Yelp
I had higher hopes for this place as it was listed on diners, drive-ins and dives show on Food Network. it is quite a cute looking caboose style zephyr building.
The first thing I have to say, the parking lot for this restaurant is a self-pay parking lot required 10 AM to 6 PM. There is some parking down the street, but it is also pay to park. as I tried to enter the parking lot, there was a huge food delivery truck blocking the entrance. I had to go down to the exit only, and then come up around the back and do a U-turn. I'm sure there's no real choice for the vendor to park there.
As you can see from the pictures, walking in, the door had no handle and was propped Open by a dish towel. The door on the other side had a electrical cord going through the handle and running up along the wall to power the light. Some overgrown weeds, dead, with some garbage around the entrance. really quite strange.
There is a sign that says 'please see the host to be seated' when you enter. I stood there for about eight minutes. There was a guy behind me, he finally walked around me and grabbed a table. I went into the back area and let the host/waiter know that I was there. He looked more irritated than happy to see me. He came out sat me at a table and I had to call out if I could get some coffee. The restaurant only had one other table. No idea why I was not greeted professionally. The menus were sitting on the table, and as you can see from the pictures, there was food on them.
What I ordered:
Bacon mushroom Swiss omelette with avocado
Coffee
After looking at the menu, I decided to go with Bacon mushroom and Swiss omelette with avocado added for an up charge. The coffee was standard coffee shop coffee nothing special. There was no sugar on the table so I had to flag down the server and ask him. He came and dropped a few off on the table. I had to let him know that that would not be enough. Finally I just went to another table and got my own sugar.
The omelette arrived and they were so no cheese in it. that was just strange lol. An omelette without cheese... Another group of people came in, so when the lady was walking by me, I called out that there was no cheese in my omelette. The waiter apologized and took the omelette away. He returned fairly quickly and to my surprise four or five giant slices of Swiss cheese were thrown in the omelette and barely heated. at this point I actually laughed out loud. Went from no cheese, to smothered in cheese. So much cheese, I couldn't see or taste anything else.
As I said in the beginning, I had such high hopes for this place. Run down, dirty, poor service, order prepared incorrectly and then the fix for the mistake was even worse. I now knew why the place was near empty after trying some of the other breakfast houses that were packed at this time. No attention to quality or cleanliness. Sadness :(
I won't be back.
