Janti Cafe

Serving Turkish tea in a paper cup and throwing baklava onto paper plate was felt like an insult to my culture. Food was okay. The high rating attracted us to this cafe and we wonder how they got that high ratings. And yet, it was very expensive. $15 for a panini was insane. We ate 3 huge pieces of icli kofte (an authentic Turkish food super difficult to prepare) for $15 at Ottoman Taverna, Michelin star restaurant.

Seems tiny, but is a surprisingly large space! Plenty of room to grab a seat with a friend to chat over coffee downstairs or upstairs, lots of great (and surprisingly affordable) beverages and pastries available. Staff is absolutely amazing and incredibly sweet. Great little place.

Charming coffee shop and Turkish market in Georgetown. Seating is limited but available on both levels. Good selection of Turkish products and gifts. The owners are very nice as well. I hope that it does well as it makes a lovely addition to the neighborhood.

I found this cool little Cafe after having a meal at a restaurant near by. I had an espresso with some baklava for dine in. They have small tables and chairs outside the Cafe and it made me feel as if I was having coffee somewhere in Istanbul. A few more food options might do wonders. But overall very satisfied.

A cute little cafe with great service and WIFI. The turkish tea was delicious and they have an upstairs and the back area with little goodies as well. They also have chairs and tables to sit and relax or to get some work done, both upstairs and downstairs. Will be back!!

such a hidden gem. i don’t usually write reviews but i had to leave a positive rating after my study session here. i stayed for a few hours and was welcomed with really an amazing service + oat milk options which was plus. i appreciated how it’s a lot less packed than the cafes down the block and seating is very spread out & lit with natural light. there’s outdoor seating and an upstairs nook as well. spend an afternoon here after stopping by the flea market —it’s right across the street!!

Authentic Turkish Coffee in DC! It is so hard to find real authentic Turkish coffee in the area. This place has the real deal authentic Turkish Coffee, made to perfection (which is very hard to do), and Turkish tea. Look no other place in DC if you want real Turkish coffee!!

Good Turkish coffee, cappuccino was so-so. I liked their almond croissant. Excellent service.

We came here after going to the flea market. We love Turkish coffee. Got a Turkish coffee and Spinach Borek. It was so good and the place smells so good too. I'm gluten free but my friend got the Borek and I got the Turkish coffee. The service was good, quick and pleasant. I would go again as a cute place to walk into. There are about 4 tables so don't count on sitting to stay in there.

We paid sixteen dollars for a glorified piece of toast with pastrami and they couldn't even get our order right. We received half a sandwich's worth of a flatbread with cheese, pickles, and a couple slices of hot dog meat. The six dollar pastry we got was reheated upon order, but still very cold in the middle. We were the only people waiting for food, yet it took 5 minutes for the cold pastry and another 10 for the toast. We will not be coming here again.

This place is so lovely! Stopped in for a coffee while at the flea market, and the proprietor helped me pick something new and exciting! Grade A customer service, and the shop smells divine. The ottoman coffee was absolutely delicious. It's going to be a new ritual.

Wonderful little hole in the wall near the Georgetown flea market. I got the turkey pesto panini and was pleasantly surprised by the addition of pickles. We even were given two small pieces of baklava on the house for our food being late but honestly we didn't notice nor think our food was late at all. Overall great service and the music was quiet enough you could still hear the people you were with.

Janti Cafe is the cutest Turkish cafe located in the boundary of Glover park and Georgetown. There are 2 floors, and the establishment provides a variety of in-house made pastries, drinks, and so many kinds of Turkish snacks and treats. I had an iced Turkish coffee, which was very smooth and I'd recommend this to the black coffee drinkers. All beverage orders can be made either hot or cold. I also placed an order of a Turkish bagel, which was made fresh from the oven immediately I got in--exterior was a little hard but the inside was soft and warm, and I had it with some cream cheese. The Turkish bagel was filling but not as heavy as an American bagel. I also placed an order of a Turkish pastry (didn't get the name unfortunately) that was made with potatoes and was soft to the taste. It was heated before it was served to me and I liked how fluffy the texture was. There were so much more pastries available so I know that I'll be stopping by some other time to try them; I'm especially curious about the meat pastries that were unavailable when I stopped by. My server was soooo nice and very happy to recommend options to me, and I really appreciated that!

Great local spot for coffee and tea. Their prices are much cheaper than Starbucks and Fresh Baguette. They also have a great selection of Turkish foods and beverages. Their tea is delicious.

Janti Cafe opened six months ago just south of Observatory Circle next door to Cafe Divan. It's a small Turkish cafe and market. The first floor is a little cafe selling pastries (sweet and savory), coffee, and grab-and-go items like juice, milk, and other items. The second floor is a Turkish market selling all sorts of Turkish items from sweets to noodles to coffee. I ordered a chocolate pastry and a beef pastry, both very good!

I came down to the DMV area to visit some friends in the area. One of them is a Georgetown alumna / graduate student and recommended this cafe. The ambience is what you'd expect out of a cafe: cute, warm, and cozy. I appreciated the smells of coffee and paninis being made as I walked in. The upstairs location is a supermarket. I wish I had more time to explore, but they were mainly dry Turkish goods. My friends and I had different kinds of paninis, all of which were very flavorful. They almost remind me of cubanos if you've ever tried one. I ordered a Turkish tea and the set was small and dainty. It was as if I was having a mini tea party all to myself! I was also able to try a Turkish coffee here at Janti. Though the serving may have been small, it was super strong! The beverage also came with a little almond Turkish delight, which was very yummy. The treat was very sweet, and balanced out the strength and bitterness of the coffee. I loved it so much, I made sure to buy a box of Turkish delight before I left. It's been a dream of mine to visit Turkey one day, and coming to Janti makes me want to visit Turkey now more than ever. I'll be sure to visit this cafe the next time I find myself in the DMV area / near Georgetown.

I had some time to kill, and decided to pop in here for an afternoon iced coffee. It was delish! I also got an almond croissant that was delicious. I got another coffee on my way out. I will definitely be back if I'm in the neighborhood! There are a few small tables inside and a couple outside as well. Prices are very fair. Highly recommend!

A great store to get authentic Turkish pastry and groceries. The staff is very friendly especially the young blonde lady she has mastered the art of customer service .. Thank you I enjoyed shopping at your store today !!

We drove by Janti Cafe on the way up Wisconsin Ave and didn't recognize it, so we decided to stop and check it out! Apprently it's been open for a mere 6 weeks! The Cafe is very cute inside! It's a Turkish establishment, and I say establishment because it's more than just a coffee shop. There is grab and go food, a Turkish market upstairs, and a deli in the back. You can get a coffee, snack, entire lunch, or even some groceries here! We decided to get a couple coffees and something from the pastry display case. My partner got a Cafe Mocha and a Turkish Bagel. The mocha was absolutely delicious. Not too sweet and very smooth. The Turkish bagel was also surprisingly good. Much better tasting than a normal bagel. I got a Turkish Coffee and a Spinach Borek. The Turkish coffee was completely new to me. It came in an adorable little porcelain cup on a saucer to match. Upon googling it, I learned that they grind the coffee by hand very finely and the grounds stay in the bottom of the cup. It was the freshest cup of coffee I've had in a while. The spinach borek was phenomenal. So so so flakey and savory. The best I have had for sure. The staff was the real Turkish Delight of the experience. They were incredibly nice and eager to serve their customers. You can tell they are excited about the new business and that made me even more excited to try it out. If you're in the area, you should stop by! There are a ton of Turkish candy, drinks, snacks, and whatever else to try, and the fresh made food and drinks are delicious. I think they are well on their way to a hitting it out of the (Glover) park! Update: Had to come back to rehash how kind the employees are and how good the service is every time. This is really such a great addition to Wisconsin Ave!

My new place has been here for 2 1/2 years & I just found this location today! Wonderful time enjoying my coffee & Bagel! Conversing with Sergei was rememberable . We will be back for sure!

Very enjoyable stay and I enjoyed the Turkish bagel. I found a nice moment on a Sunday during the winter due to their hospitality. I enjoyed my break from life.

Caramel latte made with love! We also had fresh apple turnovers that the girl heated up that made them even more delicious. Great little spot. Right next to a Starbucks, but take my advice and choose this place.

Got an iced caramel latte, and it was good! Pretty cheap prices and quick service. The barista was very nice too. The place is cute and cozy. Upstairs has a nice Turkish market and nice seating!

I was excited to have some Turkish coffee but it wasn't as flavorful as what I'm used to and it came in an extremely dusty demitasse.

Very friendly staff, adorable cafe and Turkish grocery store. The almond croissant is an absolute must one of the best i've had. Very reasonable prices got a pastry and medium iced coffee for 7 dollars.

What a great and cozy place to have a cup of cappuccino or latte. I will recommend the pastry and try some Turkish delights ! So delicious ! The owner, Sercan is very nice and client oriented , so happy to know him for many years . Thank you guys for being open during this pandemic time and making the coffee more delicious than ever !

I went in to this cafe to buy 2 lattes. I thought it would be great coffee with all the stars this place has but it was awful. The problem was the milk was heated so hot it burnt the coffee and made it taste bitter. It took ages until the coffee was a temperature we could drink it. My take out cup also leaked and the coffee went on my clothes and bag. My husband didn't drink his. So disappointing.

Great cozy cafe on Wisconsin Ave. Lovely atmosphere to enjoy great Illy coffee while reading your book. They also have great choice of delicious pastries. And the most amazing part is you are always welcomed with a smile. Not to mention their crazy wide choice of foods and quality goods in the little supermarket they have upstairs! Definitely recommended!

I am new to the DC area, I visited this place once and now I go there every time I am in the area. the coffee is always perfect, i love the homemade pastries, and the warm atmosphere. they also have a good variety of imported product.

Even if you don't know how to read the fortune in the coffee cup, you will feel fortuned enough to have enjoyed this delicious coffee in Georgetown. Janti Cafe has a relaxing atmosphere and welcoming service. The market is a cool place to explore, one can count on taking home a Turkish treats; Baklava, Turkish delights and etc.

This place is great and so yummy. The iced coffee is delicious and so cheap, so much comes with just a small. I am a huge fan of their spinach borek, but when that's all sold out for the day I also love the potato. The Pogaca was so amazing I had to go back for another. The market upstairs is very nice and the seating outdoors made for a perfect morning! Would recommend to anyone in the area, or anyone who has to drive over- it's worth it!

Finally! Georgetown has needed a warmer, friendlier option than some of the other cafes. They're fine as far as it goes, and Saxby's is another favorite, but this one really hits the spot on what is an otherwise kind of bleak few blocks of Wisconsin Avenue. I love that you can park on 34th Street behind it and walk around. Parking can be tough on Wisconsin, but 34th is usually reasonable. Illy coffee, Turkish pastries and groceries, I love this place and hope it survives the pandemic.

love love love!!! New little coffee shop and Turkish market! As someone Turkish I highly recommend this Turkish market and their delicious panini's!! We also ordered some nicely wrapped goodies basket from the market for our clients. High quality stuff and good food! loveee it!

My favorite family-owned cafe in dc! I have been here several times and often buy pastries and drinks from here whenever family is in town! The owner is very kind. The pastries both sweet and savory are tasty. I especially like the meat pie (pogaca?) and the chocolate croissant. The pogaca has a subtle sweet bread with ground beef inside - a unique combination I'd never had but really liked. I also really love the atom toast - it has a lot of meat and tasty cheese. For drinks, my favorite is the caramel latte and also the Turkish coffee! The groceries upstairs are awesome!! I've tried the salamis and cheese and everything was incredible! Everything is very well priced and affordable!

Such great service! I loved the Turkish delights, they remind me of Narnia! I highly recommend coming here :)

I went to Janti Cafe for the first time, and it was a great experience. I enjoyed some Turkish coffee and picked up some desserts. Coffee was exactly what I expected. I was with a friend who lived in Turkey, and she was impressed with the selection of Turkish grocery items available. The guy who helped us was extremely friendly though he refused to read my fortune from the coffee grounds lol ;). I'll definitely make a return and recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic cafe experience.

Went to Janti this morning and got a Turkish Apple iced tea, green tea, and some pastries. Everything was delicious and staff was very nice and helpful in finding something new to try! Such a cute little shop with delicious food & drinks. The spinach borek was incredible & cant wait to keep trying all their goods!!

I love this Turkish store. I'm very happy with the selection they have. Drive all the way from Ashburn to shop here! I like shopping here they prices are cheaper then others around here. I say go and see for your self. Great inventory, friendly staff. What more can you ask for!

We live in the area and love to support small business owners. Went in for lunch. Eveything that we tried was delicious. They also have a Turkish marKet upstairs with all kinds of products. The personnel were very friendly and accommodating. Will definitely return. Welcome to the neighborhood.

This is my favorite market and cafe in Georgetown. They have the best selection of cheese, olives meat and more. Their pastries and savories are very fresh and cooked daily. Owners are very friendly. I go there almost everyday and very happy.

This cafe has a great variety of pastries and sandwiches as well as a Turkish market with a wide array of products upstairs. The paninis are delicious and everything is reasonably priced. Highly recommend stopping by for breakfast or lunch!

Drove over to Janti today not knowing what to expect. I had been to Turkish markets before and had been sorely disappointed. Not today. They had so many Turkish products. Definitely bought more than I intended. Can't wait to go back. Fabulous market.

This is a very cozy cafe with the most delicious food and pastries. I had the best cappuccino of my life. The service is outstanding. I will most definitively be back!
