As someone who hunts down the best pastries and sweet treats in every city they visit, Janjou was at the top of my list when visiting Boise. The texture of the laminate pastry was exceptional and each item they craft looks almost too good to eat. I was pleasantly surprised to find the coffee also exceeded my expectations; dialed to perfection and with expert level microfoam. I will be dreaming about this place and eager to return when I get the chance!

We are big foodies, and this place was top of my list to check out during our visit to Boise. It did not disappoint. The flavors are punchy, the textures were just right. Really creative combinations as well. Will probably stop here again before we leave because it was that good! Highly recommend. the Malabi brioche bun was a revelation 🤤and the rice pudding croissant was insane.

Very good desserts. Had the hazelnut croissant and tasted exactly like a hazelnut. The croissant itself was very flavorful and had many crispy layers that added to the texture. My sister and grandpa both had the mocha and they liked it a lot as well saying it was the best mocha they had

THE BEST pastries in the Valley, hands down. Everything is freshly baked and once it’s gone, that’s it—and trust me, everything will be gone if you don’t get there early enough! Normally I always go for their chocolate croissants because they’re made perfectly. Flaky, crisp layers with a fluffier inside and just the right amount of chocolate. Recently though I decided to be adventurous and had this fruit tart with some sort of cream filling…it was so good I almost cried. It’s all I’ll ever get now. Nothing can top it, surely? Since I needed some protein though I did also get their chicken salad “sandwich” which was really expensive but pretty damn delicious. For both I spent like $27 I think…it is pricey, but I promise you their baked goods are worth it. The interior is small and there’s not a lot of seating—be prepared to take your food to go or perhaps sit outside where they have more seating.

The pastries were definitely worth the wait. Had to wait outside until line was moving but it wasn’t too long of a wait. The selection was very good. Only reason why it’s a 4 star is their selection in what they serve the coffee in as it was difficult to hold due to it being hot. Overall the experience was great and the pastries tasted out of this world good. Will most definitely make a second trip to this place.

One of the best bakery's I've been to. I got a feta croissant and a few desserts, too many to name 😅 We were a party of four. The food was amazing, and they have option for to go or dine in. The inside is very small and only allows 6 people (not including those sitting at a table). We waited for about 15-20 mins, and we got there around 11:00. I recommend getting there earlier because some of the items were out of stock. Very cute place, and if there isn't any seats inside there are a few tables outside ☺️

Jan Jou is in a class of its own. Honestly, writing a review almost feels pointless because so many already say exactly how amazing this bakery is—but it really does live up to the hype. The almond croissant is my personal favorite—flaky, rich, and perfectly balanced—but everything I’ve tried has been incredible. You’ll want to get there early to have your pick; things sell out quickly, and for good reason. The outdoor seating is tight, but I actually enjoy sitting outside when I come with a friend to chat and catch up—it’s cozy and has a laid-back charm. The espresso is excellent and pairs perfectly with whatever pastry you choose. Prices might be on the higher side, but the quality of ingredients is obvious in every bite. You’re paying for real craftsmanship, and it’s 100% worth it. Whether you’re visiting or live nearby, and especially if you have friends or family in town, Jan Jou should absolutely be on your must-try list. I’m already salivating thinking about my next visit later this week.

Dear readers I failed you and did not get a close up of my croissant . It was small but entirely delicious! There is something special about a croissant made by a French person ! Delightful! I think I’ll back here again and again to work my way through everything they have !! Coffee was excellent too!
