Napa Valley Wineries That Offer Unusual Tasting Experiences - AFAR

"Perched on Atlas Peak, the owners built underground tasting spaces to preserve the surrounding hills, leading guests down dusty tunnels with parabolic curves, moody lighting, curved bronze doorways, oversized casks and metal tanks, and even an underground waterfall that heightens anticipation. The subterranean setting is atmospheric and intriguing, and the estate-grown wines—notably precise Burgundian chardonnays, silky cabernet francs, and expressive merlot blends—offer character that matches the dramatic architecture." - Maria C. Napa Valley’s Best Wine Cave Tours | Eater SF

"William and Leticia Jarvis were ahead of the curve when they built their Atlas Mountain estate winery entirely underground back in the 1980s. Winery President Will Jarvis says his parents hired the same machines that dug the Chunnel, the undersea tunnel connecting England and France, to create their caves, which feature parabolic arches that evoke an underground cathedral. Besides the exquisite long-aged Cabs and Burgundian Chardonnay, the coolest feature at Jarvis may be the waterfall and creek that keep the caves feeling fresh." - Maria C. Hunt

We have been members of Jarvis for 4 years and counting now! Our first tour with Cora we became instantly hooked and made a friend for life! She is insanely knowledgeable on the wines, the area, and most importantly the friendliest and loveliest person you’ll meet. We have no brought multiple friends and family back for tours who have also joined! We attend their events year after year! And we hold their wines in a special place in our heart and consider some of our top top wines!! I could not recommend Jarvis and Cora if you can schedule her!! ❤️❤️❤️🍷🍷🍷

Google
Jarvis is the most incredible wine tasting experience I have ever had! As a long time Napa wine lover, and having experienced countless different wineries/varieties of tours, I can honestly say Jarvis goes above and beyond the rest! The tour is informative, fun & beautiful. The staff is the BEST! Their knowledge, passion, joy, and humor all shine through on each tour. It doesn’t matter who you get, trust me, it will be good! Cora and Rob have always taken Great care of us…if you’re lucky enough to get a tour with them, you’re in for an amazing time. And finally-the wines! WOW! We are absolutely hooked on Jarvis wines. They are some of the most beautiful wines we’ve ever had the opportunity to taste. My personal favorites are the Merlot, Tempranillo, and the Lake William blend. The Chardonnay is also a heavenly treat. Do yourself a favor and book a tour at Jarvis! You won’t regret it.

Google
Simply the best visitor experience in Napa Valley. When I have friends going out there, if they have time in their schedule for ONE winery to visit, I send them here. When you arrive, you enter a door leading into the side of hill. You are in for a spectacular tour and tasting. This cave looks like something a Bond Villian would have built. It’s unreal until you see it. And if they are really lucky, they will get Cora as their host. She’s one of, if not the best, doing it these days. And the wine? Come on. Lush Chardonnay, Exquisite Cabs and Merlot. Don’t sleep on the Tempranillo, it’s my favorite. And their Lake William will stand toe to toe with any Bordeaux you can bring. It’s that good. Come see for yourself. But be careful, you WILL want to join their club.

Google
A stunning tour with even better wines. Having taken the tour a few times, both Isiah and David provide excellent curated experiences filled with interesting winery history, funny stories, and a flair for the dramatic. Jarvis is a must for both the experienced and novice wine fan.

Google
I fell in love with Cabernet Franc bc of Jarvis ..it was my “AHA moment”. The cave is truly epic, and the team, including Cora, Sil, and Ted, are BEYOND delightful and have created many memorable experiences for us. The harvest tasting and ball are truly exceptional experiences, with meticulous attention to detail and thoughtfulness. If you are lucky enough to attend one of these events you will be blown away !

Google
We Enjoy our Jarvis Experiences each and every time! The staff is so welcoming and appreciative of our visit in. A must stop if in the area. Thanks, Cora, Rob, Sil and the while Jarvis production team!

Google
Spectacular wines and a truly unique wine cave experience. The tour by David was very special. Sincere thanks to Jarvis Estate. We can't wait to return.

Google
What a unique experience! Really enjoyed the underground tour and it was truly unique compared to other winery tastings. The tour was great! The wine was good. We would definitely recommend it to others.

Yelp
One of my favorite wineries I've been to in Napa. Not only does the winery exude elegance, the wines are not overly sweet and well rounded. I quite enjoyed selection that I had to purchase a case. The tour was enlightening and our tour guide was well versed in the process of how the wines were made and was able to tell us a lot of the history of the place. The caves were breath taking and I absolutely adored the crystal room. Make sure you make a reservation since it is by appointment only. Definitely a must go destination if you are in Napa!

Yelp
If you are in Napa Valley, this is the place you NEED to visit. I went to a few wineries and this is by far the most interesting one. Not only that, my tour-guide gave me the best experience ever. Their tours are reasonably priced, although they are on the higher-end when compared to other wineries. But what you pay for becomes apparent when you enter their lot. A beautiful, nature-filled road leads you to their gates that resemble something grand. They offer outside parking right before you reach the doors and you walk a short distance to enter their cave; which is where the tour begins. Jonathan greeted me as soon as I walked in and let me know that the tour I booked, which normally consists of a few people, would be private since I booked at an unpopular time. Obviously, I was excited! He led me in and made sure I was well taken care of. I never knew someone could know this much about one particular topic, but Jonathan was well-versed. He taught me everything from how they made their wine, to how the history of this cave was incorporated into the business model. It was very nice to have someone with that much passion show me around. Compared to other places, this was the most informative wine tour as well. At the end of our tour, I was given a notepad and pen to take notes on, while I was presented with different types of wine, nuts, and cheese and was given a quick pairing lesson on it all. Listen, I know I sound way too excited writing this review, but please try it out.. you'll understand why.

Yelp
This is my first wine experience. We signed up for the site tour and wine tasting. This place didn't disappoint. My friends and I went to another winery but by far this is the best wine experience I have ever had and my friends also agrees with me. The tour was very informative. Briton was our lovely tour guide. He was very knowledgeable regarding the history of Jarvis and wine. He was so kind to share other wineries around the area. They were about 7to of us in our group and we were all asking where else can be have a winery experience. He grew up and has lived in the Napa for awhile hence he seems the right person to ask for recommendations for other wineries and good restaurants to eat at. Jarvis is unique because it is a cave. We had a unique experience. Jarvis has a huge room that store their barrels. On the ceiling they had fiber optic lighting. They have this massive door the automatically open by a push of a button. I suggest this experience should be captured on a video. A picture would not justify this picture. I also suggest to video tape at the part where your tour guide take you at the water fall. This is a picturesque moment and this should also be captured by photos. We had 6 different wine tasting plus two extra ones that was unexpected. There was only one white wine and the rest were red wines. 1. 2020 Finch Hollow Chardonnay. Aged 12 months in New French burgundy oak, selling for $175 / 750ml 2. 2019 Tempranillo. Aged 12 months in French oak $110 /750ml 3. 2018 Merlot. Aged 21 months in New Futaie French oak, $190 / 750 ml 4. 2018 Carbanet Sauvignon. Aged 27 months in New Haute French Futaie French oaks, $260, 750 ml 5. 2018 Lake William, $325, 750 ml 6. 2013 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, $400 / 750 ml

Yelp
If you are looking for a unique experience, Jarvis Estate deli era! The high-end wines are coupled with a first class tasting experience and tour of the winery--all underground! The wines are NOT cheap (each bottle is over $200), so keep this in mind when deciding whether to visit. We're sure to come again when we're in Napa.

Yelp
One of my closest friends and I went to Napa Valley in July 2023. One of the wineries that we visited was Jarvis Winery. According to VisitNapaValley.com and JarvisWines.com websites, the Jarvis Estate sits 1200 feet above the Napa city and is the world's first entirely subterranean winery. Jarvis Winery has a 45,000 square foot cave that houses their entire wine-making process from crush to extended bottle aging. The stream and waterfall running through the center of the winery function to maintain the humidity level in the cave at an ideal level for the barrel aging of wines. When we visited in July 2023, we did a wine tour and then a wine tasting afterwards. The cave is beautiful! The pictures I took doesn't do it justice. The wine tasting was fun because it was a lot of different categories of wine and flavors were complex. My faves were their Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. It was my first time trying a Cabernet Franc - and it was definitely memorable. Definitely worth a trip! I also love that it is still family owned, and they have plans to keep it that way! Yelp
This winery and property are a bit off the beaten path but well worth the time to visit. Unique and stunning in so many ways...not just another cave. Wines are terrific and offer a nice selection among varietals. Our host Cora was outstanding and despite harvest still being in full swing, winemaker Scott Morrison took time to chat as we passed him on the tour. The space is amazing and I am not going to give away any highlights. Go and check it out for yourself!

Yelp
This was such a cool experience! This was winery 2 out of 3, and we really liked how it broke up the sit down tastings. The caves were very interesting to learn about and walk through, and Jarvis' winemaking is an incredible process to learn about. We really liked the wines and we had a great and knowledgeable host.

Yelp
Awesome experience and a must-do. You need to visit Jarvis Winery! First time to Napa Valley and not much of a wine person. We called Jarvis to see if they had a tour and tasting on a Saturday morning for 3. Staff over the phone were very accommodating and helpful and able to get our group on a tour during the afternoon. When you arrive you are buzzed into the property through the entrance gate and make your way through the property on a beautiful drive to the Cave. The property has EV charging and you can also bring your own plug if you have 110 or 240 or use the CCS plug provided. If you own a Tesla bring your adapter. You enter into the cave through large door into the waiting area. If you are early I would recommend asking to use the restroom where they accompany you through the cave to the restroom, you will get a sneak peek. You will get see the Cave as a preview and it is mind-blowing how gorgeous it is the the cave, if it is your first time. We had Briton as our guide and he was great. He answered all of the wine questions and if he didn't know the answer he would let the group know he would research and get back with us. The cave has large doors and a waterfall in the middle of the cave that helps with humidity. They give you the history of the family, wine, barrels, property, construction, any mechanical information, and any other questions you may have. The tasting is just your group in a large tasting room with great acoustics that makes the experience wonderful. Had 5 wine tastings with 2 extra glasses. They specialize in reds so we only tasted 1 white wine. For a non wine aficionado, the tour was top notch and I would recommend and go back before any other winery in the Napa Valley. If we were to do Napa Valley again I would try to schedule Jarvis as the last tasting because everthing after Jarvis was a let down. Thank you to the Jarvis family for opening your estate for a great experience.

Yelp
Another wonderful experience in the most unique winery in Napa. Our party of 14 were guests of an Inner circle member, thus the $150 fee was waved. For many in our group it was their first visit & they were awed by the tour & the wines. I noticed the menu is of higher quality than the standard menu we had in previous 2 visits. The even brought out the reserved cab & the off menu DTX red. Much thanks to our gracious inner circle member host Joyce! Yelp
We joined this prestigious winery in November and brought more family members to celebrate my husband's birthday yesterday. Jonathan was our guide the first time and we requested him again. Jonathan is informative, professional and an all around great guy. He is an asset to Jarvis for sure. My son's in laws joined yesterday as They too fell in love with the wine and the tour and property. What a special place this is. I was surprised ch a special treat and made for the perfect birthday celebration. Thank you and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
So happy we were able to finally stop by this winery. There is a beautiful stream thru the cave. Our host was very knowledgeable and you can tell the pride he had by working there. We were able to do a tasting with wine members, which meant they opened up special bottles for us !!!!! Great surprise. A must visit for those who want to elevate their tasting.

Marc T.

Yelp
I was looking for cool and interesting wineries to visit and Jarvis came up on my search. Aside from the grapes this winery is entirely inside of a cave system which they made in the moutain side. It was incredible! There was a little water fall and large entertainment rooms. We all really liked the wines. The wines were expensive but I let the wife buy what she wanted as we all need to enjoy life once in a while right? Our host was Rob. Rob was a great host who gave us the tour and history of the place with bits of humor. We did a wine tasting with some very delectable pairings. I highly recommend checking out Jarvis if you want to see something unique.

Yelp
I've been to many wineries and this place is one of my favorites. They have a cave and a waterfall underneath. The tasting included a tour of the entire facility which was cool because they do everything themselves even the bottling. The people are also very friendly and I learned a lot. The wine is also really good. I maybe didn't like the white but because I'm not a fan of whites. Many others liked it.

Yelp
This was the highlight of all winery tours/tastings during a recent trip to the Napa Valley area. A very interesting place to visit-a winery in a cave that is ornate and awesome to tour. The wine tasting was very well done with cheeses, nuts, fruits and light crackers and yes, the wine was the highlight. As a fairly novice wine drinker, I now realize what the "fuss is all about"! Finally, the tour guide, Rob, was entertaining, informative and engaging.

Yelp
I've been to Jarvis Winery twice for tastings, and while it's a bit on the pricey side, it's worth experiencing at least once. The underground setting beneath the barrels is stunning, with a river running through adding to the wine-like ambiance. The grounds are also picturesque. Although I'm not personally a fan of the wine, I do recommend visiting the winery for its beauty and unique atmosphere. The tasting is fun and informative. The staff is friendly and helpful.

Yelp
Every winery we went to was unique and special but I don't know if there's anything that can top the experience at Jarvis. The educational aspects of the tour, the craftsmanship in winemaking, the history - you really feel like you're getting to know the Jarvis'. Of course the tasting was incredible. My favorite aspect was being able to compare the 2016, 2013, and 2011 vintages and reserve cabs. Each tasted so different and complex particularly the pronounced bell peppers in the 2011 reserve!
google avatar

Christopher K.

Yelp
Jarvis Winery is amazing and I feel special each time I go. The estate grounds are beautiful and private. The wine is amazing. Would definitely recommend!

Yelp
They had a deal for two, and it was decently priced. Great tour, great host, and really awesome experience
google avatar

Yelp
The cave tour alone is worth the visit but the wine will make you stay! Thank you Rob, Jonathan, and Sil, for the incredible consideration and kindness you provided. From the moment we arrived we felt like family, truly an incredible experience! Thank you--the Shotts.
google avatar

Khuong N.

Yelp
This winery is at the top of my list for best wines, besides the cabs. The cabs are unique with the flavor especially the one with a jalapeño taste. Just not for me. All the other wines were by far my favorites out of a 20-30 Napa wineries I've been too. Tasting and tour is $150 per person. We had Brandon and he was very knowledgeable and informative of the history of the winery. Will definitely be back here.
google avatar

Yelp
No other way to describe Jarvis outside of jaw dropping. I will be honest and say I did not look too much into the winery beforehand, more so of a "Of the moment" decision to make a distant drive from the Napa valley floor. After trekking a decent sized mountain, you come along to a standard gate and are let in only by the intercom, so not a casual drive up for guests. The entrance itself leaves you to wonder what's inside as there is no building..it's literally two large doors bored into a mountain. The inside itself definitely shows it's age, so it's been around awhile. Our tour guide was fantastic, which was our host as well as this is not a standard winery setup with a bar and several hosts standing around (Very intimate). So to fast forward, the tour is absolutely mind boggling, the amount of money it took to bore out this indoor cave system is insane, as every room we entered we all had to pick our jaws up off the floor. Obviously I can sit here and explain everything in detail, but I believe the pictured do it more justice to be honest. When we were moved to our private tasting area, we could see it is all about the high end experience here, as their entry level wine starts at $145 (Chardonnay) and only goes up from there. The flight accompanied by food was superb and I can clearly see why they can ask so much for their wine to be honest. To sum it up, this is a special stop and one that should not be added with several other wineries on your jaunt through Napa. Expect to spend some time and serious money here as it is well worth it.

Yelp
There is definitely something special about this winery. We were really excited to visit and taste because the entire winery exists inside a mountain. We were both impressed and greatly enjoyed our tour and tasting at the winery. The winery itself is beautiful, and the wine was delicious. Our guide was so knowledgeable about everything Jarvis, and it was a such a pleasant afternoon in Napa. Definitely worth a visit.
google avatar

Munzer Q.

Yelp
The cave winery is a just unique experience in itself. Our guide Cora took us thru an amazing tour of the caves where the wine is made and stored. After the tour we settled in a beautiful decorated room and enjoyed 6 wines with snacks. Cora was amazing in her information about Jarvis and the Napa region. 5 stars all the way. Enjoy and don't miss this amazing experience!

Yelp
This wine tour was very nice! It love that the whole winery is in a cave. The cave is amazing and very unique. I would have liked if we started off with a glass of wine, or while we were looking king at the barrels and machines we got to taste what was currently in production, but at the end we went to the tasting room and were able yo taste 6 wines. I usually do not like Merlots, but their Merlot was very good. The tour guide was very nice and informative and knew a lot about the wines. If you are looking for a different atmosphere while wine tasting this is absolutely the place to go!

Yelp
Our absolute favorite Estate Winery in the Napa region. If your in the area and are a true wino this place is a must. They are reservation only and definitely on the pricey side, but its well worth it. Came here in March for a private tour and had a great time. The Wine cellar itself is located in a man-made cave located in one of the hills on the estate. The cellar is huge, cool, and something I've never seen before. Now as for the wine, there all delicious. Your tasting is paired with a yummy French imported goat cheese, crackers, and assorted nuts. The wine tour guide was fantastic and taught us not only about the property, its history, and wines; but also wine history and pairing it. Overall a must if your in Napa, cheers!

Yelp
Supporting a Veteran Owned business this time, we made reservations to do the vineyard's cave tour and wine testing during the holiday weekend. Most wineries were booked solid so we were quite fortunate they had an opening for us. Driving up to the huge gate, we buzzed in for our reservation. We parked and walked over a pretty bridge to get to the cave's entrance. Howzit, we met Daniel, whose father is from Hawaii too! His tribal inked sleeve gave it away :) Dan was the best tour guide! Extremely knowledgeable about Jarvis operations and always spoke highly of this exquisite wine. We learned so much history behind the 25 year legacy....Congrats Jarvis! The cave tour was fun. The wine tasting was perfect. Lots of lovely flavors, our favorite was the Lake William Blend. Even though covid precautions kept us outside for that portion of our reservation, Dan still took good care of us. Great job Dan, we had a wonderful time!
google avatar

Roxanne L.

Yelp
Visited Jarvis for a tasting tour with a group a friends (pre-COVID). Jarvis offers a super intimate tasting experience and tour, you will feel like your group is the only one there the whole time. The tasting part of the tour takes place in your own private cave room. The grounds of the winery are extremely beautiful, unlike any Napa winery I have been to before. Lastly, you cannot leave this winery without taking home a bottle (or more) of wine. One of my favorites!
google avatar

Aiko T.

Yelp
Such a wonderful experience my husband and I had in Jarvis Winery. Wines are sooo delicious. Next level for sure!! We purchased some bottles even it was pricey, but it's worth it.

Yelp
The most expensive of wine tastings in Napa, but SO WORTH IT. When you're in Napa for the first time, it's go big or go home, right? Outside of the tastings, wines are only sold to club members and to a handful of fine-dining restaurants around the world. Find it tucked away right outside of Napa on Hwy 121 going eastbound. The cave really is a different world, and the staff pride themselves on the intricate production process. A $100 tour gives you a walkthrough of the entire process as you see the different parts of the cave, a tour of some of the iconic rooms, and a tasting of six different wines in one of the tasting rooms. You'll be seated with guests with the same reservation time, and it really is an immersive experience. I got to try: *2018 Finch Hollow Chardonnay ($145/750 ml) *2015 Cabernet Blanc ($140/750 ml) *2016 Merlot ($150/750 ml) *2014 Cabernet Sauvignon ($175/750 ml) *2014 Lake William Blend ($230/750 ml) *2012 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon ($350/750 ml) I don't usually drink reds, but for some reason, I really enjoyed the reds from here. Perhaps it was due to the special production process, or maybe it was due to the fabulous company I shared. The tour guide was amazing (he's like a jolly uncle!), our group meshed together really well, and the wines are world-class. I can't afford individual bottles, but definitely wanna come back here to do the experience again with different people!

Yelp
Always a pleasure to take a tour and tasting at Jarvis. I have been a member for sometime and have been extremely happy with the way I am treated. Your experience starts with the winding, picturesque drive to the caves. We were fortunate to see a mama deer and her babies strolling through the grounds. Jarvis tasting is an underground experience with a Beautiful cave and delicious wines. The tasting is what you make of it. If you want an education in vineyard to bottle it's yours, presented in an understandable, non pretentious Manner or just take a stroll through the winding cave and underground natural waterfalls, and enjoy the beauty. Jarvis has a wine profile that will Touch every pallet. Jarvis is In the upper End of pricing so check their tasting fees to be sure it fits for you. Jarvis was squared away through COVID and set up an outside tasting as soon as they could. They adhere to current COVID protocols while Making it as comfortable as they can for you. I quite frequently take friends there and without a doubt we meet people in our tasting group, usually from out of state, that we have accompany us to our next tasting event and that we share numbers with to meet up on their next visit. Great people, great wine.

Rick S.

Yelp
A long time favorite of ours! We love the experience and service. Since moving out of state a few years ago we missed our visit but continue to purchase online. If you haven't tried Jarvis, now is the time...do not wait to experience one of the best wineries out there.

David T.

Yelp
Fantastic winery with best in class tasting experience. Our tour guide (Jonathan) was an excellent host and very knowledgeable about the history of the winery and the wines. Jarvis is clearly focused on quality over quantity which is refreshing. Expect to pay more for their wine but it worth it.
google avatar

Jason T.

Yelp
We had a great tour of Jarvis Winery. Susan was a great host, she provided great details on the history of the estate. We really enjoyed seeing the caves and the process of wine making. We had great conversation during our tasting, the wines were all spectacular. We ended up purchasing a few and will definitely be ordering more. Highly recommend visiting Jarvis when in Napa.

Yelp
A vineyard that a must to visit, the place is very pretty the ambiance, view and customer service is excellent.
google avatar

Guisela L.

Yelp
If you get a chance to try Jarvis it is a wonderful experience. The tour is extensive and the wine itself is exquisite. Our guide was very informative and personable, she even had a lovely Irish accent. The caves are amazing to see. If there was a flaw it's that this location is way up the mountain so I'm not sure if it should be your last stop on a tasting day.
google avatar

Jen W.

Yelp
What an amazing, elegant winery! Jarvis is definitely upscale and at $100/per person, you should expect to try amazing wines and take a very informative, personal tour of the caves. Overpriced? Yes...but not pretentious whatsoever. Reservations are a must. Our wine guide was soft spoken, super informative, and very helpful. We tried more than a handful of wines which were almost all single variety which I really appreciate. There is also a cheese pairing and items to cleanse your palate. Oh! And don't forget to take a photo with the waterfall inside the cave. This winery is located up a hill so I would recommend this be one of your first stops if it's on your list. No pressure to join the wine club or purchase at the end. Just a different experience all around if you are willing to spend that much on a tasting. I was fortunate to go with a wine club member. 5 stars all around.

Yelp
This is my favoriteeee winery to visit! The experience makes all the difference. When you come in through the gates, you drive a little to get to the parking lot (which even has an electric car charger)! Then you walk to these doors into the cave. The people who work at Jarvis are always so friendly and knowledgeable. You will start your tour of the wine making process. My favorite along the tour are: 1. The waterfall! It helps to keep the temperature stable and it adds nice background noise. It's also a great photo op. 2. The bathrooms! They are adorned in gold and have nice lights on the ceiling. 3. The bottling room. When we were there, they were working on the wax tops. It's interesting because it's all done by hand from little pots. 4. The ballroom! It's massive! They only use it for their ball every other year and don't do any event rentals :( 5. Tasting room- they give you a variety of wines and you get a cheese and cracker plate as a complement. The goat cheese is fantastic! If you're a cab drinker, this is your vineyard! Also, the best part is their experimental vineyard. They have 55 varietals and you can sample different grapes :)

Yelp
Amazing! Robert did our tour, and he was excellent. He made the time enjoyable and a great learning experience with his great personality. Wine is fantastic, and the winery unique. Again it has been our best experience so far!

Yelp
When I had to decide which winery to bring my parents & sibling to as an introduction to Napa / the world of wine-tasting experiences, Jarvis was hands down my first choice and my recent visit definitely validated that belief. Came here with a party of 6 and our host Susan was extremely gracious and took a lot of time to explain the basics (since 4 in our party had never visited a winery before) and answer all the questions the group had in great detail. Our tasting was comprised of - 2018 Finch Hollow Chardonnay - 2016 Tempranillo - 2014 Cabernet Franc - 2014 Merlot - 2014 Cabernet Sauvignon - 2014 Lake William Blend As many have mentioned, Jarvis does not release wines until they feel like they are ready and it definitely shows. All the wines were spectacular but the group particularly enjoyed the Tempranillo, Cab Franc, and Lake William Blend while we all agreed that the Chardonnay was some of the best we have ever tried. A small boutique winery that produces world-class quality wines - expensive but absolutely worth every penny. Highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to explore what the high-end of Napa wine / tastings experiences are like.

Yelp
Amazing tour, wine, beautiful scenery and story of how this winery began. I'm so glad I found this winery on Pinterest and booked the tour. Best winery I visited while in Napa. Would go back again when in Napa.

Yelp
Beautiful winery and great wine. You would not know that the main cave was all covered in soot from the Napa fire. Great job by the team in restoring everything. The tour is a great and recommended for anyone wanted to get off the beaten path of typical high traffic wineries. Reservations are a must and tour groups are 6-8 people in general so you get VIP treatment on the tour. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Great tour. Host was knowledgeable and fun. Big cave and the waterfall is a nice touch. The tasting room is awesome and makes it feeling school royal. Expensive but nice. Ended up with a temparnillo. Found the majority of them light and dry with no lingering notes but not bad.

Yelp
Amazing!!!! Super cool experience inside a super spacious cave with super good wine! You park outside and walk into a cave with a huge door. As much as the sun makes Napa beautiful, sitting in the heat drains my energy, so I'm glad that I now know a place in Napa where I can drink really good wine without sweating! The harvest event is amazing (great food, dranks, desserts, staff, etc), and I'm sad it's only every two years BUT I'LL BE BACK.

Yelp
Cave winery that's quite lovely! My boyfriend and I came here during our Valentine's getaway this year, and he was able to schedule a tour on the day of which was cool. I think we went the day after Vday. Upon arriving, there was a gated entrance in which you would have to intercom in. Then there's plenty of parking outside of the place. Our tour group was about 8 people in it, I believe, and our tour guide was very knowledgable and pretty friendly. I don't really remember his name, but he was Asian. The wine flights and snacks were delish! Loved it! I wouldn't be able to purchase their wines cause it's so expensive! I definitely had an awesome time with my Honey here, and I would definitely recommend this place to others. :)

Yelp
One of the most beautiful wineries we have been to. Our tour guy was very informative and attentive to our crew. You get a very intimate wine tasting room with no more than 9 people with five different wines to taste from. I would definitely recommend this winery especially if you are looking for a mellow, private taste tour.

Yelp
Came here for business back in October and loved it. Our guide was an ex police officer and was extremely knowledgeable and friendly! He told the story of the winery beautifully and poured like a pro. You can tell Jarvis cares about QUALITY over quantity. Even if you aren't a wine drinker... come on.. it's a winery IN A MOUNTAIN!!!

Yelp
What an interesting find. We stumbled upon this winery through Instagram and were delightfully surprised. It's not everyday you find a winery in a cave with a waterfall! Susan our tour guide was very knowledgeable and although I am no wine connoisseur she did a good job of keeping everyone engaged. Due to covid restrictions we were in a small group of 5 and have temperature checks/questionnaire to be filled out prior to starting the tour. I would highly recommend this winery on your next trip to Napa. We were also thrilled that this wine tasting came with charcuterie!

Yelp
I've been to Jarvis Winery, back in 2008 & really enjoyed the tour. We bought SEVERAL cases of their wine at the time and the wine IS GOOD . We have friends who are longtime members, we open a bottle of fine wine daily in our home. We have a 500 bottle wine fridge that can use some extra bottles. So... with an empty wine cellar, a week before visiting Napa for ONE day, I contact Jarvis to book a wine tour w/ myself & 3 friends. Within 24 hours I get an email from Sil (Director of Hospitality & Consumer Sales) offering me 2 available times on the day I request- SCORE right??? Without hesitation, within 45 minutes I confirm one of his offered times for the day i requested. I then re-arrange our lunch reservation to a dinner and COMPLETELY reschedule our day based on the fact that I confirmed the offered time at Jarvis the winery I arranged the ENTIRE day around. Then, the day after confirming the time offered, after giving all my credit card info to secure said time, I get an email saying; " I have some bad news since I emailed you (and I responded within 45 minutes to accept given time slot) the 3rd (my requested day 5 days in advance) is booked up. My apologies, requests are coming in at an unprecedented volume". I'm sorry Jarvis/"Sil" but it's wholly uncouth to offer a time(s)/reservation and then rescind after the reservation is given. Me accepting offered reservation within 45 mins WAS reasonable. You can't treat valuable customers like that. It's rude and wrong. The entire process of me requesting, getting a time accepting said time and then getting my reservation rescinded cost me 2 VALUABLE days of trying to get in elsewhere. So from now on, Jarvis wine, will forever taste rancid.

Yelp
Such a nice tour. Great service booking the reservation. Had Rob as our tour guide and he was funny and patient and fun to be around. The wine was tasty, caves were really cool, and the cheeses were a nice touch. A little piece of chocolate with the red wines would have been a nice touch too. I'd definitely visit again.

Yelp
Extraordinary, absolutely impressive architecture. Something you will only see once in the world at Jarvis. It's that unique.
