Google
Love going to Jax for fresh seafood and oysters. It never disappoints. They have a small patio area outside for seating and many places inside. This spot is VERY popular so I would make a reservation, and say you'd like outdoor seating if you're interested. It gets easily crowded and loud here. Monday is all day happy hour! Great vibes and great place for dinner.

Review of Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar Jax Fish House & Oyster Bar is a fantastic spot for seafood lovers, offering some of the freshest and most flavorful dishes in town. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly greeted by the hostess, whose welcoming energy and attentiveness set the tone for a great evening. She was friendly, professional, and made sure we were seated comfortably, making us feel truly valued as guests. The ambiance at Jax is cozy and inviting, perfect for an intimate dinner or a relaxed night out with friends. The food was absolutely wonderful—fresh, well-prepared, and bursting with flavor. The oysters were incredibly fresh, and every dish we tried showcased high-quality ingredients. It’s clear they take great care in sourcing and preparing their seafood. Our waitress was alright—attentive enough, but she didn’t quite match the exceptional service we received from the hostess. A little more warmth and engagement would have elevated the experience even further. That said, the overall dining experience was still enjoyable, thanks to the fantastic food and welcoming atmosphere. If you’re a seafood fan, Jax is definitely worth a visit. The combination of fresh, expertly prepared dishes and a cozy environment makes for a great dining experience. Hopefully, all the staff can match the level of service that the hostess provided, as she truly stood out in making our evening special!

Google
Our waiter was great. However, the greeter, the tall blonde guy, seated us by the restrooms even though we had a reservation and there were empty tables all around. The food was too salty. Portions were small, and not that good.

Get in there for Happy Hour. It was grad weekend in Boulder and busy from the jump. We never lacked for service - the food, drinks and attention kept on coming. Thanks to Alex - waiter extraordinaire!

Google
Great spot in Boulder with a fun vibe and excellent service! The miso spicy mushroom had a nice kick, and the oysters (West and East Coast) were fresh and flavorful. The mussels were generous, and the blue crab artichoke dip was a standout. Pair it all with their excellent wine selection. Highly recommend!

To start with we called two times to ask about the fresh seafood and to make a reservation and got no response twice with no call back. We then arrived to be told they were on a 40min wait and they’d make a reservation for us at 6:45 which we only got the text to come at 7. Our server was generally unhelpful with my questions about their fresh seafood and to make matters even better there was a hair on our raw food, which seems far from consumable at that point. We then waited over 30min for our server to give us our check and had to ask another service staff to finally allow us to leave. The atmosphere was very gloomy on top of the unsanitary food as well as it simply not being very good made the entire experience far from enjoyable. Especially given the price range you will be paying going here I would expect the service to be attentive enough to not allow there to be hair in the food their serving. A genuinely disgusting experience and would suggest others to find other dinning options.

Google
Was truly impressed by Jax. Id been in a few times just for oysters and drinks but recently dined in and enjoyed the full experience. The team was incredible, food was exactly what we were looking for, and beverages were beyond stellar. Only docked a point on service because of missing some of the finer points but that’s truly nitpicking. Really happy with our experience at Jax boulder and we will be back!

Google
Absolutely amazing. The atmosphere was great. Service was incredible!!! We got there early and had some amazing drinks at the bar while we waited for our table. The food was out of this world!!! Oysters were delicious, crab was so good, and the halibut with the curry sauce was brilliant!!! Hats off to the staff and chefs. Will 💯 be back again! Thanks again for an amazing dinner!

Yelp
The Jax peel and eat shrimp in Fort Collins is deveined and the top of the shell is split. I hope you'll connect with them and consider doing yours this way. It's 100 times better. Oysters are great at both locations. Edit - thank you for taking the time to respond and correct!

Yelp
Good street scene, food and terrific hospitality. Waiter took care of our party of 3 and our two dogs. Quintessential Pearl St. Shared the mussels and a burger with my wife. Shared peel and eat shrimp. All very good.

Yelp
Who says you can't sell out the house on a Monday night on Pearl? Just offer all night Happy Hour and the best seafood in Boulder since 1994. Add a terrific staff and all over friendliness. And warm on a cold night. Thanks for the possibilities. Check out the menus and don't miss the key lime brûlée. Yum.

Yelp
The Jax all Monday night happy hour caught my attention recently on a work trip to Boulder. The reviews weren't off the charts but I decided to give it a shot. The menu was very small but great choices for a quick bite to eat and relax. The restaurant was very crowded and I would recommend making a reservation as the space is quite small. The staff was friendly and offered me a seat at the bar given the crowd. I sat at the bar and ordered an icy cold local Mexican lager. It was good and paired well with my order of peel and eat shrimp and fries. The peel and eat shrimp were cooked well and served with old bay seasoning on top with a side of ketchup with fresh horseradish. The mustard sauce was also really good. My fries were outstanding! Hot and crispy! If here again, I definitely would come back for the seafood and the Monday night happy hour!

Yelp
The food was the best part. The drinks were also excellent. I will be happy to go back but when I do, I want a table inside. Pearl Street fine dining on the edge of the sidewalk is not preferred for this type of meal. The server was peculiar but I'm sure there are several others here who are excellent.

Yelp
It has been awhile since I requested Jax but my return prompted a flood of memories! The food is truly exceptional. There were 4 in our party celebrating a birthday and everyone enjoyed their meals and appetizers. We feasted on the mussels and crab dip for appetizers and the group ordered the crab cake, chowder, blue crab pasta and the evening special. Everything was truly exceptional in its presentation and taste. Of course, drinks and wine were superb! Truly a very special dining experience. I know that I have to return soon.

Yelp
Food was amazing! We got river, west, and east coast oysters. They were very fresh, along with the chilled shrimp. Chowder was alright. Half portion wasn't enough broth, it was very thick. Drinks were delicious. Service was great (we sat at the bar). Ambiance is great for date night or business meeting. Will be back sometime soon!

Yelp
I came here for the $2 Happy Hour Crackerjax Oysters on April 15th! I came before the doors opened for business. I waited alongside a few others. I didn't realize that when the doors opened, people would just storm in! I was the third in line outside and once inside, I was still waiting at the host/hostess stand while everyone else had been seated by the hostess (for the restaurant) or seated themselves (for the bar). I had no idea how this worked. Crazy! I ended up at the end of the bar nearest the dining room. After the chaos, I took a long look at the menus. I decided on the Oysters, Gumbo, & Lemonade. The Crackerjax Oysters were delicious, especially with that stuff in the jar! It's so pretty and is a great addition to the oysters! I really enjoyed these oysters! I also got a cup of the Gumbo. The broth is darker than the Gumbo I've had before. It was a teeny bit too salty, but I washed it down with the Strawberry Lemonade. For dessert, I chose the Brûléed Key Lime Tart. Can't say I've ever had a Key Lime Tart Brûléed before! It was very good! I would return for more oysters! Maybe even try a fish dish!

Yelp
Although there was a good rating I just don't associate seafood with Boulder, CO. However after meeting a couple that raved about it we gave it a shot. Top five meal of my life. The peppercorn ahi tuna was phenomenal, the calamari off the charts, the bread, the chocolate cake! You're missing out if you don't come here! McKenna is an awesome waitress so ask for her!

Yelp
The food is amazing! I came during happy hour and it was pretty cheap for amazing food! Always make a reservation because this location is small and it gets packed! Very cute and cozy inside.

Yelp
Was recommended this place from my uber driver. Sat down at the bar and had a wonderful meal. The staff behind the bar was super friendly and helpful in recommending the catfish. They also made a fantastic martini! Definitely coming back the next time I'm in town.

Jacqueline B.

Yelp
Do they skimp on Happy Hour offerings? The Oyster shooter had only a 1/2 oyster in it, and the Ahi Tuna was supposed to be 3 layers of: tuna + wasabi avocado + wonton crisps. It turned out to be an overpowering sting-your-nose baby food mash of wasabi, wasabi, wasabi w/ some bland avocado and perhaps some minced tuna? 4 months ago, a (Google) reviewer mentioned: "the tuna was way overspiced and you couldn't taste the tuna, etc. " The gumbo was good, though not exceptional. Also, snootier than it was some years ago, with steep prices to match. Disappointed.

Yelp
There's no fishing for compliments here... Jax Fish House is: 1. The place for high quality seafood. You'll be able to find a wide selection oysters, shrimp, crab, lobster, caviar and fish. We dove into the oysters like it was our Last Supper choosing a half a dozen from the East and West Coasts. It was so fun to taste the differences and similarities in them. The show stoppers were definitely the ones from Alaska! 2. The place for a romantic date or a dinner with a seafood loving bud. It's a unique and fun atmosphere that transports you out of Colorado. I cannot explain it. 3. The place for any drink you are craving. Now, maybe most people would not comment on this but I was shocked by how extensive their beverage list was (white wines, red wines, cocktails, beers, after dinner wines, after dinner cocktails). Plus, I really appreciated how they supported local breweries while having mainstream beers ready and available. I got to have my favorite beer from a small brewery in Lafayette, CO called Odd13. Delicious! 4. The place for HAPPY HOUR! With a happy hour from 3:30pm - 5:00pm, this is where you and your spouse need to go after work. There is no shame in having your babysitter stay alil' later and treating yourselves to a cool n' fun adult happy hour. We're talking oysters $2, a half pound of peel n' eat shrimp $10, a pound of steamed mussels $13, cocktails $5 - $7 and much more. The menu is available on their website with prices! Check it out. 5. The place you need to try ASAP!

Yelp
My husband loves oysters so we stopped in for their happy hour selection. We had drinks and he had a few oysters while we sat at the bar. Fast forward 36hrs and my husband has been violently ill with food poisoning all day. Guess we learned a valuable lesson about eating seafood in a landlocked state

Yelp
4.5 Stars. Really swank restaurant in DT Boulder. They are good at serving great seafood dishes. We had a party of four dining on 2 orders of Tuna, Cat Fish, Caesar salad and Barramundi. Started with the chargrilled oysters- Really Really delicious. I could drink the sauce. I loved the baked grits that came out like little blocks with beautiful browning on top Wine selection was very good and the waitstaff very professional. The restaurant is expensive but priced fair for the quality of food and service. Nice vibe. Good price/value relationship. Make reservations, this is a popular restaurant for obvious reasons.

Yelp
Good food, however our waiter took our food before we finished without asking. Tried to wave for him but he did not come back. Disappointed and not satisfied.

Dylan R.

Yelp
Popped in for happy hour, we ordered the VA oysters, self peel shrimp, and Connecticut style lobster roll. The oysters and shrimp were perfect. On such a hot day, the chilled oysters and shrimp were refreshing and delicious. After seeing mixed reviews on the lobster roll I was a little nervous to order it, but I rolled the dice and couldn't be happier with the outcome. I ordered mine Connecticut style and the roll came out perfectly warm with a satisfying portion of lobster and the warm melted butter coat couldn't have been done better. This roll genuinely took me back to lobster rolls i had in Maine. In one word, it was sensational. Fries were good too. Katie, our server, was fantastic. Very friendly, helpful, delightful, offered good information and quick service. That shit was fire

Yelp
Yes this place lives up to the hype. What's great option for fresh, delicious seafood in boulder. Service was great and food was on point. We got the hook platter. Oysters and shrimp were amazing. The crab was good but a pain to eat. Next time will go for just shrimp and oysters which is actually a cheaper option. We split lobster roll and barramundi. Was nervous about ordering lobster roll because of some negative reviews I read here but really glad we ordered it. It was amazing. Fries were great as well. The barramundi was cooked perfectly and paired well with some vegetable ragout and some grits cake that was divine. Finished with a little chocolate sorbet which was also great. HaD a great hazy ipa as well.

Yelp
I won't be returning to this place again. At my last visit, I got stomach sick after having oysters, shrimp and some drinks. I will pass you the details of my day of bathroom misery, but I suspect it came from uncooked seafood. Other than food, the place was loud, which I don't particularly like. Service was all right.
google avatar

Yelp
If anyone raves about Jax Fish House & Oysters it is very apparent that they have never had superb seafood before in their lives. Food quality and taste do not warrant such a high price.

Yelp
From a very recent visit and not our first but will be our last here is my educated and experienced in both dining and high end restaurant ownership... Let's start at the beginning .. How do restaurant groups keep hiring the hostess? It's mind boggling. From the "brasserie1010-Med-V Perla" group to this one. If you know her, I've heard her be so friendly and warm but if youre the average joe reservation, she's the most unfriendly, frowning, one word answer, smug hosts I've ever encountered. And that's our first impression for a night where no offense $49 for Ahi tuna in a land locked state? The place is small I get it, But I'll be damned if our chair wasn't knocked into 10 times and I got to hear the waitstaff's conversation, always something I want to do at a celebratory dinner. Not so much. The server was oddly inexperienced and her shirt was so wrinkled. She didn't have a clue -nice girl but I've always had such seasoned professionals at Jax that it was a bit off for me. Food was ok. Not worth the hefty price tag. Attentive yet aloof staff. Most seem to have a too cool for school attitude. I don't know what the talk is about this place, I find it always (but never again, can't blame a gal for trying) just meh. But that hostess, wow, she's a 0 star. Every restaurant every time over many years. Always a zero. Get someone nice

Yelp
What a lovely evening in Boulder first of all the service is unparalleled from the moment we went in to our last goodbye everyone made it a point to make us feel welcome and special. Their menu is amazing beginning with oyster selections And drinks. We ordered shrimp spaghettini, salmon, seafood clam chowder and salad wow! Thanks Jax house for a lovely dining experience.

Yelp
Jax Fish House, oh my god, you do not want to miss this restaurant when visiting Colorado/Denver. There's more than one restaurant and we went to the one in Boulder, but they have one in Denver too. I would say the one in Boulder has a nicer ambience due to the interior decor. The wait can be long, so go early! They have excellent service. We ordered the following: FRESH OYSTERS: (5/5) I liked how they had a variety of oysters from both the east and the west. Although they are priced per half dozen, you can actually order these per piece. The price is just the listed price divided by 6. We got the Emersum, Kumamoto, and Shigoku. As expected, the Kumamoto is the best, but the Emersum really exceeded my expectations. I would recommend giving that one a try too! LOBSTER MAC AND CHEESE: (6/5) GET THIS! You get a lot of lobster and it is cooked perfectly. GRILLED NORWEGIAN SALMON: (5/5) This was really good. I got it cooked medium rare and I like how the inside was still a little pink. SEAFOOD CHOWDER: (3.5/5) I like that it arrived hot and there was a lot of goodies inside, but it had a weird alcohol flavor. FRIED TOWN DOCK CALAMARI: (10/5) OMG GET THIS! I often order fried calamari and I admit that I found that their calamari looked a bit weird, but this is the BEST calamari dish I've ever had! Do not judge the book by its cover! The breading is just the right amount and you get to actually taste how fresh their calamari is. The aioli sauce complemented their calamari well too. At the end of my meal, I found myself wanting to get another portion of it to go. I really enjoyed the whole dining experience and I will definitely go back again to get their fresh oysters, fried calamari, and lobster mac and cheese! We literally wanted to go back again next day! It was that good!

Yelp
#1 favorite restaurant in Boulder. In my opinion this is the best seafood in Boulder/Denver. They fly in their oysters daily. And everything on the menu is great. The atmosphere is goos for a date, dinner with friends, or celebrating a special occasion! Definitely check it out.

Yelp
I've been in this place twice now, with a gift certificate that was given to me on my birthday. Both times it was pretty busy and Lively but clearly understaffed. Both times I was shuffled over to the bar where I was completely ignored for 20 minutes before I left, even if the bartender had noticed me he seem to be having a really bad time this evening and was pretty angry and I wouldn't want this person serving me my food anyway. Everything looked like it was delicious but no one ever showed me a menu.

Yelp
This place was our favorite meal during our trip to Colorado. We spent a long day in Rocky Mountain National Park and dropped by here on our way to Denver. Street parking was easy to find and free after 6pm. Our first time in Boulder and we loved the ambiance of the downtown area. We were seated immediately outside, they also had indoor seating as well. We were surprised that there were plenty of seating available 730pm on Labor day. Our waiter was super friendly and helpful - he truly made us feel welcome, hence the 5 star review for this place. We were hungry so we got the hook bar platter which came with half dozen raw oysters, half pound shrimp, and snow crab legs. Also got the blackened catfish entree, side of fries and half dozen of raw oysters (forgot which one we got). I also tried the Manhattan which was really good! There were plenty of foods for us two hungry folks. The seafood tasted fresh and delicious. The french fries were also good, hit the spot. The blackened catfish came with collared greens and hush puppies in some tomato sauce. The collared greens were our favorite! Tasted so good with the tomato sauce. The blackened catfish was crispy and well seasoned on the outside. The hush puppies were also good, loved soaking it in the sauce. We were way too stuffed but killed everything. Overall a fantastic meal with fresh seafood and delicious foods. We would love to come back here on our next trip to Colorado!

Yelp
Calamari - very tender Mussels- plump and great Oysters- fresh Service during happy hour- easy, kind, and efficient Highly recommend! Seafood fresh! I would def return if I'm back in town! :)

Yelp
I enjoyed my dinner here immensely. The oysters were fabulous and my meal was amazing. The bartender with beautiful, friendly and great at her job. The ambiance in this place is fun and inviting. My only complaint was how much grief I got for not having a reservation. I was asked three times if I had a reservation and each time the response to my "no" got more indignant. Finally, my girlfriend and I were offered chairs at the bar. The place was basically empty and reservations seemed unnecessary.
google avatar

Shannon Y.

Yelp
Dining outside having a good meal was just what I needed. Loved the oysters. Fresh! The peel n shrimp was so good. They have a little seasoning on them. The sauce they put on the plate was so good for dipping. I would probably not get the snow crab again and just go with the king crab. Generous portion though for $55. Can't wait to return.
google avatar

Allison Y.

Yelp
Yum! Ordered the seafood chowder and it was really delicious. Also a high note was the crab cake. The husband ordered the salmon and it was cooked medium perfectly. We ate at the bar, (first come first serve), since all the reservations were taken on a Saturday night. It was really the best seat in the house! Freshest fish/crustaceans/mollusks in Colorado!
google avatar

John R.

Yelp
Going out to eat isn't what it used to be. We've all come to expect smaller portions and higher prices. So like most , I've been more selective where I spend hard earned dollars. Jax is my new favorite restaurant in Boulder. They check all the boxes ... Pro service , inventive cuisine and decent size portions. I used to work in the seafood biz so I know the diff between fresh and frozen calamari If you like this sort of thing it's a must try at Jax. Collard greens and cornbread ... are you kidding me? We're talking soulful and cuisine with depth. I'll be back Jack!
google avatar

Jorge A M.

Yelp
Lobster pasta so great, grilled oysters fantastic. We are service always good. They had my Lefthand stout so i was happier
google avatar

Tu-Quyen P.

Yelp
Excellent service, fresh seafood, fun vibe and it is busy for a reason, so make reservations unless you want to try waiting for a seat at the bar. They have an excellent raw bar, very quick service, and a wide menu. Their best is their peel n eat shrimp which is a nice deal for this area, 1/2 lb for $12 and comes with cocktail sauce and a creamy mustard/Mayo sauce as well. Messy, but so worth it! Also to amp it up, I'd ask for chimichurri on the side to dip the shrimp. The other dishes were good, especially the octopus which was a huge portion, but I found the Copp's Island oysters bland and I prefer much brinier, flavorful oysters. I'd also skip the butterscotch dessert. Glad I found this spot!

Yelp
I am truly grateful to have stumbled upon this restaurant. Wow, it was amazing. I ended up having 5 courses. With seafood, it's not hard to, particularly for someone from coastal Croatia and Australia. I started with a 1/2 dozen WA oysters. (Not Western Australia, apparently .) But bloody he'll, not too bad at all. I continued with amazing octopus. Then, I really wanted to try the mussels, as someone or thing, that appreciates them, and wow. Brilliant. Then, i had the scallops. for the entree or main. Greatness in taste. I finished it with a crazily delicious blueberry cake. I am amazed by the whole experience. This is a genuine review. See pics.

Lara R.

Yelp
The scallops were rubbery and served with weird, too-sweet (squash?) accompaniments. The "shrimp cocktail" consisted of hunks of less-than-great shrimp mixed with some gross tomato sauce and overpowering garlic. Had to find my own fork at one point as the server didn't replace the one he had taken after the first course, even after I asked him for one. WTH?

Katie C.

Yelp
Great service, expansive menu with celiac awareness. Great oyster selection and a wonderful happy hour!

Martha C.

Yelp
The service is not good. As a first time customer I noted the wait staff was not interested in explaining or elaborating on anything on the menu let alone refilling water or taking away full plates. Wait staff needed to be flagged down every time. They may have been too busy bussing tables to fully invest their customers needs. The prices are pretty high and the food is decent. Ambiance is tiny and it's close quarters. Won't be returning.

Niki R.

Yelp
Great place with a variety of fish and seafood! Love their oysters and it's great sitting at the bar!

Ariana O.

Yelp
Jordan was amazing! All of the team is great, we didn't like to hush puppies and she took care of it right away. Oysters and wine is excellent.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Love you guys!!! Great staff! Wonderful wonderful menu and food! Please switch your calamari recipe to what is was before ... the new recipe is not nearly as good as the award winning one. STILL LOVE YA DAVE Q!! (why did you change it?)
google avatar

Heather B.

Yelp
The menu is limited but food was amazing! If you are an oyster lover they are out of this world. Everyone at the table enjoyed the attentive service and the delicious selection of fresh gourmet dishes offered.

Ronnie S.

Yelp
So this was nice. I made a reservation for our wedding anniversary a month ago. Showed up and found it's closed for renovations. This issue is that it says it's still open on Yelp and has no notice on their website about closing so anyways thanks for messing up our anniversary dinner and enjoy your one star. Don't really care if their was good but this place sucks at management

Jacquelyn Z.

Yelp
I wish I could give this location more stars because the one in Denver is awesome. My parents were visiting my wife and I from out of town and we usually go to The Kitchen or Oak but they wanted to try some seafood. Since I've had other good experiences at the Jax's in Denver I suggested we go here. The restaurant wasn't too crowded and we were seated inside right away. A nice waiter came over and took our drink and appetizer order pretty quickly. We were brought some waters but nothing else - no silverware , no napkins, no plates for our apps. When appetizers came out the waitress set them down and walked away quickly...again leaving us without plates, utensils, or napkins. Our waiter was nowhere to be found so we had to get up ourselves and track down some utensils and napkins. Our drinks sat at the bar for a good 10 minutes until I flagged down a different waitress and she brought them over. When we finished our appetizers we saw our waiter hanging at the bar with another one of the service staff looking at a video on a phone or something as they laughed for a while. He hadn't even stopped by to check and see if we enjoyed our drinks or appetizers. When he finally did come over to take our main course orders, we had already finished our appetizers 15 minutes prior and now had to wait the additional time it takes to prepare entrees before our food came out. There was at least 30 minutes between appetizers and entrees. Our fish entrées were really good (as expected from an upscale seafood restaurant). My wife ordered a second drink once our main courses were dropped but it never came out. I am bummed the service and timing was so poor because I really wanted to get the butterscotch pudding (it's so tasty!) but didn't wanna risk spending another 35 minutes waiting there for it to come out. I understand that COVID has taken a toll on some restaurants but when you're not very busy and your staff has enough time to stand the bar and be on their phones scrolling through Instagram or texting I would expect the service to be halfway decent. I don't think this is high maintenance or privileged especially when there are PLENTY of great restaurants in Boulder for half the price of this place. Food was good but as a young professional I work very hard for my money and when I'm paying that much for a meal I expect good service as well (as provided by many of the other upscale Boulder restaurants). Total for the 4 of us with 2 appetizers, 4 drinks, and 4 entrees + 20% tip was over $300. Definitely would not be my first choice for an expensive meal in the Boulder area.

Yelp
Lesson learned: seafood in landlocked cities can be amazing! 4.5 stars and rounded up. Notable highlights: Terrific friendly service, delicious fresh seafood, great drink signature options, open late on weekends! Came to meet up with friends late-ish around 9:45 on a Saturday night in June. Due to covid they had an outdoor canopied seating area in the middle of the street (like many restaurants in the area) that they were trying to clear out tables for the evening, but the couple tables directly outside their storefront as well as seats inside the restaurant were still available. We sat here and the staff came up quickly with menus and friendly greetings. We ordered the Hook $55 one of the cold raw platters with 1/2 lb peel n eat shrimp, 6 oysters and 1/2 lb snow crab legs, fried town dock calamari $12, 1/2 dozen chargrilled oysters $22, a bowl of crawfish and andouille sausage gumbo $7, a side of pork belly collards $5, and a few drinks--a Jax G&T $12, a grapefruit honey tonic mocktail $6, and a off-dry Apple cider from Stem Ciders $6. For three people this second dinner around 10:15pm was probably a bit overboard but hey, it was second dinner ;) I would recommend every item except the chargrilled oysters--the flavor was ok, but one of the oysters had some pieces of shell in it which wasn't edible. Everything else was hand-down terrific! The calamari was plentiful and wonderfully tender and bouncy in texture, the seafood platter was fresh and the shrimp wonderful seasoned with spices, and I loved the vinegar and horseradish sauce that accompanied the oysters. The collards and gumbo could have been a meal for one person by themselves, both tasty and with a Cajun twang. The G&T and mocktail were well-mixed and balanced. The friendly and knowledgeable staff were easy to interact with, and checked in often. What a treat!

Yelp
It's so hard to trust seafood in Colorado, but if you want good seafood that is safe this is the place for sure. Bit old style menu but hey it seems to work for them.

Yelp
Solid all around. Great service and fantastic food. Appetizers were great and main dishes were excellent. Interior is a little crowded but not loud, which was nice. It's my third time here and each time is worth it. IMO one of the better restaurants in Boulder. Recommend and will be back.

Yelp
We have loved Jax as our "special occasion" go-to for over 20 years. However, my last two experiences there have been so disappointing. The food is inconsistent- the first time the mussels were great but the tater tots that came with the salmon were inedible. Tonight, there was nothing wrong with the food but it was just meh. For $100 per person (and based on my prior experiences) I expected better. But the worst part was the service. They had a packed house for Valentine's Day and could not keep up. We waited 45 minutes between our appetizer and salad courses. Unacceptable. The pacing of the drink and food pairing was all off too. Fine dining requires that the whole experience aligns with the pricing. Boo. Do better, Jax.
