New Restaurants and Bars That Have Opened in San Diego | Eater San Diego

"Part of a successful South Korean chain inside the H Mart Balboa food hall, this stall focuses on street food set menus featuring tteokbokki (spicy rice cake soup) paired with soondae and deep-fried seafood and vegetables, plus a wide variety of gimbap with fillings like tuna mayo, bulgogi, and fried shrimp." - Candice Woo

The bulgogi rice bowl at $12 tastes good and looks appetizing. The rice in the bowl was also very good. It’s a better deal in this food court.

Hands down the best gimbap I’ve ever had. Came super close to the ones in Japan. Store is in H mart which was my first time ever and it was amazing. Super quick service. Rolls made with love for sure

The food over here was pretty good, but there were limited selections, and the rose topokki I ordered was a little too hot. (but I loved the taste). The kimbap was also good too and I love how the food court has a lot of tables!

This is my first time eating this type of Korean food. We tried the friend set 1. The tteokbokki I really liked. It was flavorful and the noodles were soft. It came in a big bowl so you might be able to share it with 3 people. It came with fried tempura and noodle type dumpling. That was ok, not much taste on it. The Korean sausage was a little bland for me. They package it very nicely and service was quick. So for me, I would would come back for the tteokbokki but not the other two. Next time I will try the sushi they have.

I don't typically care enough to leave negative reviews on restaurants, but this one was rough. The whole staff seems to be undertrained. Long story short, I ordered just a chicken teriyaki rice bowl. 40 minutes later, I finally received a soggy little handful of chicken pellets and watered down rice.

Bulgogi bowl has very little meat, all rice. Tastes very oily, $15 after tip, would not order again

Tteokbbokki is the best. San Diego doesn't have a specialist spot (good enough) to outduel this international juggernaut. The pricing is reasonable and the older folks say it invokes flavors of their childhood... Hard to argue with. Only gripe is that sometimes they don't quite execute the side dishes like the gimbap or bloodsausage as consistent as they could. Despite that, it's still our go-to, any day!

Enjoyed a wonderful meal at JAWS!! The topokki was deliciously spicy and had a great mix of flavors. The atmosphere was casual and inviting, and the staff was very attentive. A great spot for a satisfying topokki experience!
