Best Shawarma, Falafel, and Other Middle Eastern Street Food in Seattle | Eater Seattle

"Kirkland’s popular halal-certified restaurant is known for its succulent rotisserie chicken. But those not ready to commit to a whole bird can also try it carved up in one of the tantalizing pita bread sandwiches served with a creamy, intensely garlicky sauce so compelling diners may find themselves licking the last drops of it off their fingers. The hummus, while not a street food per se, is exemplary here as well." - Alana Al-Hatlani

Google
The chicken shawarma salad was excellent. Huge portions and a great price with great service. I'll have to come back and try a few more items. 👍🏾

Google
Food is hit and miss half the time. When its good it's awesome but when the whole chicken is small its very small and not worth it but when you get a bigger chicken and well cooked it's a bargain for your money. Even with that said, they are a good small business who serve halal food and I support them all the way. They always have food ready or close to ready and accommodate you. I have been going there formany years and bery few times that I was disappointed!

Rob

Google
Guys working were extremely friendly and a pleasure to talk to. Gyros was spot on, one of the best I've had and the pistachio baklava was legit. Definitely will be back

Google
I have been getting the rotisserie chicken here for years. It is reliably delicious with a nice serving of rice, salad, and sauce. Good people run this restaurant and they are always quick and kind.

Google
The food is amazing. You will sometimes wait for the food (20 min or so), but it's worth it. Service is "curt", but I think it's purely cultural, nothing to do with being unwelcoming on purpose. Besides who cares if the food is good?

I recently visited Jasmine Kitchen for the first time and was disappointed with the service. Despite greeting the staff twice, I received no response. I had to take the initiative to call for assistance from behind the counter. Unfortunately, I felt unwelcome and sensed that the staff were only attentive to certain customers based on their skin color. The lack of hospitality and discriminatory behavior was disheartening, and I will not be returning due to the poor customer service.

I'm a local resident in the neighborhood, and during my visit to Jasmin Kitchen, I had the pleasure of talking to Nader. He suggested trying the chicken Shawarma, and I must say, it was absolutely delightful – bursting with flavor and exceptionally delicious. I highly recommend it!

Google
We ordered Chicken Shawarma, Chicken Kabab Plate and Eggplant wrap. Loved Chicken Shawarma, it was a good mix of spices and tasted delicious. The chicken Kabab Plate was awesome, the kababs were grilled perfectly with right spices and tender. The sides were Hummus, bed of Saffron rice and a side salad. The eggplant wrap was a dud, it did not taste well. It did not have a good aftertaste.

Yelp
Having been to the Middle East and Mediterranean a few times, I'm obsessed with authentic foods from that region. Just the best. I stopped in Jasmine Kitchen fresh off an airplane and WOW. First it was around 3pm, which is dead time for most restaurants. The two men could not have been nicer and my food was fresh and amazing in a clean and cool environment. Even the bathrooms were clean and nice (which is a huge element to the overall experience). Service was great too, even with two men. I order a kofta kebab plate which came with saffron rice and great pita and a small salad and a garlic sauce that would be amazing on a leather boot. I also had the walnut baklava which was about the best I've ever had. The flavors were all spot on - juicy and tender and wonderful - every bite of the whole meal. In fact I was tempted to get the whole thing again. But decided to wait until the VERY next time I'm in town.

Yelp
3.5 stars I ordered delivery from here through DoorDash! I tried the Mixed Kabob Plate (priced I think at $17.99, though DoorDash inflated to $20.99). It came with two small chicken pieces, beef kefta kabob, rice and hummus. The portions were modest, but everything was incredibly flavorful. The warm, fluffy pita paired perfectly with the creamy garlic sauce. My only critique is that the chicken was on the salty side.

Yelp
I don't know WHY this place is rated so highly. We trusted the yelp reviews and gave this place a try but it was not a typical 4.5 star experience. Their gyro meat is the fattiest and greasiest. I am not sure if they are using lower quality meat or adding lots of animal fat. All the ingredients didn't blend together to create a holistic flavor. Soggy fries and very very dry whole roasted chicken. Will not be coming back.
google avatar

Mo Y.

Yelp
I used to love this place and they used to have the best Gyro sandwiches in the area. Their gyro was so good but this all changed after Covid where the gyro sandwiches started to taste so bad. I am not sure if they started using cheaper quality meat or cheaper sauce. Extremely disappointing. This used time be my only go to Gyro place.
google avatar

Marilyn S.

Yelp
Love this Mediterranean restaurant! It's a hole in a wall, but definitely worth eating at! I had a delicious beef/lamb gyro salad. Everything tasted so fresh and soooo good! The rest of the family enjoyed their gyro wraps and gyro plates. Prices were reasonable. We got there right when they opened, and it was pretty cold inside. Hopefully it warmed up! Not sure if they were use to having people eat inside as the chairs were still on the table in the back room? Maybe better to take it to go until the weather warms up? Either way, I can't wait to go again!
google avatar

Cassandra D.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Friendly staff. Needed dinner after a baseball game. Hmmm. The inside was so... vacant. Cold. Bleak. The whole back room where there appeared to be a long table, chairs were stacked on top, leaving just a few small tables in the front. No music playing which I think odd when it's just a set of customers and the kitchen staff. Ordered a gyro plate, a gyro salad and a kids gyro plate. Hubs said the hummus was way too salty. I thought the gyro meat was too salty. The chunks of meat were too large for cuts of gyro meat... I prefer the sliced. Salad was okay. I don't know, I've had better gyro meat before. This was just mediocre.
google avatar

Yelp
Unbelievable! I I've stumbled into this place just looking for a quick lunch. And I've managed to stumble onto the best kafta kebob I've ever had! Ever! It's so juicy, and flavorful, and just damn delicious. The tahini and garlic dips were outstanding as well. Tasted home made. The man behind the counter obviously takes pride in his work and his food. Overall, 5 stars for the food and hospitality. P.S. it was so good I went back for dinner to try something else.
google avatar

Ramon E.

Yelp
I came in for a meal before my workout. Nelly was great, energetic and offered me some choices for my meal. I chose the Chicken Shawarma and it was delicious. She even sent me home with garden sauce. I recommend this place to everyone.
google avatar

Kevin R.

Yelp
The quality/quantity of the food is worth the price. Definitely cheaper than other Mediterranean places. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Alexander L.

Yelp
It was pretty good food, prices could be adjusted a little cheaper but I get it, everybody's trying to make ends meet in this economy.
google avatar

Astro C.

Yelp
Unassuming clean eatery. Reasonable prices for food and decent selection as well despite overall trend of restaurants increasing prices. Guy working was polite and fast!
google avatar

Kathleen T.

Yelp
So unassuming but so good! Got the chicken gyro and Greek fries. Gyro meat was tender, well-seasoned and flavorful. Abundance of tzatziki, fresh cucumbers, tomatoes, and onions. Pita was warmed and so fluffy, and the fries were a garlicky goodness with feta and tzatziki. Would definitely stop by again if in the area!

Cynthia G.

Yelp
Amazing food the chicken plate was great and it was such a huge portion it was absolutely to die for
google avatar

Jeremy C.

Yelp
I love a Mediterranean restaurant that offers both great chicken and lamb options. This place goes one step farther and has awesome rotisserie chicken options which are great. The prices are reasonable and there is plenty of parking in front since this is located in a mini-mall of sorts. The interior is fairly basic. It's more of a cafeteria type interior so I prefer to take my food to go instead of eating it here. They also offer a kids menu which is convenient.
google avatar

Amahalea T.

Yelp
A late Wednesday night gyro & Greek fries craving lead me to Jasmine Kitchen! Thankfully they close at 9pm because I was driving around at 8:30pm for an open spot to fulfill the craving and most close at 8pm. But wow, I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant! The customer service was great, quick, and the food was delicious. Will be coming back with my family10/10 recommend.
google avatar

Emily W.

Yelp
This place is an absolute gem. Forget meal prep kits, buy a whole chicken from here and you can eat a few meals off of it. Lovely owner. Do pickup and help him make more $ than DD.
google avatar

Anand N.

Yelp
I wanted to check out Jasmine Kitchen after craving some mediterranean food. The food was ready promptly and looked delicious, you can sense that by the photos. We took Chicken Shawarma plate and Chicken Kebab plate. The pita bread was awesome and the hummus was also nice, so it was a good start. However, the chicken didn't measure up to that. Both the Shawarma and Kebab chicken pieces were bland, they had a hint of spiciness but not enough to give a flavor. If there had been a little more flavor and spiciness, it would have been ideal. Now I'm used to eating spicier foods, but even compared to other mediterranean restaurants, this was a bit bland. 3.5 stars for me.
google avatar

Tyler L.

Yelp
3.5 stars. A bit pricey for the quality, and the vibe was quite desolate. Glad I went to try it but I normally like quite a bit more flavor and spice in Mediterranean food. The hummus was really good, but the ratio of rice to meal was quite high, I'd do a salad next time. The service was nice, speedy, and impassive.
google avatar

Jenny C.

Yelp
Mediterranean food is known for being on the more expensive side but this place is reasonably priced for what you get. The ambience is very casual and it is more geared towards takeout but indoor dining is open if you want to eat there. Online ordering has been an easy process and the order was ready at the stated pickup time. We have tried the beef/lamb gyro plate, chicken shawarma plate and the beef/lamb gyro. I love the hummus here. It is so smooth. I mop up every bit with the super soft warm pita. If you're not too hungry, I would recommend a gyro as I think the plates do lean heavy on the carbs with the rice + pita. Get an extra garlic sauce! You'll thank me later.
google avatar

Laiha C.

Yelp
I found this spot to be pretty solid. We ordered to go and everything was packed great. The seasoning tastes different that many other Mediterranean places we've had. The same goes for the sauce on the Greek fries. Not bad, just.... different. My husband did not love his meal at all. He thought the seasoning tasted too different for his liking and his meat was chewy. I don't eat meat and found the falafel to be quite good. Not dry as can so often be the case. I'd order this for lunch perhaps but I don't think we'll be back for dinner or to go. Couples don't always agree, ok?
google avatar

Renny K.

Yelp
I wish I came here way earlier than I did. There is no comparison of this place with garlic crush. You can definitely tell the difference in quality and they are very generous with their portions. Their greek fries - out of this world. I loved the aromatic garlic flavor and the extra garlic sauce is absolutely worth it. I highly recommend the beef kabobs; the chicken was a bit dry for my taste. Regardless, if you're looking for delicious mediterranean food - this is a must go! They will be seeing me quite a bit from now on :)

NANCY T.

Yelp
Really low quality food for the price you pay. It was greasy and kinda slapped together. They also forgot to give me hummus in my plate.
google avatar

Naomi Z.

Yelp
My favorite Mediterranean food! I love the chicken wrap, garlic fries and honestly everything tastes great! Don't let the area fool you, it's honest guys working there with great food.
google avatar

Rou E.

Yelp
Great service and place is clean. Chicken shawarma plate and truffle fries are outstanding. Portions are excellent. Overall great experience and awesome food.
google avatar

Leo H.

Yelp
One of our favorite restaurants for weekend takeout. The rotisserie chicken is a must have. Very tender and flavorful. The price is also very reasonable.
google avatar

Danny D.

Yelp
Filthy and expensive. Not a lot of flavor. Weird lighting. Dirty. And most indoors flu the food doesn't taste that good. I've had a LOT of middle eastern food. This isn't good.
google avatar

Poonam S.

Yelp
This Mediterranean place had great reviews and so I decided to give it a shot. We ordered Chicken Shawarma and the chicken kabob plate. The portion size was great on both and both came with pita bread which was nice and fresh. The chicken kabob were just OK , almost on the bland side. Chicken Shawarma was good but not too flavorful that I would go back for it. The Yelp check in gives you $3 off $20. Parking was good enough on a weekend before closing. Price point could have been better but the portion was filling.
google avatar

Falak S.

Yelp
Their chicken shawarma gyro is very flavourful and delicious. They are pretty generous with the sauces which makes their gyros special and the price point is very reasonable. Great find for take out!

Chris K.

Yelp
The service was excellent and the food was absolutely delicious. I had the lamb shawarma salad, which was just right for a keto diet. There was a steady flow of folks coming in for takeout, but plenty of seating in the clean and cool-temperature dining area.
google avatar

Ratish K.

Yelp
I had the lamb shawarma wrap which is a bit bigger then the sandwich and it was prepared in about ten minutes. The restaurant is big and clean and the staff is friendly. Check in on Yelp for 3$ out of 20$.

Mona P.

Yelp
Jasmine Kitchen is a gem in this small strip mall. They open early and serve delicious Mediterranean food. I ordered the half chicken and rice meal, which was generously portioned--I had to take the rest home! The service was very friendly, and the food was incredibly tasty. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Craig F.

Yelp
This is a small place in a strip mall near Totem Lake in Kirkland. We have got food to go many times and every time the food has been excellent. The.menu is along the lines of Mediterranean and let me tell you they deliver. I love the whole chickens and swarma plate but the Greek salad is always a favorite. The flavors are plentiful, portions are large and prices are reasonable. Those are probably the main three reasons we are always here getting food. With a place that is easy to drive by and never see this place everyone should take a look and try this little place.
google avatar

Kiara D.

Yelp
Tried this place last minute while up in Kirkland and was not disappointed! The falafel plate was delicious! I swapped the tahini sauce for the garlic sauce and it was amazing. I look forward to coming back!

Sam K.

Yelp
4 stars for the food-- a Greek salad and a chicken shwarma. 0 stars for charging .75 cents for a tiny plastic cup of hot sauce. Hot sauce is free EVERYWHERE--especially when spending $60 for the entire order. 0 stars also for bad attitudes when I went to pick up the order. Is it because of no tip? Ask your employer to pay you a living wage. Don't expect me to tip when all you did was put my food into a bag for me to pick up.
google avatar

Huong L.

Yelp
We came back from a hike and wanted lunch and saw this place on Yelp. We placed the order ahead of time and had to wait for a few minutes once we got there. We got: the whole chicken which came with 2 pita bread and garlic sauce - At first glance, the chicken looks dry, but man was I wrong. It was so juicy and tender and cooked perfectly! The pita bread was warm and toasty. I didn't like the garlic sauce much but that's my preference. The beef kifta salad: 2 skewers of flavorful beef and refreshing salad. I like the sauce that it came with. It seem like they put some kind of dressing on the salad because it has some flavor. Portion was super generous for the price. If we didn't hike before hand and got super hungry, the one chicken meal would have fed us easily. Definitely will be a place I will come back often
google avatar

Yelp
My youngest daughter wanted Mediterranean for #yelpseattleeastside and #YelpsBigNightIn so she ordered food from Jasmine Kitchen via Door Dash. She had the Falafel Sandwich with humus and pita bread. The food came quickly and she loved it. This is a great place to try for eat at home food during the pandemic. Thanks for staying open during these difficult times.

Yelp
At least 4 Mediterranean restaurants/eateries are within 8-minutes drive of each other within the Kirkland Totem Lake area. Jasmine Kitchen is the last that I am trying. Sadly, it was less than ideal. Ding #1 - minus 0.5 stars Because restaurants all tend to be busy at the common dinner hour, I have been calling ahead and placing an order for pickup at a much later time. Jasmine Kitchen is the first restaurant to have forgotten to make my order. I stood there while they made it. It was annoying, but at least it was not a long wait. Ding #2 - minus 0.5 stars The Lamb Shawarma Plate was $16.50 on the receipt instead of $14.50 on their website. Inaccurate online prices is a pet peeve of mine. Also, the receipt had a $0.65 charge for a "vinaigrette sauce" that I didn't order, and it didn't go with either of the food items. Argh. On the plus side, he (reluctantly) honored the Yelp check-in discount of $3 off $20+ purchase. I am quite certain it was only because they forgot my order. So this ended up being a near net zero. The food: Lamb Shawarma Plate - 2.5 stars The contents of their lamb shawarma plate is fairly standard. See photo. The portion is not nearly as generous as Mediterranean Kitchen. Hubby said the lamb wasn't tender, and it was chewy. Disappointed. Especially since I watched them make it, I know it wasn't left on the grill, which means the lamb quality itself is meh. Falafel Supreme Sandwich - 4 stars The sandwich itself I thought was quite good. The falafels were tasty, though I still prefer to slather on the tahini sauce. A couple of strange things. 1) Their online menu said it contains feta cheese. When ordering I asked for no cheese and he said it doesn't come with cheese. Again, incorrect online info. 2) Their online menu said "keep it tame or let loose with our fiery red pepper 'shatta' sauce" with no added cost mentioned, and I requested it spicy. The sandwich did not have any hot sauce. Instead I got the aforementioned vinaigrette sauce (not spicy) that I was charged. Confounding as heck. Like I said, I had called ahead to place my order. I have been doing this for every restaurant to save them fees from the app companies. Unfortunately, I honestly could not understand the person on the phone, and I repeated my order multiple times even though it was only two items. That was frustrating. This is the first time I am recommending the reader to just order online. Pickup at the restaurant: On the plus side, they were wearing masks and gloves. And he did take off and tossed his gloves before using the cash register. On the bad side, the signing keypad was filthy, feeling crusty while I signed. Gross. They had hand sanitizer so that helped.
google avatar

Kent L.

Yelp
14 dollars out the door for chicken shawarma plate that comes with chicken, rice, hummus, salad, pita bread, and their house garlic white sauce. The food is pretty standard in terms of quality, and generous in terms of quantity. I love the garlic sauce; that's probably the one thing that makes this place stand out. The hummus was nice and creamy and went really well with the pita bread, which was thick and fluffy with a light chew to it. However I found the 14 dollar price tag a bit high and the chicken to be too dry. In sum, I would not go out of my way to eat here, but if I were hungry and in the area, I would recommend checking them out! If they could make the chicken moist and a bit heavier on the flavor, I would love to come back and try it again!
google avatar

Krista Rene N.

Yelp
This place has really good rotisserie chicken, chicken shawarma and falafel sandwich. The garlic sauce is yummy too! They always serve fresh, soft pita too. I do wish the plates were a little cheaper but they do let me a few meals so it works out fine. With extra garlic sauce they come out to like $16 bucks. If I don't feel like paying the money, I get one of the sandwiches which are more affordable. Overall a great find if you enjoy Middle Eastern food.

Scott A.

Yelp
Chicken schawarma tasted just like a tuna melt. $13.00 for a small pita, good amount of chicken, lettuce, slices of not ripe tomatoes, onions and sauce. It was just a muddled taste, couldn't pick out any specific tastes, just tasted like a tuna melt.
google avatar

Jessica S.

Yelp
Ordered take out from here for me and my husband and man oh man were we blown away! I love great quality Mediterranean food and Jasmine Kitchen knocks it out of the park, for me. We had the chicken shawarma platter and a chicken shawarma wrap, with an extra side of yellow rice and a side of Tabbouleh salad. This place is so generous with portions that our evening dinner made great leftovers for afternoon lunch-score!! I certainly plan on returning since they are so close to where I live. They have the option to order online thru their website and you can also call in for pickup/takeout.
google avatar

Jay H.

Yelp
4 out of 5 due to app order missing drop-down to select what type of bottled soda you want so they threw in a random flavor and didn't include cutlery. Ordered the chicken schwarma plate. Very flavorful and salad was fresh. Would def eat again.
google avatar

Haitham K.

Yelp
Amazing food, highly recommend! The chicken with garlic sauce is astonishing, they have many Mediterranean dishes with very high quality and taste.

Anjelica B.

Yelp
My 8 year old's first time trying a Chicken Shawarma wrap. My son would rate it a 10/10. Mins you he's very picky about spices and flavor. He actually said that the wrap has a lot of flavor. We highly recommend to try this place. We will be back!
google avatar

Nami N.

Yelp
My friend and I came to eat some Mediterranean food here at night. I checked Yelp and saw a good reviews. We ordered Falafel salad and Beef & Lamb Gyro Salad & Classic Baklava. Beef & Lamb Gyro Salad (Beef & lamb Gyro slices, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, cucumbers) Meats were dry and taste not good olives. Falafel Salad (Falafel, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, pitted Greek olives, onion, feta cheese, olive oil, & Mediterranean vinaigrette.) Falafel was so ~~ dry and couldn't cut even. I'm not happy about both salad. Only I liked Classic Baklava.
google avatar

Anne M.

Yelp
Recently had food from here delivered via one of the online platforms. I'm so glad to finally try this place as it was on my list for ages! In usual fashion, I ordered a few different menu options so I could try a variety of different flavors. Chicken shawarma plate - I was not expecting so much food! It was all very flavorful and fresh! The hummus was tasty, especially when dipped with the pita bread! The rice needs some more flavor, maybe some zest of a lemon or something to make it more fragrant! That's my perspective though! Falafel piece - I ordered one to try it, and it was a great size, but maybe a bit chewy. Would order again though as maybe was a one off! Greek fries - these were fantastic. Do not change the flavor!! Love the balance of everything! Overall, the take out packaging holds well, and I would say this is great value for sure. I hope they can keep the flavor profiles strong!

Yelp
I've been on a consistent kick of Mediterranean/ Lebanese food lately. I came here 2 evenings ago with my family. I ordered the chicken shawarma. The food for the price compared to other places was just a plateful -- so not big in portions as most places I've been to. Everything was good but I've had better. The staff is nice! My mom really loves their lentil soup lol.

Yelp
Stopped here on a whim (and yelp reviews) while driving south on 405. Service was friendly. Food was delicious and freshly made. Garlic sauce is absolutely fire. I had the combo kebab plate and while the chicken was a win and flavorful, the beef/lamb takes the lead. Generous portions. Will definitely return.
