I’ve been to Japomen in Vienna a few times now and it’s consistently a great experience. I usually stick to the sushi and it’s always fresh and well-prepared. One of the highlights for me is the hand roll set which I highly recommend. It comes with spicy salmon, soft shell crab, and spicy toro with truffle. The spicy toro with truffle is easily the standout. It’s rich, flavorful, and just indulgent enough without being too heavy. My husband often gets the ramen and udon and both have a rich, flavorful broth that he really enjoys. The noodles have a great texture and the portions are generous. What makes Japomen even better is that it’s super affordable without compromising on quality. You get fresh and well-executed Japanese food that tastes like it should cost more than it does. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is relaxed, making it a great spot whether you’re craving sushi or a comforting bowl of noodles. Japomen is a reliable go-to for solid Japanese food in Vienna.

Always fresh and flavorful! Today we had the spicy seafood ramen and sushi combo set, and everything was delicious. A perfect comfort meal on a rainy day!

So good!!! And so many different things to choose from, all very fresh and flavorful tasting fish. Beef Broth/pho was so delicious. The hand rolls are great and everything is plated and presented so beautifully. Everyone working there was super nice and helpful, lots of big booth seating and very calm atmosphere, definitely worth a trip.

Listen, if you haven't been to Japomen yet, what are you even doing with your life? I went in expecting a good meal and left wondering if I should write them a love letter. The ramen? *Next level.* The broth was so rich and flavorful I honestly considered drinking it straight from the bowl (no shame). The noodles were doing that perfect little bounce thing that only *real* good noodles do. Every spoonful was basically a hug for my soul. And the sushi? So fresh I swear it winked at me. Light, clean, and packed with flavor — it was like a sushi spa day for my taste buds. PLUS — they have halal options, which basically makes them superheroes in my book. It's not easy to find a spot that hits every mark, but Jopamen understood the assignment and then some. Moral of the story: Go. Eat. Be happy. Probably go again the next day. Your future self will thank you.

We are thrilled to have a new Japanese restaurant in our area, especially since there was previously only one option. We decided to try it and were impressed by its high-quality food, ambiance, and excellent service. Upon entering the restaurant, it initially felt like a franchise eatery as we placed our order through kiosks and waited for our food. However, we were pleasantly surprised when our food was brought to our table, and the owner checked to see if we needed anything else. We initially thought the restaurant only served ramen, but we were delighted to discover that it offers a wide variety of Japanese cuisine. They had a special promotion where ordering a ramen also came with a hand roll. The Japomen Ramen had a delightful mix of flavors with a spicy kick from the yuzu jalapeno. The Yakisoba had perfect textures with stir-fried udon noodles and vegetables. The sashimi in Sushi Combo A was incredibly fresh and of premium quality, and both the Caterpillar and Volcano rolls were delicious, with all the ingredients harmoniously combined. We are thrilled to have a high-quality Japanese restaurant like this in our neighborhood and look forward to returning to try more of their offerings.

This place is EASILY one of my new favorite restaurants for Japanese cuisine! I came with my husband on a Saturday night and the staff was extremely welcoming upon entering. We ordered two handrolls, the Sunrise Roll, one onigiri, and the seafood ramen. The food came out quick and everything was absolutely delicious - not a single complaint on any of the dishes! They used such high quality ingredients, making this hands down my new go-to spot for sushi. It’s similar prices compared to other chain restaurants but the only other places I’ve tasted comparable fish is at an omakase. The salmon literally melted in my mouth! The staff was so friendly throughout our dining experience, and the restaurant was very clean. I can’t wait to come here again to try other items on the menu!

Google
nice and clean spot with halal options. staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. the halal chicken katsu and halal chicken ramen were great. there are a couple of parking spots on the street a few stores up or the retail parking garage behind the shopping center (underground, use elevator/stairs and walk a bit).

Google
Just got back from Japan and was missing the amazing cuisine so we decided to try it out and we're impressed! They had a huge variety of authentic Japanese Cuisine from Sushi, to Ramen, Onigiri, katsu, takoyaki and more! The sushi was especially cheap and delicious I think this may be our new favorite spot.

Yelp
I have eaten my fair share of ramen around the DMV, but I have never had anything quite like the Japomen ramen. Every element of this ramen was outstanding and what I would expect from a good ramen place: springy alkaline noodles, richly seasoned, tender pork, and a generous amount of menma, bean sprouts, green onion. But the star was the broth -- definitely spicy, but nothing crazy, and some unexpected but very welcome fusion notes of cilantro and jalapeño. I wish I could identify the other unusual elements -- a bold, almost beefy broth -- but I know these things are a closely guarded secred. Whoever is running the kitchen knows what they're doing. Charming decor and friendly service. Outstanding value. Easy to miss this unassuming storefront in the corner of a row of other restaurants, but don't overlook it: they made one of the best bowls of ramen I've ever had.

Yelp
Cute tucked away Japanese spot. Nestled away in near the Dunn lorring metro is this cute spot. There is a paid parking deck right next to it, if you can't find street parking. You can also park in some of the garages that offer 2 hour store parking (not specific for this store), though you do need to push the button to start the 2 hour clock or the will tow your car. (Or at least that's is what the papers on all the meters were stating. It does have some indoor seating and a really cool water dispensing machine. Produces nice, fresh, crisp water. I had salmon sushi and then salmon avocado roll to-go which was delicious. Their bento boxes and other lunch specials look like a pretty good deal. I absolutely love salmon though!

Yelp
Mediocre quality. Not bad though. They forgot my edamame and I was too far into the meal to want it. Ramen is 3/5 Takoyaki is 3.5/5 Yakisoba is 2.5/5 Rolls were 4/5 I would go if I was craving Japanese and it was close. I'd probably not designate this place to eat if I had options.

Yelp
This place is cute, definitely a warm and inviting spot on a chilly night. My mini and I walked in and were greeted immediately... all customers were greeted as soon as they entered the establishment which I truly do appreciate. The restaurant is small but spacious enough to fit at least ten families of two or more. While we dined the restaurant filled up which is nice. The staff are friendly and accommodating. The hot saki was so good!!! The sushi is "okay", fresh, and definitely over priced in my opinion (not a sushi connoisseur but we eat a lot of sushi all over the DMV). The ramen was delicious, great broths. Another attribute I appreciate with this restaurant is presentation of the plates. This review is my opinion so I welcome you to visit and experience the restaurant and cuisine, I think you will be surprised. This will be our "comfy ramen spot" and if we have a taste for sushi, we'll get a roll or two. The restrooms were decent.

Yelp
I don't normally get to eat ramen bowls. When I heard this place had halal options, I wanted to go and try it out, because there are few Japanese places that do and I appreciate the accommodation. So I drove out quite a bit to experiment. I was excited that I could try a ramen bowl here and was not disappointed. I got the spicy halal chicken. First off, the broth was tasty- often I order spicy food at places that serve a diverse customer base, and it's not spicy, but here it actually was, but not overpoweringly so. It was very delicious. The chicken was sweet, it was a nice treat. The egg yolk was soft, it was a nice surprise in the bowl. The vegetables were good. It wasn't too noodle heavy, which could be bad if you're very hungry, but for me it was good because too much noodles makes me sleepy. Also there was a good helping of chicken/protein. There is a diverse menu here, and I am excited to try out more options (although I am also craving the ramen bowl again.) The decor was unique but relaxing, the music was a tasteful selection of anime openings (and possibly other songs). Service was nice. All in all, great experience!

Yelp
A well priced place with a lot of choices of very average Japanese food. They have sushi, ramen, udon, temaki and more. The food taste ok and is inexpensive. So definitely a decent hang out place. Decor is fine but no large tables beyond like party of 6. Mostly self-service but the staff is nice. Sapporo - well priced for 22oz for $11 Japoramen - the pork belly is too chopped and the broth taste ok though not sophisticated with ok ramen Spicy salmon temaki - this is very average and could not really recommend unless you have some serious craving to fill

Yelp
I always try to visit new Ramen restaurants around the DMV. Found out they just opened near me so I decided to have late lunch here. This place used to be Moby Dick if I remember correctly. The store looks clean and has a lot of tables so that is good. You can order at the counter or the Kiosk. I decided to order at the counter since the couple at the Kiosk is taking their time looking at the menu. I saw they have fried Octopus but was told they sold out for the day so I ordered the fried calamari and the Wagyu Ramen. Sat at a table and waited for my food to come out. Since it wasn't busy my food came out pretty quickly. The spicy dip sauce for the calamari is very good. The Ramen is pretty good. The Wagyu is medium rare which is how I like my meats cooked. Overall, the food is good and the service is great. I will be back next time to try their sushi.

Yelp
I love ordering from here. I've yet to get into the restaurant but their takeout is great. I usually go with the sushi tacos and toro nigiri which are both delicious!!! If you're looking for amazing sushi, check them out.

Yelp
Had a very delicious experience here. I loved the food and the sauces. The menu is big so it's better to go to the kiosk but the staff is very friendly! Here's what i had: Bao Bun (pork) very good with tasty slaw Cream Cheese Crab- my kids loved this it'd very flavorful Tako-karage- fried octopus...the white sauce with this was amazing though but it still was good on its own. Seafood Ramen- broth (miso) was good but the seafood side left a lot to be desired. In a seafood it had 2 shrimp. It left more to be desired the shrimp were overcooked and i couldn't add extra. Wanted more seafood than that. Halal Lamb Ramen- the lamb was good.. the ginger however was a bit overpowering so next time I'll order without that. Still delicious nonetheless, my husband loved the lamb very well cooked. Let's get into these rolls Salmon Avocado Roll- The avocado was big didn't taste the salmon as much. Probably was my least favorite roll. Still fresh but compared to the other orders came up short. Surf & Turf Roll (8pc)- husband loved this it was wagyu beef and shrimp tempura it was such a flavorful blend. I wouldn't have expected it. Shrimp Lover Roll (8pc) this was fire with extra spicy mayo on the side it was so so good! The Spicey mayo had sweet undertones and this was hands down my second favorite. Salmon Lover Roll - i could eat this all day i love salmon and this was made to perfection it was fresh and light it had some yummy eel sauce. My favorite roll of the day. Japomen Roll pleasant surprise and had salmon as well which is i love. All that to say i would most certainly be returning. The fusion between Japanese sushi and ramen and halal i would have never envisioned but it's truly a match made in heaven!

Yelp
Fantastic - HALAL Japanese Ramen & Sushi place. Family run lead by Chef Peter, his team Jason & Justin, you will get great tasting fresh delicious food. Highly recommend it. We had the 47 piece sushi panter, chicken ramen noodles, Chicken Teriyaki bento box, edamame & Spring rolls. All deliciously fresh! Highly recommend it.

Yelp
Nice casual spot for some Sushi, Japanese rice bowls or Ramen. The sushi was good and the ramen and rice bowls were about average, but still hit the spot. The Katsu curry sauce didn't really taste like Japanese curry rather than chicken bouillon, but the cutlet was well battered and fried. The ambiance is nice as well as the service being kind and great.

Yelp
I went with a small group for dinner and restaurant was easy to find but parking was a little tricky. There are some street parking in front of restaurant but most in parking garages. The first and second levels parking are not connected. The restaurant is on a strip with other businesses such as District Taco, Kiin Imm Thai, Rice Culture. There's a menu stand in front of restaurant, 2 kiosk menu on right side and a very large overhead menu. There are some interior decors all around and interior seatings too. All staff are friendly and patient. The cashier Peter was great who was knowledgeable and attentive. We ordered 6 items: 1) Pork belly bao bun 2) Pork katsu and curry 3) Handroll sampler A 4) Kimchi ramen 5) Kimchi and spam onirigi 6) Beef onirigi. The bao buns had five protein and one vegetarian to choose from but you don't have the option to mix match as I was told. Once you placed your order, it will be hand deliver to your table. So I ordered the pork bao buns. They were delicious and the buns were airy and fresh. The katsu and curry has two protein selections (pork and chicken) which we order one of each. When it arrive to the table, the presentation of the plate was pretty. The curry itself was very flavorful, smooth and aromatic. The pork katsu remain its crispiness and had the right amount of sauce that was drizzle on top, served with rice, garnished with an orchid. The kimchi ramen was topped with pork belly, crispy tofu strips, onions, egg, green onions. Everything incorporated well except the broth which was a little salty. We were excited for the onirigi with ten protein selections but unfortunately it fell flat for us. The rice was perfect, it was fluffy and tasty but the filling wasn't much in it. The portion of the rice 90% and 10% was the selected protein. I also ordered the handroll sampler which I asked what was difference between A and B. Let me tell you, this item is a must get! The sampler comes with 3 perfectly portioned crispy eel, truffle salmon and spicy toro with truffle. The difference with B is the fresh crab meat instead of toro. Those were the best three, one biter I ever tasted! With each in its own category, they all had unique flavors that will make your palate jumping for joy. I will definitely get that sampler again as I am still salvaging from it .. lol. We will definitely make a return visit to try more dishes.

Yelp
Excellent Sushi, so far tried quite a few of the rolls and all have been delicious and very fresh! Can't speak for the other items thus far, but I've been very satisfied with the sushi. The employees here have all been amazing and very courteous even if your just getting carry out! The decor has a nice retro/modern feel which sets it apart from some of the other Japanese places in the area.

Yelp
Very good ramen. We tried the lamb ramen, spicy chicken ramen, and wagyu ramen. They each had different flavor profiles but were still delicious. It was nice that they had halal options (the chicken and the lamb) as well as gluten free dairy free options. The spicy chicken ramen smelled and looked really spicy, but was not that spicy, which I appreciated. Also appreciated the large portion sizes, but note that it appeared small at first because of the bowl size. Inside was clean with ample seating. Staff was very nice and respectful. No complaints, highly recommend.

Yelp
Brand new spot that opened up within walking distance of Dunn Loring metro! We got the: - miso ramen, - cucumber roll, - tuna roll, - spicy tuna roll - japomen udon, - creamy spicy ramen. All were delicious and came out quickly. I only wish the creamy spicy ramen had a main protein instead of just bacon bits, but maybe you can add on. Decorations are super cute, and you can order either thru iPad or at the counter. Customer service was great! Looking forward to returning.

Yelp
Best sushi in the DMV! We've been following the sushi chef/owner for several years and love his sushi and his new spot is great!

Aleeza W.

Yelp
The ramen was super bland in my opinion I've had much better ramen other places. I felt kind of nauseous after eating it. The fried dumplings were average frozen grocery store dumplings. Overall super underwhelming and not worth a try unfortunately.

Yewon

Yelp
I usually like ramen and sushi, and I really enjoyed it. The food came out fast (good quality), and the price was very good and the taste was even better than the price. I definitely come back again!
google avatar

Manuel P.

Yelp
It a girwar ramen place. Their broth is not overwhelming. The price is good. Raw seafood don't have fishy taste. Parking is available near DC tacos or public parking underneath the adjacent building.

Maricela R.

Yelp
Had the cucumber and avocado rolls delicious + fresh ingredients. Also tried the yakisoba which was very tasty and included lots of veggies, the portion was good enough for two servings.

Yelp
i've been so excited to try this since i saw that this was coming. stopped by today and got the white dragon roll and a salmon and avocado roll. really enjoyed both items. the service was great and the food tasted super fresh. will def come back!

Stephanie H.

Yelp
NO! NO! NO! This was, hands-down, the WORST "Japanese" food I have ever had. The "Spicy Creamy Ramen" was some broth with actual CREAM in it! The noodles were a thick, yellow, goopy mass. The shiitakes were sweet (?). The bamboo shoots smelled like cleaning fluid. The toro nigiri was an inedible, oily, stringy mess. The Ikura nigiri was shriveled, old, and salty. The Las Vegas roll resembled a 1st grade art project. WORST OF ALL: All of the rice used for the sushi was completely unflavored medium grain leftover Chinese white rice. Whatever these folks are trying to do -- they need to stop.

Kat S.

Yelp
Place is cute and conveniently located near the Dunn Loring Metro. You can order at the kiosk or at the counter. I decided to order at the counter and the person taking my order was very friendly and helpful since I had some questions. I ended up ordering the wagyu ramen. It was the perfect portion for me, the beef was perfectly cooked and the veggies and noodles tasted fresh. Will definitely be coming back to try some of their other items!

Fahim K.

Yelp
Very great halal options. Ramen and sushi were good and the owners/workers were very kind and friendly. Highly recommend.

A A.

Yelp
Good food. Good service. Love that the chicken is halal so I can try more of the menu!

Andrew

Yelp
It was just ok.. noodles were kind of mushy and my ramen didn't even come out hot. Not going back, I'll just go to JINYA ramen in Mosaic.
