We are headed home from our cruise and wanted a great lunch to cap off our trip. Jazzy Pete's didn't disappoint.
First of all, this place is spotless and the decor is NOLA inspired. When the front of the house is clean, I have confidence in the back of the house.
I had no sightings of "Jazzy Pete", but I can only assume that he was in the kitchen frying our delicious shrimp!
Secondly, the food was amazing. Unless you have participated in competitive eating, the 7" poboy is plenty! The shrimp are lightly battered and fried perfectly. The bread is soft where it's supposed to be and has a slight crunch on the outside.
The onion rings are authentic and plentiful. You know when you can look at fried food and just know how old the oil is that they are using? I think they poured this oil this morning.
The salad was fresh and loaded with large butterflied shrimp and dressed with homemade ranch dressing.
The gumbo was delicious and was my favorite combo, chicken and sausage. Not too spicy, but a nice happy medium.
Finally, even though our server was running around with her feet on fire, she was still attentive and sweet. She was the only waitress until noon and the place filled up rapidly. I didn't catch her name (possibly Pam), but she had short, white hair and a pep in her step! Jazzy Pete should give her a raise!
They are taking applications for servers, so somebody go help this lady out!!
Five minutes off of 1-10, exit 266 in Slidell.
