Google
Great farmers market with some awesome vendors, just make sure to bring adequate sun protection because it is pretty much full-sun with some small areas to retreat to shade when there is seating available.

Always good selection and clean. Great deals. It is a smaller market so not as packed as some other ones. The pecan pie from Beckmann's is a must try !!!! Best pecan pie I have ever had. They have a wide variety of fruit and veggies. You can also get Dumplings, beer, breads & pastries.

I love this place! The J-Town farmers market was off the grid for quite a while, but opened back up in the summer, so they're still getting back in their feet. I was told that every other week is a lighter week, with less vendors. The pictures shown are of a lighter week. Everyone was so nice and friendly. We bought from almost every tent! This is in the Gordon Biersch lot, and even they are selling some discounted products! A must go if you're in the area

Great and amazing farmers market in Downtown San Jose, I really recommend eat tacos 😊

I’ve been living in the Bay Area for over 10 years and I have only now just visited the Japantown Farmer’s Market for the first time. What a gem!!! It’s a super lovely set-up with tents, tables, chairs, and games in the center and all of the stands on the perimeter. Pretty decent selection of stands for a small market too; there’s basically one of each type of major vendor present (coffee, fruits, veggies, seafood, etc.). Even the DJ was great! But the best part of all was one of the hot food vendors… They have one of the best damn Japanese curries I’ve ever had (outside of Japan). And it was prepared with such care too! I don’t even want to share the name because I want it to remain Japantown’s best kept secret 🫣 so I guess you’ll just have to pay a visit to the farmer’s market to find out for yourself 😜 and support our other small, local businesses while you’re at it!

Not really many stand but every stand is high quality!

Google
It’s a small farmers market, and also the vendors sell very expensive produce. It’s not really worth it for what you get. A couple of vendors were selling produce, but most vendors sold overpriced pastries, to go food, and items. There’s a better farmer’s market in Campbell.

Yelp
The farmers market has gotten bigger and better with many vendors in the permitter and inner circle of Gordon Biersch's back lot. The place was filled with vendors, local produce farmers, bakers, and even had a handful of food trucks. Plenty of table/bench seating covered by pop ups. This is a fun walk for us but others who aren't as local will need to find street parking and walk in. Note for pet owners, dogs aren't allowed in the market place but there was a sign for "pet valet" in the front!

Yelp
Came in right around opening. The market was smaller than we expected but had decent variety in vendors. We bought honey, dips for our chips and a cheesecake from the various vendors. The cheesecake was from mogu mogu and while it tasted delicious, we wished the portion was bigger for the price we paid. We parked on the street, no problem finding a spot during our visit.

Yelp
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite farmer's markets to come to. They make excellent use of the space with lots of vendors and even a section with tables to sit and enjoy the treats you buy. The vendor lineup rotates and it's posted on socials a few days before. I love that they do this because it keeps it fresh and always something new to try. Parking can be a bit tricky, mainly street parking and it fills up quick. This market opens at 8am and I've come right at 8am and seen vendors with HUGE lines, some people don't play about their favorite vendors. The market is seasonal May-October.

Yelp
Over the years this Jtown Farmer's Market has changed locations and vibe. It's now at the Gordon Biersch Brewery with a live DJ, Games and tables for families to sit it and eat their Food Truck items. They also have local artists selling their arts and crafts along with fruits and veggies, flowers and local honey! I also love that Roy's Coffee Station has a pop up booth there and just remember no puppies or animals allowed. Gordon Biersch Brewery even has a pop up booth for $10-6 pack. I'll definitely be back!

Yelp
Japantown Farmer's Market is a smaller one, but still nice to visit! It's held in the Gordon Biersch parking lot, and sadly does not allow dogs. Most of the vendors stay consistent, but I've also seen some new ones each time, including the occasional food truck. Credit cards are mostly accepted, but some vendors (like the local honey one) are cash only. There's also a covered area with picnic tables for seating, and they had upbeat music playing from the speakers. For coffee, I stopped by the Roy's Station stand and got an Iced Dirty Chai. It was pretty standard - not the strongest chai flavor, but good for a caffeine fix. I also visited the Roti stand, which is one of my favorites from the Mountain View Farmers' Market. They're so generous with their free samples, and sell tasty stuffed roti and various dips. California Bakeshop also had a large assortment, and their Mushroom Empanada was pretty good. The market is only open from 8AM to 12 PM on Sundays, so the visiting window is pretty short. Worth stopping by though!

Yelp
I was visiting from Toronto, Canada and was actually really excited to go to Japantown Farmer's Market and was very disappointed once I arrived. The Japantown Farmers Market is every Sunday and starts at 8 am and ended at 12 pm (noon)...Me and my boyfriend arrived at 10 am and majority of the Japanese food stalls were all sold out. There were very few vendors there and most weren't "Japanese" or "Japan" related at all, especially for "Japantown" Farmers Market...we were expecting to see more Japanese related products and food. I feel like there is a lot of potential here but it's very poorly organized and managed especially with this event happening every Sunday since May and most things were sold out well before the market closed. It is a little hard to find as well since it located in parking lot at the back of brewery located near Japantown and there only one small flag at the entrance of the ally way leading to the back parking lot next to brewery. There was decent food traffic but most walked in and left right after since all the Japanese vendors were sold out so early...most vendors who were still selling products were friendly but the sold out vendors kinda of just ignored you and chatted amongst themselves. Overall, I wouldn't recommend going unless you can go there right at 8 am before vendors sell out. There are much better farmers markets located not far from this one.

Yelp
You have a small and quaint farmers market on a Sunday afternoon near the Gordon Biersch located in San Jose Japan Town. It would be great if there was space allocated for more vendors. We finished our look around very quickly.

Yelp
[Review posted: 7/28] NEW LOCATION: Gordon Biersch parking lot (8th and Taylor) Great little unaffiliated farmer's market! The Deets: +/- Street parking only, but easy to find. Please this farmers market is on Sunday, so you don't have to pay for the meters. + This farmer's market is year round! I think it's one of the only in the South Bay! +/- 2 vegetable and 2 fruit based vendors usually, perfect for the week's groceries! If you're looking for a huge variety, hit up Campbell - this is not for you + Gordon Biersch selling beer for $6 for a 6 pack, $12 for a 12 pack and $22 for a 24 pack. + Handful of food vendors and crafts which rotate weekly (some vendors are regulars though). + Roy's Coffee in the house as well! YUM - iced coffees have been perfect throughout the summer!

Yelp
I, like some others, came here mostly for the Wow Wow Hawaiian Lemonade. It's a stall set up towards the back of the Farmer's Market and it's best to come earlier before they sell out. They have a short list of handcrafted lemonades to choose from and I chose to get the Lava Flow. Different from the lemonades you tend to get for the taste with added coconut bits in it too. I opted for the mason jar and overall I think it is on the pricier side (~$11) for a drink. However, it's more of an investment because you can bring the jar back and get a refill for ~$3-4 after. $2 for a reusable straw. The Farmers Market itself is on the smaller size with most stall selling fruits and snacks. I think the fruits are more pricier than a supermarket by the pound but they look very full and fresh. Not really any food trucks here if you are hungry. Free parking on the streets on Sundays is a good incentive to go!

Yelp
The beloved Japantown Farmers Market has moved to the spacious Gordon Biersch back area, the same place where the Night Market is held on Thursdays. It's a great space, better than the tiny parking lot they used to use. It's not as large of a market as Campbell or other locations, but you'll find your fresh veggies, flowers and now, beer to go.

Yelp
I was bummed about so much sh*t going on in the world then I heard: "Next week will be the last day of the Farmers' Market." "WHAAAAAT?!" I heard it from three different vendors, but I still couldn't believe it. "There's going to be construction here." "Are they going to build more condos and apartments??? Don't we have enough around here? People can't even afford homes anymore!" I was so mad! The vendor from J&J Farms just shrugged and said, "They're looking for a place to have the farmers' market. It was going to be between 3rd and 4th streets, but the fire department didn't approve. So there's no farmers' market until they find a place." WTF. They better find a place! I LOVE this farmers' market! It may be small, with about ten vendors but it will do! I've been coming here for yeaaaaarssss. I think since 2012. Since I can't go to the Downtown Farmers' on Fridays when school year starts, the Sunday Japantown Farmers' Market is the way to go! Sometimes I go to both since I love farmers' markets so much. However, the market in Japantown is year round, while the one in downtown ends in November. I used to take my daughter here since she was born, and as she grew I would have her run around the parking lot to release all her energy. Sometimes, we would meet some of her friends and they would all run around after tasting fruit and other goodies. But recently I've been rushing here right after yoga since this mofo tries to get all the scones before 9AM from the vegan bakery. Damn him. Or her. Then I would get bread from Beckman's, fruit from J&J Farms, and sometimes I'd try new or different things. Why can't they just keep this parking lot open?!?! There's always events here, and there's not a lot of parking on the streets! Oh man, parking is going to suck!!! Unless they're building a big parking garage?!? Why didn't I get something in the mail about a proposed construction? Isn't there usually a meeting before building something? Ugh. Whatever, I just want this Japantown Farmers' Market on Sundays. I like having this in my hood. Judging by the amount of peeps who come here - I'm sure I'm not the only one who will miss it when it's gone.

Yelp
This is an intimate farmers market selling fresh fruit, vegetables, bread, honey, hummus, etc. Pretty much the same vendors come each week, which is really nice because customers like me have a great opportunity to know the people from whom we buy our basic groceries. Again, this is a much smaller farmers market with around 10 vendors or so showing up on a somewhat regular basis. Be aware it is open every Sunday till around 2pm. Don't be late.

Yelp
Yes it's small (a grand total of 4, sometimes 5 veggie/fruit vendors), yes it's not fancy (there is one organic strawberry/tomato vendor and only during certain times of the year) and yes there isn't great variety (aside from the 4-5 fruit/veggie vendors, there's one hummus guy, one pie guy, one flower lady and sometimes a honey guy, caramel lady and cookie/treats guy). That said, the the few fruit and veggie vendors bring a respectable game. The veggies and fruits are seasonal and very fresh. I also love how they carry a decent variety of Asian vegetables (they're always bok choy, napa, radish, gai lan, lemon grass, Japanese eggplant and even snow pea shoots when in season) in addition to the more standard Western fare (chard, kale, peppers, tomatoes, etc.). The prices are also very reasonable (especially if you come after 11AM - you'll often find the fruits at a dollar a pound). Given the proximity to our home, we're definitely loyal regulars.

Yelp
This is the japan town sunday farmers market, tiny but mighty. There is a city owned for pay lot right next to this market. You can of course park on the side streets for as well-but that means you'll be walking farther with whatever you buy. The meters are freeee on sunday's which helps quite a bit. As far as markets go there are maybe a dozen or so booths, of which half or a bit less are selling green goods-vegetables, eggs and suchlike. The rest are prepared foods-baked goods, tamales, hummus, etc. So this market has limited grocery opportunities, but is much better at stocking up on specialty items. A plus is the japan town business association booth which in addition to being staffed with some of the best people on earth, is also THE source for all japan town happenings, past, present and future. Also the coffee is awesome. So while this is not necessarily the market spectacle you'll find elsewhere it's still an awesome local spot to stock up on unique tasty items.

Yelp
This farmers market is great! I often find myself not wanting to endure the overcrowded markets and while this one is still growing, I find it peaceful and charming. My visit was highly enjoyable and they had a wide array of choices. You can tell that they pay attention to detail here with all the work they've done to help this grow. Keep it up, y'all rock!!! Also if you take the time to read reviews. Ignore angry people with the one star lifestyle. It takes one little microscopic mistake to shake their whole world. This place is awesome and the ladies who run it are amazing.
google avatar

Yelp
*UPDATE: The unprofessional, lying Tamiko R. is trying to dox me while gaslighting the public about their awful behaviour. More proof at how truly terrible these people are. I'm sorry to 1-star all the vendors because of the mismanagement of the people in charge, but this farmer's market is a MESS. Just go to the Campbell market and avoid frustration and bad customer service from management. Hours listed are wrong-DO NOT ACTUALLY SHOW UP AT 8am- nothing is set up by then, and the woman at the Information desk will defensively almost-yell at you if you ask when you can actually spend money. Website is inaccurate ("it's approximate!"-said same nasty woman when asked about wrong dates on page) and not updated to reflect cancelled days. I miss the other ladies who used to run this market, they were kind, and enjoyed providing information instead of defending their incompetence. Nasty, yelling defensive liar woman, you ruined this market. You. Just you.

Amanda D.

Yelp
This farmers market has a great atmosphere and a good selection of produce and bread. Each week offers a few new vendors. There service has always been excellent. I highly recommend.

Yelp
Best cheap fruits and veggies ever! Love their peach. Crunchy, sweet and cheap :). It's a small market and I love it that way. Jackson street closes down between 7th and 6th streets right across from Blockbuster every Sunday. You will see the same familiar vendors week after week. Love the small market feel! Everything seem to run at $1/lb or a piece. Support the local farmers and enjoy the walk! Everything dies down at close to 1-2pm. Show up early and get better fresher produce. Btw-they do carry some really yummy pastries and fresh flowers!
google avatar

Katherine S.

Yelp
I wish the farmers market was bigger, but it's a start and it brings the community together, which is great. The meters are free on Sundays during the market, which is great. Found parking easy enough on 6th street. The market is inside a lot, not in the middle of the street (no road closures). There's a couple produce vendors and some bakeries/goods vendors.

Yelp
I've been to the Japantown SJ Farmers Market a few times and like it fine. I like going when they have the Obon Festival so you can see two things instead of just one. It's small so you can walk & check prices before buying. I got some apricots & yellow nectarines from Lujan Farm selling for $1/lb. There's another stand for $1.5/lb, some vegetable stands, at least 2 flower stands, 1 tea booth: Teagre Teas, Beckmann's had some good looking pie - I should have bought one. Mushrooms $3 basket: white, oyster, shitake, portabello, & criminie. There was a Thai booth too. Strawberries: $3 basket or 2 for $5. 1/2 flat $10. Raspberry & blackberries $3 or 2 for $5. NO Pets Allowed! Bring small bills!

Yelp
YELP 365 CHALLENGE 2014-(258/365) "Fresh & Cheap" Small market, but makes up for it with the huge variety of produce and other items offered here. prices are very cheap compared to what you would find in any other grocery chain. Towards closing, the vendors go into liquidation mode so you get the best bang for your buck there. I saw HUGE bags of produce for $3, and 2/$5 which is a complete STEAL!. Stop by if you're in Japantown on a Sunday morning. Its worth a peek! ALOHA!!! Shaka Meter: \uuu/ \uuu/ \uuu/ 3

Yelp
Absolutely adore the fact that we have a farmers market so close to our apartment and I jump outta bed (if I'm not too lazy and sleepy) whenever my fiancé asks if I'm down to go to the farmers market. This farmers market is not too big but not too small at the same time. Nevertheless, I am always able to find something I need here. You can get everything from Asian vegetables like bok Choy, gai lan to fresh green onions and typical supermarket veggies such as broccoli and carrots. My favorite things to get here are the following: -red onions: I hardly ever have to pick through the batch because everyone I pick up is beautiful and firm. -green onions: love being able to get green onions with their pointy ends still attached. The ones you find at your typical super market are usually pruned and ends are evenly shaved off. -grapes: only $1 a pound for fresh and amazingly sweet grapes! Yasssss count me in! -seasonal fruits: persimmons season right now $1 a pound! -flavored honey sticks: yummmmmm On occasion you can find a food truck at the very end of the market but it's not always a guarantee.

Yelp
This really is one of the saddest Farmers Markets I've been to. We lived here for almost two years, walking distance and I went a grand total of one time. This market had minimal and I mean minimal vendors. You could spend ten minutes here and it would have been sufficient to have spent more than enough time looking at everything. Honestly I am a huge Farmers Market/ Fair maven and will try to get people to drive insane distances to pick up macarons, tamales, and apple cider. And this market was not something I would ever try again. The honey picked up some tasty tacos and a small pie during our one visit and we called it a day. Pull yourself together Japantown Farmers Market, I mean jeez.
google avatar

Cynthia C.

Yelp
Very small market: *plenty of free parking *not a lot of organic options *definitely check out the Vietnamese farmer who has all the cool exotic Southeast Asian produce: thai chilis, lemongrass, thai basil, unnamed super leafy tender greens, I like anything leafy, he generously provided tips on how to use them. If you're in the area, definitely make a stop, otherwise, not very comprehensive.
google avatar

Heather I.

Yelp
I love coming here after 11 for my fruit. A lot of the vendors sell their fruits at a discounted price! It's a cute little farmers market on the outer part of j town. They have many fruits, vegetables, breads, hummus and flowers. Dogs are not allowed inside and I think most of the vendors only take cash...
google avatar

Justine L.

Yelp
this review is strictly only for the wow wow hawaiian lemonades stand---which is the only reason i came to this farmers market in the first place. it's also the only stand worth going to. i was super excited to find out that the infamous lemonade stand from HI is here in SJ! i bought a refillable cup from HI and didn't have to travel back to refill it, now that there's one here. their lava flow lemonade was super refreshing &i definitely would recommend it.

Corey N.

Yelp
The farmers market is amazing. EVERYONE is nice, friendly, and helpful. Don't pay attention to 1-star reviews, they are totally inaccurate. If you do proper research and navigate to the CORRECT websites, then you will get the correct information. Besides all that, highly recommend. They've been reopened about 6 months and are still small, but growing. Come out to support these fantastic people!
google avatar

Vicky L.

Yelp
This is probably the smallest of small Farmer's Market's I've visited... oh wait... I think it's tied with the Willow Glen one... There was two produce stands, two fruit stands, a bakery stand, an orchid stand, and a few other random stands... The fruit stand closer to 5th was kick ass... "Everything was 1 dollar a pound!" We stocked up on super sweet white peaches and 75cents a pound navel oranges. The oranges were kick ass.... We already finished off 6 oranges in a day. The orchid stand had great prices but the selection was rare and in between. I would be a happier camper to see more orchids... Not a bad place to wander through when we're making our weekly stock up trip to Nijiya!

Yelp
Japantown san jose farmers market isn't much to look at, just 10ish fruit/veggie dealers, some organic. some arts & crafts vendors also present. a flower dealer or two, food vendors include beckman's, kettle corn, hummus/pita, and tamales, organizer: japantownsanjose locale: jackson st. b/w 6 & 7th st. time: 8:30-12, sundays,, year round shopping notes: -not a go to market. -interesting if one is in the area. -parking not a problem.
google avatar

Crystal L.

Yelp
This farmer's market definitely needs to be developed. There's not much to it, however, it has the basics. If you need fresh vegetables and fruits, this will do. It's just a bit sad because its a large area with such little tents. Also, there wasn't any music or live performances going on, which I usually notice at the farmer's market I go to closer to home. What is great about this farmer's market is that its in dtsj, thus you can grab some coffee or a breakfast burrito at a nearby cafe that's walking distance. I recommend Roy's Station coffee & teas. Also, parking is free on Sunday and its not busy. The reason why I went to this farmer's market was because Wow Wow Hawaiian Lemonade was there. The only place you can get their lemonade is in Hawaii, so i had to go here. They are also working on being at the Kaiser Farmer's Market. I'd probably only go back here for the lemonade, or for other different vendors. As for the fresh vegetables, I'd go to my nearby one. Hopefully this farmer's market improves soon!

Yelp
My wife and I went this morning and had a great expierence with all the vendors. All positive vibes and great people. Thank you for an amazing farmers market.

Yelp
THis market is great! Although a little small, the venders are quality and seem like they want to be there. The people who run it are super friendly and help out with any questions. Shout out to Tamiko who took the time to give me a little tour of the market to let me know what was there and offered to answer any questions I had or any concerns. All I have to say is that the Tamales were really good. I would definitely return. I do have to say the negative reviews seem to be highly inaccurate or blaming those running the market for third party websites not updating their information. For all accurate details, actually go to https://www.japantownsanjose.org.
google avatar

Vicky T.

Yelp
Local business!!! While waiting for our nail appointment I got to take in all the local goodies, flowers and crafts... tamales are a must!! Parking is a @#$#@#$ so bring your walking shoes and sunscreen!
google avatar

Elvis A.

Yelp
Never bothered to check out the vendors at the farmers market, I only come here for the Wow Wow Lemonade Stand! Parking is easy if you come in early enough! And come early to get that good good lemonade!
google avatar

Angel K.

Yelp
Quite a small farmer's market. There are a few fruit and veggie vendors, a few bakeries, a donut stall, and a couple of other places (one that sold breakfast burritos and a Middle Eastern dip thingy stall). Went earlier in the day so the prices weren't as great, but it was definitely very small. Plus side was that there is free parking in the parking lot that the Farmer's Market is in and if you're in the area it's nice to check out!
google avatar

Caitlin Y.

Yelp
Just went for the first time in a few years and they have moved to the back side of the Gordon Beirch factory building. Maybe about a dozen stalls with a variety of fresh fruits (so sweet!) and veggies, Beckmanns bread, Roy's coffee, flowers, berries, honey, pasteries, textiles, and GB beer of course. I like the location (street parking only) with people manning the crosswalk to hold traffic for the pedestrians.
google avatar

Y J.

Yelp
Conveniently located if you live nearby, I really like the fruit and veggie vendors. Some vendors however are not consistent in showing up. Also would be nice to have some shaded areas to sit down and enjoy the food/ pastries. I noticed they put benches but the sun can be unbearable
google avatar

Stephanie O.

Yelp
We got to this place, around 12pm noon on a random Sunday. Stopped by, because I love farmer's markets. The thing that sucked was that they were in the process of closing by the time we got there. Based on the 10 minutes, that we were there, there was a large selection of nectarines. Small nectarines, big nectarines, large nectarines. Sorry, don't remember the names of the different varieties. I think it would be more fun to have lunch at a nearby restaurant, maybe Kaita, before going. Just to be in the mood. Also, it would be smarter to get there earlier, before closing time.

Jacquie V.

Yelp
One of the OG farmer's markets in downtown San Jose and surrounding areas. It is small but consistently has quality vendors, friendly staff and volunteers, and good location in Japantown, a historic San Jose neighborhood. This is a neighborhood market where you'll often see your neighbors and familiar vendors and Japantown business owners. All volunteer run and has been around for years. Love this market. As for some of the negative reviews, anyone who's been active in downtown San Jose and/or Japantown for any length of time knows how much the families and individuals who manage this market have done for the community and neighborhood for many, many years. Entitlement at its finest.
google avatar

Richard J.

Yelp
Come support your local farmers market! I can see this place will be packed in couple years. As of right now this place is just not have enough vendors. But you can still get enough fresh produce and fruits. It's always nice to get out in the Sunday morning and check this place out.
google avatar

Nam N.

Yelp
I think I would just love this Farmer's Market if I lived within walking distance of it. With only a handful of stands, the selection is far and few between. But what I appreciate most about this Market is that it offers fresh and affordable produce to local residents. It's a bit larger than the Willow Glen Market---though not by much. However, they do offer a few vendors that WGM does not. Yay for the Nuts Stalls! :) Great strolling option if you happen to be catching lunch in JTown on a Sunday afternoon.

Yelp
Sure, this is a pretty small farmers market but it had good stuff! It's about a block long. There was one prepared food vendor (Thai), a couple of jewelry vendors, a hummus dude and a bread guy. And about five produce stalls. I couldn't believe how cheap everything was. Most fruit and veggies were $1 a pound. Some charged $1.50 a pound. There was one guy with $2 a pound heirloom tomatoes. And they were beautiful! I wish I could have bought some to take home to LA but I contented myself in just picking out stuff for my cousin to buy (shopping is almost as good as eating!). One of the jewelry vendors was very nice. She told me all her stuff was sterling silver and they funky enough for my taste. I would have maybe bought some stuff but I'm trying to cut back. I did overhear the bread guy explaining why his bread was so expensive. The fruit is ORGANIC. Then he said if they buy from him, he'll throw something in for the folks. Oh, okay. Hm, perhaps he needs a bit of a PR lesson to rephrase that? What a fun little farmers market.

Yelp
This Farmers Market is only a few blocks from my apartment and I never thought to check it out! Crazy. My parents came to visit me for the weekend and before they left, they wanted their only daughter to be nourished and her fridge full of healthy fruits and veggies. I can't complain though. I wouldn't want to disappoint them! There's this stall that sells everything for a $1.00. They're right at the entrance when you get, on your right hand side. It's ridiculously cheap. A dollar can get you a whole bunch of Chinese broccoli (gai lan) and more Chinese veggie varieties. They're all Vietnamese at that dollar stand and they look like they're the most popular vendors. After 15 mins and 28 dollars poorer, we had 4 tote bags full of leaves. They're fresh and ready to be consumed. These are NOT organic though, so bear in mind. Honestly a lot of them didn't seem to be organic either, minus a few fruit stands. There's also anther stall that's super cheap for fruit as well, but they aren't organic. Despite its small size, the Farmers Market here is quite plentiful in variety. They have a lot of asian herbs like red dates, ginger and spring onions. Really convenient and a much nicer way to get veggies than through a monopolized grocery chain. Vendors are extremely friendly and tend to give you a deal if you buy a lot. It's no secret - they're just more willing to work with you to sell their produce. I think I'll come back this Sunday. Before you go, stop by Roy's and get a coffee to start your morning.

Yelp
It's a nice farmers market but it's super tiny. I would recommend going though if you have free time. The merchants are usually super nice.

Yelp
Like the Aptos 4th of July parade - It's the shortest!!! Even though this is probably the smallest Farmer's Market I've seen, it certainly does the trick! Gorgeous fresh flowers - including a personal fave: Artichokes overgrown with the purple sprouts shooting out! Awe-some! We go each Sunday - a romantic walk to Japantown together, get our coffee at Roy's and then paruse the items at the market! Always taking home fresh greens, PLUOTS!!! (Lots of pluots! YUM, and homemade artichoke dips with pita strips. Each week we try to mix it up and get a new flavor! Everyone is so sweet & it's a lovely experience all around. 3 stars only for how small it is. I'd love to see another block added on. Where are the local farmers? hehe

Yelp
The Japantown Farmer's Market is definitely smaller than most of the other farmer's markets in the area, and seems to attract fewer of the bigger farms. That being said, it's also one of the few available on Saturdays, and it has fewer of the non-produce vendors, so I think you can be more efficient and thus avoid dropping $200 on "drinking chocolate" or 18 different kinds of hummus. It's a very no-nonsense sort of farmer's market, and all the farmers drastically reduce their prices in the last hour or so the farmer's market is open so they don't have to take any unsold produce back home with them, so if you're not picky and looking for a bargain, show up right before they close and you can get some great deals!

Yelp
I live a 5 minute walk away from this farmer's market so I love if for convenience! It is small, but I kinda like that because it makes it easier to quickly pick out who has the best priced this or the best looking that. So far everything I've bought here has been super yummy and way cheap! I also like to stop in the little japanese grocery store on Jackson on my way back and buy whatever ingredients I need to make the brilliant creations that were inspired by all the fresh things! I bought like 5 pomegranates this week. I must go eat another perfect pomegranate now.

Yelp
This is another CFM which could be much much more. Not enough vendors and not enough variety.

Yelp
It's true that this market is small in regards to the amount of vendors. There is a nice variety of goods to be found at this market, but don't expect to see a zillion types of tomatos to choose from or everything organic. Overall, you will walk away with bag full of veggies and fruits. There is hope though. Today, I encountered a new vendor who sells a couple types of duck eggs. They are brand new to the market and were selling regular eggs as well three other types- salted, pinoy (?) and balut (yes, you read right!). The regular duck eggs sold for $3.25 a dozen. The others were a little more, but much cheaper than what I saw in SF's markets. That was such a nice surprise and I do hope they stay. I can't wait to make duck egg pasta tonight! Oh, the ducks are fed organic feed. Some vendors will give you a small discount about a 1/2 hr. before they have to pack-up. I got two items for the price of one last time from one vendor. The market is held every Sunday until noon-ish. Street parking and cash only (no atms near-by). Dogs must be kept 20 ft. away from vendors.
