professional too.

Yelp
This is a highly recommended brunch restaurant that excels in all aspects, and it's one of my favorite restaurants in Montreal. We ordered the Gros Jambon and gaufre et poulet frit, both of which were absolutely delicious and dishes that we would love to try again. The portion sizes are just right, not too much or too little. The Gros Jambon is made with pulled ham, bacon, two eggs, and toast. We upgraded our eggs to soft-boiled eggs coated with chorizo and panko. Although it wasn't particularly stunning, it was still incredibly tasty. Additionally, the baked beans, which are typically unremarkable, were surprisingly good. They were homemade and slightly sweet, and they were the best baked beans I've ever had. The gaufre et poulet frit was a pleasant surprise because it's not often that waffles are paired with a main dish. However, it was a great match with their fried chicken. Both were slightly sweet, and the sauce had a slight kick, adding even more flavor. We loved the entire dish. The servers were very attentive and provided excellent service. They greeted us with a small specialty drink and introduced us to their beverage options. They also asked us if we enjoyed their dishes during our meal. The restaurant's environment is upscale and beautiful, making it a great place to enjoy a comfortable and delicious brunch. I highly recommend this restaurant. I am very look forward to visiting again and try the desserts. :)

Yelp
What a beautiful spot to start your day! The food is an art with extravagant flavours! Pleasant service as well. My family loved it!

Yelp
Best breakfast restaurant in the city as far as I can tell. Be prepared to wait in line on the weekend or you can reserve on week days. Our group of four all had the eggs, bacon & ham breakfast with a shared platter of pastries. In my opinion it was a lot. I'd recommend trying one of their pastries, they taste like they're from a high end bakery. Its something you don't see at other breakfast places

Yelp
Amazing brunch place in Montreal. Please keep in mind no reservation, first come first serve. People is willing to stand outside for 20 - 30 mins for a brunch without complaints. Yes, Janine Cafe is the one! Number one in Verdun, Montreal. It is not near downtown Montreal, more like a local brunch spot than visitors brunch spot. We ordered Latkes, Champi, and Gaufre Petits Fruits. Both Latkes and Champi are their signature dishes. If you enjoy having smoke salmon, take the Latkes. If you love mushroom, take the Champi. If you love waffle with fresh fruits and chocolate sauce, take the Gaufre Petits Fruits. They are all amazing and will give you a WOW factor. I am not living in Montreal, but I even willing to drive down Janine Cafe for a second time brunch before I left Montreal.

Yelp
Knowing it is the same owner of Refine Cafe, I've wanted to try here forever. Finaly got a chance to try it yesterday! Like Regine cafe, they don't disappoint although the menu is quite similar. I took the mushroom poached egg, it was heavy but so delicious and my boyfriend had the Gros Jambon which like a traditional breaksfast meal but with more crafted ingredients. I arrived early so avoided the wait. As we were leaving there was a long line up outside.

Yelp
I'm a brunch person. It's my favourite meal. Janine's was a recommendation from à Verdun local, and I'm glad I listened. There was a queue to get in on a Friday morning at 11:00. The exceptional service was on display when they brought out mugs of warm tea for everyone waiting for a table. It was sweetened with a teaspoon of maple syrup. Yum! I had no trouble waiting the 20 minutes for a table. Once inside, the atmosphere was lovely. Funky decor and eclectic spaces kept the noise down and created a cozy ambiance. The menu is creative and varied enough for almost every palate. My friend had a croissant dish and I had something with poached eggs and a mountain of sautéed mushrooms. It was delicious. Of course, brunch isn't complete without a good bowl of café au lait (with oat milk). We didn't feel rushed. The wait staff was friendly and attentive. I'm still a little Covid cautious, and they seated us in a quiet corner. The price was reasonable and I would recommend it for a brunch that is a step up from regular pancakes or French toast.

Yelp
Best avocado toast I have ever had! Delicious eggs Benedict (NOT made with a Thomas' English muffin! Thank you!) Will be coming back again.

Yelp
It's all in the little attentions! I have been a big fan of Janine and Régine for years and unfortunately since I live further, was not able to get this for the past year. Last weekend we had a staycation downtown and were pleasantly surprised to see that Janine delivered there. Everything arrives on time, superbly packed with the sweetest attentions (see the note they left). Each plate had its sauces (it's all about the sauces) and they even packed their iconic smoothie shooter and fruit bowl! Even as takeout, this brunch was absolutely outstanding. Flavors and textures are perfect in each plate and will definitely wow you!

Yelp
Wow. My cousin lives in Verdun and when we decided to meet up for brunch before returning to Ottawa from Montreal, she recommended that we all meet up here to eat. The latte bowls were so good! I ordered the Doré, which was this wonderful brioche with peanut butter, bananas, and marscapone. We went during the week and the place was packed. We had to wait a little bit before we were seated but it is worth it.
google avatar

Narendgie M.

Yelp
Overall experience was good. Be prepared to wait 45mins to an 1h if you decide to go on the weekend like we did. But trust me it was worth the wait. As soon as you are seated you will definitely forget about the pain. I had the chic croissant and was automatically amazed by the spinach béchamel. My other party had the chicken and waffles and of course I tried it. Total success. The mimosas was worth every sip. I totally recommend!!

Yelp
Had brunch on Friday and it was exceptional. The homemade scones with lemon curd and blueberries was to die for. Drinks great. Food phenomenal. Very wide rage items. You cannot go wrong.

Yelp
Janine seems to be a very popular brunch destination. We went on a holiday and they were open later than usual. Since we came after noon, there was no line up though friends who had been by earlier said there had been a wait for tables. The daily 'cocktail' was fantastic. Fresh pineapple and orange juice with mint. I had the Brunch Végé and it was a good portion with lots of variety on the plate. My husband and sister both ordered the Champi. Poached eggs and delicious sautéed mushrooms. Would definitely recommend.
google avatar

Lyla M.

Yelp
They don't take brunch reservations, so we waited in line for 25 minutes. The staff run it like a well oiled machine. We sat at the bar. The staff brought us a little shot of peach juice. We had a spiced hot chocolate, a latte with an extra shot, pain brioche dore , waffles, and a scone for dessert which turned out to be savoury, which we weren't expecting. It took a little while to get our coffee and order (place was packed) but once we did it was quick. The food was uniformly excellent. If you can handle a lineup (ours was apparently shorter than usual because it was really cold), it's definitely worth it.

Yelp
I figured it out! GO ON WEEKDAYS lol. Such a lovely place and very nice service. My friend made reservations and forgot to mention that we will be having my son with me (with stroller). Usualy when I make reservations I always like to mention it so it's planned out for their service and day. However they were super accommodating and sweet about it. We started off with the a little bit of everything tower and I took the waffles and chicken. It was all so yummy and very high tea esk. Beautiful decor and I love how the windows are so BIG.. the lighting and ambiance was really perfect. I can't wait to come Back and try some less basic ( lol) stuff from their menu.

Yelp
Let's start with the positives 1) The hostess is amiable and the most hardworking person in that restaurant beside the kitchen people. 2) The café is absolutely stunning; it has a rustic vibe with elegance. 3) The service from our waiter was efficient. We were presented by welcome juice shots made with carrot, mango and tangerine. 4) Each dish was presented beautifully, they tasted all eloquently. Zucchini bread with poached eggs and cashew ricotta (B+); the loaf was humongous, so it was too intense but the concept is pretty cool. Latkes with poached egg and smoked salmon (A+) was the perfect dish; everything on the table blended well and the taste was amazing. Grilled Cheese with watercress and fresh fruits (A) was delicious, and the caramelized onions was a bonus, but the fruits were slightly bitter, mashed potatoes and scotch eggs (D) were wrong choices, it was simple choice but it was too heavy due to duck fat. 5) Reasonable price Now the negatives 1) The management didn't take the reservations into consideration; they forgot to see the list, so had to wait like other people 2) There were only two waiters for the overpacked restaurant with a big line up of customers, so therefore the service was running very slow. 3) There were few flies inside the restaurant 4) We had to wait 1 hour 10 minutes to get spot Conclusion: Recommended

Yelp
As we were leaving, the server stopped us and said we hadnt given as much tip as we "were supposed to" (he wasnt the one who served us?). Shamed us when i gave him my reasons and then went to shame us to the other staff while we were still within ear range. Our chances of returning went from probable to none. The food was alright but somewhat over-rated. I don't need to go to some wannabe-gentrified brunch nook on downtown wellington that apparently doesnt pay its staff enough to have a good time.
google avatar

Yelp
Worth the wait! We encountered a 30 minute line, but it's Sunday!!! And brunch is the next thing important thing to church! While waiting they brought us these warm pieces of Brioche with a caramel and cinnamon syrup. Janine is a very clean and nicely decorated cafe with pleasant service. The portions are pretty big so make sure you go on an empty stomach! I give my 5 stars on the food, decor and service!

Yelp
Régine café was my favourite bring spot so I was so excited to hear they were opening their sister cafe Janine. Since lines are long I've been trying to find the right day to go and due to the rainy forecast, today was the day! The interior of the restaurant is really beautiful and cozy. The tables are a nice distance from each other and our seats were ultra comfortable. The service was attentive and friendly. Despite the huge line outside the staff doesn't make you feel rushed. I also noticed that Janine is very kind friendly, they have high chairs and booster seats and even give families what looks like a black purse with crayons and markers. Today they had a special that was not on the menu: coconut begnets with lemon cream filling. We ordered that along with the sucre a la creme - crème brûlée yogurt, the croque matante and the latkes. The begnets were amazing, I wanted to eat a dozen of them. They were fluffy, not too greasy and packed with filling! I loved the latkes, they were so tasty and I loved he mayo pickle sauce that was spread on top. The found the smoked salmon portion of the dish to be more generous than other restaurants. But the real star for me was that crème brûlée yogurt. I've never considered making crème brûlée with yogurt, such a good idea! Next time I will certainly ordered the yogurt trio, which consists of crème brûlée style yogurts done with 3 bottom layers: sucre à la crème, lemon curd and banana cream. What I love most about Janine (and Regina Cafe) is their unique brunch menu. Their main dishes are interesting and portions large, they have a nice selection of coffee, cocktails, hot chocolates for all ages, hot toddies and a section for scones, crumpets and pastries. I love having these options in addition to the brunch dishes.

Yelp
The constant line up in front of this place assures you it is worth it. They will offer you some sort of sampler while you are waiting which doesn't make it seem so bad. Not only does it take 30+ min to get in, service is slow but this is expected considering its popularity so definitely don't come here if you're in a rush! Lots of options on their menu with dietary restrictions indicated (dairy and gluten). The food is very different from your classic brunch and that is what will keep me coming back! Their coffee is good but we weren't too impressed with the Caesar (except for all the toppings it came with). The food and decor was fantastic but unfortunately we found it quite messy. I don't mind waiting for a table if they need time to prepare it but they didn't bother to sweep underneath so there was toast and napkins on the floor.

Yelp
Janine is the younger sister of Cafe Regine, a wildly popular brunch place in the Petite Patrie neighbourhood. I love Regine but it has become a victim of its own success and on weekends the lines are long, very long. That is why I was ecstatic to learn that the owner of Regine had opened up another brunch place in the Verdun neighbourhood. Janine has the advantage of being located close to a metro station whereas Regine is a bit of a walk away from one. I had to check it out to see if it was as good as its older sister. After hearing so many positive things about Janine I was worried that there would be line-ups like the ones you get at Regine so we made it a point to get there early. Our group of 3 made it there for 10 and we waited only 10 minutes or so for a table. I have to say that even when we left there was a line up but nothing nightmarish. The inside of Janine features the same funky decor as its sister restaurant. The look is a bit retro and very colourful. Despite being 3 we were given a table that was really meant only for 2 so it was a bit cramped but everything else was fine. When we first sat down we were all given shot glasses of pineapple juice and ginger. It was refreshing and a way to cleanse the palate before the main event! For me that was a grilled cheese sandwich with duck confit and I just loved it. They used aged cheddar which gave it a sharp taste and there was also a generous helping of duck in the sandwich. It is clear that attention is paid to every aspect of your Janine experience. The waitstaff here are excellent. We had a very attentive waiter who knew the menu well and was very fun to interact with. It never took long to get coffee refills and everyone here serves you with a smile. It wouldn't surprise me if Janine ends up becoming as popular as its sister restaurant, which is why I am glad to have tried it now before the lines become insane. It has all it takes to succeed: good location, reasonable prices, excellent service and most importantly delicious food.

Yelp
This may be a new Sud Ouest staple. Bear in mind that I've never been to Regine cafe, so my experience is pretty isolated from any expectations based on their other business. I can say, however, compared to other vegan-friendly brunch places in the area these guys are killing it. Upon entering we were greeting both with a complimentary cup of tea and a little basil-lemon juice shot. Both were refreshing and kept me from getting grumpy about the wait. Once we sat down the cup of coffee that followed was also delicious. Speaking to the thorough welcome we received, I found the staff in general to be really kind and super on top of it. I have zero negative to say about the food: my courge bread plate was divine (that cashew ricotta and candies tomatoes really impressed me) and my man friend's veggie plate was really loaded with homemade vegan delights. We both left the resto stuffed but not feeling gross, which is a miracle in of itself. I really appreciate that they have several interesting veganizeable items on the menu so that plant-based pals don't have to always rely on the tofu scramble. These guys are clearly thinking long and hard about their brunch menu and it shows. Finally, I can't review Janine without mentioning how down-right beautiful this place is. It's definitely got the Pinterest porn thing going but while still keeping it real with humble or silly decor accents. Totally my kind of spot.

Yelp
Exceptional brunch spot. Chose it for an early morning birthday celebration. Upon entrance you'll love the decor, the ambience and the inviting staff. Pretty furniture and warm atmosphere. The food is as delicious too. Fairly priced for quality food. Abundant parking spots in a midweek day. Super nice waitress who helped us with the menu items as well as wrapping the remaining food.

Yelp
***5 out of 5 stars*** Tired of the regular eggs and bacon for brunch??? Try Janine Cafe! I particularly love brunches when I visit Montreal. When I heard a new one had just opened, as a foodie we need to check this place out! Janine Cafe is the sister restaurant of Regine Cafe located in the Verdun district. I have been to Regine before and their brunches are very innovative and original. Janine is basically the same as Regine, just a 2nd location. I ordered the Pain de courgette, which is a thick slice of zucchini bread topped with poached eggs, cashew ricotta, candied cherry tomatoes and Kalamata olives. My cousin ordered the Croque Matante, which is a rustic bread topped with pulled ham, sautéed leeks, poached eggs smothered with blue cheese sauce. They also have an impressive homemade bakery section in front of the restaurant. We also ordered scone with lemon curd on the side. Food was excellent and service was very attentive, coffee were often refilled without us asking. One of the best brunch places in Montreal.

Yelp
I can't believe it took me THIS LONG to discover this PRECIOUS little brunch paradise. I went there a while ago with my boyfriend and man did we almost break up so we could marry this Janine person and eat her brunch forever. LOL Not only the place is cute and authentic, which I absolute love, but the service is amazing and the food beyond delicious. I have a soft spot for plces that embrace a specific style of decor and go full out so Janine really got a special place in my heart because they did just that. The ambiance is elevated bbut not pretencious and you feell fancy without spending more than your average brunch budget. The menu was overall an authentic spin on brunch classics which I also love. The service is amazing, we had to wait a bit in line (as its expected from good brunch places) and during the line we got ttwoo rounds of treats, coffee and cinnamon buns, while wee waited, which was a pleasant surprise and made the wait in the cold a lot less annoying. I wish I had taken photos of the food but we were so hungry we ate them before I remembered to register it, so I guess I'll leave you hanging on this one but hopefully you can get a good sneak peak from less hungry, more patient Yelpers :D

Yelp
Really cozy and stylish brunch place. Every dish is outstanding. Love their food and service. Go there early on weekends coz lineups get around 10am.

Yelp
Tried the latkes today and it was delicious. The smoked salmon was good and not too salty. The pickled onions were perfectly sour and sweet. The combination of everything together included the yogourt sauce was amazing. The lineup was long like usual. We arrived at around 9:45 and waited 25 minutes for a table for 3. The service is still great and they still offer free samples of their cinnamon rolls while you wait in line. Glad I gave it another try!

Yelp
Love this café! I went to Regine once and I prefer the food at this restaurant. Also this place is a lot closer to where I live so it is easier to get to. It was a cold Sunday morning and there was a lineup. The wait is a lot faster when you are only two because it is easier to get a table for two people. However we were four people. The guy said the wait would be an hour but it felt like a lot less. I don't remember how long we waited for but it really wasn't that bad. Also the guy was nice and brought out tea, coffee and blankets for those waiting in line outside. I had the hangover Caesar which was strong and topped with a ton of regular potato chips. So delicious!!! We also all got a small free fruit juice when we sat down which was nice. I had the zucchini bread with candied cherry tomatoes, cashew ricotta, Kalamata olives, caramel and two poached eggs with watercress on the side. I also added the Gaspor's bacon for an extra $3. Also I added a scotch egg on top that for another $3 because seeing my friend and boyfriend order one made me want one too and my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I never had one before but it was good. For those who don't know what a scotch egg is. It is a boiled egg surrounded by sausage meat and coated in breaded crumbs. One friend ordered the Doré which is homemade brioche bread, with marscapone cream, banana caramel, banana, dates, pecans and popcorn. It looked so good. My friend really enjoyed it but then said after awhile it became too sweet for him. My boyfriend had the gros jambon which consisted of scotch eggs, pulled ham, Gaspor's bacon, baked beans, potatoes, fresh fruits, baguette and homemade creton. He seemed to really enjoy it because he said his plate was so good like 4 times! Another friend got the potatoes and beetroot latkes, smoked mackerel and miso yogurt with a scotch egg and pickled beets with watercress on the side. I didn't try his dish but he did say the food was good. I would come back here. The food is good and the décor is nice! Highly recommend!

Yelp
Very good brunch place but be prepared to wait for at least an hour until you are seated. Usually they will serve you juice in line. Their lattes are divine, it's worth it to get the larger size. I usually get the Champi with the gluten free option. They are really good with intolerance to dairy or gluten, just be sure to let them know. If they have scones left, and you don't have intolerances, you must get one!

Yelp
30 minute wait in 10F weather- but you know that before you stand in line. So that is your choice. They brought out tidbits and hot tea to those in line and also provided a certain number of blankets, all of which I thought was very nice. The menu is varied and enticing. All the food was excellent quality, but the particular ingredient combinations in each plate did not really work together well. My friend and I split the Pain de Courgettes (zucchini bread- sweet- with olives, tomatoes, cashew ricotta, eggs) and Champi (chewy bread, mushrooms, mashed potatoes, eggs). Server was great, but disappeared for a little bit. The place was busy enough that I wouldn't be surprised. I particularly enjoyed the decor, not sure how to characterize it- empty picture frames, chandeliers, tin ceiling. Very glad to have visited, but not good enough to go back for the price 24 Canadian dollars per person for a breakfast platter and a coffee, including tax but before tip.

Yelp
I had a wonderful experience at this super cute and chic brunch spot. Wellington has some great restos and I've just added this one to my favourites list. I did not make reservations for brunch and luckily I did not have to wait in line to be seated. I was here with a friend during the week. However it did fill up fast. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, I couldn't get over it. There was lots if black and gold incorporated. The front part of the restaurant also has fresh baked goodies and cakes which looked divine. There was one magnificient cake that I saw as I was leaving and honestly I don't know if I could have finished it, but it looked gooood! We were welcomed with their daily special smoothie shot. It was wonderful and it had basil which we couldn't tell. I had a brioche plate, which I couldn't finish so I had it packed to go. It was very filling, just look at the size of the bread. There was mascarpone cheese, dates and banana. I loved it, and would definitely order again. I also had the "bowl" cappuccino with almond milk. There was a beautiful art design and it tasted great, not to bitter. My friend ordered latkes which she enjoyed but found the whole plate overall to salty. She also had a scene with 2 sorts of jam and a regular coffee. The scone had a different texture than she's used to but she did enjoy it. Overall service was great and so was the food. We were served in English and everything was well explained to us. Getting to this area is not easy because of the construction but finding parking shouldn't be too difficult.

Yelp
Of all the chicken and waffles, you've got the most pazazz Janine brunch, Cafe Regine's younger sister is a great option for those wanting to stay ouest of the island. Same quality and similar menu but slightly less of a wait time here.

Yelp
I ordered "a little bit of everything" and it came with a three tiered plate full of pastries, spreads, and slices of fresh fruit. I had enough for two meals and enjoyed everything on the plate. For $22 it was definitely good value. Our waiter was very knowledgable about the menu and the origin of the various ingredients. I would love to come back again and try more items.

Yelp
I didn't have a good experience at Janine Cafe, unfortunately. It started off alright. There was a lineup, which is to be expected for a cafe with so many high ratings on Yelp. I appreciated that the cafe served warm tea to people waiting outside for a seat. Nice touch. When we finally got inside, I was disappointed with the atmosphere. They seemed to have crammed as many tables as possible into the space. It was like boarding the subway during rush hour, except with fancier seats. When we managed to shuffle our way to the table to sit down, our table wobbled and (again, due to the lack of space) literally everyone who walked by us seemed to knock my chair. It was distracting at first, but soon became quite irritating. The noise of the place was also jarring. Oh, and our table was also way too small for all the stuff on it. Just sitting there was stressful. I assumed that the food must be incredible, given how sub-par the experience had been so far. When the food came is was mostly tasteless. I tried my best to find some reason to appreciate my meal, but the only remarkable thing about this meal was the price of it. I don't understand why this is a popular place to eat. Then the power went out. While this isn't their fault of course, they weren't equipped to take anything other than cash payment. Who carries cash these days? We were asked to either sit there and wait for the power to come back on or go to the bank, get cash, and return. Sheesh... There are ways to accept credit card payment without electricity, and I found myself shaking my head at how miserable this dining experience was. Also, the service wasn't particularly friendly. I don't recommend going here.

Yelp
Where can I start with Janine? With the super cute decor? The phenomenally delicious food? The service? Janine is definitely one of my favorite brunch places with the most delicious everything! Although anyone who knows me knows that I hate waiting in line for restaurants, I'd gladly wait (but not too long pleaseeee) to eat at Janine! Absolutely get their tower of heavenly bites and scones and curds - SO good. Their grilled cheese is yummy as is their mushroom dish (name is escaping my memory). Just trust me and visit Janine - pretty sure you won't regret it!

Yelp
This is the home-made brioche French toast plate. Its topped with mascarpone cream, banana, banana caramel, dates and pecan popcorn. This is by far one of the most delicious brunch plates I have ever had. If you're looking for something sweet to satisfy and definitely fill you up, this plate is it. The cafe was so cute, very similar to Regine Cafe obviously, and I am impressed with both. The vintage and chic cafe was very Insta worthy, but seriously... nothing tops this plate.

Yelp
i'm kinda picky when it comes to a good brunch. it has to be quality and made with intention and a bit different from other brunch spots. this place is amazing!! very good coffee and super good food!! staff was super sweet.

Yelp
I just love the experience at Janine and Régine. The decor set a whole atmosphere and the staff is chipper. The plates are a little heavy on bread-things but, gosh golly everything tastes amazing. I've been to both locations multiple times, and it's a solid good time each time.

Yelp
This is definitely my favorite brunch place in town. Discovered it by chance while walking on Wellington Street and got caught by the intimate vibe of it. The next day I went there for a brunch and I the only thing I regret is not have been there before. There was a line by the time I got there, 9:30 on a Sunday morning, but it didn't take that long for us to get a place inside. The staff is super friendly, and they even brought us warm tea during the line wait (it was a cold morning). The waiter who was serving us was very cheerful, and suggested a few things. We got a shot of pinneaple juice with ginger as soon as we were sat at the table and it was delicious. I choose the hot chocolate, and the homemade marshmallows that came with it was the best one I've ever had! I think it was homemade, because it melted in my mouth. My food was absolutely delicious! A must go in Montreal!

Yelp
Since this place as open I have been meaning to go there and try it, but the line up was always too long and I am not very patient. Some day I went in (after closing time didn't know) and the guys told me they were closed, I asked if I could only get a coffee and not only did he accepted, made it to go, but he didn't even charged for it. So I went back a week day, I had a great service by the same guy (probably the manager since he wears a different shirt), I ordered the vegetarian brunch, and gosh was I supposed how good it was, the tofus was frankly delicious, I liked everything about it. Also they give you that small vitamins shots at the beginning, sooooo good. I will definitely come back ! And it's really not that expensive either :)
