"Everything about this Santa Barbara institution—including the somewhat unorthodox ordering system—is legendary. Some 30 years ago, Jeannine’s signature scones helped put the original Downtown SB location on the map. These days, the lobster Benedict and Kahlua-soaked banana French toast keep all three locations slammed at brunch time, while crisp salads and fresh, no-frills sandwiches leave lunch crowds happy. That’s not to say the baked goods haven’t held up over the years: The currant scones and homemade cookies are as good as ever. There are also two locations in Santa Barbara, one on State Street and the other on Figueroa."

We had an amazing brunch at Jeannine’s! Our Havana latte was delicious! We tried Santa Barbara scrambled, tri tip sandwich, avocado toast and tuna melt sandwich were all good! We also had the coconut pineapple scone — best scone I’ve ever had. Service was excellent as well. I highly recommend this restaurant 👍🏽👍🏽

One of my all-time favourite places! Great for breakfast, brunch, or lunch, and a wide variety of Californian-style foods. They're also very adaptable for people with dietary restrictions or food intolerances. My only sad point is that they took the once-loved Californian omelette off the menu at some point, which was a shame because it was so delicious! The coffee and pastries are tasty and fresh, and the charm of the outdoor patio in the heart of Montecito is unbeatable. Great value for money, friendly staff, and consistently good food -- I've been coming here for more than 10 years and still have always found it lovely every time.

Great brunch place. Nice ambience and great staffs. We tried the avocado toast and veggie sandwich. Their ciabatta bread and sourdough bread was fresh. The fruit cup was extremely gourmet. Great ambiance.

I love this place! One of the best cream cheese Danish I've had. And, the chilaquiles was interesting. The red chile sauce was a bit smoky, but oh so delicious, and the queso fresco brought it all together to enhance the flavors of a dish that many places cannot do justice! Together, with a nice chai latte, I indulged, and left feeling fat and happy. Definitely recommend stopping there if you're on the 101 and don't necessarily feel the need to go to the other location that's in downtown Santa Barbara.

Google
Wonderful restaurant that we fully enjoyed for breakfast. The banana French toast was amazing (if you like caramel it’s a must!) and top quality coffee, eggs, and bacon. Lots of pastries and cakes available, will try another time. This place is definitely a local favorite, always busy but we found a table and had our food out quickly. One special part of our experience was Lalo. He checked in on our family and made sure everything was excellent. Our young son is sometimes picky with food but he loves his scrambled eggs, English muffin, fresh strawberries, and bananas. Thanks Jeannine’s and especially Lalo, we will see you all again!!

Google
What an excellent place for breakfast! Located in peaceful and blissful Montecito this restaurant is always popular with the locals and tourists alike. Sometimes you see a long line of people waiting outside. It is worth the wait. Their food is very delicious and their service is quick. The only problem is that the diners want to hang out at the tables for longer because it’s such a fun place to see and be seen and people watch. If you wake up early you will get in without a problem. Try their breakfast and bakery goods. They also offer fun mimosas mixed with great bubbles. Inside the restaurant there is a beautiful vintage stained glass window. Do check it out as well.

I was able to visit Jeannine's for breakfast and it is such a cute, cozy restaurant and bakery. I went twice in the week and both mornings I was able to walk in with only 1-2 people in front of me. The menus are at front for you to grab and while you make your way to the register you get to see their scones, cookies, pastries and other confections. You place your order at the register where they provide you with a number that you can take to your table of choice. The young girls behind the register were so sweet and polite and were very great at going over the menu options. I highly recommend the apple scone, lemon scone and the cherry scones; all 3 were magnificent. I was able to try the Florentine Benedict and the Santa Barbara Scramble with Avocado. I had tried the Florentine Benedict the first morning and I loved it so much I went back two days later. The Scramble was just as good and so was their fresh squeezed orange juice. If youre ever in the area or just driving by, visit this cozy establishment as it will not disappoint.

Love this place especially for breakfast! The food is always consistently delicious, the service is always with a smile, and it’s an upbeat atmosphere. Just wish there was more seating.

Yelp
What a wonderful place! From the moment we walked up, to the moment we left, it was such a positive experience and I look forward to coming back. We felt very welcomed by every member of the staff and the food far exceeded our expectations. We got the breakfast burrito with potatoes, a blueberry scone, and an orange juice to share. The potatoes were absolutely delicious, it was nice mix of purple and yellow potatoes with carrots and they were crispy on the outside with a fluffy buttery interior. The burrito was well balanced - the bacon was super smoky, and the fresh salsa had a nice kick and flavor. The texture of the scone was perfect, crispy exterior with a moist interior with lots of delicious blueberries. The fresh orange juice was one of the best I've had in a long while. High quality ingredients that are well prepared. The ambiance is super cute, from the pink umbrellas to the pink salt and pepper shakers, and cute little vintage and modern touches throughout. We sat outside and thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast. Come early as it gets packed! Ample street parking.

Yelp
Loved the Jeannine's at the shore in Santa Barbara, so decided to stop by this location in Montecito as well. This location is smaller than the SB one, thus offering less merch and goodies inside. However they have beautiful full size cakes for sale, which I don't recall being offered in the SB (unless it was on the other side of the restaurant which I didn't get to sit at). Most of the tables available for you to eat at are located outdoors. I like that they ask you for your party size while you wait in line and then they assign you a table and tell you what table number you are at. This definitely reduced my anxiety about where to sit once I placed my order at the counter. We were seated at a high top by the entrance, which was not the best location. We had the water station behind us so people were constantly coming by and refilling water. People in line had their dogs off leash so the dogs kept wandering around our table. Patrons would stand by our table and chat and catch up which was fine, but they would put their arms on our chairs to lean against, which felt like an invasion of our space. My friend ordered the chicken salad sandwich previously and was so impressed that she ordered it again. I had the chicken salad salad with a side of soup. Everything was great! Service was kind and food came out fairly quickly. Portions were generous and I loved the little wheat free corn bread muffin that came with my salad. I wish I came a bit earlier so I could pick up a few pastries as well. Not much left by the time we arrived, so I'll have to come earlier next time!

Yelp
Food was delicious and came in big portions. Everything tasted fresh and they had some unique flavors that made everything even better tasting! The cashier was nice and the servers were quick with our food and drinks. The cafe is super cute and has great outdoor seating for sunny morning coffee. We sat inside because of bad weather and it was a little cramped, but with so many people trying to eat here it's obviously understandable

Yelp
Worth checking out! Small town feel with a big city flavor. Staff was helpful and attentive. The food was hardy and packed with seasoning. Exactly what you're looking for on a Sunday morning after church or a Saturday brunch with the squad.

Yelp
Our favorite cafe in Montecito! Such a great brunch spot with several options. The favorites were the banana foster french toast and beef eggs benedict! Service is extra friendly and ambiance is definitely a cute, brunch cafe.

Yelp
I actually desired to go to the Santa Barbara location and I could have walked there from the train station. Instead, I hailed Uber, didn't notice there was another location and ended up here. You see a lot of well heeled people. Yes, I am in Montecito. There is a nice summer ambiance at Jeannine's. Outside tables with umbrellas and a relaxed inside crowd at the limited small tables inside. There are bakery goods, together with breakfast and lunch items from a small but enticing menu. I had another place in mind for lunch, so I only opted for one small Almond Financier and was shocked when I had to pay over $8 for it. Round trip Uber was $30. The Financier was good, but at that price? I later noted that it was also gluten free. Service was timely and excellent.

Yelp
This place is so cute! And the food is really good. I got the banana brioche french toast and it slapped. Was on a sugar rush all day from it. The matcha was alright, a bit weak imo. Make sure to get a scone to go! Perfect spot to sit outside for a Sunday brunch - you might even spot a celeb!

Yelp
I just had the tri-tip sandwich on sourdough. Simply the BEST sandwich I have had in years!! Highly recommended!!!
google avatar

Yelp
Love Jeannine's! Highly recommend ordering in advance for pick-up to avoid long lines and take your food to the beach! I love scones and was really impressed by the ones here. Also highly recommend the Havana latte!
google avatar

Yelp
Yummy, yummy, yummo, yummo, yummy, yummo, yummy, yummo, yummo, yummy, yummo, yummy, yummo! Challah French toast, scone, omelets - all great!
google avatar

Yelp
Absolutely love the atmosphere of this place and never miss a chance to go when I am in the Santa Barbara area, I opt for the Montecito location as it just feels more intimate and is near a perfect little stretch to walk by the water. the decor is fabulous and so sweet and romantic with all the black and white photos inside. I also love the products they sell for take home, unique honey flights and a fabulous assortment of charming cookies. We love going for brunch and everything is so yummy from the omelettes to the lemon poppyseed pancakes and everything in between. I must say I also have always meet the nicest most interesting people when we dine there. Very dog friendly as well.

Yelp
This was such a cute little spot!! I loved everything about it. The food was amazing! We had breakfast plus a few pastries. I don't have one negative comment! Customer service was phenomenal.

Yelp
Cute cafe with great service. Food is good but kind of lacking some flavor. The breakfast burrito was a bit watery. Lattes are good. Indoor and outdoor seating. Nice spot for breakfast or brunch or catching up with a friend for coffee

Yelp
What a terrific breakfast place! Lots of healthy options to choose from. Excellent service and lovely alfresco dining. Jorge made us feel very welcome. Highly recommend this charming restaurant.

Yelp
I've visited both Jeanine's locations quite a bit and I like it as a go to with friends. The chicken sando is my go to but this time around since I wasn't 100% happy with my last experience, I went with the tri tip. I actually really didn't enjoy the sandwich. The cook was good but I couldn't get with the tastes. So I won't order it again but I will go back and see if they get the chicken right again. The blue tortilla chips and salsa are some of my favorite house chips/salsa. And their lemonade is yumm. Atmosphere is cool. Parking can be a thing but just apply a little patience and it'll be with it. Outdoor seating is nice. Their area is always pleasant and feels like it's truly part of the restaurant and not just some random tables and chairs on the sidewalk.
google avatar

Yelp
One thing I always look for is a great cinnamon roll. Not too sweet not too gooey icing. And this place hits it right! There were so many other pastries I want to try. And then there is their breakfast choices. From the huevos rancheros to the breakfast sandwich with avocado to the smoked salmon and the French toast, all were amazing. Great spot for sure.
google avatar

Kristal B.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot right off the beach! The line was long but moved fast and the food was delish. Dog friendly & plenty of outdoor seating, no complaints. Try to get there before 9am on a weekend to avoid the rush!
google avatar

Safia S.

Yelp
Great spot for brunch in montecito. Wide offerings from eggs and sweet items off the griddle. I had their lobster Benedict. Perfectly poached eggs with lots of lobster!
google avatar

Wes N.

Yelp
To be honest, just another spot. We were in the area. A bit small. The food was decent. You wouldn't expect this place in the little Saigon area.
google avatar

Emiko S.

Yelp
We LOVED this place. Great service, delicious food, and the sweetest atmosphere. Definitely will be coming back next time we are in the area.
google avatar

Dano R.

Yelp
Breakfast and pastries are uncommonly good. Fresh smoothies and juice. Americano was perfect and goes great with the scones. Easily 5 stars!
google avatar

Katie Y.

Yelp
Cute restaurant with alot of options! The staff was also very friendly. We ate outside which wasn't the best ambiance since it's practically in the street with parking spots directly in front. There was a lot of traffic in and out of the spots. Also it was pretty pricey for what you get.
google avatar

Max D.

Yelp
Great breakfast spot with fast service and a relaxed friendly vibe. Food is very well done simple and delicious. I love crispy hash browns and they do it perfectly. The breakfast burrito was super filling with egg chorizo pepper and cheese.

Yelp
We just finished a delicious breakfast at Jeanine's. Everything was great...the coffee, tea, fresh squeezed orange juice, raspberry scone, oatmeal and yogurt with granola. What impressed us most was the employees. They are friendly, efficient and appear genuinely happy to be working here from the greeter, counter personal, servers and bus staff. A great meal and we will definitely return.

J P.

Yelp
Great food, lovely flavors, substantial portions. Service is young and friendly. This location is somewhat out-of-the-way and less of a wait than Santa Barbara. And has plenty of parking
google avatar

Heather P.

Yelp
Love Jeannine's! Great food, just too crowded and tight of a space to eat in. Awkward sitting right next to the line where folks stand to order.
google avatar

Sergio H.

Yelp
The place had a great atmosphere and the food was delicious! We had the breakfast burrito and orange scone. Please make sure to add to your list!
google avatar

Sydney E.

Yelp
The ambiance is very nice. You order at the front counter and your food is brought to you very quickly. The coffee and food were all delicious and a blueberry scone was perfectly moist. Would absolutely recommend.

Samar

Yelp
Very cute place, food was good and we tried the strawberry croissant that was really good. But we were not happy with the fruit smoothie we ordered at all. First they brought that very late like when we finished all the meals and ready to leave! we asked 3 people working there about it while eating, so after a long wait we had that but it was not good at all. It was mostly water and not a good smoothie at all. We left that on the table and left. I would go to this place for brunch when I am back at SB again but would never again order a smoothie from them :)
google avatar

Monica N.

Yelp
I've brought my boyfriend here for two consecutive years for a birthday brunch! Both times were during the weekday for a later brunch so the wait wasn't too bad. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you! The patio seating is really cute with colorful umbrellas, marble tabletops, and plants. Staff is amazing...from the cashier, to the espresso/champagne man, and our waiter. Very friendly and accommodating - offered water for our dog, patient with my many menu questions, generous with the surprise birthday cake slice, and even lit candles for us! The banana kahlua French toast is delicious, eggs are creamy, bacon is perfect. I loved my huevos rancheros too. Had the avocado toast recently and I think it needed more avocado and more flavor (but it could've been because I had the French toast first which was very rich). We will be back!

Penny L.

Yelp
Eggs Benedict order to go - Ordered poached egg medium which is supposed to still have a runny yolk. Received a hard boiled egg.

Charlie M.

Yelp
This place is such a treasure. I wanted to keep it to myself and not mention it, but I had to write to commend Caryn, our wonderful server. She was an absolute delight, friendly, bright, totally professional but so engaging. Having great staff front of house is crucial for the service industry. Too often you can tell when someone is just there for the paycheck, which is totally understandable, but it really shows when someone actually elevates the experience of being somewhere. Of course all of the staff were wonderful and the food was amazing, but that Caryn, if I had a cafe I would steal her away to work for me!
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Great spot for the best scones and coffee! Sat outside and enjoyed the fantastic ambiance on a clear, sunny Montecito morning. Very friendly service too.
google avatar

Aracely B.

Yelp
Came to visit Santa Barbara's and this was our first spot! Recommend you to make your breakfast stop here. I ordered their Banana Kahlua French Toast and their breakfast potatoes. The banana Kahulua French toast and it was the perfect balance of sweet and savory. The potatoes were the perfect balance of salt to match this breakfast plate. There is tons of outdoor and indoor seating, so you can easily enjoy some fresh air as you eat your breakfast. Additionally their wait staff are so kind. They would check on us, make sure our food was good, and even went out their way to take a picture of our party. Would come again!

Ben G.

Yelp
The service was very good, food was excellent. Just one thing we had toget our own water.
google avatar

Isabelle H.

Yelp
the whole thing was flavorless, the dressing was literally just oil maybe canola tasted so icky! chicken that i paid an extra 4.50 was sub par. The whole thing was 19.50 are you kidding?!?

Landon B.

Yelp
I would give this place a 2.5 stars. I truly do not understand the ratings of this place and it does not live up to them at all. To start out with good things. GOOD: Very clean, bathrooms were clean and gender neutral Very formal, amazing service and nice The eggs, sausage and bacon were great But this is about where the good things end BAD: If you are expecting to sit down and have breakfast don't come here, you order at the counter then they bring you your food to you I ordered the sticky bun, and it was just dry, this made it inedible, and it was just mediocre. I also got the biscuits and gravy, which they forgot to heat up, and there's no way to return it since you don't have a person waiting you. It was just mediocre but at least it had eggs. The pancakes were also in the same category, they seem to use city tap water and they were so bad. The waffle seemed good, but I didn't have a bite. All the food just seemed to be bad or just mediocre, the only reason they are in business is because they are next to the pier and the beach. Also the hot cocoas are worse than Swiss miss. The food was a 2 star with the sides being redeeming, The service was a 5, clean uniforms and nice The cleanliness was a 5, not anything that was dirty and things were taken care of quickly. No pictures taken, but the presentation is great, great for instagram but the food was pretty bad.

Yelp
I was out in about for the Holidays and taking advantage of my days off. I went out to the Friday Farmers Market in Montecito and noticed there was no line at Jeannine's Bakery! I popped in and treated myself to this spectaular breakfast. My latte came in this huge mug and my sandwich was made to perfection. It even came with potatoes!!!! It was so peacefull sitting outside since not too many people that morning. It just might be my new breakfast spot!
google avatar

Doc P.

Yelp
Amazing French toast!!! This place is worth the hype! Staff is super nice and really nice inside. Music is good and cool pictures on the wall.
google avatar

James J.

Yelp
Nice view with good food of reasonable price. We visited on Saturday morning. Many people on line.
google avatar

Christopher C.

Yelp
The best food and service. Lovely spot. Staff are lovely and accommodating. Much prefer the Montecito location.

Yelp
We cannot be within striking distance without visiting Jeannine's Bakery in Montecito. Their staff is always so friendly and welcoming showing their appreciation for their customers. Since it was a weekend, they had Biscuits & Gravy which were one of the best I've had with fresh crispy biscuits and a rich sausage laden gravy. We also had huevos rancheros which were so fresh and tasty. Their baked goods and selections of champagnes are impressive. Already we are looking forward to our next visit.

Runi G.

Yelp
All around a 5/5. The service was impeccable -- it's so clear that the people who work here love working here. We got the Turkey Berry Sandwich and the Lemon Poppyseed Pancakes. Both were AMAZING. The Turkey Berry sandwich was so simple but sooo tasty. Plus, it felt pretty healthy :) The Lemon Poppyseed pancakes were so unique and tasted unlike any other lemon poppyseed pancakes we've ever tasted. Portion sizes were generous! The location and decor is great and it's great for people watching!

Scrappy C.

Yelp
Best breakfast and brunch spot in SB! The service is incredible - so friendly and welcoming. Food is amazing and they have a grab and go section which is really convenient. Location can't be beat and ambience is lovely.
google avatar

Amy D.

Yelp
love the breakfast burrito and cute ambiance. I always call in the order ahead as the line can get long during peak hours.
google avatar

Valerie C.

Yelp
Cute ambiance and the service is great. I got the chicken salad sandwich. It needed a little salt but other than that it was delicious. The strawberry lemonade was also fresh and refreshing. The perfect lemonade on a summer day.

Laurie L.

Yelp
The food was good. Coffee was ok. For a first timer it's a little overwhelming to sort out the menu and then be ready to order. No refills on coffee as far as I know. No one works the tables with a pot of coffee. The wild blueberry danish was the star for sure.
google avatar

Victoria E.

Yelp
Stumbled across this gem while visiting Santa Barbara and it was the perfect little breakfast/lunch spot! I had the Chicken Pesto sandwich which was great and my husband had the Turkey Cranberry sandwich that he thoroughly enjoyed. Service was friendly and prompt, the decor of the restaurant was adorable and they also had baked goods that looked very appetizing. We'd definitely come back on our next visit!

Yelp
STILL MAGICAL ! We were up in Santa Barbara for a few days to celebrate my wife's birthday. The happy memories of our last visit here in Sept, 2020 were still strong.....staying overnight in a beautiful Casita at The Eagle Inn and enjoying a fabulous breakfast here the next morning. My wife and I parked across the street around 8am on Friday...it was a tad chilly ! I could see a flash Bentley Coupe parked out the front...maybe Prince Harry & Co are here. HELLO ! Looks like a new coat of exterior paint has been added since our last visit...hopefully nothing else has changed ! Obviously we had beaten the rush as there was not much going at this point...at least not on the empty outdoor patio. My wife sat at a tiny table inside while I stood in line to order. Mmm...I could not see any Jeannine's embossed large porcelain cups on top of the shiny espresso machine. WHAT'S UP ! After a few minutes it was my turn to order.....a cashier named Sixty took good care of me. First up I ordered 2 x 12oz Double Shot LATTES with 2% milk and hazelnut syrup. At this point I said to Sixty that you guys have obviously pivoted to paper cups dine in or not. Yes said Sixty but because you want 12oz we can put them in porcelain mugs. NICE TOUCH ! For my wife I ordered 1 x SANTA BARBARA SCRAMBLE ( eggs, mixed cheese, spinach, mushrooms, tomatoes..served with potatoes & choice of buttermilk biscuit or toast ) and for myself 1 x CLASSIC EGGS BENEDICT ( Canadian bacon, 2 HARD POACHED eggs...served on a toasted English muffin topped with our own house-made hollandaise sauce with choice of potatoes or hash browns ) plus a FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE. Now my wife had spotted a delectable looking CHOCOLATE CAKE in the display cabinet as we came in. Yesterday was my wife's birthday and chocolate cake was on her wish list. I asked Sixty to find out what kind of cake it was. It's a Classic Chocolate Cake ( $50 )...ok box it please ! I paid, was given a table number and asked to retrieve my ( pre-squeezed ) fresh squeezed orange juice in a sealed plastic cup from the tray below. WOW ! We've been here a few times in the last 14 years and yet I had not seen one familiar face. GONE ! I found out the original manager / supervisor Richard had moved on as had Anthony the last manager we met. Covid has certainly changed a lot of things since our last visit in 2020. Our 2 lattes in pastel pink porcelain mugs came out and tasted very good. Soon after our breakfast dishes hit the table simultaneously and looked spectacular. My perfectly cooked hard poached eggs tasted wonderful as did my scrumptious hash browns. My wife was more than happy with her Santa Barbara Scramble...lots to love ! I went looking for the small inside bathroom out the back and a staff member handed me a numbered code for the outside corporate bathroom. By this time the place was buzzing with the sleepy heads who eat late. It was great to have breakfast here again....one of our fav places. It's a shame that it now feels more businesslike and less warm & friendly. And it's absolutely tragic that such a fine eatery now serves all their espresso drinks in paper cups. THIS IS NOW THE WAY ! We picked up our boxed Classic Chocolate Cake and left. STILL HARD TO BEAT ! NOTE - Of course with over 22 million views of my Yelp reviews and pics in 2022 I can tell you what is great !
