Java Lava Cafe

Every one is very friendly. The owners wife told us about how her husband is an architect and all the neat details he put into this awesome place. The water has a hint of mint in it and is super delicious and refreshing. They warmed up the pastry for us and the egg omelette was expertly made. This will be our new hang out spot. Dog friendly as well.

The drip coffee and it was good. We aren’t vegans, but we tried the lump crab (mushroom not crab) gumbo. The flavor was excellent. I’m not a fan of the vegan sausage in it, but otherwise it was very good. The service was great and the server was very friendly. It was a beautiful day to enjoy their outdoor seating. This little place is just what the neighborhood needs! It's such a great location: near Hermann Park, easy train access, near museums, and there's off-street parking. Oh, and there's another thing: the outdoor area is dog-friendly! Woo Hoo! I can't speak with authority on the food items but the coffee drinks that we ordered were perfect. It was a hot afternoon when we were here so I would have liked additional icy or slushy options to meet the Houston heat. But I'm not complaining. I think those options will eventually arrive. The staff couldn't be nicer. The decor and ambience were clean and inviting. I will definitely be back. I loved this place.

Vibe- This is a nice cafe that sits inside of the Asia Society Texas Center. They have about 8 tables inside and a few tables outside too. This is probably not an ideal spot to come to if you’re wanting to study because the cafe is connected to the center and the noise level is loud. However; siting outside could be an option if you need a softer noise level. Customer service- Great! Food/drinks- I got a hot matcha latte with oat milk and vanilla; it was good! I also tried the matcha waffle, I honestly couldn’t got something else; it was alright. Parking- I ended up parking on the street and paid $2/hr.

Discreetly tucked into the Asia Society Center this little Cafe is a hidden gem. I ordered the avocado toast with a fried egg. The avocado was actually seasoned but not overly as was the egg. Toast was crunchy and held up well.. Totally delicious. Iced matcha latte was on point also.

Located inside of the Asian Society Texas Center building. Really nice staff, gave great suggestions and made stellar coffee. I had the Artichoke Panini with the Hanoi Egg Coffee made from Kona coffee (if you know, you know) both of which were delicious. Would recommend!!

It's an interesting place and I am not quite sure whether it's a gastropub or what kinda vibe. But the beer selection is decent and the coffee is lovely. The food is a hit and a miss. We got the lava fries, buffalo bites and the Tina cheese puffs to start. The lava fries were the best and I would not get the buffalo bites. We got the Honey and Ginger Chicken, Ribs, Ahi Poke, Big Kahuna Burger and the Kona Beef skewers. The Ribs were not seasoned well enough and had very little sauce. The other entrees were good and flavorful. I would go back to try some of the other items and enjoy their patio deck.

Great food & service. The musubi salmon was great. The Hanoi egg coffee was good too. You should visit this cafe esp. if you are in the vicinity.

We planned a weekend in the Museum District and came across Java Lava on Yelp! and decided to give them a try. Its location was a little confusing, but after realizing you had to actually go inside the Asia Society Texas Center to find it, we were set. It's in a cozy little corner of the center, but not too cramped with a very clean layout. It's counter service, but they will bring the food to your table. We ordered the Spam Musubi, Loco Moco Plate (made with Beyond meat!), an Americano, and an Ube Latte. Everything was absolutely delicious. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!

Tried this cafe on a whim and was presently surprised! The design is clean and modern and service is fast. I got the latte, and it wasn't too sweet. I tried the salmon musubi and it was delicious!! The salmon was flaky and buttery, the sauce had a nice deep soy flavor that was a bit sweet, and the furikake added a nice crunch. I'd love to come back to try their other dishes

It's part of the museum, and has a calm, clean aesthetic. I've gone multiple times and it's usually never crowded. My go-to coffee is the Cafe Sua Da, which is both sweet and strong. Whenever I feel like I need a snack, the piping hot spam musubi has the perfect spam-to-rice ratio and a sweet and savory sauce with furikake! All in all, love this spot! It's low-key but always delivers!

This is the place to come for a relaxing Kona coffee in the museum district! Plenty of tables inside and out. Park in the Asia Society lot and receive validation with any café purchase. Brunch is served until closing at 3:00pm. Yummy waffles, eggs, beyond beef sausage, paninis and breakfast croissants. YUM!!

Love this place a lot You should define this place as a hidden gem The food looks normal and plain but it tastes really good I love the coffee here as well it is from Kona Hawaii The service is wonderful The place is a museum cafe But it tastes really good Egg coffee and Tuna Sandwich both good

Traditional flavors in a variety of drinks with snacks to match! Fresh baked pastries, savory bites and even shrimp chips are available. My ube latte was perfect!

My First Visit: I received a very warm welcome. Server (I am so bad with names but she was very nice, helpful in explaining my choice interests). Food was Delicious! Not being accustomed to Spicy, it did take a little while to adapt. As the food temperature cooled, I became better able to eat the food and enjoy the flavors -- Oh So Delicious! I had a hot Matcha Latte with coconut milk and agave!!! What A Compliment to the dish!!! I had French Fried Mushrooms on top of Grits!!! FOR ME: Total Price is a little high: Worth Every Penny!!! And the Service is Customer Oriented with Price in their Restaurant. I will return as a patron as a special treat to myself!!!!

Food, serviced an ambiance were great. Good for a date-coffee meet up in museum district.

I visit Asia Society often, but had never dined at Java Lava until recently. My sister was visiting from out of town and we decided to stop in for breakfast on a Saturday. She enjoyed her iced Vietnamese coffee and avocado toast. I enjoyed the plain waffle. It had a different texture from the waffles we are used to , we think there was rice flour, but I really liked it. There is indoor and outdoor seating and the lots of street parking on the neighborhood.

This place is great. They have delicious coffee and I love sitting outside in the shade with my dog on a nice day. Their food is pretty good too. I often get the breakfast panini. I recently tried the salmon musabi and I really liked it. When I have a sweet tooth I get the butter mochi. Staff is friendly!

Tucked into the corner of the Texas Asia Society Center, Java Lava offers a nice respite close to the Medical Center madness. Compact menu with plenty of tasty options. Coffee brought in from Hawai'i's Big Island tops it off. Easy parking in their private lot across the street validated with purchase.

Beautiful, serene setting to enjoy coffee, breakfast, or lunch. Janey makes delicious and gorgeous cappuccinos! Very vegetarian-friendly. They are always updating their menu with new, fun and seasonal items.

Lots of goodies to also take home like the coffee from the owner's farm in Hawaii- the Macadamia cookies yum! The egg coffee - the best!!

Visiting Houston and had coffee here before going to a museum. Great coffee. Such a lovely spot for a relaxing morning brew.
