The Mimram bridge, designed by architect Marc Mimram, connects the two shores of Kehl, Germany and Strasbourg, France. It was built in 2004 as a symbol of "bridging" a connection between the peoples of both states. There are two paths on the bridge, one for pedestrians and one for cyclists with a large platform in the center. There are gardens on both sides of the bridge with nice open spaces. We only spent a day here but I could easily see myself spending hours here daily picnicking or just relaxing.
Even though we were here only a short time, I was so enamored with this bridge, I walked back and forth over it 5 or 6 times, each time stopping here and there to look over the sides, taking dozens of pictures of the bridge or selfies to convince friends that I was actually here, and to just sit and unwind on the center platform. I even had a chance to chat with some locals who thankfully knew how to speak English. The bridge is a symbol of friendship between the two shores so it was pretty cool that it was a way to for me to make new friends. :)
I hope I get another chance to visit here someday.
