Jazz coffee.
Even if you don't know what jazz is, the music here is enchanting and for our breakfast the saxophonist/wind musician was so good. Peaceful, in the background and songs you will know for the boomers reading this. The ambiance was so soothing and traditional. Sipping coffee, hot chocolate or babying your fresh juice sin sucre and taking in the smells of the open kitchen and the jazz, what could be more enjoyable?
The bathrooms were immaculate and the architecture and the quality of the toilets was top of the line. Make sure you stop in.
Water tank with purified fresh water in the kitchen at the server table.
Dishes were so classy and they served hot chocolate in clay bowls. Attention to detail here can be seen, heard, smelled and tasted at every turn. A pleasant assault on the senses.
Mollettas and enmoladas were our choice, but it was a close call between that and the bagel lox and cream cheese, but when in Mexico! Also if you are impatient, wait till you are on Mexico time and then visit.
Food was outstanding and well worth the wait. It was our first time trying both the maletas and enmoladas. The milletta's were wonderful with a dark brown rich slightly sweet mole. The enmoladas con sausage we're also great. The bread so soft yet delicate and the sausage was perfect. Neither one of these was overly picante or burning hot to the mouth. The salsa that they provided was like nothing I have ever had before. It seemed to have a sesame seed base which was which toasty and nutty. It was pretty hot but it didn't matter to me because it tasted so good, I was able to deal with the heat. On top of the enmoladas I put the fresh onions and tomato and then loaded up on the salsa with sesame seeds.
Just an amazing breakfast. They took Amex but wanted the tip in cash. I was told the musician was hired and paid for by the restaurant and I was not too tip him.
One last point. They have an automatic roof over the courtyard. How amazing is that? I thought you only found this in billion dollar stadiums, and they opened and closed it during our breakfast.
