Zoey and Susie need better guest service tried purchasing boots on sale and wanted to use my JCP card, I had just purchased boots like about 2 hrs prior in store with no problem with my JCP card showing my id on my phone, called her manager right away said I needed a physical card to purchase with my card ssn I went through the app and asked if I can purchase an app and get the shoes. The manager was very dismissive short worded and would talk over me. Came in with an aggressive demeanor, just like the cashier who helped me, I Overheard her say she had to go home, but she didn’t have to be rude ( the cashier). Overall, I think these people need coaching like she expressed, to learn how to speak to people in difficult situations. They were not helpful at all. I just decided to online order. The boots were cheaper and I don’t have to pay their paycheck. Won’t be coming back to this JCPenney.

January 23 2025 Today I purchased a bra and pack of panties. There was a sign on panties display. At register it did not show on sale. Cashier went to check came back and said there was no sign. I purchased anyway but I told cashier I was going to go check. Sign was gone!! Clearly she took sign stating they were on sale. I had no proof. This is so aggravating. I refuse to shop at this JCPenney ever again. I will tell family and friends to not shop there

Curbside pickup is an absolute joke. 2 times in a row, never came out with the order, had to go in and get it myself. Only one line for pickup and returns, had to wait twice as long. An a totally different order, had my wife go and try to pick it up, the workers were rude and said they couldn't give her my order, although she had my ID, while returning a previous order under the same name!! Relax, it's only a $20 order that we are trying to pickup, acting like it's a priceless artifact. Please put more effort in providing proper customer service, and having associates for both pickup and returns. One person doing both returns and online pickup defeats the purpose, you still have to wait in line. Total joke

I'm surprised this place is still around. A lot of JCPenney's I know have closed down. This place was well organized and had a few sales going on. They had the a/c pumping, which made it motivating to walk around and see what they had to offer. I didn't really interact with any workers. They were mostly busy helping other customers. Some stuff is way over price. Back in the 90s they had more of a variety of work shoes. Outdoor (hiking) clothing. The baby isle had a variety of different brands. The kid isle had everything for back to school. It's so boring when you go there now.

This is a really nice location with a great selection of items. I purchased a Rams hat for 30% off. I also bought some new dressy sweaters for work. My husband also bought some clothes. The staff was friendly. We will definitely shop here again.

Yeah, don't order anything from this store for pickup at the store. Drove out from Duarte to pick up my $30 shampoo I ordered that I received a text for telling me it was available for pickup. No it wasn't. The store is closed at 7pm because their "system is down".

I always park outside JCPenney when I come to the Montebello Mall and walk through this store to the other stores. When I went, they were doing some reorganizing. They have some nice clothing, but i do notice that a sweater that i bought in the past costs more now.

COVID-19: Social distancing is not enforced at this establishment. Some of the staff wears a mask. All customers are not expected to wear a mask. It's optional now. None of the staff wears gloves. There are some hand sanitizers available for customers to use. This place is open and available with no limited capacity. They are not sanitizing in between customers. COVID-19 Vaccination Proof: This establishment currently does not require proof of vaccination. While I was grabbing some stuff from this establishment several days ago, I asked if they had any special offers and they weren't offering any at the moment. They currently don't have happy hour (duh). They also do not allow pets in their establishment UNLESS it's a service animal. Parking: The parking lot for this establishment is massive since it is located inside a mall. Lots of parking spots for you to choose from. Take your pick. However, the lot can get very full very easily and quickly. Staff: The staff here are very friendly, kind, and helpful. The store itself is very clean, neat, tidy, and organized. They accept both cash and credit cards. There is no credit card minimum.

3.5-4 stars My experience is only from store pick-up. I happened to be in the area and it was the only JcPenney location that had the items I needed. I placed the order the night before and it was ready for pick-up the next day. It was my first time to this shopping mall and was glad that I parked in the correct lot. The pick-up counter is the same entrance as the salon (right of the entrance) and restrooms are also conveniently located to the left of the entrance. There were 2 customer service people at the pick-up counter and I was able to pick up my order soon after. I even stopped by the salon on the way out to inquire about pricing and appointments. There was plenty of parking on a Saturday afternoon and had no issues with my pick-up order.

We love the staff & this store! Thru all the years; Stanford t-shirts were my 2nd skin under my Dickies. They still have a full service Beauty Salon, Photo Studio & GREAT DEALS! The close out items are ridiculously marked down. I was saddened to learn they now- no longer carry Nike. Plenty of other brands to choice from. Full array of Levi's jeans & apparel. Call ahead for store hours as they have changed. Thru it all, it's still a great go to family based store; especially if you have kids! Great markdowns & sign up bc additional savings to be had. I hope they don't leave our mall. Only time will tell. Check it out. It's a great local experience.

I visited multiple JCPs while out of town and this one was great. It was packed full of merchandise, and I found like 5 things I wanted. I forgot the cashier's name, but she was very friendly and easy to chat with. Great JCP!

Only one dressing room open and it was dirty and disgusting. Tons of hair all over the floor. Used clothing left in the stalls. When I went to find a cashier at 5pm, she told me that they only get cleaned at night when store closes and that there was no one to call. She didn't even both to call anyone. What a disappointment.

They are having their early Black Friday specials and have only 2 stations with 3 registers each working customer service for the entire first floor with long lines! No wonder why people shop Amazon! This is ridiculous! Cashiers are slower than molasses!

I took my mom to JCP for a shopping splurge. As we parted ways so she could browse in her Womens area I decided to check out the watch section. I wasn't looking for a watch, I just wanted to browse and kill some time so my mom could shop. As I was getting ready to walk away I was approached by Carla Silva. She politely asked if there was a watch I was interested in. I told her 'no thanks I'm just looking.' She said Ok and if I changed my mind and wanted to take advantage of 'The Sale' prices she would be glad to help. Normally I would've kept walking away as the PUSHY sales clerks continue their barrage. Only this time it was quiet. I turned to see where she went and she was straightening out a display. She saw me looking back, smiled and asked if I had changed my mind. (The gall of this sales clerk ! LOL) I had time to kill, she wasnt pushy. Why not see what she could show me. She asked for my preference in watches and patiently showed me a few from different brands. Needless to say she made a sale. Not Once being pushy with lines like 'That's my favorite' or 'That's a popular choice with customers'. She just smiled. And then apologized and asked if I would be patient with her as she had to get help from her supervisor because she (Carla) had just started working there. WHAT?!... I figured with the confidence and patience she displayed that she had a few years under her belt at least! She was courteous, not pushy and wholeheartedly focused on my transaction. Unfortunately her supervisor felt it was necessary to berate her in front of me on how she presented the items and how 'she needs to pay attention when she shows her how to adjust a wristband because it's a lot of work'... (SHE had the demeanor that would've kept me walking away from the display at the start.) You did great Carla! Strive to be better than your supervisor. Dont change your ways and never be pushy! It was a pleasure meeting you! If I see you on my next visit I may buy that 2nd watch from you. Keep smil'n!

YES BUT THE BARGAINS....are mindblowing. Sometimes the store is in disarray. Sometimes the checkouts are closed. Sometimes dressing rooms are closed. Mostly, the price checkers are nonoperational. BUT clothes here are on trend, and the sizes range (you can find wide-calf boots here)...I always find something to mix and match with my expensive designer items. In other words, the price can be amazing if you use coupons, especially the $10 ones, those 20 percent off discounts...and the rewards program is aptly named. FOR EXAMPLE -- Yesterday, I was in the store at the MONTEBELLO MALL and found a powder blue Rossetti handbag retailing at $49.00, but at the register, it was on sale for $11...and with a $10 mailer coupon...I paid $1.02 cents for a lovely blue across-the-body handbag. I bought Bisou Bisou blouses at the JC PENNEY WESTFIELD location for $6. I couldn't believe it. I know these summer items need to make way for fall, so beautiful name-brand clothes at bargain basement prices. Whoever are the buyers for JPPenney, kudos! They have good taste ....and while a lot has gone down in terms of customer service and convenience...I have to admit it's not the old ladyish stodgy clothes of yesterday.... the style/quality of the clothes and craftsmanship of the clothes AND costume jewelry get more compliments than my high-end designer duds! BIG PLUS sales associates here are friendly and nice, and doing their level best, but clearly they are understaffed. Some tell-tale gasping signs that not all is right here at the Montebello location, with all the fitting room and cashier station closures. and the messiness...but hello, bargains!

This JCP is usually very good, I buy quite a bit. Today is worst retail experience I've had in years! The Manager on duty, Rosa, was very rude, dismissive, condescending, arrogant, etc. After dealing with her, I left a full cart at the counter and walked out.

Great, fast and easy. Came here around 11/07/20 around 3:30 to pick up an online order. Since Covid has become an issue it has been very helpful to be able to purchase things and just pick them up. Pick up was very helpful and easy and I had no issues with it. Customer service: was very fast and easy. Ambience: quiet and lonely. Prices: good not too expensive. Overall I will still continue to shop here considering all the deals.

I bought a gold bracelet for my daughter for Christmas day. It broke within 2 weeks of wearing it , luckily I bought warranty on it. I brought it to get fixed. They said 3 weeks to a month. I came 1 month later the employee, an Asian lady was bothered with us asking for it and told us to wait longer. A week after I spoke to the manager Olga who reassure me she was going to speed up the process. It's been 2 and a half months and although they say it's been shipped they don't have it. I'm very disappointed in the fine jewelry department. I asked them to let the manager call me and I'm still waiting on that call. At this point I just want to return it and get my money back. Bad customer service plus they promise you a set date they should deliver on it.

Second returning a gift from Xmas,that unfortunately didn't fit and they can't process because my Driver license is old and does not swipe. Stephanie the "supervisor" was unhelpful and rude.. together with Nicole an unfriendly cashier. Big company and no help retrieving a receipt, ripping off people by offering the lowest return exchange price. And staff instead of being more helpful and explain things in a nice way,they response with attitude and a smirk face . If you hate your job why work here, leave the job to someone who is friendly and capable of putting their bad day behind and completing the job the right way.

Love going here just for the free spray cologne. Well, you didn't expect me to buy that tiny bottle of expensive stuff..did ya? I just spray spray spray some of everything. Nice mixture and I smell like new. I like JCP, but what I don't like is their online site that says that they have the item in stock and it's no longer being sold, but the site still says it's at the store. Aside from that, the people that work here are generally nice, and they do have a nice men's selection of clothes at reasonable prices. I often wonder if they raise the prices in order to give you the high discounts.

Went in this morning to return 3 items. 2 of the items were rings, silver. Not even over $75 each. Old lady at jewelry counter with glasses at was helpless. What's even worse lady Liz was worthless and helpless. Said since I didn't have a physical receipt I couldn't return at this location. Why do you give the option to send receipts to email?! She made me go back to West Covina. Liz don't know what you are....a manger or a sales associate. Hope your not a manager. Very poor customer service ethics and not professional at all. You should be working at mc Donald's. If you're having a bad day stay at home. I did end up going to West Covina and they were surprised at how I was treated at the Montebello location. Funny thing is they said they could of done the refund. Liz, you're a horrible person and don't deserve to be working and treating customers like trash. This coming from someone with a higher position and better customer service skills.

This review is for the salon. I had Salina as a stylist. First showing up I was confused because the door said closed. Turns out the power went out and so they pushed my appointment back. Salina took me in right away. We had a great sit down talking about the color I wanted and cut that would fit. It took a while but the color cane out amazing and Salina was amazing with making sure I was comfortable throughout the whole process. If not for the power outage this would be one of the best hair appointments I've ever had. I can't wait to come back and work with Salina again for my retouch!!!

People always say the mall is more ghetto here and I never really agreed until today. The store looks like it's going out of business with stuff everywhere. The purse section looks like a tornado ran through it. The clearance is a mess. I can't believe they allowed the department store to get so bad. On top of everything, I came to pick up an online order which says the pickup is downstairs in the home section. I couldn't find anyone at a register there or even in that area so I asked around and it turns out online pickup is upstairs.

It's after Christmas sales. You're trying to welcome customers in for the sales yet you under staff. If you want the people's money then how about you actually get some employees instead of making them wait 30-40 min for returns, and only having 1 customer service register open. This is such a big disappointment. I won't be spending any more money here and I do NOT think anyone else should as well. If you are looking at the pictures you can see where the register is and you can see my place in line that I have been standing for the past 25 minutes.

Don't go there to pick up the online order. They are very slow and no one there at the counter and you have to wait there without cashier for a long time. Finally some one showed up at the counter after a half hour later, she claimed she needed to walk to other side to get the order. Came last week with my mom to come get a start on her sales for the bath towels just a quick in and out, but when my mom got confused on the pricing because they were all mixed up we went to go look for someone who available to help her, but no one to be found, hmm. So i ended up finding someone who looked as if he was the manager went to ask him for help to see if he can do a SIMPLE price check he said to ''give me a minute to find someone to help you" My response was why cant you just help her your just standing right there its gonna take no more than 2 mins. Beware:: Marisela (i'm not certain this is her name) in Customer Service desk by the back main exit (near gym clothes) - I was here with my mom during closing 6Pm today 1/24 and she felt that it was okay to GRAB and TOUCH my moms phone MULTIPLE times. She had ONE glove on (that wasn't changed with our transaction) and touched and grabbed MY MOMS PHONE with her GLOVELESS hand! My mom is older and has both diabetes and high blood pressure, not to mention my brother's mother-in-law just DIED because of covid. People are not only dying but also losing their jobs! People working should feel thankful and blessed and MOST IMPORTANTLY BE SAFE WHEN DEALING WITH OTHERS ESPECIALLY WITH OLDER ADULTS!!!!! My mom is not stupid, she works in an office and knows how to screenshot and zoom in! Her touching my moms phone with a gloveless hand is fucked up and DANGEROUS! When my mom got her phone back, i got it and asked for a sanitizing wipe and told her she shouldnt be touching peoples phones. She pointed towards the hand sanitizer pump and said they only had those and that she had just sanitized her ungloveddealtwithseveralpeople hand with an attitude. I responded that it was irresponsible and dangerous and that that didnt matter, PEOPLE ARE DYING. She continued to talk back to me with attitude and repeating that she had gloves on (which she only had one old glove on one of her hands) and she even tried saying she didnt touch my moms card, AS IF I DIDNT JUST SEE HER GRAB MY MOMS PHONE OUT OF HER HAND AND CONTINUE TO USE IT, AS IF my mom couldnt follow her verbal instruction, which she didnt even try doing. Once again, my mom is NOT STUPID! I told her she should've directed my mom and she couldve done it, WOW I MUST BE A GENIUS! I work with the school district and we cant even open the door to speak with parents. In the rare case that we do have to deal with them, all PPE is used. She continued to tell my mom in Spanish "gracias a dios por el vaccine" (thank god for the vaccine) when i told her that people were dying. LIKE WHAT??? I asked her for her name and she refused to give it to me. I asked her coworker next to her and he wouldnt either. I asked for a manager and the employee at the door who had heard everything came over and spoke to me and took over the register. During this time she proceeded to tell me how "This conversation was over" and to "talk to the hand" while i was talking to the manager about her attitude and carelessness at a CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK. Talk to the hand??? Are we children? This lady was in her 40s telling me to talk to the hand because I CALLED HER OUT about touching MY MOTHERS BELONGINGS during a fucking pandemic. How god damn wild was the experience i just had. My brothers mother-in-law just passed! How dare she try to tell my mom "thank god for the vaccine". YEAH BECAUSE OF FUCKING PEOPLE LIKE HER RISKING OTHERS!! Instead of apologizing and admitting her wrongdoing, she told me to talk to the hand. JESUS CHRIST. As i left, the person who I believed was the manager said theyd be following up with her and the manager??? Wasnt he the manager? I will be definitely be following up with this mess. I wonder how many others she potentially exposed to the deadly virus!

If you have an elderly member in your family, do not shop at this JCPenney. My 85 year old gradma, who is in a wheelchair asked me go shopping with her. We were told that the women's department was down stairs so I headed to the elevator not knowing it was not working. I circled around looking for someone that could guide me on where to go and no workers were around. A customer told me, that I had to go outside and down the mall elevator to get to the 1st floor. By now my gradma was upset and inpatient. We shopped and got to a cashier after more than a 20 minute wait. I asked the cashier about the elevator situation and to call a manager. The phone rang and the cashier explained the situation. I over heard the person on the other side say I dont have time to go right now have them leave me their name and number. I was so upset that we just left our purchase and walked away. The cashier said that was their store manager!! They have no common decency or respect for their customers! It will be my last time coming to this store.

Funny that at any other JC penny I've always been allowed to check out the other displays and pay anywhere in store. I left my basket at the front and left them the card for my channel: close to 3 million people who now get to hear this story time.Needless to say: I'm not suprised JC penny is going out of buisness. I like how all the staff members are wearing face coverings, gloves, and have hand sanitizer. Lilian Rubio is a master hairstylist, and she's been doing my hair for years. I love every person in there. They're so nice, they treat you with respect and they are so professional. Love the OLAPLEX hair treatment and the KERATIN COMPLEX hair treatment

This JCPenney is located at The Shops at Montebello (formally the Montebello Town Center), specifically near the BJ's restaurant. I came by here last Wednesday looking to use my $10 coupon ($10 off a $10 or more purchase) on maybe a pair of denim jeans. This JCPenney is 2 floors. The first floor is women clothing, women shoes and housewares. On the 2nd floor is men clothing, children clothing and shoes. I thought the layout of this JCPenney just seemed a little different from other JCPenney stores that I have been to, so I had a little trouble looking for items that I was wanted to get (I am truly a creature of habit and am a fan of consistency). Upon my visit, there was this 65-85% off clearance section throughout the store, probably trying to get rid of the winter and fall items for more room for summer wear. The sales associate who rang up my purchase was nice. I was lucky to find the register that I went to with no line (although there was another register with a long line... it pays to walk around to find a shorter one). All in all, had an A-Okay experience and would come back here again in case I was in the area.

For real! First I wanted to make a purchase. Hello! Hello! Anybody here? Finally found a sales associate to help me. He was very cool and helped us when the items rang up wrong. We also had a return and he say now you have to go over by optics by the dot com to return items. Huh what are we in the 50's catalog days again. Hey at least someone was there. Well hey Penny's at least you are inconveniencing the customer for returns blushing me right into amazon and other online retailers Hey y'all reading this don't even try a return after Christmas death will come sooner.

Came in to find a dress. I was able to find what I needed quickly but when I got to the register there were 15 people in line. I walked around to the other side of the store and that register was closed. One register on the whole floor or go upstairs and use the register in the hair salon. Those were my options. I left the dress and went to a different store. I'm not surprised JCPenney is having difficulty keeping stores open. They missed out on my $ today. SMH.

are we still in a pandemic. only 2 registers open and 30 people in each line huddled together like Old Man Penney forgot to pay the heating bill. No thanks. I'll shop elsewhere.

I went in with my wife 2/20 around 130/2pm and the store was absolutely a mess. Clothes off the racks, laying on the floor, trash everywhere just to name a few things. I was shocked because we usually shop at the Whittier and chino hills store. They are never ever like this! The store looked like a Sears store. Also very dirty. The men's restroom was horrible. I have seen gas stations cleaner than that!! The mall being ok but this store is horrible even compared to Macy's. Maybe the employees just don't care or what??

The mystery coupon was not available when I asked for it (as advertised). I was told that they were given out in the morning and I wasn't able to get the additional discount that I could have had. Is I was able to have the advertised mystery coupon. I went to both Downey and Montebello JCP on Saturday 7-21-18

I went to pick up a online order so they moved online pick up to the middle or nowhere upstairs by the photo area it used to be down stairs so I was sent to the wrong place twice by employees then I get there to online pick up and they say oh it's jewelry you have to go down stairs in jewelry omg so I go downstairs and I waited 30 minutes to get helped! The lady was ignoring me while she helped someone else I waited patiently it shouldn't take 45 min from start to finish to pick up a online order! And make it clear that if it's a jewelry purchase you pick it up in jewelry not ONLINE PURCHASE PICK UP omg ! Horrible

Lines are long, the place is a mess, and employees do not look happy. I always have to think twice if ordering for pick up. It'll take on average 15-25 minutes or more to receive help and/or checking out. Management has to change.

Let me start by saying we are a third generation of Jc Penny shoppers and after my Black Friday experience I doubt I will step foot in to a Jc Penny again other than to walk through to the other stores in the mall if needed. I made purchases online for Black Friday a suit for my son for Christmas and a couple of other purchases and I got the your items will be ready within 4 days I was told I would get a text letting me know when my items were available. On day 12 I decided to make some calls first to the 800 number provided where they told me they could tell my items were sent to the store but could not verify if they had been scanned in to the system by the local workers. I then attempted to call the local Montebello location and was just transferred around with no one willing to answer. I then printed out my order and drove to the location. After waiting in a long line for customer service the girl takes my list to the back where her and a group of co workers can be heard giggling and messing around. After a ten minute wait she returns and tells me they need to cancel my order as they don't have any of the items in stock. I advised them why would you sell them to me then not notify me for 12 days. She had no answer...... I then decided to go look for these items in store myself and low and behold they were in stock the staff was just too lazy to do there jobs. If you guys go out of business you have no one to blame but yourselves.

The associates here are RUDE ! I've worked in retail for many years and I was shocked to believe they even still had jobs . Went to the register for a price and was told to go to a scanner . No they did not have a line btw. I was in the Home Department and employees were just talking to each other while I proceeded to look for a scanner . The store is a mess I had to literally walk up over things , and it was hard to shop on the rack all the hangers were bunched up together and to top it off all with the wrong size on top . First and last time I'll come to this jcp.
