The Best Restaurants in Cedar Park - Austin - The Infatuation

"Although San Antonio and Houston love to claim that Austin doesn’t know how to do Tex-Mex correctly, unassuming neighborhood joints like Jardin Corona prove otherwise. There’s nothing hip or cool about this restaurant, and that’s what makes it great. People come here for huge plates of cheesy enchiladas, crunchy tacos filled with seasoned beef, and queso, but we especially love their deep-fried, forearm-sized chimichangas.  Even the most committed naysayer will understand why Tex-Mex is so beloved after eating these dishes alongside one of Jardin Corona’s strong frozen margaritas or a longneck of Mexican beer." - taylor tobin, nicolai mccrary

Google
Visiting from Washington state and stopped at this spot to grab dinner and I’m glad I did. Ordered the carnitas tacos plate and the pork was so tender and juicy. Highly recommend!

Google
The service was top-notch! The salsa is incredible-- I'll come back just for it! My shrimp taco was very tasty. The shrimp was cooked well, and the cabbage was nice and crisp. The chicken taco was disappointing because the chicken was bland. Adding the awesome salsa fixed that taco. I look forward to returning.

Google
I enjoyed my food. 😋 It's nice to know people can cook Mexican 🍚 rice and beans 🫘 without chili powder. (* food allergy.)

Google
The atmosphere is a little slower paced. The bartender is really nice and we got our food in a timely manner. Probably won't go back for breakfast but I do love their dinner menu. Thanks and God bless!

Google
The servers were awesome even though we were indecisive. We wanted the patio with the cold wind was too much, so they happily moved us inside. They were patient and understanding. As we asked questions about the menu and navigated through ingredients and questions about food sensitivity. Try the queso poblano with fresh tortillas. Serving sizes are generous and The music was low enough that we could have great conversation.

Google
Mexican shrimp cocktail was excellent!! It’s hard to find true authentic Mexican food, and I have found it… This place is delicious!

Google
A good, classical Tex-Mex restaurant, a lot of food, good quality. Very fast service and consistent expected food taste. The locals eat here, But the quantity was very high, the food waste was more than I appreciate. They did offer takeaway, but as a business travellers, we can't. Overall Ok place, forgettable but can go again.

Google
Food was good. Drinks were delicious. Would definitely go again! Love it ! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I stopped in on a Tex-Mex craving, and this spot definitely hit the mark. The food isn't trying to be ultra-authentic, but it's the kind of familiar, satisfying Tex-Mex that always does the job. Portions were large, everything came out hot and flavorful, and it all tasted great. The fish tacos and enchiladas suizas are so yummy! The service was genuinely excellent. Our server was friendly and attentive without hovering, offered to split the check before we even thought to ask, and even took care of bagging up our leftovers for us. Overall, a solid choice when you want comforting Tex-Mex and genuinely thoughtful service.

Yelp
We've been steady customers, but after last night, never again. My husband stopped at Corona on his way home from work (a 40-minute drive) to pick up dinner. When we got home, part of the order was wrong. We called right away, and instead of offering to fix their mistake, they told us we'd have to drive back, which makes zero sense since it was already late and my husband had just gotten home. They didn't care that my son didn't have his dinner and simply refunded the one wrong meal. That completely defeated the purpose of picking up dinner in the first place, and the attitude from the woman on the phone was rude and dismissive. It's disappointing to see how little they care about customer service. Hope the $25 profit was worth losing regular customers, because we'll never go back.

Yelp
Ya.... No. A friend hyped this place up and so we finally got take out and was thoroughly disappointed. While the portion size is good most of the food was pretty lackluster. Starting with the chips and salsa, the red salsa is actually pretty spicy, which I appreciate but I do not enjoy chips that taste like burnt fryer oil. It's nice to make chips fresh but change the oil please. As for the mains, got their fajitas but the steak was rubbery and tough, seasoning was very light and the tortillas were falling apart. Maybe just an off day but not for me when you got better Tex Mex in town.

Yelp
Been coming here since they were at their previous location on Pond Springs. They've had the same staff for years. It's like family. The food is always delicious and hot. Great variety. Great drink options too. They have a bar area with tv's and tv's throughout the restaurant. Also have covered patio section.

Yelp
This place has consistently amazing customer service. My husband absolutely loves Jardin Corona, and we've been to more than one location, and the service really stands out here. It's a chain but it feels like a small family restaurant , and we love that. Is the food the best Tex Mex in Austin? No, but the service is consistently above and beyond, which makes coming here a regular joy for us. Mexican martini is delicious, and the pechuga was stuffed, juicy and flavorful as it should be. I have nothing bad to say. One funny thing happened while we were there -- one of the neon signs above our table let out a hiss and some smoke, but our server immediately came over to check on it and take care of us (we were not negatively impacted in any way). Great food, great service, clean restaurant. We will continue to come back!

Yelp
Having a business meeting at Jardin Corona...the first time at this location.. We both decided to have the $10.99 lunch specials - 10 lunch specials to choose from. Both my colleague and I chose the beef taco, cheese enchiladas and queso option. It also came with a large soda with one refill. I would categorize this restaurant as a value restaurant. You receive ample food and drink what you paid. The restaurant has a casual feel with Mexican music playing in the background. It reminded of growing up in San Antonio. Mary, my server, was super attentive and came to my table several times. She gave my free refill to go, which was kind of her. I have to return in the evening and try the bar menu.

Yelp
Salsa! So good! The salsa is made fresh everyday by someone who has worked there for 20 years; she has no set recipe. This salsa is made from years of perfection: a pinch of this and dash of that. Oh my gosh, it's good! The shrimp taco came with seasoned, grilled shrimp, fresh cabbage, cilantro, and a spicy sauce. Delicious! I'm definitely returning for one of those. The shredded chicken taco, however, came with flavorless chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and cheese. Thankfully the awesome salsa helped give that taco some flavor. But why was the chicken flavorless? The chalupas compuestas were larger than expected. They were piled with chicken and fresh vegetables. The guacamole was generous in relationship to the size of each chalupa. But sadly, the same flavorless shredded chicken was served here too. Overall, the presentation was fine, and the amount of food was generous. But the sad chicken was a great disappointment. I'll be back to try something that doesn't have chicken simply because I did like the shrimp taco and the salsa is primo. But I hope they read this and realize the bland chicken needs to be improved.

Yelp
We came here after our visit to the new Cedar Park library. I was hoping to stop at the location close to the library but we missed it so came here. I admit I was not sure I wanted to as the last few trips here have been disappointing but Shana wanted to give it another shot. She got a top shelf Mexican Martini and I tried a banana Jardin Swirl. Both were good but at least on mine it is fairly weak but flavorful. Waiter didn't ask about salt on the rims so we just got salt. We ordered queso and again no question on size so I think we got the large. Our waiter wasn't bad but not great either, at one point he walked by with a thumbs up so fast we couldn't have asked for anything. I got a large fajitas burrito which was pretty soild and Shana got a shrimp chimichanga which she enjoyed. The service wasn't great and the food was better then the last 3 visits but it's still mostly underwhelming and one decent visit doesn't negate 3 bad ones.

Yelp
My family loves everything about Jardín Corona! We always recommend it to our friends and neighbors. We often try new items but can confirm that the skinny margarita is the best in town. See picture for size reference.

Yelp
Back in Austin for a visit with family looking for some good Mexican food. This place has never failed. The service was excellent atmosphere was good and the food was delicious.

Yelp
The mushroom, spinach and chicken quesadilla were SO UNEXPECTEDLY GOOD! The service and drinks were also good. We will be back!
google avatar

Christyna P.

Yelp
The nachos were good. A lot of toppings the only thing i would change is thicker chips. Once toppings are melted on chip the bottom gets a little soggy.
google avatar

Vicki G.

Yelp
My husband was excited because Jardin Corona offers Suizas Enchiladas without the nearly ubiquitous tomatillo sauce. But, alas -- the Suizas were just blah, rather dull and lacking enough sauce. I ordered the Enchilada Trio (chicken, cheese and beef). Meh. The chicken filling was dry and tough; the cheese was very processed; the beef was underwhelming. Rice and beans were ok. Salsa and chips were pretty tasty. Top shelf margarita tasted like a mix. The restaurant appears to be one large room built around a large bar. Brown booths and lack of decor add no ambiance to the setting, and the MANY large-screen tvs do not offer any atmospheric relief.
google avatar

Yelp
Jardin Corona is by far one of my favorite Mexican restaurants. I've been going here for 30+ years. The salsa is just perfect, always cold and crisp. Nothing I've had on the menu has disappointed me. The special platters are a great way of having a taste of a number of options on the menu, but be aware, the serving sizes are generous.
google avatar

Naomi S.

Yelp
Great atmosphere. Great service. Food hot and delicious. Their salsa is really good too with endless refills.

Yelp
Excellent salsa and the fried jalapenos and ranch were amazing! The rice was perfect and the veggies and guacamole were very fresh!!!

Jennfung Y.

Yelp
I love Taco Salad! This is the only place I can still find the Taco Salad in a fried tortilla bowl I love. It comes with Guacamole and sour cream. The salsa is delicious and fresh. Everything is delicious and comes in generous portion.

Jill P.

Yelp
The food was great! Even the service was really good! Paid by credit card $41.59, I left the girl a $10 cash tip. When I received my credit card statement, I noticed they charged an additional $10 on top of my bill, without my permission!!! Never going back here!
google avatar

Ramin A.

Yelp
Not for the refined palate. If you're looking to come here just for the beers and cocktails you will not be disappointed. However the food is bland and reminds me of those TV dinners. The service was great, kudos to our waiter. I liked the ambiance with plenty of booths and TVs by the bar area. Like I said you can't go wrong with the cocktails but save your money and stay clear of the food.

Zachary W.

Yelp
Walked in at 1 pm on a sat, half the parking lot was empty. So many open tables and still told a 20-30 min wait. Generally not a problem to wait but we haven't eaten. That just seemed absurd and the staff wasn't really friendly with us. Will not be trying our luck with this place again.
google avatar

LaRon E.

Yelp
I took some coworkers out for lunch and they recommended this place, the ambience is that of a casual restaurant the food I ordered the lunchtime quesadillas which were very plentiful. They were very good as far as the service. It was good nothing to brag about little bit slow, but overall the experience was good..

Yelp
Jardine Corona Cedar Park is a comfortable restaurant with moderately priced excellent Mexican foods and drinks. It has the feel of a neighborhood facility that is welcoming and serves delicious food with friendly staff and fast service. It is set back from the main road with adequate close parking. Try it. You will like it !!!

Yelp
Like coming to this restaurant. Have been coming here for years. I've had quite a few things on the menu and have never been disappointed. I love their chips and salsa. Whenever I come in the waitresses and waiters have been very helpful. This has been a great place to eat. I had the waiter tell me the tortillas are homemade, although I do have my doubts. I think they're more along the lines of premade and reheated because they're not that great when you stack them up against true homemade tortillas. I like to get any of the polio dishes. And when I really want something spicy, I get fajitas à la Mexicana. All the dishes come with plenty of food, the atmosphere is nice, and there is patio seating on the side of the building if you prefer to eat outside.
google avatar

Clint S.

Yelp
Since we've been coming here, the standards have unfortunately declined. Because of Father's Day the place was packed with families celebrating which was sweet. Aside from that, a lot was left to be desired. The chips were stale, salsa wasn't spicy at all (borderline sweet actually), the fajitas had no char whatsoever, and both of my drinks tasted like pure mix without any tequila at all. The only highlight was our awesome server who busted his ass.
google avatar

Talia T.

Yelp
Came here with a girlfriend for dinner! We wanted to sit outside, but the server outside, didn't acknowledge us at all, so we were confused on if we were supposed to talk to someone in or outside. We went in, a lady helped us, we told her we'd like to sit outside so she went and told the guy, he nodded but didn't bother from looking up from his phone. The lady ended up helping us instead, she was super nice and helpful! The food and drinks are really good too! The menu can be a little overwhelming. I'd def come back, probably just a hit or miss when it comes to the servers!

Elsa T.

Yelp
Dont do this often, went last night (6/20) for dinner. Service was great! But the food was terrible. Starting from the choriqueso we ordered. It was like chewing rubber. Greasy beyond measure, and yes i understand that chorizo can be greasy but this was greasy to the point of it dripping down our arms. Husband ordered chicken milanesa and the chicken was just as rubbery as the choriqueso. He left 90% of the chicken. I ordered quesadilla and there is no real way of messing that up. $50 down the drain. Very disappointed. This place has been a hit or miss.

Yelp
Absolutely love jardin and have been coming here since I was a kid. Their food is much better than most of the places around the area and their margs and Mexican martinis never disappoint. So delish!
google avatar

M D.

Yelp
Staff friendly and attentive, and they are bzzzy! Chips and salsa are great. Beer is cold and served in cold mugs. The ambiance is great! Don't listen to the negative reviews. Try this place and see for yourself!

Yelp
Great authentic Mexican food! Was very impressed with all the choices and how well everything tasted! Yes, I recommend this place!

Kim K.

Yelp
Fantastic restaurant! Great salsa (the true mark of a great Tex-Mex place), great food, good prices. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Come hungry. Leave full. First time here, and hands down, will be a regular stop for us for margaritas bigger than my...head! Also topping the list is their fajita nachos and fried ice cream! Service at the bar was attentive, and super friendly from Johnny & Sergio. Mouth is watering waiting until our next visit!

Jonathan M.

Yelp
The food was very fresh and the service was super friendly. Really enjoyed it. Really nice large patio for outdoor dining.

Yelp
The local Tex Mex pride. What started as a hole in the wall on Pond Springs in the 90's with some hot sauce competition trophies on the wall moved to the former pizza place in the 2000's which then expanded into the dressmaker's old spot. Then moved to its current location. Over 25 years of history here. Its secret shows, affordable good food. Good drink prices. Lunch specials, breakfast menu (Avoid ordering potatoes, they never seem to get them right.) It's old hat to say things in Austin aren't as good as they were. I don't have a plate of tacos from when I was 12 to compare it to now, but I still bring my friends and family here, and they still enjoy it.
google avatar

rachel j.

Yelp
Love this place. Took some friends here recently and everything was great. Love their spicy margs and veggie enchiladas. I wish the chips had been better but our waitress was very attentive and friendly and the restaurant had a cool vibe. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Diana N.

Yelp
Quick service. Good food. Very affordable for large portions. Supreme breakfast taco $4.49- this was huge for the price. Gave my bf half. Bacon slice was very crispy but a tad salty. Potatoes were great. Cheesy eggs. I omitted the jalapenos. Jardin Migas $10.99- sil recommended this, and my bf killed it. Potatoes were really good! Beans were typical. Eggs very cheesy. He got half chicken half beef fajita. Huge plate served with tortillas. Vegetarian omelet $9.99- Mom said not enough eggs but plenty of veggies. Seemed like she liked it, though. Brother got 2 bfast tacos, and he couldn't even finish them. One taco was pretty big, especially for $2-3.

Yelp
Good food, good prices. I am a Texan by birth. I believe all Texans need to love and appreciate Mexican food. We used to go to Ponchos in Dallas when I was a wee little one, as a family, and eat almost every Sunday. My expectations of Mexican food are based on that. It needs to taste good, not too spicy, not too bland, and fill you up enough that you probably need a nap afterwards. Jardin Corona delivered. I ordered my "go to" favorite dish, enchiladas verde. The chicken was above average. Sometimes, chicken in this dish has the consistency of canned tuna and I literally hate that. Not so here! It was freshly shredded and flavorful. Chips and salsa were very good. Our terrific waitress, Cindy, even offered to bring us a spicy salsa if we preferred it. My guy likes it hot ( like his women ;-) ). The spicy stuff could be sold as OTC sinus medication- hot hot and clears your head! Tea was on point also. I need brewed tea, never instant. I also ask for half sweet, half unsweetened- it was perfect. The only negative for me is the atmosphere. Not great, but Jardin Corona took over an old sports bar space. So it is what it is. Good food, good prices, excellent service. We'll be back. Y'all give it try too.
google avatar

AJ R.

Yelp
Bottom Line: Excellent service, professional, and the food was not bad I was in town for the week for a business thing, 30 minutes off the place and starving. After getting booked into my hotel, I noticed this place across the parking lot and there's nothing like a mom n pop Mexican food spot. I grabbed a seat at the bar and had a few drinks, ate my Enchiladas and chatted with the bar staff. The people there were cool and very professional, there are a million (possibly more) TV's in this spot (I always forget how much Texans enjoy their sports) so it was an enjoyable experience. If I'm ever back in town for work, I'll have to check this spot out again!

Yelp
Neighbor local favorite and I ran into a few coworkers celebrating some promotions! Hungry and celebrating

Yelp
Why 5 Stars let's just say this It's super close to my house and they are always accommodating when we show up near closing time and always take care of us with a smile. The owner/manager and staff are always super nice and treat us like family, I'm not sure if it's because we go there 2-4 time a week or that they are just really nice people in general either way we love they way they are and how they treat us every time. Well you ask what food and drink are the best: Can't go wrong with the margaritas all flavors frozen or on the rocks. Beer on tap, well I wish their prices were more in line with other local restaurants I can get the same size draft beer for $4.50- $5.50 at other restaurants here at Jardines it's $9.50 and up, so if I'm drinking beer then we usually go elsewhere. Most of the food on the menu is great and they allow substitutions and are always on top of the refills for chips and salsas. Thank you all for always being Nice

Yelp
My wife and I, about to be empty nest, have been a regular at this 183 location on Sunday nights. We always sit at the bar, and the atmosphere is great. Bartenders are constitent, nice, and always snappy with the drinks. Margs are excellent, especially the rocks. The Queso is good, not the best I've had, but very good. The salsa is excellent , chips are very good too. We sometimes split fajitas, the beef and chicken are both excellent. Their chicken enchiladas are very good and the cheese enchiladas are great. I've had chicken Taquitos too, and very good. This isn't what I call high end TexMex. It's a casual, very good food, family restaurant. I can eat here 2 or 3 times a week and be as happy as it gets. So the 5 star is based on the type of restaurant it is. It's the casual go to, and I love it. It gets very busy, and I'be had a few times the waiter was a little swamped at tables, but they busted their tail to catch up and I put myself through college as a server, so I give some patience on that if they get triple sat, ha. Overall, this is a family, TexMex spot, always good.

Laura B.

Yelp
I have been here twice, once for takeout for dinner when they were slammed and once for lunch to eat-in this past Sunday and both experiences were excellent. This restaurant is just North of McNeil in the shopping center with Main Event. They have a nice covered patio. Their chips and salsa are just right. Beef enchiladas, rice and beans are excellent. Chicken and beef fajitas are excellent. Beer came out extra cold in a chilled mug. My friend said their burritos are great, so I'll try them next. Portion sizes are generous, and prices aren't bad. Service is responsive and efficient even when they are busy. I am perplexed why the reviews aren't higher. I have recommended this gem to my friends.

Yelp
Honestly, I came in expecting this to be very much like Chuy's - good food but not the most authentic Tex Mex food. We came in for Saturday lunch and just luckily made it before the breakfast window ended at 1 pm because the breakfast tacos options are numerous. I no longer live in the Austin area so I miss breakfast tacos like crazy (and also Texas prices). I ordered the barbacoa two and the chorimigas taco, and they were arrived with plenty of filling, which I was pleasantly surprised by. Each taco was about $2-3, depending on what you choose. We also decided to order a round of margaritas because they're only $5?!? (If you order them flavored, they're $6.) Finally, service was pretty great. Our waitress was very nice, checked on us a few times, and when she made a mistake on the receipts she realized it before she even gave them to us and left to correct it immediately. Thanks! TL;DR Food: 4/5 decent but great for the price Drinks: 5/5 great, especially for the price Ambiance: 3/5 eh very stereotypical decor for a Tex Mex restaurant Service: 5/5

Yelp
Jardin Corona never fails to deliver yummy food and amazing drinks. I frequently go there with my boyfriend, sister, and other family members. Service is usually prompt and attentive. The food is spot on and the drinks are consistently good! They have some of the best chips and salsa! We have tried so many things on their menu...chicken fajitas, chicken and shrimp fajitas, fish tacos, enchiladas, mole poblano, pollo de caldo, pollo tequila, and steak mexicana. It's all been excellente!! So if you're in the mood for some great Tex Mex...come here! Your belly will be happy!

Yelp
Meh. Not impressed. My mom, dad, husband and I all went here for Mother's Day dinner. Seemed like our waiter may have had some difficulty understanding our orders or didn't understand English very well bc we had to repeat ourselves multiple times. Thankfully my mother was the only one who spoke Spanish out of the group so she was able to speak more in depth with him... 3 of us ordered waters, they were never refilled after we received them. My father ordered a combination plate and the first thing that came out was the saddest looking excuse for Mexican food I've ever seen. A singular tostada chip with queso sloppily thrown ontop, and some guac... what? When all our food finally came out it was OK, but most of us felt like it lacked seasoning. We've all had better. Won't be back.

Nicki S.

Yelp
Love this restaurant for it's consistent service and quality food. You're also able to enjoy the sports from any table in the restaurant. Highly recommend.
google avatar

Janine R.

Yelp
This is the biggest Taco Salad ever!! Delicious too! I have never had a bad meal here, and I've been coming since they opened on Pond Springs road.
google avatar

GW A.

Yelp
The move from Pond Springs to the 183 N/B feeder unfortunately left some of the good flavors and spices behind, it seems- the main table salsa has weakened (ask for the picosa if you expect heat) and the fajitas now have more in common with the bigger chains like Serrano's. I call it gringo-ization. Fortunately, their Mexican martinis are still our benchmark for Austin-area Mexican eateries.
google avatar

Missy J.

Yelp
Such good food!!! I got a combo plate and loved it. Never thought I'd say a flaunts had too much meat but the chicken one was packed. They flour tortilla were delicious and the fajita beef taco was huge !! My bf got the chicken fajitas and WOW HUGE and the chicken was so moist and flavorful. I'll def be back.... huge portions, yummy food and decent prices. We also got the house margarita, not my favorite but I LOVE tequila. Next I got the top shelf Mexican Martina, loves it.
google avatar

Parris T.

Yelp
In walking distance from the hotel. I ordered the enchiladas... too salty for me! The chicken was dry. The bartender was nice and made me 2 lovely margaritas!
