"There’s nothing like freshly caught fish for lunch, and that’s exactly what’s being served at Jax Fish Fry. The northern-inspired fish restaurant is dishing out some of the best, and cheapest meals in the city. All of the dishes are made fresh to order, which means that nothing sits under a heat lamp and fried dishes are hot and crispy when delivered. Some of the top fried options include cod, shrimp and oysters. For those who want a taste of Maine, try the lobster lovers roll, which has chilled lobster salad stuffed into a toasted potato roll with fries for under $20." - Megan duBois

I visited JFF and ordered a shrimp and onion ring platter with side fries and side fish. The total was 24.92.. What I received was scraps of fish parts, no fries, and I believe 8 shrimp. The fish they charged me almost $7 for that was 2 pinky sized broken up pcs. I am a cook and a retired 100% disabled veteran, and while I enjoy eating out, I am very selective. I chose JFF bcs it was clean and claimed quality seafood. All of their products are from the freezer and bag, not fresh, weighted, or what have you. Nonetheless, when I got the plate, I enquired to where the fish was. The response was its hiding. When I got to the table I move the few shrimp and located the scraps of fish and immediately requested either better quality, condition fish for $7.00. The young lady said she had to call the owner. I was thinking the manager or someone in the store but she came to my table and said the owner was ok with what I received and that the fish was from Boston or wherever and that I had to keep the poor quality/quantity and be satisfied. As a great cook and retired/disabled veteran I find it horrible that a business gets to tell you the customer what is good for you and your hard earned money. It is apparent that thus place is all about themselves and could careless about the customer military or senior citizens and the like, it is ALL ABOUT THEM AND THEM TAKING YOUR MONEY WHILE GIVING THE CONSUMER WHATEVER! What I asked for was the refund for the fish as it was way below standard and I refused to eat or accept. I left the poor scraps with the cashier and await the owners call as I left my name and number for a deserved response and refund as a customer and consumers deserve.

Google
Jax fish fry is a local gem with absolutely fantastic lobster rolls and fish rolls. Super small menu makes ordering a breeze. Their potato wedges are absolutely stellar as well. For the money, this lobster roll is hands-down the best value for money in the city! This review pertains to the Baymeadows location, but they also have a location off of 210 in St John's county. Support local and get yourself a cod or lobster roll today!

Food could have been seasoned a bit more and fish fried longer. Service was good. Cashier made a smart comment about me grabbing two extra napkins when getting my food at the counter, but overall the atmosphere was welcoming.

Google
We stopped at Jax Fish Fry while driving from South Carolina to St. Augustine, just looking for a quick bite—and we’re so glad we did! The prices were great, the food was even better, and the whole place had a laid-back, coastal charm. The lobster roll was fresh and buttery, just the right amount of richness without being too heavy. And the onion rings? Perfectly crispy and addictive—we could have eaten a second order. What really made our visit, though, was our lovely waitress. She was warm, attentive, and made us feel right at home. While the chef wasn’t particularly outgoing, the great service more than made up for it. Definitely a hidden gem if you’re passing through Jacksonville. We’d stop again in a heartbeat!

Do yourself a favor and grab a bite at Jax fish fry! They are always clean, always fast, and always nice! The food is delicious, fresh, high quality seafood.

Google
First time every having a lobster roll, and was not disappointed. It was moist, rich, and full of lumpy chunks of sweet lobster. I got a side of clams and they were perfectly done, not tough or rubbery, but tender and crisp. Love the unique fry shape, but they need a bit more seasoning/salt. I will be back! Thanks Jax Fish Fry!

Google
The service was excellent. The cashier Lexi was really nice, patient, and well informed about the items on the menu. The restaurant was also very clean. The food was good, but not 5 star good. The fish and fries are similar to the British fish and chips. I don't usually have to season my food as restaurants, but I had to add salt and pepper to the fish to bring out the flavor. The lobster roll was a nice size portion. It's just lobster and season. The clams were really good too. It's worth a visit if you're in the area. The portion and prices may be off-putting for some, but I was satisfied .

Google
Pricey lobster roll but delicious, a decent amount of meat and the fries are incredible.

Yelp
I went here with my grandma to try this place out for the first time. I have been wanting to try it and my grandma loves fish and chips so I thought it was the perfect opportunity to go. We ordered one of each. Cod basket, shrimp basket, lobster roll, and a chocolate moouse for dessert. Everything was so fresh and good! The shrimp was jumbo and not rubbery. The fish was great. The lobster roll was bomb! I save it for the next day because I couldn't finish it and it was still so so good! The chocolate mousse dessert, OMG melts in your melt. Tastes like heaven. I highly and definitely recommend this place! Will come back again :)

Yelp
After thoroughly reading through all the rave reviews, we decided to stop by Jax Fish Fry and give their fish and chips a try. We were thrilled that we did! The fried fish basket was lightly breaded with great seasoning, and both the 'fries' or chips were delicious. We even opted to add some succulent shrimp to our meal - equally delish! The only downside was that we didn't have enough room for desserts... maybe next time perhaps?

Yelp
I stopped by Jax Fish Fry for the first time on Saturday. Happy to report that it lived up to the hype! My first impression? Loved the esthetic & it was spotless I knew what I was ordering before I arrived - the Lobster Lovers Roll (Maine lobster, celery, mayonnaise, chives, & seasonings on a grilled split top potato roll). All of the rolls are served with the most unique fries I've ever had. They are closer in width to a potato chip & delicious. But the star of the show is of course, the lobster roll. I'm not a celery or chives fan but that wasn't an issue because the lobster is so lightly dressed. The roll was honestly perfect from the sweet lobster to the soft, toasted bun *Note for the Diet Coke fiends. I am a recovering DCF who only partakes in a fountain DC occasionally nowadays. They have Coke Zero as the diet soda option, so I drank tea instead.

Yelp
Good food, ok service. Employees were nice, but we had to go back up for missing items more than once (beer, then the ranch we ordered). Food: Good. Lobster rolls were good, some chewy pieces this time which I didn't love. Fish sandwich was yummy, shrimp was good but not great (smaller, not as flavorful as some others). Sauces as very good Environment: Nice, casual, clean.

Laurel J.

Yelp
Best fried clams I've ever had! (Aside from the fresh ones I've fixed myself.) I got the shrimp basket & added clam strips. Everything was delicious! Food was fresh & the variety of dipping sauces were all wonderful. I couldn't choose a favorite, so I used some of all. I will def be back & highly recommend this for your fresh seafood fix!

Yelp
Delicious cod platter with cole slaw and french fries. Missed not having hush puppies but, I guess you can't have it all. Their logo is bringing a little North to the South, but I would be careful with that, southerners don't want to hear such things (I'm from Ohio and been here since '85 so trust me, I know the natives). I think I'll go with the sandwich next time to check out the bun situation, but cod was delicious, fries were tasty and hot, cole slaw OK. Sounds like I need to investigate the lobster roll as well.

Yelp
I had this placed marked for a time when I was close, well that day was today. When I looked, I saw a menu with a lobster roll for $11, but when I saw current menu it was $18. Yes, I was looking at an old menu but I soldiered on. Service was very pleasant and all questions were answered. And after I placed my order (lobster roll and fries) they pointed me to a sauce bar ......instant game changer. If you have read my other reviews you know I am going to try them all so I can report back. So guess what, here I go: Fries - nib style, like a curled thick potato chip. Perfect for scooping sauce. Jax Sauce - not got me, consistency was weird and the taste was not for me. Ketchup - it was ketchup, thick and good Remoulade - oh my gosh, SO GOOD I could bath in it. Lobster Roll - served cold, I like cold lobster, I did not like the flavor. But guess what, in the roulade sauce it was freaking awesome. The price of the lobster threw me, but the sauces were amazing. Park is a bit tricky and please get over the office strip center, it is clean and sharp inside.

Yelp
We were in the area and found this place by searched for lobster rolls on Yelp. We WERE VERY happy with everything about this place. The service was top notch, you can tell the people working there care about what they're doing. I got the Lobster Roll because that's what I was looking for in the first place. It was exactly what I wanted. Big chunks of lobster, on a good roll with just enough sauce. My girlfriend had the Shrimp Roll and she said she lived that the shrimp wasn't breaded too much. She referred to it as "the perfect amount of breading". I tried onion rings as a side and she got the fries. After trying both, I'd definitely go with the fries next time. The onion rings weren't bad, but I liked the fries way better. We will he visit visiting this place again and soon!

Yelp
I've heard such wonderful things about the lobster rolls from Jax Fish Fry, and because they're close to my home I was really rooting for them! Ultimately the lobster rolls weren't for me. The lobster texture was dry, there was what appeared to be minced celery mixed in (reminded me more of a lobster salad). I'm used to big thick pieces of lobster dressed with mayo or butter on a buttered warm bun, the lobster salad vibe really threw this north eastern girl off. The bun was really soft and sort of falling apart. I did like that they had several sauce dispensers so you can really get creative with dippers! I think this would be a great option for a lot of people who just really enjoy seafood but if you're a purist looking for a CT or ME roll, this will fall flat.

Yelp
I found this place on yelp when I was driving into Jacksonville Florida. I love me some seafood and lobster rolls or one of my top faves. When I walked in, I know what is it I couldn't find the menu. Turns out I passed it. Is at the front of the restaurant. The lobster roll is $18, but it is worth it. I was worried that it wouldn't be filling, but it is filled with so much meat. It's very unpretentious. It's made very simple. No bells and whistle's. Just meat and bread. But oh my God, it is so worth it. The woman at the counter said she recommended just a splash of lemon and that's what I did. The french fries seem like they were fresh potatoes, sliced with some sort of peeler. But I went through those first. And I'm not really a french fry girl. I would definitely go here again.

Yelp
This is purely based off of their absolutely fantastic lobster roll. Yes a good lobster roll in Jacksonville, FL. This lobster roll is lightly dressed and absolutely packed full of meat, not filler like competitors in town. Jax Fish Fry also does something magical with their potatoes. I cannot explain it, you'll just have to order it. At the time of writing, this combination was $18.99. Well worth the price if you're a lobster lover like me! Support local and eat well!

Mark M.

Yelp
Jax fish fry I have to say. It's worth a try or too. Lightly breaded not to heavy, fries were good or chip fries.. clams were really good but the shrimp are very very good. Fish is light and goes down well. 4.3/5 I will be back for the lobster roll

Mike S.

Yelp
Finally we made it to Jax Fish Fry! I will say it took us wayyyyyy to long but was glad we made it. We came in on a Saturday around 12:00-12:30PM and were surprised by it not being extremely packed. We walked up to the counter and ordered. Since it was our first time was had to order 3 things. We went with the Lobster Lover's Roll, The Crabby Sliders, and the No Baby Shrimp Roll. We got 2 of them with Fries and 1 with the Onion Rings. You can do that when their prices are so good. We also chatted with the owners for a bit which is always great. Once ordered we took a number and picked ourselves out a table. I also saw that they had one of my favorite things a restaurant can have.. A Sauce Bar!!!!! So I had to get my sauces loaded up. Our food came out pretty quickly and everything looked great and we quickly got into it. The fries are some of the best I have ever had and also some of the most unique. The Crabby Sliders were also very tasty and went great with the Remoulade from the sauce bar. The Shrimp Roll was also good. They were might they were not baby shrimps. I also liked how the shrimp had a light batter because many fried shrimps breading is too thick. As for the Lobster Roll it was stuffed with lobster which is the only way to do it. So glad we were finally able to give this place a try. They got great food, prices, owners, and of course a sauce bar!

Yelp
While on the southside of Jacksonville, Florida, I stumbled upon this hidden gem in my search for a nice fried fish lunch. Jax Fish Fry like to boast that they bring a bit of the North to the South. What they mean is that they are bringing an upstate New York fish fry to Jacksonville, Florida. The restaurant is located in a nondescript business plaza that seems more an office complex than an actual shopping plaza and I have driven by this shopping plaza countless times and have never noticed Jax Fish Fry and honestly, I am a bit sad that I have not been coming here longer. The ordering process is pretty straightforward. You go up to.the counter, place your order, give them your name and when the food is ready, they call out your name and you retrieve your food. As per the friendly woman's suggestion, I went with the fried cod basket, which came with french fries and coleslaw. There were three of us and the others ordered the lobster roll and a chicken tender basket. I have to tell you that this was an incredible meal. My cod was fried to perfection and the french fries were some of the best that I have ever had. The coleslaw was alright, though nothing special. My friend who had the lobster roll said it was decent, but not great. Pricing was good. My cod basket, which came with two pieces of fish, french fries and coleslaw, was eleven dollars. The lobster roll was eighteen dollars and the chicken basket was nine dollars. All in all, if you find yourself in the southside of Jacksonville and want a good fish fry, I would definitely recommend Jax Fish Fry.

Yelp
It's a long ass drive to Singlton's or Safe Harbor or Sandollar or Seafood Kitchen from the Southside. Most of the good seafood joints in Jax are concentrated in the northeast part of town(I'm not saying all of them). These are all worth the drive of course but not places you can zip over to unless you've got an hour drive time to kill. The answer my friends is Baymeadows very own Jax Fish Fry. Roger and Dori have answered the call and have brought delicious fried seafood baskets and sandwiches to the heart of the city. Centered perfectly between Baymeadows industrial and corporate corridors as well as it's diverse residential tracts, Jax Fish Fry will have you hooked after one visit. For years it was like fishing on the left side of Simon Peter's boat with Thomas (also known as Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other dudes. On this day Jesus said, "Raed, cast your net into Jax Fish Fry." My net nearly busting, I hauled in a Lobster Roll with Onion Rings. I also ordered a Cod Basket with their specialty fries. But my cup runneth over so I grabbed the Add On Shrimp Oysters and Clams. Finally I snagged their homemade Cheesecake. I don't believe in doing or saying "Best" because it's subjective. And in 16 years in Jacksonville I haven't had a single lobster roll except from my old employer Mitchell's Fish Market which is gone the way of the Dodo . So I don't have much to compare this to. But I'm willing to bet there's not a single lobster roll anywhere in Jacksonville that comes with as much lobster meat as I had on my sandwich. The bun was a little small for all the meat that came with it but that's just fine when you're talking about a high dollar seafood item. This was the absolute gold standard for lobster rolls and I challenge anyone to suggest a better option. The cod fillets were thick and crisp with a tasty light batter. The onion rings were perfect. The add ons were all good but I would consider beefing up the portions a bit(I dropped $60 bones before tip). I used their homemade cocktail, Jax Sauce(kind of a chili sauce) and Tartar as well as some malt vinegar. Even if you hate seafood Dori's desserts and in particular her cheesecake is worth the drive from Mayport to Bayard to Fort Caroline. Absolute perfection for $7 and a huge slice to boot. I believe they offer 3 toppings. I got strawberry and caramel. Set a course for Jax Fish Fry and with any luck you'll have a stong tailwind at your back. Check the hours as they have updated their business operating hours to accommodate the Lentin Season of fasting.

Yelp
The service at this restaurant is awesome. The star is the food. We had The lobster roll w/ fries, Whole belly clams add shrimp w/ fries. All were very delicious and well seasoned. Great lunch that didn't leave us feeling weighed down even though the fries, clams, and shrimp were fried. You gotta try this spot. I'm anxiously awaiting the new location in St. Augustine. It was so good I forgot to take my picture before we finished. Maybe next time lol

Karen T.

Yelp
Highly recommend if you're hungry for some hot, fresh, and delicious seafood. The menu offers fried baskets with fries, and slaw. Onion rings are available too. The restaurant is very clean, and the associates are no slackers!

Ej S.

Yelp
Great food. Always Fresh, quick, and plentiful. Definitely my go-to source for great seafood.

Clive L.

Yelp
First thing I notice was how clean this restaurant is. Customer service is top tier. I had the shrimp roll with fries season perfectly and the fries were great. Fries had a chip like cut to them. I'll give Jax Fish a "YOU MUST EAT HERE REVIEW". I'll be back next time I'm in Jacksonville. Additional plus were the sauce station. I'll let you guys come enjoy it for yourself.

Jamie W.

Yelp
Oh how I wanted to be writing a raving review, but I just can't. Staff was very friendly. The young man behind the counter asked if we had been there, and when learning we had not, recommended the Cod Basket and/or the Shrimp Basket. We decided to take his recommendations and ordered one of each to share (with my youngest daughter today). Food is made to order, which is always a plus, and we were able to add extra fries since we both declined cole slaw (there is a $0.50 upcharge). Food came out quickly, and nice and hot. Fries are actual potato slices, thin and crispy on the outside. Fish was two fair sized pieces. The issue was the grease dripping off the bottom and making the breading on the bottom very soggy. My little paper tray was half full of grease (they have a paper down, so that prevents it from leaking). Unfortunately, that meant that a good portion of my fries were also swimming in the liquid. Not appetizing, and not very tasty when you expect crispy fries and breading. The fish itself tasted good. Shrimp were good - a few a tad overcooked and tough, and the breading had a slight flavor of possibly baking soda? Not sure if it's what they clean the shrimp with or what might be in the batter? Not a bad taste per se, but just not exactly pleasant either. They offer an array of sauces you can serve yourself, including tarter, ketchup, Jax sauce, Remoulade, & maybe one other? Neither of us cared for the Jax sauce - seemed more like a salsa? But the Remoulade - OMG - amazing. Tangy, spicy, just yumminess. For the price I know if a few other spots I'd rather go where the food is more consistent and plentiful. Now for the dropping of a star from 3 to 2 - one of the employees, a young man behind the counter (not the one in a mask that had greeted us), wiped his arm and hand on his nose, twice, and then proceeded to take food and put it into baskets without washing his hands. I just happened to look up as he did it, and waited for him to go in the back to wash up. No such luck. It was very disheartening to see his total lack of knowledge that what he had just done would contaminate anything he touched at that point. Regardless of whether he was going to touch food or not, after wiping your nose on your hand and arm, you should be washing your hands, period. For that reason alone I would not return.

Yelp
We FINALLY made it! I have wanted to try this restaurant for months. After leaving Sensory Towne we headed over for some lunch. The staff is friendly and the owner personally walked around asking the guest if they were enjoying their meal. I also observed that the owner greeted her regulars by name and for all of us newbies she ask how we had heard about them. Speaking to the owner she told us they are also going to be opening another location that is currently in construction off the 210 by the new hospital. This is in our neck of the woods so we were thrilled to hear this!!! The food is absolutely fantastic! My husband ordered no baby shrimps sandwich which comes with fries can I order the card basket It comes with fries and coleslaw, we ordered two drinks and dessert, We had the great white and the key lime pie. The total was $38 and some change, very reasonable prices for seafood. There is no children's menu but our toddler ate off of our plate and enjoyed the shrimp and the fish along with some cake. The potato bread roll used for the not baby shrimp sandwich was soft and delicious the shrimp and the fish were breaded nicely where it allowed you to get the flavor of the protein. The french fries seem like a mix between steak fries and potato wedges. If you are looking for delicious seafood or was on the fence I think you would enjoy Jax fish fry.

T G.

Yelp
Quick, straightforward, fresh with an attentive staff! Non pretentious ambiance very clean.

Neila Z.

Yelp
New England delicious in Jacksonville!! The fries are heaven. Locally owned. The lobster roll is cold and juicy, fish is barely breaded, Clsms are perfect.

Sharon H.

Yelp
Cheesecake was !! Not sure who's idea it was to cut those potatoes that way for the fries but they are a definite winner! Customer service was great! Will definitely return!

Jessica D.

Yelp
I've had Jax Fish Fry bookmarked for quite a while now but wasn't super intrigued until everyone was raving about it on The Scoops with Jax on fb. I'll admit I'm not a huge fish & chips person which is why it wasn't a must to try but I do love me some seafood so they had me at lobster roll. We were the first customers on a Saturday morning and were greeted by the owner. Took a look at the menu & ordered the lobster roll & fried cod basket for us to try. They had the sauces on the side that were self served - jax sauce, ketchup, cocktail, tartar and remoulade. Our food was ready quick! In about 5 minutes or so. The basket also came with a coleslaw. Both meals came with fries. Their fries are different. Thick but crispy. We both enjoyed the fries. The fried cod was so good! Cooked perfectly and not oily and this is coming from someone who doesn't particularly like fried fish. The lobster roll was great! Not the best I've had but generous on the amount of lobster and the roll was perfectly buttered and toasted. We enjoyed both plates. My husband chose remoulade as his favorite dip and I preferred the tartar. Their cocktail sauce was perfect as well but I prefer shrimp with cocktail. The coleslaw is not southern coleslaw and they don't claim it to be. So not the typical heavy Mayo coleslaw we're used to, just a light coleslaw. The lobster roll was market price, I want to say $17.. and the cod basket was $11 so reasonably priced. Definitely will be coming back! I would love to try something new next time but I really enjoyed the cod basket and my husband really enjoyed the lobster roll so who knows if we'll ever get around to trying something different. Also they had desserts that looked amazing! Will try that next time for sure.

John C.

Yelp
First place we ate at once we arrived back in country and have to say it was amazing! Customer service matched the exceptional fish quality! Thanks guys!

Karen C.

Yelp
Fast service, friendly staff and great food! Everyone at our table had a great meal. The cod was light and flaky, the shrimp wasn't too over battered and the oysters were cooked just right. Loved the French fries too. They were almost like petals so it made it really easy to dip in whatever sauce you chose - remoulade, tarter sauce, cocktail sauce or even vinegar and ketchup. They had a small assortment of baked goodies as well. They all looked delicious but we were so stuffed from our meal that we did t leave room for anything. Next time!

Ilona Y.

Yelp
First time today. Ordered lobster roll. Nice grill on the side of the bun. Decided I either need more mayonnaise or hot with butter. But the lobster was moist. The star are the chips today! Slightly curled and so delicious! I mixed ketchup with Jax sauce. Great combo. $3.25 for a small coleslaw. A bit too expensive. There are other hand-held options plus platters. I will be back to sample. This is an order-and-pickup place. Beer options. Very clean. Two people working. Very friendly and walked around to ask how the food was. Come try for yourself!!

Leona L.

Yelp
The food was a bit oily, and needed more seasoning, but generally it was OK. The customer service was not great. Not sure if the lady was not having a good day or just did not want to be there. We spent roughly $48 for 2 meals. This was my first and last visit. The restaurant was clean, and had a great ambiance. The customer service needs to really improve.

Joseph K.

Yelp
I don't even like fish, but this place is seriously amazing! Get the fried cod sandwich!

Kathy O.

Yelp
My daughter in law and I both had the lobster rolls. We both thought they were delicious. It's the best lobster roll I've had since Maine. The big chucks of lobster meat were tender and fresh with just a hint of mayo. The french fries that came with our basket were like a a very thick fried potato chip. Simply exceptional! The staff was professional and friendly. The restaurant was clean. We will definitely be back!

Jim D.

Yelp
Just had lunch today and felt we should comment on what a wonderful lunch it was. Cod nuggets or bites, were new and delicious. Tender small chunks of cod, lightly battered and a very nice portion. Blew me away! My wife's serving of fried shrimp was the same. Very tender, and a nice light batter. We both commented that it was the best lunch we have had in months. And, their fries, cole slaw are both top notch. Place very busy, good Lent business.

Duffymp48 ..

Yelp
Busy place with really great service! The food is super fresh and fantastic! I would recommend Jax Fish Fry if you are ok with fried foods!

C L.

Yelp
The lobster roll was great and full of lobster meat. I also purchased the crab cake rolls, absolutely disgusting! The flavor was artificial like something you would purchase from a grocery store, more filler than crabmeat. The potato fries are really good. I also like the variety of sauces that are available. I personally think this place is over priced. *** Yes... disgusting is a strong word, but it's also my opinion. Also you mentioned my husband... I came by myself for lunch, ordered to go and I didn't order any desserts. The comments that my husband was upset with the prices and that I ordered 3 desserts was (maybe) a mistake on your part. Again loved the lobster roll and MY opinion still stands concerning the crab sliders. Please understand this only MY opinion and as an owner service extends beyond the restaurant.

Yelp
I found this place on Yelp and was so excited to try it. I live closer to Tallahassee so it was almost a 2 hour drive to get there. I walked in and there was only 1 guest eating. First flag. When I ordered, I specifically asked how big the lobster roll was, as I'd never had one. This lobster roll was the ONLY reason why I came here. The person that took my order said that it wasn't the most popular item on the menu. I ordered anyway. Note; it comes cold with Mayo and celery and ?? I asked if they have the hot version with melted butter and was told no. Backstory-I've been pricing flights to Maine just to have one of these. I'd seen it on tv years ago and wanted one for myself. The roll was small. Just a few inches long. The lobster was old. Chewy and dry. The seasoning wasn't evenly spread throughout. Some pieces had it, some didn't. The bread was the best thing about the roll. I also had coleslaw and could've eaten the entire portion with one bite. It was small. Ketchup serving size cup small. I said no fries, I wish I could go back and get them. Probably would have been better than everything else. Final thoughts- I am really glad I ate here. Now I'll know what to look for when I eat my next one somewhere else.

Yelp
This is an easy 5 of 5 stars! The service was so good and friendly that they already got 3 stars but the food was great giving them the full 5! On a whim my husband and I decided to stop by Jax Fish Fry, it had been on our list for a while but we were just never in the area. Errands brought us close to the area so we stopped in for lunch. When we first walked in we were treated with a friendly smile and hello from the whole staff. We must have looked a bit lost because someone quickly came over to hand us menus (there were none in the basket) and make some helpful suggestions. The, I believe, owner came up to us to find out if we had been there before and how we found out about Jax Fish Fry. We very quickly let him know that we are avid users of yelp and Jax Fish Fry gets a very high rating on yelp so we had to check it out. We talked with him for a while about being yelp elite and eating food all over the country. He was very friendly and very pleasant to talk with. For food I ended up ordering the lobster roll, it was delicious!!! I will confess I have since had a lobster roll that was better however it also cost almost $70 so this is still the best reasonably priced lobster roll I have had since Boston. I ordered the fries as my side and they were the wedge style fries but thinner than the standard wedge and much better than a typical wedge fry. We also tried the shrimp sandwich which was good but may be a little dry luckily there's a condiment station nearby so you can add as much or as little of any condiments you want. For both the shrimp sandwich and the lobster roll I did add a bit of mayo as I thought both were a little dry by themselves. One thing that I never comment on when it comes to restaurants but should comment on more is Jax Fish Fry was incredibly clean the whole restaurant from the entrance to the bathrooms to the counters and the tables everything was very clean. We will absolutely be back hopefully very soon!

Yelp
I've been here numerous times and always found them quick and accommodating. I typically order the lobster roll when I go. They have desserts behind the counter and I always recommend them to friends when they say they are going. Their desserts are great and I feel that they are highly underrated and unexpected since it's a seafood place. The place is nice and you can smell the food cooking as soon as you step inside.

Yelp
The place is cute and clean. You order your food at the counter & then pick it up once it's done. I got a lobster roll & my husband got crab cakes. I've been in jacksonville for 2 years & have been craving a good lobster roll. So glad i found this place! My only complaint is that i didn't have enough lol. They had a wide variety of sauces to compliment your food. I highly recommend. The prices were not cheap , but it was worth it. Also, we were greeted as soon as we walked in and they were very friendly, customer service was great. My husband said his crab cakes were delicious too.

Yelp
Food is made when you order it. The cod basket is always fresh, hot, and crispy. If you go for lunch, you won't need dinner that night. Also, the onion rings are amazing.

Yelp
JAX FISH FRY = 904 MUST TRY First time checking out the spot yesterday for a quick lunch to-go and was warmly greeted by the staff and was following all the pandemic protocols (masks, hand hand sanitizers, social distancing) for everybody's safety. It was very clean inside too. We ordered the Lobster Love Roll for $11.00 which is pretty popular and was very tasty and oozing with red saucey goodness. Josh, our server recommended the Fried Cod Basket which also goes for $11.00, was very fresh and delicious with its golden texture and the the inside of the fish was perfectly cooked and goes very well with a sauce I never tried before called Remoulade - a French cold sauce that is similar to Tartar sauce but more yellowish and contains curry, horseradish, piccalilli and other spices. The orders usually comes with sides of fries and we replaced one with Onion Rings for an extra $1.50 (They are huge) Dori, one of the owners was very accomodating and openly talked about how she thought about the restaurant for over 15 years while she was still in Upstate NY, as one feels and sees the commitment and passion in serving the people inside the venue. They even have their own F.I.S.H. Philosophy: Fantabously Inspired Service Here So come by and check-out JAX Fish Fry, I am sure we will be back to dine-in next time and try the other seafood baskets :)

Yelp
The food was as great. The only problem I had was the portion sizes. If you're hungry, this is really not the place to go eat.

Yelp
My visit to this place was long overdue and let me tell you all, this place really lives up to the hype!! They have a simple menu, friendly staff, speedy service, and delicious food! I got their Lobster Lovers Roll and Fried Cod Basket! The lobster roll contains Maine lobster, celery, mayo, chives, and seasonings served in a grilled split top potato roll! The cod basket comes in a generous portion size and the fish was crispy and flavorful! These fresh ingredients combined with their great selection of sauces was perfect!

Yelp
Another great visit. Nice friendly owner and crew. Super clean and immaculate. Really delicious food, fresh, cooked to order but quick, and homemade sauces to match your mood. My cod, clams, and fries definitely hit my desire for a nice seafood lunch. Cooked to perfection. Also came with nice coleslaw. They are very fairly priced. So with all the above... they'll continue to stay on my radar. Maybe I'll see you there!

Yelp
For some reason I had a taste for fried seafood. While that rarely happens, I knew just where I wanted to go to get my fried seafood fix. I drove over to Jax Fish Fry about an hour before closing on a Friday evening. There were only a couple of people in there and the place was very bright and clean. As I was walking to the counter to place my order, I passed the dessert display and those chocolate cakes definitely caught my eye. I ordered the shrimp basket and added a piece of fish. I also asked the employee assisting me to add a slice of the cake that he thought was best. He chose the chocolate cake with buttercream icing. As I was paying, I noticed a key lime pie and other desserts behind the counter, which also looked delicious. The wait was very short and in about 10 minutes, I had my meal and some of their sauces to go. The food was hot, fresh, and it smelled great on the drive home. The shrimp was well breaded and seasoned, although a little salty, and the fish was nice and flaky. I liked their Jax sauce, which tasted like a combination of cocktail sauce and relish. The fries probably would've been better had I eaten them there as the significant condensation in the container likely caused them to be soggy and they appeared to be a little undercooked. I enjoyed the meal. I thought that the value was reasonable for the shrimp basket at $11 but I was not sure that the thin piece of fish was worth the $5 add on charge. It would've been great to have had some hush puppies as part of the meal. Seafood aside, I must admit that the best part of the meal for me was the cake. It was soft, moist, not too sweet, and the buttercream icing was luscious. I would drive over there again just for the dessert.

Yelp
We had the fried cod and it was very tasty. The slice of Oreo pie was fantastic. Will be back soon!

Yelp
Clean atmosphere, delicious food, reasonable prices. The menu is a bit short but what they sell is good.

Yelp
So, what's the catch? No pun Intended. Jax fish fry was great! Easy concept, uncomplicated menu, and just good food. The place was really clean, staff was very friendly and welcoming. Yes- it's fried seafood. But, I've had enough mess-ups of even just that. We had the cod basket, the shrimp basket and shared a lobster roll. All were decent sized portions, fish was great and the shrimp was delightful. The lobster was delish- it's served cold style, which we didn't mind. I also didn't need to eat most of the fries. I couldn't stop eating the fries. Oh, and Dori (sp?) the owner....makes cheesecakes. Eat the cheesecake.

Yelp
I stopped by Jax Fish Fry on a Saturday evening since we were in the mood for seafood and had been meaning to try it for some time. I'm happy to say, the trip was a total success. We ordered a basket of shrimp with fries and added on clams, a cod basket with onion rings, and a lobster roll with fries. We were a little afraid that this wouldn't be enough food for four, but it filled us up (my wife, sister-in-law, and mother-in-law aren't huge eaters). We ordered this for takeout, and it was ready in about 10 minutes since there were a couple of people ahead of us. The service was fast and friendly, and the shop is very clean... almost too clean. I would have tried some of the tasty looking desserts, but I wasn't in the mood for more sweets after crushing some donuts in the morning. The fried shrimp and cod were both delicious-fresh and well-seasoned. The clams weren't too special, a lot of breading. The onion rings were top-notch, and the fries were tasty and unique- much has been said about their thin and wide slice-style fries. While the fries are a high point, don't sleep on the onion rings or you'll miss out. The lobster roll ($18) was simple and good- just straight buttered lobster on a toasted potato roll. If you're looking for a simple and fast fish fry, give Jax Fish Fry a shot. The cod and shrimp baskets are where it's at, and I'll definitely be back to enjoy them again.
