After searching through fully booked restaurants that serves steak for Valentine's weekend, I finally found that JD Hoyt's had some openings. A couple weeks later and it's time to eat.
My girlfriend had the Valentine's special: lobster tail, 6 oz filet mignon, mashed potatoes, and brussel sprouts. It also came with corn bread.
I had the 18 oz bone-in grilled ribeye with asparagus entree, which also came with cheesy garlic bread. For extra sides, I got the garlic mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. To top it off, I had my ribeye spicy style, which is their own spicy sauce.
To start off the meal, we had the caesar salad, corn bread, and cheesy garlic bread. The Caesar salad was like every other Caesar salad, a good healthy start to a hearty meal. Their corn bread was delicious. Pour a little of their honey on the corn bread, and it takes it to another level with that additional sweetness. The cheesy garlic was also delicious; cheesy and garlicky goodness. It wasn't toasty, but soft in a good way. Not having much of a sweet tooth, the garlic bread was my favorite starter.
Up next, our entrees and sides. My medium rare bone-in ribeye was delicious. Meaty and fatty goodness, and was exactly what you would expect from a good ribeye. Again, I had it with their spicy sauce. Their spicy sauce was drenched over the ribeye, and tasted exactly like A1 sauce, but on another level with little crunchy textures from the black pepper bits. It is packed with spice, but not spicy heat-wise. Steak and A1 sauce, in my opinion, goes along really well. However, being that the ribeye was covered in the sauce, made every bite sort of... a lot to handle as time went on. My advice would be to order the sauce on the side, not sure if their other sauces would feel the same. The asparagus that came along with it was decent.
The sides, mac and cheese and garlic mashed potatoes, were also decent. Good additions, but nothing to praise about.
My girlfriend enjoyed her meal. Again, her entree was the Valentine's special: 6 oz filet mignon & lobster tail, brussel sprouts, and mashed potaties.
Overall, we had a good time at JD Hoyt's. The service was nice and we were treated well.
