Google
Awesome breakfast spot in Truckee in an authentic diner car. This was a great place for a group with their large menu and reasonable prices for large portions. We loved the Crab Cakes Eggs Benedict that came with avocado and hash browns, the BLAT, All Day Addiction (plate with mushrooms & goat cheese, as well as the sandwich), the Jax Torta and Burger.

Google
We had a great meal! Everything was hot and fresh. It wasn't a terribly long wait, about 20 minutes. The waiter brought us out complimentary fries for the wait but then we received our food shortly after anyways. Would go back to try their other items!

Oh Wow!! What a rare gem in this cozy diner. Ran into this place during a Tahoe Christmas trip. Such a great atmosphere! The food was great. The pulled pork burger hit the spot in the wintery weather. Everyone was full of smiles and very greeting. Right out of a TV show. Ordered a fountain style milk shake just for the fun of it. Even the other diners were smiling and very hospitable. I would gather this is a go to for the locals. This will be a certain repeat stop every time I'm in the Truckee Tahoe area! Thank you Jax at the Tracks for a great additional memory to a great Christmas vacation. Will definitely be back!

Google
One of the shiniest stars for breakfast in Truckee. I cannot tell you how happy my belly feels after the Jax hash and a hot cup of coffee for breakfast. Big cubes of marinated corned beed brisket with potatoes and onions. The flavor....omg. I'm shaking right now. And they are famous for their homemade biscuits and blueberry jam, that's the absolute money shot. Service was great and not pricey for Truckee. So get your sweet ass in here and get your day started right. You can thank me later.

My wife and I had been here many years ago, decided to come back. This is definitely a nostalgia trip. The money and the place itself definitely screams DINER!!! I had a chicken fried steak. Hadn't had one in years. This one was really good! I somehow managed to eat the whole thing. Highly recommend if you are on Truckee.

Google
Cute little diner. Decent service. How this place was on DDD is beyond me. I had the turkey Jax melt with garlic truffle fries. The cheese was cold and not melted. The fries were good but missing garlic. My husband had the Thanksgiving sandwich with onion rings. The onion rings were good. The turkey was dry. The stuffing was glue like. And, he currently has food poisoning from it. Avoid this place.

Google
Great option for a good meal. Very reasonable prices considering Truckee is a gateway to North Tahoe Resorts. The fish sandwich and onion rings were amazing! Definitely recommend if in the Truckee area.

We almost always stop here when we pass through the area and it's always a great experience. The French Dip and Bison Chili were both excellent. The Garlic Truffle Oil fries were also very tasty. Not too crowded this visit. Friendly service, clean and cute atmosphere. Still highly recommended.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a weekday night. Plenty of seating. Clean restaurant. We ordered the comfort bowl, crab sliders, bison chili, Cajun shrimp pasta, and house bread and garlic bread. Food was ok, not great. The chili was probably our favorite. Service was good.

Meg P.

Yelp
Food was not good. The corn beef hash was sweet, the pulled pork bun was stale, the breakfast burrito was small, chicken strips were bland and the kids silver dollar pancakes were cold. The waitress was very soft spoken, didn't check on us. My husband was astonished that two of the servers were kissing and all over each other. That was a bit much and very inappropriate. Cold inside and the booths are super small. Their high chairs are missing the buckle part on a lot of them and the ones that had it were filthy We won't be back.

Yelp
Food was good and bad at the same time, service was generally pretty quick, and an ok ambiance. My group was sat quickly and the busser was quick to get drink orders in. They came out very fast. Two waters had bits floating in them...so that's a minus. Before we even got a chance to sip our Bloody Marys, the food was out. Literally like 5 minutes for 6 entrees. Alarmingly fast. Food was lukewarm...like it had already been prepared and they just food lining it. I got the country fried steak, wife got the BLT . Worst country fried steak I've ever had. The meat was absolutely god awful. The worst grade, unsalted, looked gray like it was boiled, & chewy. Just terrible. To give you an idea it took like 10 saws to try to cut through it which just shreds it to hell and makes Sunny side up eggs were perfect, hashbrowns were decent, and the homemade jam was a nice touch. Not too sweet like the commercial jam packets. The BLT had no mayo. Literally just bacon, tomato, and lettuce with burnt toast. wtf. So just a dry ass sandwich. Fries were OK. Overall the food was just meh. Check is confusing if you have a larger party. The tip was added, which is fine, but I like how if you didn't notice, another line is there for additional tip in which the suggested amounts don't even add up to the amount automatically added. Service was very quick and attentive which brings it up. Maybe we went on a bad day, but with as many breakfast spots as there are in the area, this place a pass for me.

Regina R.

Yelp
Great cute little spot. Picked up a bite to eat and enjoyed the feel of the place! Food was good definitely recommend the garlic fries! Would come here again!

Dana S.

Yelp
Great little spot ~ easy parking. Friendly staff and a wonderful and varied menu. Very cute ambiance inside.

Yelp
I've always enjoyed stopping at this diner, once the Truckee Diner. Yesterday I was so disappointed. Slow service, unfriendly waiter. Biscuit was like hard tack, hash browns uneditable, eggs overcooked. Sorry Jax a return visit pretty much off the books. I will admit the restaurant seemed understaffed. Hope the restaurant can hire decent help all around and bring back the service I've experienced in the past!

Colleen M.

Yelp
Great experience at Jax At The Tracks! We shared the Chicken & Waffles, and they were nice enough to split the portion onto 2 plates for us. The Irish Coffee was incredible ! The service was fantastic-- great vibes after a day on the slopes.

Rachel W.

Yelp
Classic diner feel and decor - the great thing about this place is that the service was fast and friendly. I got the kobe beef meatloaf and while I heard great things about it, it was only ok. I felt that it was on the drier side and wasn't particularly flavorful. Just tasted like regular meatloaf. I shared this with another person in my party and I did appreciate how the kitchen pre-split the entree. It was really thoughtful and half the meatloaf was plenty for me. One cool thing about Jax is the opportunity to get a free milkshake! If you post a photo of your food, tag and follow Jax, they'll give you a free shake (instructions at the table). We took our shakes to-go and it was pretty sweet to get one for free. They have a lot of shake options!

Natalie W.

Yelp
Loved the two step combo it came with bacon, eggs, pancakes and hashbrowns. My family ordered the eggs bendict and really enjoyed that as well. New go to spot in Truckee.

Merrick C.

Yelp
This is one of the worst service experiences I have ever had at a restaurant. I was traveling solo along the I-80 and stopped for a bite to eat. The diner was less than half full, so they sat me at a booth. After a 5-7 minute wait, I ordered. I asked the waiter where the restroom was and went to go use it while waiting for my food. I left my hat at the table as a visual cue to other waiters that I would return. When I got back a few minutes later, my hat was gone and another party was seated at the booth. I had to get 3 different waiters to help me get my hat back from the lost and found, get a new seat, and confirm that my order was still on the way. When I did get my food, it was a terrible. The patty melt lacked any flavor and my "well done" order was completely pink. The beans were cold and tasted like pure sugar. Other than 1 or 2 hardworking individuals, most of the young staff just wanted to stand around gossiping with each other. I left quite disappointed.

Rod N.

Yelp
Terrible service. They were really busy but no one looks up to even acknowledge you. After waiting awkwardly for a host, they sear us and it took over 15 minutes for someone to acknowledge us again. Two servers passed us with no greeting and finally my wife stopped someone so we finally got a waiter to take our order. I ordered an appetizer that came out with our entrees and it was cold. The handle on my steak knife was warner than my meatloaf. Their diner is known for comfort food but it's hardly comforting. Don't bother coming here

S H.

Yelp
Beware of ordering the impossible burger they give you some other bean/ corn patty that they don't know what it is. Is it vegan?Don't know why they would switch it and not change menu or even tell staff or customers? All other food was fine. Service was prompt and friendly. parking good, inside the building is cool. Need to keep to the menu and this place could be nice.

Yelp
During a recent long weekend in Truckee, my friend and I stopped at Jax for our last breakfast before we departed. Jax was the third place we tried for breakfast, and it was great! Breakfast served from 7-2pm daily. It is nestled right next to the train tracks, and fun to be so close to the trains as they rumble through town. It is set up like a true diner, with an adjacent room which then opened out to additional outdoor seating. We arrived around 8am on a Sunday, right before the brunch/lunch crowd. Perfect timing! We had coffee (the best of the 3 breakfast places we tried), got one order of cinnamon french toast ($11.95), and each got our own eggs. Food arrived and we were amazed at the order of french toast: 3 super thick, moist slices dusted with powdered sugar and a perfect amount of cinnamon. I got 2 eggs over medium $3.50) , and I finally got them truly over medium. It was the perfect amount of food. There was music playing overhead, not too loud, and a TV on without sound. Server Jaime was super friendly, fun and efficient. Bathrooms clean and spacious. Overall, this was our favorite breakfast place in Truckee. Well-made food at prices the lowest of the places we tried. Great atmosphere and customer service. Would definitely return!

Makenzie C.

Yelp
A cute little local place with lots of history! We decided to go on a Saturday morning and were sat immediately but a huge group of skiing teams came in afterwards - so there could be wait times. The server was nice but everything was a bit slow - most likely because she got sat multiple times in a row. The food was okay - regular diner food but that was to be expected! I got the regular breakfast with a side of french toast (okay the french toast was amazing and i could have just eaten that) and my husband got the benedict which was just okay. We did love the house hash browns.

Clark E.

Yelp
Magnificent. Split all our food up perfectly, super helpful waiter. The place was beautiful and everything on the menu looked good. 100% would come again and i recommend this to everyone

Keri C.

Yelp
Great spot to stop and have a bite in such a cute setting! The food has always been delicious when we've visited. I absolutely LOVE their Chai Latte on a blustery cold day, (basically like a dessert!!)

Linda D.

Yelp
Food is great. First time to come here. We always go to squeezin. Happy to have options. We ordered daily double, chef special, crab egg Benedict and corn beef hash. Service is a bit slow, and waiter didn't check on you. Reasonably priced. We sat outside, watching the trains went by.

Karen D.

Yelp
Cutest diner in Truckee - such a cute building but the food wasn't amazing We got an omelette, the beignets, and a chicken with biscuits and gravy dish - the biscuits and gravy were good but the beignets weren't fluffy and the omelette did not taste good Service was good they kept our coffee full and got us what we needed If u want to eat at a cute diner come here but don't expect too much from the taste!

Yelp
Got breakfast on the brain? Go to Jax! They serve the brecky pretty much all day :) I was feeling like a tried and true basic plate full of morning goodness although it was 1:30pm and Jax was the winner. We got lucky and arrived to an all but empty dining room, were seated immediately and ordered quickly. The interior is the classic diner style and the menu has all the old school favs. Had I been hungrier I'd have more to Yelp about but, yer girl was still full from dinner the night before, lol. I ordered the All Day Addiction to get all my cravings in one swoop, sweet and salty with a hint of protein. I haven't had pancakes since I was a child or, at least it seems that long ago. When my order arrived, the pancakes were fluffy and thick, I smothered them in butter and syrup as well as the boysenberry purée they serve in a ramekin (BOMB!!), the sausage was a bit chewy (and hard to cut) and of course the eggs were... eggs. I'm not typically a brecky kinda girl but when you have an itch you scratch it right?! Jax scratched my itch, won't need pancakes for a while, I'm good for at least a minute.

Marty S.

Yelp
I'm in shock because that was soooo completely disappointing. The hash browns were undercooked and cold, the service was really slow considering that there were only 4 people in the diner and the French toast was overcooked. How do you overcook French toast? If I had gotten a refill on my drink, I might not have taken the time to leave this review. Good luck when it gets busy.

Natalia C.

Yelp
The Hosts were nice and so was the person who answered the phone. Very polite! The service was not good lol. It was a mix of like they were slightly busy but not busy enough to not come check on us. It could have been better. It took so long to ask for a water pitcher. 18% gratuity automatically added for a party of 7. I wish they said something in the beginning. It was lowkey wack. The spiked lemonade was strong. The sandwiches were good. The burgers were ok. Some fries were good while others felt like they sat under the heat lamp for 10 minutes. The oreo shake was good but the orange cream one was not. A nice hot rag with cleaning solution to all of their FOH seating, front coffee top, the cases where they have stuff would not hurt at all. Like a Clorox wipe at least. It was not that clean and it would have been a better experience if it was.

Felipe S.

Yelp
The staff were awesome. Estaba chingon el servicio. La familia. So we've passed Jax at the tracks a couple of times. Finally made swung by and checked it out. **dog-friendly *** Superdope the inside is CLASICO, classic dinner style. Booths, great music, vintage photos of the area, as well as a picture of Guy Fieri(did an episode on it). So that is what got me..the location, interior, the vibe, pet-friendly, food, and service. CHINGON!! So we actually parked up by the trail and walked over the tracks and decided to check it out. We asked if they allowed dogs and we got to sit in the outside patio. They had oldies and classic rock playing on the speakers((Big Plus for a Fool like ME!!!))) FOOD!!!... Started off with the vanilla milkshake(at a diner why wouldn't you) they brought me my shake in a glass and the leftover in the mixer cup. It was perfectly thick and you could actually drink it from a straw and not have to strain yourself. MY lady had the Crab sandwich: super fresh, with a pairing of coleslaw on the side. I had the wagyu mixed with a ground beef patty and an added over-easy egg. On point couldn't ask for anything else at that moment. Tender juicy thick dam near fell in-love at that moment. PUPPY PATTY**Sealed the deal of course with ordering a patty with no spices for my pup. cooked Medium. She enjoyed it the most. service again was great they checked in on us enough. Made sure we were good.PLUS--our waitress brought a cup of water for the doggo. Always appreciate that. Check it out foo take the lady, take the fam. Won't let you down. After that enjoy the scene around and watch the train pass by. Salud!!

Brian C.

Yelp
Fun diner to get a meal. Service was really great. Food was okay but a little pricey.

Ro D.

Yelp
Food took over an hour to arrive and one person's order never even came. Food was lukewarm when it finally arrived and was unfortunately bland.

Francisco C.

Yelp
Always the stop after checking out from a weekend in Tahoe. Best breakfast and very reasonable cost wise. Servers are awesome and nice to my family and our pooch!

Cheska J.

Yelp
My family and I came here after a long day in the snow, 4 tables total. 3 of us ordered their ribeye steak medium well, both my daughter and sister in law's steak came out perfectly. Mine was a different story, other than it was the thinnest cut of all, it was Well done. I told the service to redo it as I don't like my steak well done. Server took it back and brought back the same steak, he said the cook said it was medium well. Medium well has some light pink in the middle and not all fully cooked. Instead of offering to just cook another one, he insisted that cook told him to bring it back to me coz it was medium well. I asked the service to look at my sister inlaws steak to see the difference. Mine was clearly well done. I lost my appetite and just told him to take it back and take it out of my bill. I have never been in a restaurant that refuses to make another plate when clearly with proof that my steak was well done. For $30 bucks in a diner i think they can do a better job. Bad customer service. Never coming back here again. Oh by the way, $4 bucks for a fountain soda that does not have refills, they charge if you want a refill, so might as well tell them no ice coz with a glass full of ice, u basically paid for a half glass of soda. Smh

Liliana C.

Yelp
Food was just average to below average for the price. Service was also slow. My son's $18 burger was burnt and my waffle soft and flavorless. They nickel and dime for take out boxes. Disappointed.

Carly P.

Yelp
Super bummed out about this experience! Restaruant came highly recommended and holy moly the ONLY thing good about it was the aesthetic of the building. We got sat quickly at a filthy table by the bathroom this evening, waited 45 minutes (not exaggerating- I sent a "I just ordered" text out of excitement!) for our food and ONLY saw our server twice, despite trying to flag him down for utensils, water, ect. Food was very cold and over cooked. Server never came back. Had to flag down the female busser (?) to finally run our card so we could leave. My husband took a single bite from BURNT his meal and was too disgusted to finish it, no one even acknowledged it. Much like our empty water glasses. They nickel and dime for each soda refill too. I am in the service industry and have literally NEVER not tipped, until tonight. We are left feeling robbed of our time and money- they seriously need all new staff. Except for the busser girl, shout out to her! She needs to work somewhere better! Lol

Emily R.

Yelp
Okay this time ordered the chopped salad. It was very fresh very good. Enough for two maybe. Will order again. Glad they updated the menu.

Rhonda M.

Yelp
We enjoyed our Saturday breakfast here this morning. Hubby enjoyed the Country fried steak and eggs and I had a half order of the strawberry Belgium waffle. The steak was tender and the crisp of the breading was just right. The Belgium waffle had that nice crisp on the top and the perfect sweetness with every bite. So happy that I was able to order the half waffle. It was the perfect size. The atmosphere was quiet and quaint. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area.

Karen P.

Yelp
Fun diner to warm up after a morning in the snow. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Kids preferred the "Mac and Cheese" over the chicken strips. The macaroni with cheddar cheese was VERY cheesy and a little messy/difficult for my 4 year old to eat because the stretchy stringy cheese. It was fun to see the train stop outside our window as we ate. I would return again to try other things in their extensive menu.

Wanda G.

Yelp
First time visit to Jax at the Tracks! This is a cute diner in the heart of downtown Truckee, right by the river. It is retro marvelous on the outside and the inside has an old 50s soda fountain feeling. Great vibes! The host and our waitress were super friendly and nice and efficient with a smile. Unfortunately our food was not good and it was expensive for what we got. They have a large menu and serve breakfast all day. Tons of milkshake flavors. We came here specifically because I was craving a French Dip sando. I ordered the French Dip and our waitress immediately informs us that they are 'out of french dip'..... Ugh, pivot. So I ordered a BLT sando and paid extra for avocado and onion rings (instead of fries).... My sandwich was bad. The bacon was REALLY hard and crunchy. The tomatoes still had the core in them and were hard. There was exactly one teaspoon of avocado.... Also, I paid extra for onion rings and received exactly FOUR onion rings. It was about $20 for this plate. My companion ordered chicken tenders and fries and the chicken was so oily that he didn't finish his food. Sooooooo. Sadly this place missed the mark for us. Great vibes and people, but the food fell flat.

Rosana C.

Yelp
As always when traveling we look at YELP for recommendations. Jax At the Tracks is a fun, step back into a diner atmosphere. (Amtrak came through while we were there ) Service and food were great! I would definitely recommend.

Holly S.

Yelp
Living in Reno, we travel over to Truckee a couple times a year. I must say our experience was just OK this time. There was something wrong with the front door, so it wouldn't close all the way and it was quite chilly outside causing a draft. The women's restroom was broken, so everyone in and out of the men's room ...not so great (for the poor guys at the urinal) They were busy, and I felt that our service reflected that. The food is good with a homemade flare.

Richard R.

Yelp
Ordered crab cake Benedict and coffee. Service was fine, but the meal was the worst I've had anywhere. Instead of an English muffin there was a round of what seemed to be compressed saw dust. That was topped with some sort of paste with no hint of crab. The eggs were nice and it was topped with a mustard yellow something that did not remind me of Hollandaise. The hash browns were overcooked and welded together so they were impossible to cut into. The coffee reminded me of warm dish water. The avocado garnish was nice.

Tina J.

Yelp
The fries were soggy and the bloody marys are made with rice wine. The service was meh.

Michele S.

Yelp
The Food Network logo on all the shirts should give you pause..... it seems marketing is what makes this a popular spot, as the food apparently has gone down hill since Fieri visited and made the hype. We had the calamari which was OK. The fish and chips were not good. Fish was thin, Dill breading was off, not crisp or crunchy and dill??? If there was dilll in there it was not noticeable. They offer this same fish/dill breading as a sandwich so I would skip that as well. We upgraded to the garlic truffle fries. Don't bother! Just Meh, not garlicky or crisp. Limp, lukewarm fries you can tell are from frozen. Claim chowder failed. We had to request a new clam chowder as the flour roux was not stirred in properly so we had a large clump of a mealy dough ball in the center. The replacement was OK. The sliders were hit and miss. They normally come with blue cheese crumbles & typical toppings but I asked to have one of them made with mushrooms and Swiss. So glad I did as there was hardly any blue cheese in sight on the OG slider so it was pretty bland. The doctored up cheese and mushroom slider made that plate not a complete fail. Also at 3.99 per slider (plus add ons) made that one small burger actually worth it. The milkshakes are also very good. They are $9 a pop but are large enough for 2. Seemed like a lot of staff but very little being accomplished. We had to wait at the door only to see, once we entered, that there were lots of empty tables with dirty dishes that lingered for a long while. They definitely lacked in organization and management. There was a bit of a wait for food plus small inconsistencies like not putting enough silverware and waters at the table and long waits to refill water until they finally left us a glass water container. Staff tried but it seemed they need some better management and training for the front of house. This place is not worth the hype. I would have rated it 1-2 stars but I might go again to split a milkshake and doctor up an inexpensive slider.

A A.

Yelp
Service: staff was mostly ambivalent to our existence, though some of the servers were adequate. Food: coffee arrived room temp, when we asked for fresh coffee they were nonplussed, as if this is a common occurrence. Hamburgers were ordered medium and arrived well done.

Julia R.

Yelp
Waited over 20 minutes at the counter, informed multiple people I wanted to place a to go order and everyone just nodded. Most of the staff just ignored me completely. After over 20 minutes someone finally informed me that they weren't doing to go orders. Now I know why locals stay far away from this place! Horrible customer service! It's been 5 years since we came here last and it will be at least another 5 years before I even consider stepping foot inside of this place again.

Douglas M.

Yelp
The food was ok, service was fine. The place is clean, interesting decor We ordered: Maya's Biscuit (AKA Biscuits and Gravy) (3.5 Stars) The gravy was really good, nice bits of country sausage in a creamy sauce. The sauce was a little thin, but the main reason this dish was not 4 Stars was because of the biscuit. It was to dense, not light and fluffy. They split it and grill the halfs, not the right move. It should be have split and the top with gravy. Oh well but still tasty. JAX Corned Beef Hash (2.5 Stars) If the chef executed the dish correctly it could have been awesome. They use large chunks of corned beef which is a must for corned beef hash, but mine was served with no country potatoes and way too much "spices". The "spices" sauce was overpowering and covered everything red. The peppers and onions were cut too small for had. hash mean large cut. The rest was fine, sourdough toast, perfectly toasted and buttered, 2 fried eggs with perfectly runny yokes. Very disappointed because it could have been a great dish. Orange Juice (3 Stars) nothing special, standard stuff. It should be fresh squeezed. French Toast (2.5 Stars) the bread they used was very dense, the egg Custard didn't penetrate. No creamy inside. Pass. Not sure I'll be back..

Sandra W.

Yelp
If you want decent food, go here. If you're looking for customer service, stay far away from here. We like the food, so we stop by every time we come out this way, BUT the customer service is usually poor, at best. You have to flag someone down to get help, seating is disorganized, etc. When you approach a staff, they look at you as if they do not work there- or as though you're bothering them. Staff are young and perhaps learning proper social skills and customer kindness, but it's not a place for relaxation or wine and dine or any of that. Their menu quote does not reflect the service they deliver.

Shwe P.

Yelp
It was just subpar diner food, I got the country fried steak and it was chewy. The water cup came out dirty, with stuff around the rims. Service was good

Rachael P.

Yelp
Food was delicious, reasonably priced and came lickedy split! I will be looking for ways to justify an hr drive to grab another chai latte. Will definitely eat here again

Dana D.

Yelp
Made a reservation weeks ago and they did not have it. Made us stand out in 20 degree weather while they tried to figure it out. Gave us the wrong orders. Never filled our drinks. They even charge to refill your soda! Not worth the hype! Terrible!!!!

Sandy W.

Yelp
Worth the price in gas to go to this restaurant! I initially saw Guy Fieri review this restaurant on Diners Drive In and Dives. The atmosphere was right on for a diner and the food amazing! I ordered a crab cake slider and was the best I've ever tasted. Blue crab cake with lettuce, red onion and lettuce on the perfect roll all for $4.25!! Hubby ordered the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings, which we shared and it was amazingly delicious! Would love to have the recipe! Service was very good and definitely worth going back!

Jill C.

Yelp
Pros: good sized portions (even for kids meals), tasty, good value Cons: service was skimpy at best, missing extra flatware and napkins Happy with my Sexy Chicken Sandwich - it was an interesting rub - had some warm spices on it that almost reminded me of a mole sauce. Unique and tasty. Sweet potato fries were tastier than standard.

Tommy J.

Yelp
I had higher hopes for this place as it was listed on diners, drive-ins and dives show on Food Network. it is quite a cute looking caboose style zephyr building. The first thing I have to say, the parking lot for this restaurant is a self-pay parking lot required 10 AM to 6 PM. There is some parking down the street, but it is also pay to park. as I tried to enter the parking lot, there was a huge food delivery truck blocking the entrance. I had to go down to the exit only, and then come up around the back and do a U-turn. I'm sure there's no real choice for the vendor to park there. As you can see from the pictures, walking in, the door had no handle and was propped Open by a dish towel. The door on the other side had a electrical cord going through the handle and running up along the wall to power the light. Some overgrown weeds, dead, with some garbage around the entrance. really quite strange. There is a sign that says 'please see the host to be seated' when you enter. I stood there for about eight minutes. There was a guy behind me, he finally walked around me and grabbed a table. I went into the back area and let the host/waiter know that I was there. He looked more irritated than happy to see me. He came out sat me at a table and I had to call out if I could get some coffee. The restaurant only had one other table. No idea why I was not greeted professionally. The menus were sitting on the table, and as you can see from the pictures, there was food on them. What I ordered: Bacon mushroom Swiss omelette with avocado Coffee After looking at the menu, I decided to go with Bacon mushroom and Swiss omelette with avocado added for an up charge. The coffee was standard coffee shop coffee nothing special. There was no sugar on the table so I had to flag down the server and ask him. He came and dropped a few off on the table. I had to let him know that that would not be enough. Finally I just went to another table and got my own sugar. The omelette arrived and they were so no cheese in it. that was just strange lol. An omelette without cheese... Another group of people came in, so when the lady was walking by me, I called out that there was no cheese in my omelette. The waiter apologized and took the omelette away. He returned fairly quickly and to my surprise four or five giant slices of Swiss cheese were thrown in the omelette and barely heated. at this point I actually laughed out loud. Went from no cheese, to smothered in cheese. So much cheese, I couldn't see or taste anything else. As I said in the beginning, I had such high hopes for this place. Run down, dirty, poor service, order prepared incorrectly and then the fix for the mistake was even worse. I now knew why the place was near empty after trying some of the other breakfast houses that were packed at this time. No attention to quality or cleanliness. Sadness :( I won't be back.

Yelp
I've been coming to Jax for years and I love it every time. It's a cool old diner that's built out of a railroad car and has quite the historic story to it. It's got the classic diner booth seats along with bar seating and on nice days in the summer outdoor seating where you can bring your dog. They have a really big menu and also serve breakfast along with bunch of different types of milkshakes so there's some thing for everyone. The portions are a really good size, the prices are not bad for Tahoe. I've always been able to be seated pretty much right away and the customer service has never been an issue they always have staff there that is attentive and helpful. It does cost to park during certain hours in the parking lot there now so that is a bummer. It could use a little bit of an interior update but this is still a nice comforting cozy place where you can always get good food for a good price.

Yelp
Went to Truckee for a Dr's apt. Couldn't find a great shoulder dr in Reno. Found Jax for breakfast. Very interesting building, it's a 1930's old diner. Ordered eggs Benedict with crab cakes and hash browns! Absolutely perfect. Home made English muffins, crab cakes crisp and tasty & bacon bloody Mary's perfect. Arrived quickly and our waitress was very helpful and friendly. Only draw back was a gentleman 2tables away that thought we should hear his entire phone conversation, in Spanish and at a decibel rating of 10+. Oh well we still had a great meal.
