Shopping in the store is great. The clerks are nice and very helpful. They have a good clothing section, but housewares and linens need more offerings. Curbside pickup is hit or miss. You're better off going into the store for pickup. Overall, not bad but the Modesto store has a better selection.

Adrienne (the manager that goes by church) was so solution-minded and went above and beyond to help! Lynette and Donna were very welcoming, helpful, and patient as they worked together to help me obtain the balance from an old gift card. Excellent customer service all around — truly appreciated! Customer service is really hard to find in today’s time and when you find people who care to make a difference they definitely deserve recognition!!

Beautiful well stocked store. I bought a comforter & a quilt, choosing from a huge selection, most of which were on sale. Then the checkout clerk found a coupon online so the price was even lower. I have bought bedding in the past at Ross, but their selection has plummeted. Now realize I can get similar goods with a bigger selection, lower price, pleasant shopping experience, and knowledgeable sales clerks at JC Penny! I was really impressed with this store in Manteca CA.

We arrived just as the store was closing, she welcomed us with a smile and offered to help without any sign of being rushed. Not only did she assist me patiently, she took the time to have a genuinely kind and engaging conversation. I had a disappointing experience at JCPenney recently. I returned a merchandise item in-store, but I still haven’t received my refund. The associate at the counter confirmed the return and said the amount would be credited back to my account, but it’s been several days and nothing has shown up. I tried contacting customer service, and unfortunately there was no real help. I was moved between departments with no clear answer on where my refund is or when I will receive it. It’s frustrating to return something properly and then be left waiting without communication. I expected better transparency and customer support from a store like JCPenney.

I called the store prior to coming here and told them that I bought a necklace from another store and it’s was an x amount, and I wanted to return it here. They told me yes I can. Then when I got here I waited 20 min for Maria the manager to arrive. She told e no and I have to go back to Modesto. I informed her that Modesto JCPenney said I can return it at any JCPenney and there would be no issues. She said no it is commitment based and I have to go back. It felt like Maria was lying and she didn’t want to do the return just because they will be negative in sales. Now you will have a negative review for your store. This store is closer to home that why I went here but it is bad service.

My husband bought me a necklace as a gift. Unfortunately the chain was broken. Went in to exchange the chain. Per their policy no exchanges and repairs are only done if you purchase a protection policy. If no protection policy you're required to pay for the repair. If it's broken out of the box it shouldn't be a hassle for an exchange or be charged for repairs. If you're seeking quality products and customer service then I'd advise against JC Penney. Discouraged longtime customer.

Staffs are always helpful! Curbside pickups are quick and never had problems!

I just experienced the best customer service of my life from a customer service representative named Lynette! I was looking for a birthday gift and she helped me pick out the most elegant looking outfit ever. I have only had the privilege of receiving this level of styling assistance from the likes of nordstrom at a much higher price point. If you ever need assistance at JC penny I recommend you ask for Lynette in the women's clothing section.

I went to cashier there was 1 customer ahead of me, so she sends me to cosmetic dept and says no customer there you will be attended fast. So I go over there and the cashier there give me a min let me help customer over there I said ok then cashier comes back then another customer comes up to the counter and says that she's here to pick up something that she spoke to someone yesterday so that customer gets helped before me and I was there first. I was sent to different spots to for cashier. I left my purchase on top of counter and walked away! Awful customer service

Andrea was incredible! I went in today tired not feeling well and how I watched her interact with her staff and the customer wow! AMAZING, PERSONABLE, and she encourage and share so much positivity to her staff! This type of service is rare she definitely deserves KUDOS!

They charge tax on shipping fees! I was not knowingly informed unless it was buried in the fine print which i need magnifying glass to read

JcPenny has really gone Down hill. Their fashion is really bad, prices are OUTRAGEOUS AND their employees are non-existent and the ones that you can find after looking for a long time don't know anything. This one young girl pleaded with me not to call her manager because she didn't want to get in trouble. All I wanted was someone to answer a question. I just don't know why she didn't look it up on her phone? Help these days...

This review is for Cathy in the fine jewelry department. My husband and I went in Saturday afternoon because I was looking for a red pendant necklace for my Christmas Party outfit. Cathy came right up to help us and she was so nice. We bounced around a couple of displays and she never got frustrated with us. She was so helpful, answered all of our questions and showed us a few different options until I picked the one that I liked. This weekend they were having some great dales for the holidays so I bought the pendant and a different chain as I wanted it to hang longer. Thank you Cathy for your kind words, great customer service, big smile (thru your mask) and I love our name connection! If you need jewelry please go see Cathy!

Jennifer in the photo department is incredible! My sisters and I went in to do a photo shoot for our mom for mother's day and Jennifer made the experience so fun! We had such a good time and you can see it in the pictures! I would highly recommend jcpenny portraits especially if Jennifer is behind the camera!

Very bad customer service they don't price match when all jc pennys I went to price matched and apparently you need the jcpenny cardholder with you to use it and a id when no other jc penny does this and no online price match is crazy just bs (take the trip and go to Modesto or Stockton one it'll be worth it)

JCPenney is JCPenney, generally nothing unique, or special about it. However this particular store is probably my favorite JCP location. I've found this store to be well organized, well stocked, and clean. I'm the kind of person who usually has a pretty good idea of what I'm looking for, and I often find it here. I seldom leave without finding something on my list. The sales staff here seemly strikes that perfect balance of being helpful without being pushy. I will be back.

Won't return my dress that doesn't fit right because I lost my receipt. Tag still attached for $40 but they'll only give me $8.00. Just cut up my credit card.

I went yesterday and had my hair cut here and I was really unsure if I wanted it done honestly I was scared to get it cut I had a horrible experience the last place I went but as soon as I went into the salon area my hair styles was ready for me shuck my hand and induced herself her name is Brittany I wish I could give this review 10 stars cause shes amazing she was so friendly and just all around nice everyone there seemed that way I highly recommend going to their salon

Cathy in the Jewelry Department is extremely curt and unpleasant. I was just there. It was not busy. There were 3 groups total shopping in the jewelry department. She kept taking people ahead of me, even though she saw me waiting and I had even asked for assistance, so she knew I was there. Then when she finally "helped" me, she stayed mostly silent, was in a HUGE rush and didn't explain anything to me about what was going to happen with the item I was having repaired. I was so mad, I NEVER ask to speak to a manager, but I did. Luckily the very nice manager took the time to explain what the process would be for my item that was being repaired. Glad someone was able to do Cathy's job for her, since she clearly is not in the mood to do it herself today!

The store was really clean, organized and well stocked. The women's clothing selection is very nice and modern, it's the nicest place to shop for clothing in town overall. Mostly everything was priced with a few exceptions in the toy section. Knocked off one star because the sales associate did not ask for my rewards number and the dress I was about to buy rang up as full price instead of the sale price listed. I thought the associate would have adjusted the price since it was advertised as so, but nope lol. I'll buy it when it goes on sale next week (Everything eventually does, even the new items.)

I love JCPENNEY, just not this store. I've purchased fine jewelry for 25 years at many JCPENNEY stores. I've had them sized, resized, cleaned, and stones replaced. With my last purchase I should've gone with my gut. I loved the ring however I didn't like the way the prongs were set. I should've walked away. The clerk assured me that if I purchased it and decided I didn't like it, I had 15 days to return it. When I took it back 4 days later I was told I couldn't return fine jewelry. Apparently they need better trained staff. Needless to say I will never shop at this location for jewelry again.

Ashleen was extremely rude while she was charging us. Right away she had an attitude. After asking her if she had submitted my reward she responded with attitude and sarcasm saying, "did I ask you for your number" after replying "no" she responded "then I didn't". Very unprofessional! She was not wearing her mask properly and had it under her nose. She did not disinfect the area after the previous customers paid.

The company did a really good job with the new look. I went looking for a microwave oven and a kitchen cart for it. When I was floundering a bit with their separated layout, someone came to help me. I told her what I wanted and she said that they didn't have any furniture of any kind. I've seen smaller town stores with kitchen carts (and WiFi) that look 30 years old. She offered to show me what they had in the catalog, which also didn't amount to much. Sadly, I gave up on the cart, and she showed me the microwave ovens, which were all junk--Magic Chef and Cuisinart. Things were better in clothing, but I really didn't need those as much as a way to reheat food. What, I can rub two shirts against the frozen package to heat it? U.S. retail, we need to talk.

I made an online order for 3 pairs of jeans but when I picked them up, they weren't the ones I actually thought I bought. I couldn't tell the difference between Skinny jeans and whatever the heck I bought. I tried to find the one I wanted on the floor and only found one pair. Associate 0066 went above and beyond for me (Sorry, I didn't get her name). She told me that she could order me 2 of the ones I actually wanted online and give me the same discount I used on my original online order. She was very patient and treated me with the utmost customer service even when I told her that I didn't want to take up her time because there was a line forming behind me. She told me that I had waited and it was my turn to be served. That gesture alone made me feel really welcome and that I wasn't a burden to her. It meant a lot to me. By the end of it all, I had a new pair of jeans, two more on the way, and all with the discount. Thank you very much for everything!

Why don't they have 49er gear... they had absolutely ZERO ... and it's playoff time! I see why they are going out if business... bad managers

Worst online order pickup experience ever. I waited for 15 minutes in my car for curbside pickup and than went inside. I than waited for another 20 minutes inside waiting for a associate to bring out my package at the counter. . What a inconvenience of my time.

This place has everything a department store provides, but for a slightly lower price. They have good brand name products. I go there frequently to shop particularly for work clothes, dockers, polos, shoes, etc... They have a good sale every now and then. The store is kept fairly organized but, can do better as far as restocking and having more size selections for dockers.

Horrible customer service, showed me a ring that was priced $924, put down my credit card and then told me it was the wrong ring. The clerk could not find the ring for the sales price, said they had to talk to the Jewelry manager and would call me. The clerk called me and ask if Dena had called, I said no. I called today and explained what happened to Dena, she would credit me $100, for my inconvenience. Sorry but I will not shop at J C Penny.

Great experience! The JCPENNEY store in Manteca is a very nice store, clean and well organized. My wife and I were shopping there this weekend. We were shopping in the jewelry department and we had a wonderful experience. We were assisted by Gwen, who is just the ultimate professional, with great attention to detail, customer care and satisfaction. Gwen could not have been more pleasant or helpful on our visit. We will definitely be shopping here again. If you are searching for fine jewelry and a nice selection, I highly recommend shopping at the Manteca JCP with Gwen as your associate.

I was absolutely satisfied with my purchases and with the way the assistant manager ..jeannie/joannie handled her staff and with the service they displayed..they made my visit very satifiying and very pleasant right from the start...very helpful and respectful to me and the rest of my family..well Done guys ..keep up the good work ladies....thank you .

Let me start off this review by saying the staff was very pleasant. I was mostly shocked with the organization of the overall store more specifically the Men's shoe department. It was a mess! As a result of the disarray it was very difficult to find the shoe type and size easily. I can kind of understand if my visit was late at night and this was a result of people just making a mess however I found it this way at 9:00AM. This tells me that they need some work around organization and management.

I came in today to pick up an order and I understand sometimes you need to wait because it's retail I get that. But when there's 3-4+ people waiting 10-15 minutes in line and you're the only one at the register either A. Pick up your pace and move a little faster or B. Call for help. Don't just take you're sweet time and watch the line grow. There's hardly any customers in the store anyways so there should be people available to help out. Also one employee looked at the line and walked away like come on people get it together.

I absolutely must update my review for JCP Salon...I went back ! I know that's hard to believe , but I did and I'm so happy I did. I have one name for you to remember before you go here , RACHEL !!! Rachel is really good at color , she is awesome !!

PORTRAIT STUDIO WOWOWOWOW!!!! I'm so impressed. If you haven't been here then I definitely recommend it! Danielle, the manager is absolutely awesome! I had a bad experience at the last place we took pictures in the mall. I have little ones, 2 and 3.5 and wanted to do family pictures this time for the holidays. Danielle was just amazing, she took the pictures quickly, we have SEVERAL keepers which is awesome. Instead of struggling to like one picture I had many choices to choose from with my family pictures, with the individuals of my kids and with the one of my 3 together. I am so thankful to her and will definitely be back to JCP and to Danielle specifically!

I saw the sign off 120 that said "sephora inside" and had to stop! We've been without a Sephora store since we moved from the Bay Area and I miss it tremendously. This JC Penney just opened in March so of course it's still shiny & new. The Sephora is not nearly as big as a regular store but more like a mini-Sephora. They still had all of the basics and the kids & I stocked up. Everything else was very clean & neat. We looked around and kept saying "wow...this store is so much better than the one in Stockton". Manteca is only 10 minutes from our house so we will definitely be back!! Love it!

I am not expecting too much walking to this store after many years. Read a lot of reviews that JC penny is going down. I was surprised that this store is very lively and has Sephora inside. Intended to go to Sears outlet to check out Washer and Dryer but it was traffic. Long story short, we're glad that we ended up here. We were asked if we needed any help by a young lady at the appliance department. We were still browsing and didn't need any help. After few minutes my husband and I decided to buy Samsung W/D. It was Trent who helped us. He answered all our questions. We were out the store in no time. Fast and pleasant. experience.

This review is based off my experience with the Sephora employees inside of this location. I called in to ask if they had a certain item in stock and if it was priced the same as the online promotion. The woman that answered my call and asked me to hold. She left me on hold long enough for the phone to ring again. She answered and I explained again what I was calling for. She then told me her line in store was long and to hold again. Since my fiance and I were on our way out he told me to hang up and we could just stop by there to check in person since my phone call was getting me no where. We get to the store and the only two women working were very busy. There was one at the register with a long line and one at the mirrors where the associates take you to do color matching and what not with several other customers waiting. I tried to wait for one to free up, but I had no luck. If I had all day to wait then I could've sat and waited, but I did not have that luxury. I knew what I needed and when it wasn't on the shelf I knew to look in the drawer underneath. The woman working the register was helping another customer as I was looking in the drawer. She stopped and told me to not look thru the drawer and that someone notifies them when a customer opens one. She said I needed to ask one of them to look for whatever item I needed. I already waited. I waited on the phone and I waited in the store. I even waited after she informed that I shouldn't be in the drawers. Like most others I don't have all the time in the world. Very annoying experience. This location is almost always understaffed when I go in. It's very frustrating.

This review is for the portrait studio only: The studio was already running late, however that is not our fault. We were rushed and posed so poorly that this was a complete waste of our time and money. The gal was SO rude to us and we were treated like garbage. We asked to get reposed and she was apparently fed up and told us she can't and we already had good shots. It was awful and will not go here again.

So I came here with a friend and was surprised by how nice this store is. I am not a huge fan of jc penny but this store impressed the hell out of me. Items were nicely placed. Made the Macy's in tracy look like a Walmart. I might have to keep this location as a possible shopping prospect for future consideration.

Was looking for a particular pair of jeans for my brother in law that the store did not have his size in the store. We were able to order them online with the help of a great cashier. Her name was Amy and she really went above and beyond to help us get the right size and to get them to the store in a timely manner. Thank you Amy for your help and the great servce.

I'm giving a 5 star here because I've had outstanding service every time I've gone in here. The clothes are cheap and fit me great. I'm a big dude too, so the XLT section is awesome if you're looking for it! I get my blue jeans here too, they have great prices on Levi's. My wife goes to Sephora all the time too and they're nothing but great to her. They answer all the questions she asks and informs her of anything she might have missed. I learned something too...but I won't ever need makeup so it doesn't work out for me. lol. Thanks so much guys and keep up the good work!

This review is mainly for the portrait studio. After a several horrible experiences at Picture People, and a less than great session at Sears, we decided to give JC Penney's Portrait Studio a try. We took the whole family (husband, daughter, my mom, my grandma, and myself) to take holiday portraits. The photographer was great - attentive, friendly, and professional! Even though it was packed and we had to wait a while after our scheduled appointment, the results were worth it. The photos were awesome! Lots of happy smiles and good poses (minus the weird look at the light pose) that made our day. We even purchased our holiday cards there! The best part was that the portraits were reasonably priced and we earned a $50 rewards certificate to use in the spring, coincidentally just in time for my daughter's 4th Birthday portraits. We just returned to JC Penney portraits to redeem our rewards and take the birthday portraits that I mentioned above. We had a different photographer but she was also very friendly and attentive. Again, we were so pleased with the results! Our daughter was looking at the camera and smiling in almost every shot and the photographer did quite a few poses that showed her personality. The birthday portion of the photographs included letters that spelled out the word four and a wooden number 4 for the birthday girl to hold. The photographer did a nice variety poses with the props and they turned out really well. The only downside is that the pictures and CD that we ordered won't be in for over a week. But for the price and the quality of the portraits, the wait is worth it. Overall, we are pleasantly surprised to have had 2 good experiences at JC Penney portraits and we will definitely be back in November for our holiday portraits! On the way out, we stopped by the toddler girls section and stocked up on some clothes too. The new pricing system is great! Everything is clearly and reasonably priced. We'll be back to shop too!

More often than not, the lines are long and I can't find what I'm looking for. The reason I can't find what I'm looking for is because the store is such a hot mess. I can never find anyone on the floor which is probably one of the reasons why it's so messy (no one to sweep through and clean). I feel bad for those that work there because they're too busy at the registers or attending the messy fitting rooms that they don't have time to keep up the departments and probably end up paying for it after close. Management needs to get them some help on the floor, especially with it now being the holiday season.

I love JC Penney, but, this Store is a complete messy, disorganized disaster. It seriously looks like a tornado hit the inside from one end to the other. No employees to help a customer. Obviously none to straighten merchandise or refold inventory. The store manager needs a clue. Corporate Office needs to take a look at this place.also store security should be added. We watched a family of 5 shoplifting a lot of merchandise and couldn't find anyone to report it to. Too bad, JC Penney has great prices and selection and quality.

Very helpful staff .. i had my wedding ring ordered 2 weeks before my wedding. The day it was supposed to be picked up my ring wasn't there. The manager by the name Venicia (sp) was super sweet and gave me a loaner ring to used until my ring came .. that was so sweet also teran was super sweet and helpful . Thank you ladies for everything.

Beware of this store. My bank card was stolen yesterday, and they allowed a stranger to use my business card with my personal name on it. They obviously lack a professional alertness to peoples Credit Cards. 207 dollars and some change, and when I called the manager on duty, her response was well you can dispute it with your bank. It isn't that big of a deal.

Sephora inside JCP I love coming here thank you so much Tess! My daughter loves how she makes her feel so confident and how well she treats her when getting her lip and brows waxed I was able to get same day appt no wait and at the time I wanted thank you so much for your service definitely coming back! 5 stars for you TESS!

Ring Order #1 April 1st: WORST WORST WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!!!!! I CANNOT BELIEVE THIS SHIT SHOW OF A PLACE! JCP IS RAN BY INCOMPETENT SALES ASSOCIATES AND UNPROFESSIONAL MANAGERS WHO HAVE A COMPLETELY DYSFUNCTIONAL SYSTEM IN AND OUT! FIRST RING PURCHASE THE ASSOCIATE FROM MERCED ORDERED THE WRONG SIZE. I CALLED THE SAME DAY AND INFORMED HER ABOUT THE ERROR, BUT SHE INSISTED I WAS WRONG AND JUST CONFUSED BECAUSE I TRIED ON MANY RINGS. THE RING CAME IN AND IT WAS THE WRONG SIZE. WHAT'S EVEN BETTER IS IT COULDN'T BE SIZED UP ENOUGH THROUGH THEM AND THEY THREATENED MY INSURANCE PLAN WOULD BE VOID IF I TOOK IT ELSEWHERE. THEN THE MANAGER ADVISED TO JUST COME IN AND RETURN THE RING AND PURCHASE A NEW ONE TO FIX THE ISSUE. I GO IN, PURCHASE THE NEW RING AND BEFORE I EVEN GET HOME THE MANAGER CALLS TO TELL ME THAT ACTUALLY THEY NO LONGER SELL THAT RING. (THIS IS ALSO AFTER BEING BOUNCED FROM MERCED TO TURLOCK TO MODESTO!!!) We ended up taking it to a COMPETENT jeweler who fixed the original ring for additional $ but now I have NO insurance plan in tact. RING #2 December 13: We shopped around other jewelers DREADING to go back to JCP but could not find a matching band. Our last shot was JCP which coincidentally had the perfect band to match the ring. This time, we are in Turlock and informed the associate that we were very uneasy about purchasing because of the first shit show we went through. After speaking with her, she put as at ease and made us feel comfortable so we placed the order with her. It was supposed to arrive in two weeks. Two weeks went by and we received NOTHING. I checked the status online Saturday since it never arrived on Friday and it showed "cancelled," but they conveniently charged me for the jewelers protection plan still. I called the 800# and she stated it was cancelled from the distribution center because the coupon code provided was no longer available. WE NEVER WENT IN WITH A COUPON!!!! Basically they don't honor any sales that are going on in store (WHICH THE EMPLOYEE INSERTED HERSELF), don't care what the receipt shows, and don't have the COMMON DECENCY to notify you for shit if they cancel your ring order. Called the Turlock jewelry department and they told a different story. They said they were never notified that the order was cancelled and just found out today. Really? You found out the day after it was supposed to be delivered that it was cancelled??? And on top of that, her excuse was that the ring order was cancelled because "they were no longer manufacturing it." On top of that, she couldn't tell me who her own district manager was. It's like dealing with clowns at a circus, just less humorous. DO NOT SHOP HERE!

This review is for the portrait studio. The photo session was very pleasant. I didn't get the employee's name but she did amazing with my girls. Loved how she interacted with them. We had a small window to take pictures and she captured great shots before my daughter had a meltdown. The pictures are a little bit more pricey than Picture People, but I feel the quality is better. Will continue to take pictures here!

I love this JCPenney location they are very nice and clean have all the latest trends they even have great parking always a spot to park which is awesome you don't have to walk so far to get inside the store; love getting all my perfumes at Sephora. I have a JCPenney's credit card so I'm always getting coupons and discounts; that help with the total costs of my purchases.

After canceling and rescheduling multiple appointments due to me being sick, we finally made it in to take our first family photos. There was no long wait. And we even got taken in early! Daisyand Jen were working. My son, who is 6 months old, would NOT smile for anything or anyone. Lol but Daisy did not give up! She was so kind, patient and determined to catch good photos of my family. I really appreciated that. Jen also tried to help with making him smile. The pictures came out perfect! Even though he rarely smiled lol Jen checked us out. She showed us the photos and made a few fun adjustments to some. She explained the offers but was not pushy at all. We told her what we wanted and she made sure we got the best deal. I'm definitely happy with my experience and will be going back in the future. Especially now that we have the membership. Now we have our first family photos done, Christmas present to give out (the photos) and something to look forward to. Thanks ladies!

What a waste of time to shop here or to do returns. I shop in bayarea but i was in manteca so i thought to try it out. This place is messy and no customer service. Went to return and to buy stuff. The lady that was at the return register she didnt even acknowledge her customers. After 5 mins later i asked is there someone else to help, she looked at me and said the lady will be back in 10 mins. I asked if anyone else can help because some of us have been standing for a while she said no and just went on doing what she doing. Just rude. My mom and i had some stuff to buy also went to the register the cashier name JD was like you can do only 2 transaction at a time that is store policy. I asked to show me where its written he didnt even have anything. He also did not let me use jc penny gift card with jc penny credit card. Again per him its store policy. Bullshit not my first rodeo. This is the only store that did that no other store does that. The mgr was like that is how it works here . She was on the phone with the customer and phone them on hold to come and tell me that is just the store policy. Very rude way. This place is so ghetttooo . What they need to do is change their attitude and smile more. And get rid of the crack head looking people.

I so love JC Penney's beauty salon. I feel it needs more recognition for how hard they all work. Especially krystine pettit. ! She is amazing and works so hard. Will be going back and make appt with her !

Not really a big fan of JCPenny but the only thing I like about this one is that they have a mini Sephora. The closest one to us besides this one is the one in Modesto at VIntage Fair Mall. In spite of the fact that it's small, it's very convienent for me to come here instead of driving all the way to Modesto.

Smaller than most JCPENNEY stores but not as much foot traffic which is good and customer service is great
